New Private Bird Club Website Sign Up & Info
Hi Every birdie! Squeaky's mom is working with two web designers to build a new and improved but similar bird club for us to play on since our beloved BC will be deleting our Bird eClub sometime this year! We need your support! So start nagging your parronts so we can stay together!
Basically, the more parronts that sign up, the cheaper the initial set up fee will be and also the annual fee to join the site. For more information and to sign up to participate please visit my page 28415 and leave an email address. Or you can email my mom, Sunny, directly at our email nubinskis@aol. com. She will send you all the up to date information that has been sent so far and she can answer all your questions. She also told me to tell you that all ideas and suggestions are most welcome. She also is hoping to find some parronts that have some expertise in working with advertisers and who would volunteer to get advertisers for the site. If that happens, costs would be next to nothing or maybe even nothing for all of us to play together.
So send your parronts to my page 28415 or email us to get information, leave suggestions and to sign up!
Hugs and Love to all! Squeaky, Picabo & Scion

  Hello Cori~
I hope you are all having a great day! How is your mom feeling? We hope she is a bunch better!!
Not much going on around here. Dad packed up and hit the road again this morning. He is going to San Diego this time. It was nice to have him home for an extra day!
It's been cloudy and rainy for a few days but that is a good thing since the fires in Eastern Washington are so bad. The cooler weather had helped but I have to say the place looks like a war zone!! We have been praying for everyone out there!
You all enjoy the day!!

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
There are still some mailboxes around with that yellow flag on it but you cant buy the mailbox with it any more or at least that we know of.
When mom went to the fruit stand this week they had red beets so mom bought one. She cooked it when she came home and after it had cooled mom put it in with my bean/rice mix for my lunch. I sure did like it though mom has bought them before and did that and I ate it but this time I seemed to really enjoy it a lott more this time. Of course when my poo turned a little reddish mom and I sure knew why so wasn’t surprised either LOL. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Leaving a vote for you!!   Hi Cori, BB, & sweet aunt Carol, from the Jennifer
...Sports Illustrated Swim Suit model is just a way to pickup some extra cash between bank jobs, not to worry, I only take it all off for Alfie, when I can get him away from aunt Denise long enough! I wish you all a great throw back Thursday, do me a favor, look through your old book of memories and select a pic to reflect on! It is fun to remember the past, you will be amazed at how things in your life have changed, mostly for the better! We like looking at many of the birds we have rescued and re-homed, but my favorite time is to review many of my old friends and relatives (dad's son, daughter, and grand kids), some are sadly no longer with us, but life goes on as we hang on to what we once had! Have a great day dear friends, and give my love to all in your humble home, see ya tomorrow...

As always forever, Jenny & the Dallas family

  Hi Cori
I'm putting my full weight on the leg now, so mom has declared me healed! My feathers haven't started growing in yet, but that's just a matter of time, we think.
It's cooler here today than it has been for a couple of days, only going into the mid 70s today. That's good pool weather though. Mom will spend the afternoon reading by the pool, then do some grocery shopping which is really needed at this point. (She only had 7 things to cut up into the boy's and Maxine's bowls today.) Later we will celebrate my hatchday with songs, special treats, and maybe a new toy. I hope I get my favorite popcorn nutriberries. ♫Happy Hatchday to me! ♫ Come on over for some cake and nutriberries later! Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Kaji, TiPaul, and Sky for 10k!, Peppino, In Divo's memory & Falco, I'm 15 today!.

  Hi Cori
It got as high as 81 here today and my dad worked again outside in the hot sunshine painting more of the trim on the house, while Mom was gone all day with skin sis and Nana.Skin sis and Mom went to their Zumba class first thing in the morning(9:30 am class)they were late getting there because of the Fair traffic,we have a full week of traffic jams because of the Fair going up to Falmouth and into Hyannis, then they picked up Nana and went to run some errands.Nana wanted a small radio as hers died the other day and do you think that they could find one? They went to Radio Shack but all they had there were cell phones and their accessories, some xm radios, some weather radios, and a few bigger radios, but nothing smaller, they went to WallyWorld and no luck there either and to Staples. It looks like radios are going the way of the vcr and cassette tape decks! They ran a few errands in the grocery stores and then checked out this new health food store they built in the Mashpee Commons, they had a lot of things there but they didn't stay long as it was getting late, skin sis brought Mom home and they got stuck in the Fair traffic again,so its taking so much longer to get anything done these days!We never got any outside time today as it was after 6pm when Mom finally made it home and after she got dinner made,us cleaned and taken care of and the groceries put away, she was too tired to drag out the deck cages, besides the sun was already fading from the sky,she and dad ate dinner out on the deck and came inside around 7pm after first watching the hummingbird fly by them to get a drink!
That's just the look that my mom is hoping to achieve when she finally gets all the junk out of this house after all these years! It's getting so out of hand with all the clutter just everywhere!Mom is so sick of having to deal with living in it,trying to clean the house around it,most days she feels like a hoarder!Mom won't be getting to the attic til the fall when the temperatures drop because its really hot up there and you can't stand up fully without cracking your head on the rafters!Mom walks around up there all bent over but by the time she comes down that ladder she is one hurting Mom!Now that is the hard part and very hard to separate the things you no longer need but in a way still want!Mom was the same way,she held onto things she's had since she was in school for some reason, from the kids school papers, awards they got, book reports they did etc,to all her things whether it was clothes or other things!Mom finally told herself that if she hasn't used it in a year then it has to go!And you can't look back!
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses!Loving you always and forever,my sweet Cori,Love,Kallie

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
Oh no the mailbox with the red flag to tell the mailman to stop at your mailbox is still being made!! The one mom wanted had a yellow flag on top and would go up once the mailman put mail in the box since our mail box is across the road nice to know if the mailman left any thing and not make trips across the busy road when nothing is in the box that day. That one with the yellow flag is no longer being made.
Today mom was making my lunch of beans/ rice mix which she adds egg, veggies all to it and what ever else she has on hand. I like hot peppers and red sweet ones too so mom puts them in it also. She always washes her hands good before and after wards cause of the hot peppers cause they do burn. Mom shut the door when I went in to eat then and ran out for the paper and mail. Mom gets her cousin/ neighbors too cause she had an operation and is recuperating . Well mom and her cousin was talking a bit and mom touched her eye and that old hot pepper was still hot so moms cousin gave her a wet paper towel to wipe it and was ok then. Good mom had washed her hands before that though. Mom has touched her lips and that happened before but the eye is lots worse LOL. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Leaving a vote for you!!   Hi Cori and Boo Boo
Hello everybirdie, Zeena here with today's special guests. I had a few problems getting them to settle down and then a few chewed their way out of the box, but finally I bribed them with a few Almonds. Today we pause briefly to visit a few very beautiful and interesting Cockatoo mutations. Cockatoos have been cross species bred for a number of years, giving rise to some odd and uncommon looking individuals. However, the birds we will stop to visit today are natural occurring mutations, some of which have been hatched in the wild. Ok, guys, climb down from there please, it's time to get a few photos.
Cockatoos are found in the wild in only a limited area of the world. They are found primarily in Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia, as well as surrounding areas in the South Pacific.

The cockatoo (of the family Cacatuidae) is one of the most well-known birds in the parrot family because it’s quite noisy; in fact, it’s the loudest of all the parrots. Their loudness comes from a history of having to communicate long distances with one another in dark, thick forests. Cockatoos are found in Australia and some surrounding islands, mainly in forested areas. These birds form flocks, with sometimes up to three different types of cockatoos, to feed together on berries, nuts and seeds. Most cockatoos even stay in the same flock they were raised in and often mate in long-lasting pairs.

Like all parrots, cockatoos are zygodactyl, which means they can use their feet to grasp objects, making them excellent climbers. Although parrots are often colorful, most cockatoos are actually black and white because they lack a certain texture in their feathers that reflects light. In the 1970s, many cockatoos were trapped for the pet trade and their numbers in the wild have decreased dramatically. In fact, some Indonesian cockatoos are now thought to be extinct in the wild. Others are quickly declining due to hunting, poisoning and illegal poaching. Looked upon as pests and nuisances they fight to maintain their territories with ever growing human invasion.

Cockatoos are gregarious, sensitive, demanding and classed as high-maintenance. They have a powerful beak they freely use to chew and tear woodwork and furnishing in homes if left unsupervised. Not a bird for most novices, those who have loved and been loved by one, will forever be a Cockatoo fan.

I hope you enjoy the photos of some of the wonderful mutations available today.

As I recall Boo boo did very well in last year's race, so I am sure she is super eggcited. Glad I could include you as well. You will both do greyt.

I got out for my sunbath at 9AM this morning and it is a good thing I did too. Our high today is supposed to hit triple digits. When my mom went to get her talons (OK, she calls them nails) done and stop by the library this morning there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Very pretty blue, but no shade to speak of.

So this is Wednesday, which means my mom will leave for the gym right before 4 and not be back until a little after 6. Phooey! I do get her full time after she gets home though. We will watch a little TV, and Dad is locked out (so I won't bite him). It's just mommy and me and the TV recordings. Good times!

  Hi Cori
My mom is the same way, loves the heat! She will never complain after the winter we had last year, the heat is just fine with her. I hope your mom feels better each day.
Mom made a recommendation to readers in the BC Library (Cookie's page), if anyone likes thrillers/mysteries.
Dinner last night was good, the groupon was for a local Japanese restaurant, but not traditional Japanese, one of those places that puts on a show of cooking on the hibachi. It's called Saga, and the chef came out and cooked in front of mom and her sis. They shared a sushi roll for appetizers, and her sister had a tempura banana for dessert. Mom was much too stuffed to have any dessert, though. Plus, a fried banana didn't sound appealing.
Mom has her mammogram and bone density appointment today. There is a women's imaging center that does both at the same site, so that's where she'll go. They are predicting rain today, but if the walk with the dogs this morning is any indication, it will be another bright sunny day, so pool time again!
I hope you are having a bright sunshiney day with lots of hugs. Hugs from me too, Falco

The sad part is the man who owned the 160 acres was kind to nature. Then he passed away and his nephew got the land. He doesn't even live here! He started clear cutting a few years ago ... and now, who knows what he is doing. Probably something for food or better sight so he can kill more deer :(
It was a hot, humid and windy day. So why was I surprised that the power went out tonight? I need my beauty sleep ... I'm turning 4 on Wednesday! It finally came on at 12:40am. Now to catch up. Hey, it's Wednesday .... do I get my presents now mom?

Today was a really hot day and it got into the 80's and was really humid.Mom worked on cleaning the bathrooms and the bedroom and got rid of more junk. Then she went downstairs and made grapefruit juice from the grapefruits she had in the fridge, then she cut up some broccoli and we all got to have some,my baby fister Candida sure did love it and actually ate it!My Dad was out all day in the hot sun painting the trim on the house and by the end of the day he was red as a lobster!Mom wouldn't take us outside til late in the afternoon because it was way too hot on the deck!We got to have several soaking showers and even got to join Mom and dad for dinner on the deck.Dad put the a/c on for Mom as soon as dinner was done so Mom could do our blogs without slipping off her chair! It will be a cage day for all of us tomorrow as Mom will be gone all day first to the gym for Zumba and then to run errands with Nana and skin sis.Dad will be home with us but he will be outside painting again and we won't see much of him.
Please make sure your sweet Momma gets some rest,Mom and I can't believe that she did all that work, its a good thing that the back brace is helping her but Mom and I so worry that she might be hurting something even when she is wearing it!Please tell her to be careful!

Mom just weighed me yesterday too and I stay about the same all the time. It does make a difference what time of day I get weighed too. Think maybe the scale could be off that it said you gained?
Well dad got the mailbox today but the one with the flag (to tell you that the mail man went) that mom wanted is no longer being made. Mom painted the names and number on the box and then helped dad get it on. Mom had me in the outside cage and I kept yelling real loud to the parronts and mom kept yelling back to me. It was very hot and humid today so I didn’t stay out long and tomorrow looks like rain so doubt I get out then either. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Short blog today, because Mom and I have been very busy with the August County Fair Milonga. We have our 16 pig riders! To get the names just fly on over to the milonga page #165848 and they are posted. The new riders don't have their pig assignments yet, but returnees will ride their old friends from last year. And face painting is back, plus the pie eating contest.
However please don't forget the July milonga is this Saturday, and we are all going to have a fantastic beach party at the lake.

I had a nice sunbath before my mom went to the gym this morning. I have been climbing into my carrier to play more and more often. Those toys are pretty good in there!

  Hi Cori and Boo Boo
Hello my dear friends. Thank you all for the lovely words of encouragement and your faithful daily votes. i hope you are enjoying viewing a few very rare and uncommon Parrots and birds. All the birds I have discussed are species that are kept in captivity. Some we will not see, or won't see available for a long time due to their rarity.
Today we will stop by to visit some very common friends, in some very interesting and striking colors. Momma Deb has raised many Green Cheeked Conures in her lifetime but none like those we will see today. Many are only available to breeders at this time due to their difficulty in reproducing their colors. I hope you will enjoy what you see.
Momma Deb and I tried to locate the current price of many of these beauties and have listed them here, just for your information sake--

American Dilutes--$2000.00 US a pair and up
American Dilutes yellow-sided---$ 3800 to 6000Us a pair
Red-Faced Yellow-sided----$2500 to 7000.US a pair
Sun Cheek -------$ 4500 to 8500US a pair
Moon Cheeks---$7000Us and up for good stock
Mint-----$5000 to 10,000US a pair
Turquoise---$500 US a pair and up
Cinnamon Turquoise---$750 US and up a pair
Recessive Pied-----$4000 to 8000US a pair and up
Red-Factored Pineapples--$300US and up per pair
Dilute Moon Cheeks---$7000US and up per pair

There are by far not all the new and shocking color mutations available but will give you a good idea of what has been hatching in Green Cheeked Conure nest boxes lately.

Habitat:
Seen in dense, low forests and woodlands. Also in moist, mossy cloud forest on E Andes where seen up to 2900m (9512 ft).

Threat Summary:
Probably declining in E Bolivia because of rapid forest clearance. They are found on CITES
Appendix II. There are flocks living in both Florida and California which can be seen in company of the wild Amazon Parrots.

  Hi Cori
Your moms shouldn't be doing heavy work if she is in a back brace. Tell her to take it easy.
It is a gorgeous day today! I think it's the best one of the week. Tomorrow we're supposed to get thunderstorms again. Usually by this time in July the grass is brown and dry, but everyone has green grass still. Mom has some grocery shopping to do, but it can wait. She needs to buy fresh fruits and veggies, but we have enough to tide us over for a few days. Today is definitely a pool day, and tonight mom and her sister will go to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. Mom bought a groupon a few weeks ago and wants to use it before it expires.   Hi Cori
The key is to reduce and keep the spinal pressure from building up. A lumber puncture can drain of some fluid and pressure. If it's affecting the optic nerve then surgery can be used to save sigh by decompressing the eye and in some cases a permanent spinal shunt is requires to keep fluid from building pressure. There are also drugs out there to help reduceand keep pressure down. Mom has been very luck in that she had surgery in 1997 to decompress the eye and hasn't had any further issues. She is not even on drugs. However things ya be changing and she needs to double check. With any luck what the other dr is seeing is nothing new cause mom really isn't experiencing any symptoms that sooty her. Gotta run. Have a great day. V4U. Hugs.

  Hi Cori
Moms disease mimics a tumor but there is no tumor. It's caused by extremely high spinal fluid pressure buildup behind the optic nerve and if not treated will kill the nerve when pressure gets to high. It usually presents with severe headaches, ringing in ears, vision coming and going. Moms is only having minor headaches and isn't noticing vision issues other than not being able to see clearly with her new prescription. However it's been 4 years since she has had a eye check related to her disease. You can look up Psuedotumor Cerebri to see more about it. Have a great day. V4U. Hugs.

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
Sure hope your moms back soon feels better too!!
I have been going to bed a bit earlier then I was before so guess the days are getting shorter mom says. Last night I just got on my perch to wait for mom to cover me for the night and the dog next door started to bark. If I wasn’t so tired I would of gotten up on that windowsill and barked back at him like I do in the day time when he is out. Finally he must of went in the house and I gave mom a kiss good night and she covered me for the night. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Leaving a vote for you!! Hugs~~ Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Cori
Mom isn't fond of seed moths, but some of the others are pretty cool.

Well, I nearly didn't get a sunbath today, and this time it wasn't my fault (really!). The clouds were covering the sun first thing this morning, so it wasn't warm enough when Mom left for the gym and her trainer and zumba class at 10. When she got home at 12:30, she thought it might be too warm, but I made it clear I really wanted to go outside. So we did, but we just stayed for 25 minutes. When we came back in I didn't want to leave my carrier and stayed in there and played for a while. Who would believe I used to be afraid of that thing?

Mom is making chicken gumbo for dinner, so this will be a short blog. She has to keep adding things to the pot. Since I really like the stuff, I guess I can't complain. Oh! And I did get peach for breakfast, but I don't like it.

  Hi Cori and Boo Boo
Hello everybirdie, Zeena here to start this week with one of the worlds most well known Parrots. Today we stop to visit the Senegal Parrots and their mutations. I wish to thank you all for your greyt support and daily votes in my quest to earn the Title of Bird of the Month for August.
Over the last 30 years as many as 3 million wild Senegal parrots have been removed from the wild – 811,408 CITES Export permits have been issued since 1975. Unregulated trade in African parrots peaked in the 1980s and ’90s, and still exists today. This lucrative black market industry is fueled by profiteering middlemen who exploit wild bird populations. In 2005, the Senegal parrot was the most traded bird on the CITES Appendix II, with an average of over 45,000 individuals being removed from the wild each year. Today, African parrots remain among the most traded species on earth.
The Poicephalus parrots, including Senegals, Red-bellied and Myers etc are among the hardiest parrots on earth being able to survive in the harsh, African subtropics. All of their ranges are under serious pressure from the booming charcoal industry, out-of-control commercial logging , burning by local people for pastures and agriculture, as well as climate change. Deforestation rates on the continent are now twice that of the rest of the world. Africa has lost one half of its old-growth forests and forest restoration has become absolutely essential to save endemic forest bird species.
Long-lived forest specialists like Senegal parrots and rose-ringed parakeets are particularly sensitive to forest degradation. The added pressure of the wild-caught bird trade is often catastrophic, resulting in local extinctions in many Africa countries. Meyer’s parrots have all but disappeared from South Africa, African grey parrots are no longer seen in Kenya or Tanzania, Ruppell’s parrot and the brown-headed parrot have disappeared from much of their ranges in Namibia and Mozambique respectively, and the Cape parrot is only found in small forest refuges in the high mountains. Anyone who has traveled by road in Africa will tell you that every time you are in or near a forest you will start seeing parrots in cages or with their feet tied up on the roadside. Africa is exporting its parrots, its wildlife, its birdlife, its natural heritage,at alarming rates.
The Senegal Parrot is now extinct in many of it's ranges. The only way to stop this trade in wild-caught Parrots is to refuse to purchase birds that are not born in captivity.
Many devoted Senegal breeders have been working with a few unique mutations that have appeared in nestboxes starting in the early 1990's. These rare and beautiful mutations are still expensive and normally available only to other breeders, they include the yellow, pied, opaline, dilute and cinnamon. Regardless of color Senegal Parrots will remain one of the most common family pet birds kept the world over.
