New Private Bird Club Website Sign Up & Info
Hi Every birdie! Squeaky's mom is working with two web designers to build a new and improved but similar bird club for us to play on since our beloved BC will be deleting our Bird eClub sometime this year! We need your support! So start nagging your parronts so we can stay together!
Basically, the more parronts that sign up, the cheaper the initial set up fee will be and also the annual fee to join the site. For more information and to sign up to participate please visit my page 28415 and leave an email address. Or you can email my mom, Sunny, directly at our email nubinskis@aol. com. She will send you all the up to date information that has been sent so far and she can answer all your questions. She also told me to tell you that all ideas and suggestions are most welcome. She also is hoping to find some parronts that have some expertise in working with advertisers and who would volunteer to get advertisers for the site. If that happens, costs would be next to nothing or maybe even nothing for all of us to play together.
So send your parronts to my page 28415 or email us to get information, leave suggestions and to sign up!
Hugs and Love to all! Squeaky, Picabo & Scion

  Hi Cori
Boo boo is absolutely entered in the Rodeo Queen contest. Great pic of her, too! I hope you are getting good at dodging those bullets!

Well, Mom wasn't fooling around one little bit this morning. We got outside for my sunbath at 8:30, and it was just the right temp. (That's because we have another scorcher of 104 for today.) However in order to get sunshine for me, my carrier was sitting in the sidewalk (the house blocks early morning sun). By the time we came in I was on the grass, but nobody walked by anyway. I would have ordered them off my sidewalk if they had.

Well, we are up to 8 entries for the Rodeo Queen, and I say that makes it a contest (more would be better though!). Every single one of these birdies is a beauty, and we will have the pics posted in the Milonga page gallery (165848) before voting starts on the 18th. You will then have one vote per bird per day until the 24th (midnight EDT). We now have 7 barrel racers and still only 5 mutton busters, so there is still room for both of those events. And if you want to enter for Rodeo Queen, you have until midnight EDT tomorrow to get your name and pic entered. And of course, don't forget the rodeo will be held on the 27th.

  Hi Cori
We just have to get him out of there! Vote him out.
Mom had a meeting today at the museum, so we are just getting online now. It was mostly about teaching new docents the rest of the halls. Mom had 2 years of training, but the docents who were hired in the spring only had training either in Dinosaur hall or in 3 cultures. Now they are worried that the new folks can't do tours in the rest of the museum. Anyway mom signed on to teach ecosystems, biomes, and animal adaptations, as well as possibly PA natural history. Hope they can use her expertise in some way or other.
Bree came by to do our birdicures yesterday and while she and mom were talking, mom mentioned that I am not as active with her as I used to be, and that I haven't really wanted a bath for awhile either. Bree looked at my injured leg and she thinks I might still have a fractured fibula, the little bone in the leg. So mom called Jill today to see if she can look at me and give her opinion, and maybe some vet wrap too.
I hope you are having a good day today, getting a lot of love and sunshine. Hugs, Falco

They do predict a long and nasty winter for us. I hope they are wrong!!!
We are having problems with squirrels breaking off branches to eat berries and flowers. I wonder if that's who's getting to yours?
We had a nice day of 55 with a little sun for a few hours. I was very busy playing all day. I did take time out to watch the blue jays and chippies eating peanuts on the patio. It might get a bit warmer with more sun tomorrow, I hope so. Hope you had a nice day.

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
That is great the bunny is back! We always worry when we dont see ours for a while too.
I know some of you don’t know a whole bunch about us ekkies but one of our traits is forever cleaning our beak off after we eat. Sometimes my water gets pretty messy so mom has to change it often and other times I wipe it off on what ever is handy when I am done eating. It can be a condo bar, perch, or this stone thing mom has on my condo porch, or this toy with sticks sticking out of it or my heater. Mom is forever cleaning those things off and it sort of dries on my heater so takes a bit of scrubbing to get it clean. Mom always says about what a mess I make it while she is cleaning it too. I think its good exercise for mom to have the extra chores I create for her to do though. It keeps her out of trouble too LOL. “Sometimes people ask mom how she can be friends with people she has never met and mom tells them then you have never been on bird channel I bet. That about sums it up to my friend” ~~ Hugs, Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Cori
Wow! What an ordeal for the parronts yesterday with my new condo! We got to meet the wonderful people who were so kind to go and pick it up in Delaware. I kept showing them my large wingspan and how I intended to fill up this new cage! After they left, mom proceeded to disinfect the sections. She used Mr Clean, then rinsed, then dilute vinegar soln then rinsed and then dilute bleach and then power washer rinsed. You'd think she was taking it to work for her clean room. When she had the base, tray and grate in our room, and came down off the top of my cage to eggspore it--name it and claim it I say! I have 4 stainless steel bowls for food, treats and water plus my original eggstra large bathing bowl! However, it looks rather empty with my 2 oversized toys that had to be squeezed into my old cage! Mom is off tomorrow and will make some more for me to turn into toothpicks! I even stepped up for dad so he could put me back on my T stand while I was in the living room watching football. I got bored and wanted to watch them put my new digs together, but mom didn't want me in the way saying I would have bugged Blue while they were working. You rally have to come over for some snacks and stuff because this is unbelievable! Love and winghugs, Josh

  Hi Cori
Let me know as soon as Boo Boo's pic is done, so we can enter her in the Rodeo Queen contest. I know she would do well. Everybirdy loves her.

Well, it ended up hitting 104 here yesterday, and today is just as hot. I was not fooling around when Mom said it was time to go outside at 8:45. I knew it was then or never and didn't give Mom any trouble about climbing into my outdoor cage. We still only stayed out there for 35 minutes, because Mom was getting warm and besides it is trash day. Those trucks started rumbling through and Mom just picked me up and took me inside.

Mom then went to the gym to work out with her trainer. Becky had her standing up (instead of sitting for her workout) for the first time today, although she was still very careful not to do any exercises that engaged the abs. And that 10 pounds is still gone! Zumba on Friday!!!

We now have 5 entries for the Rodeo Queen contest, so technically that is enough since it is the queen and 4 princesses, but really.....that is not a contest. Let's see some more entries. If you can't do a pic yourself, surely you have a friend who can help out. We have 5 mutton busters, so there is room for 5 more. Only 3 barrel racers so far so plenty of room there. We can take up to 10 of each. The Queen contest is no limits!!

  Hi Cori
I'm glad the bunny is back too.
Today Bree is coming for our birdicures. This morning mom cleaned the outdoor RVS pens for the first time in awhile. There are 2 adult coyotes out there in separate pens as well as 22 raccoons! Good thing the raccoons are social and don't mind sharing quarters, because the center doesn't have 22 cages out there! They can be housed in a few large cages, but those are real bears to clean, so it took mom over 2 hours for all the outdoor areas today. Still, it was nice to be out in the sun, even if it was cooler than we like.
I don't think we'll get out today, because it's not very warm again. In fact, it looks like it's gonna be cool all week long. I hope you are having better weather, getting some warm sunshine and especially getting lots of cuddles. Hugs, Falco

She came home with a wooden intricate cut out of a bird ~ now who would ever think she would buy something like that ???LOL. “You know you’re a bird person when your pockets contain more almonds then money.” Leaving a vote for you my friend… Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  Hi Cori
Mom signs every petition about bees and the pesticides that are killing them that she sees. They are such an important part of the ecological chain of life. Without them.....

Well, it is triple digits here today (101), and it is supposed to be just as hot tomorrow. Dad got out and mowed the lawn at 8 this morning, because he knew it would be too hot later. Mom tried her darndest to get me to climb in my outside cage from 9 to 9:30, but I would just not do it. Dad even shut himself in the bathroom so Mom could take me on walkabout which usually works. However every time I climbed from her shoulder to the cage I then flew off to my perch on top of the bookcase in my room. After 6 tries she gave up, so no sunbath today.

We did have a very nice lunch though. Mom is still on the no meat diet for 3 1/2 more weeks, so last night she cooked rice with chicken stock and sautéed mushrooms with garlic. Then she stirred in a package of frozen chopped spinach and the rice and topped it all with grated parmesan from the deli. It was pretty darned tasty, and that will be our lunch till it is all gone. Next she will make some fried rice to get some eggs. She can't have bread or toast, so that would be the only egg dish for her. She says eggs without toast is just wrong~!

And just to prove I am not totally naughty, I am now sitting peacefully on Mom's knee while she blogs for me. At least I can be a little bit good today.

We only have one entry for Rodeo Queen, so please, ladies, get your western profile pics ready and enter the contest before the 17th!!

  Hi Cori
Mom has other names for those CEos, but they are not printable on a family friendly channel. Greedy is the only one we will write here...
Today mom was up super early to feed us and the dogs, then get to an event on time. She thought she would have time to walk the furballs, but she didn't, so she's going to walk them when we are done with our blogs. The event was called Wild Rumpus, and there were 2 obstacle courses, one for adults that was 5km, and one for kids that was considerably shorter, as it was all in a field with a hill on it. There weren't as many people as mom thought there would be, but it was not well advertised and was competing with at least 2 other local events. It was damp and cool out, but mom was mostly dressed for the weather. She refused to wear real shoes, though, so her feet got cold in her sandals. Twitch the squirrel was pretty cute, though. He ate a couple of Brazil nuts which mom gave him as a challenge. She thought it would take him awhile to get through the shell into the nut, but he surprised her with his quickness.
I hope you are having a good day today, staying warm and getting cuddles. Hugs, Falco

  Day 14--Inverness-Eagle Eye Kayak tour-part 1
Good morning everybirdie, Angel Girl with today's first Inverness adventure. As the red sun rises over the ocean we finish our hearty breakfast of toast, scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit served up by some of our handsome boy-birds. By the time the sun is above the waters edge we are riding off to begin today's fun tour. Our destination is Eagle Eye Kayak tours. We will kayak from Inverness Harbour along the warm calm waters of the Northumberland Strait. See the rugged cliffs, waterfalls and rocky coastlines. Watch the many Bald Eagles that frequent the area. Take a break for a snack on a secluded beach and look for beach glass or fossils. We will learn to and experience the peacefulness of paddling the spectacular coast and enjoying the natural beauty of the coastline.
"Everybirdie ready?" Angel Girls calls as we turn our horses out into the paddock, with plenty of hay and water. " we are off for a five hour adventure. Make sure to bring your cameras, water bottles and let's have some serious fun" Angel Girl waves her wing and leads off towards the shoreline where the instructors are waiting.
After an in-depth discussion on paddling, safety and making certain our life-jackets are on correctly, we are assigned a Kayak, and push out to sea. "Hey that sounds so cool. Out to sea!" Angel Girl giggles happily as she tries to balance in the kayak.
"Wee, this is fun" Rio yells to Kaji and Lizzie in the Kayak. " wow, don't move too much!" he tells Miranda in another Kayak.
"Look!" Jenny-Lynn points to a distant dark shape, " a whale" she shows Lalo and Sweetie, who stares in awe as the giant mammal surfaces int he far distance.
"Eagles!" Finnegan says, watching the majestic form above, " he's beautiful"
" Tango and Susan look down into the dark water seeing small schools of fish swimming by their Kayak"
"Oh Dixie, this is soooo much fun" Little Angel smiles eggcitedly, " I love kayaking" she paddles like a pro. Sky gives her a frown, as he and BB gain their sea-legs and stop their Kayak tipping side to side.
"Touchy things aren't they" Pearl cries as Silver and Peppino try to steady their wobbling kayak.
Finally we are all ready, and begin to dip our paddles into the calm ocean water. The kayaks move silently, some steadier then others as first-time paddlers learn how to do it. Before all have mastered paddling and off we head along the coast-line.
"A moose" Pookie calls out. A huge bull raises his head from drinking, and watches the birds paddle past. Ducks and Canada Geese flock along the waters edge, swimming along beside us as we go. " WOW, Swans." a group of thirty or more white Swans honk their annoyance of our intrusion. Polly and Falco snap pictures with their cameras.
" Everybirdie" Angel Girl yells out, " Seals" the coastline area is grey with seals. Their calls filling the air loudly. Many hurriedly dive into the water, coming closes for us to take pictures. " this is amazing!" Angel Girl takes lots of photos

Bees ... buzz buzz ... we NEED them! Those chemical company guys are idiots! There is a lavender farm not far from us ... they have a zillion bees. You can go there and just listen to the loud hum from all the acres of plants. There is a sign ... do not disturb the bees, they are working!
Just another cold (49 to 51 degrees for a high) and rainy day. I was busy destroying some new toys. Mom waited until I was finished to clean my area. I wonder why? I thought it looked nice. It finally stopped raining at dinner time.
Hugs
Chyna

Come visit me, Chyna & Bailey ♥ RIP.

  Hi Cori and Boo boo
Sure glad your mom and dad are feeling better!! Did your mom call them and tell them they were sick at Olive Garden?
Yesterday mom and dad went up to the farm since dads brother and sister are home for a while as well as dads brother in law too. I didn’t really care since it was a great day for napping with the colder temperatures. I got on my perch beside my heater in my condo and boy did that feel good. Mom and dad went out with everyone for dinner and from there mom and dad came home so they were home early. If this cold weather keeps up I am going to need to find my winter gauchies !! “You know you’re a bird person when your pockets contain more almonds then money.” Leaving a vote for you my friend… Gus (RIP Chi chi)

Come visit me, Gus --Chi chi ♥ RIP & Chi chi RIP my sweet girl..

Day 13--Welcome to Inverness & its County
Hello everybirdie, Angel Girl here from Inverness, Cape Breton Island. Before we begin I want to ask that everybirdie continue in prayer. We have an urgent request from one of our BC family who wish to remain anonymous at this time. Their sweet baby is in critical, life & death crisis. Also our BC Queen Chuey is not feeling well, although there seems to be some improvement day so ask for continued prayers.
After a mix-up due to Chuey's need for immediate medical care, the wedding of Tiamaria Ganster to my frother Casey went on. It was to be rescheduled, sorry for the mix-up. They will be holding a reception later in the month to celebrate. Rev Spot did an awesome job of performing his very first Celtic wedding.
Now that we have relocated to Inverness ( Scottish Gaelic: Baile Inbhir Nis), a small rural community of approximately 3000 persons.

Located on the west coast of Cape Breton Island fronting the Gulf of St. Lawrence, Inverness sits astride a small coal seam which was exploited from the late 19th century to the mid-late 20th century, beginning with a mine opened by William Mackenzie and Donald Mann during the 1890s after they achieved control of the Inverness and Richmond Railway. Several more mines opened in and near Inverness during the early 20th century, but many closed following World War II with the last one closing in the early 1990s following a fire.

The community was incorporated as a town in 1904. It experienced economic hardship since large scale industrial coal mining ended; the local economy is now based mainly on fishing and tourism. Inverness Raceway was established in 1926, and harness races are held twice weekly between May and October. North America's only true links golf course, the (200-acre (0.81 km2)) Cabot Links is located on the former coal mine and overlooks beautiful sandy beaches. Inverness County is like an unspoken guardian of Cape Breton Island’s Celtic traditions. Its tiny communities are teeming with pride and a genuine way of life that has maintained Gaelic traditions throughout the years. There are many Celtic treasures and traditions waiting to be discovered in Inverness County, from its lively community dances to its well-known outdoor music concerts. The sunset side of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia seems to whisper all things Gaelic.

"WOW, this is so beautiful" Cinn-A-Bunn says taking in the panoramic view of Inverness and county. " Look at the ocean, how blue it is from up here on the mountainside." Zippy adds taking photos.

The birds take in the scene set out before them. Starting tomorrow they will be busily eggploring many interesting and fun adventures.

  Hi Cori
That's awful. I hope they called the restaurant and told them the food made them sick. But then I am sure they don't want a free meal from there, and that is what would probably be offered.

Well, it is hitting triple digits here today, so Mom got me outside for my sunbath at 9:15. She was having a bit of trouble getting me to go into the carrier, but then Dad left to go to the bank. That meant we could go walkabout, and once I am settled comfortably on Mom's shoulder I then quite willingly climb into the carrier. So it was a nice sunbath, although I did start screaming when my mom went behind her lawn chair to water the gardenia tree. She was talking to me the whole time, but I couldn't see her which is unacceptable!

After we came back in Mom read with me for a bit before they went to the store. The sugar snap peas looked so good today, Mom bought extra! This will be a good week, and she figures just in case I get picky about my pellets again she has it covered with veggies, fruits and nutriberries. Mom said it was already way too hot outside by the time they left the store at noon, so she will be inside with me for the rest of the day. Works for me!

And although Mom started the blogging without me, because I didn't want to leave my room I am now on my spot on her knee while she types. She waits until I call her, and then she comes back to get me. Works every time, but I am not sure who is training who!

Mom weighed herself this morning, and the 10 pounds is still gone. She goes back to zumba this coming Friday, so she is hoping that will help keep it off. She would really like to redistribute things a bit, if you know what I mean!

  Hello Cori~
I hope you are having a nice day! Mom and I both hope your parronts are feeling better! They should call the restaurant and complain.
There has been a lot of stories about Olive Garden online lately. I guess they are struggling to stay in business. I wonder if poisoning their guest is the reason why!!! I know there was an article yesterday saying that one of their problems was the menu but I didn't really pay much attention to it. The family has been a few times but if they have the money to eat out these days, mom like to go to Panera Bakery! Great salads there and scones too!!
Take good care of mom and dad!
Love, hugs and a vote ~ Sugar

Come visit me, 10K Hall of Fame, BOTD ARCHIVES, Seahawk Sugar and the 12th pig Pippo & The Calendar Page~Sapphire for September.

  Hi Cori
Mom walked the dogs in the rain today, but the showers are supposed to end soon. We'll see, the weather guessers are usually wrong. Mom had to pull out capris and shirts with sleeves for today. It's pretty cool out, high 50s, and not expected to do much better as the day goes on. Mom has public tours today in dinosaur hall, and she's hoping to cut her tour time to a real mini tour today, between 35 and 40 minutes. We'll see...
Tomorrow mom will be working the Wild Rumpus event for the wildlife center. She will be taking care of Twitch the squirrel. He won't be the only one there, though. There will be at least 4 animals and their handlers throughout the obstacle course. This is the first time they've done this, so mom doesn't know quite what to expect, except for 5 hours outdoors and minding Twitch.
We'll let you know tomorrow afternoon what happened.
By the way, Twitch is the perfect example of why people shouldn't keep wildlife in their homes. He came to us after being kept as a 'pet' in a small cage for over a year. He was really fat, his tail is twisted irreparably, and he has metabolic bone disease from not being fed the proper diet growing up. He's called Twitch because of his seizures, as well. The poor boy is destined to be an education animal for as long as he lives, instead of being a healthy outdoor squirrel.
Hope you are having better weather than we are, more sun, more heat... And I hope you will get lots of cuddles today, too. Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Kaji, TiPaul, and Sky for 10k!, Peppino, Divo & Falco, fly free, Tooth.

  Hi Cori
Little known football fact:

After spending all day Sunday watching football games on television, a man falls asleep in his recliner, spending the entire night. His wife woke him in the morning. "It's twenty to seven," she called..... "In whose favor?"

Come visit me, Jetta.
