Hi Cori & Boo Boo!
Mom and the family went bowling again today. Mom did so much better this time! She won one of the two games, and she would have won the last one, but grandpa got two strikes in the last frame. Mom is SO excited to go home tomorrow morning. She can't wait to see us.

That is funny how your mom sounds like a cuckoo clock LOL. Well the rest of the grands softball games she wont be able to play this season. She broke her thumb during one of the practices when she bunted a ball. She had xrays and had a splint on it but got a cast on it today when they went to Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh to see the surgeon. She might get it off when she goes back in three weeks but not real sure till then. The grand asked if she got a marker to get autographs on it. The doctor just laughed and told her no. Skin sis said she sure isn’t quiet like her parents are! “Roses are red, Violets are blue and I just left a big ole vote for you!” Your kissing cousin, Chi chi.

The librarian mom used to work with had Crohn's that is most likely complication from West Niles. And I think there is something else she is still having problems. But she is the only person mom knows that has had West Nile. Wish there were more ecological studies with HOW to control mosquitoes. We seem to only want IMMEDIATE results without considering the future.

Nana was in severe pain again today,she was feeling better before she walked too long around the few stores Mom took her too,Walmart to check on her BP and it was 110 over 60 which is good and we all hope it stays that way on Friday when Mom has to take her into the drs for the BP check there. By the end of the afternoon Nana could barely walk and Mom went flying into the stores to finish the grocery shopping for her.When she got Nana home she made her sit down while Mom put the groceries away.I think Nana just realized that you just can't keep on your feet like that without paying the consequences! Mom is hoping that she'll stay put tomorrow and not move around so much! It was so nice here today,73 and sunny,we were caged all day while Mom was gone! I hope its going to be nice like this tomorrow so we can go outside and get a shower and sit in the sunshine!
How funny is that to have your sweet Mom sound like a cuckoo clock when she answers you back! Oh BooBoo you sure know how to put a smile on my beak!

Mom is thinking we won't get blogs done today because BC is slower than usual. It's frustrating, too, because she has to work tonight.
This morning mom attended a lecture by one of the vertebrate paleontologists about the mastodon in the Carnegie collection. It's showing some wear and tear, so it's going to Paleolab where they will do what they can to repair the damage and remount it later in the year. More interesting was the news about a new simian in China, 55 million years old, which is older than any primate found to date. It kind of clinches that primates evolved in Asia and moved to Africa later on.
Tonight mom is working in Dinosaur Hall for an evening event, so we have to be quick. Also, Willie is playing for the Keets today. That means I'll be cheering for the Sluggers and Falco will be yelling for the Keets. Hope you are having a good day, hugs, Gizmo

You got 3 inches of rain in 15 min?? That must've just been a sheet of water falling. That must've flooded something. Oh, yeah the parronts have driven from pouring rain and then come out where it is clear, just never know.

The parronts don't really go to McDonalds anymore since skinsis is no longer lil and she doesn't go there much either. Why are they using modified potatoes? What's wrong with normal potatoes? Gotta be cheaper for 'em to buy and use. Really not sure that this modified stuff is safe in the long run so as you say avoiding it is a good idea.

Mom is not happy tonight. She believes someone is messing with her yahoo account and she can't log in. :( She is also very upset about who won The Voice.

They had fun earlier today. Tonight they went to a little kids concert for Auntie. More fun tomorrow!

That sounds like where we live! It may be snowing in the winter really hard here in the Mills,yet about 15 minutes away at Nana's house and town,it doesn't snow at all,and the same thing with the rain! How can it have precip in one area and then not far off down the road none at all?
Mom won't eat at McDonald's or burger King! And she doesn't eat french fries anymore,she loves sweet potato fries and anything to do with veggies,mainly raw or stir fried!

Didnt hear the latest of the milk on the eyes and will have to let us know how your mom liked that one. BC is soooooo slow tonight it’s a real pain in the tail feathers!!!
Mom had a dentist appointment today to get her permanent crowns on so her grocery day was a little mixed up. Mom said she doesn’t know how she got talked into going at the time they suggested cause it just threw her day all out of whack LOL. Well needless to say I bet the next time they suggest it she will tell them no way. The grocery store mom goes to is along the way to the dentist and too hot to leave things in the car while she was at the dentist so she had to make two trips that way today. The parront has not made it to Tampa yet. The person did not call her back yet. So she does not know yet if she finally will be going. She has been very busy lately. The computer is also giving her a hard time. She needs a new one.The weather is cloudy and it has rained lately. It is getting busy at the airport. She has the last test this Friday. She has to keep the proficiency in her job so they test yearly in different areas. This is all for know.

They did nothing special today, just some bowling and beach time. Mom sucked at bowling, but she did have lots of fun! Mom can't wait to show you the feather painting she's working on, but you have to wait until it's done. It's a blue and gold macaw painted across a bunch of b&g feathers. It looks great so far. (:

You Know You're a Bird Person When

You spend your last $5 on stuff for birdie bread even though payday is still four days away and the only thing left in the cabinet for you to eat is noodles and pop tarts.

GOLFING PARROT

A golfer took a vacation in Florida. He was a big bettor and always had at least $500 riding on each round. He asked at the pro shop if there was anyone around who liked a little competition, and the pro introduced him to a man named Joe.

"Is Joe a good golfer?" the man asked when Joe left to get his clubs.

"He doesn’t look that good but he always seems to win his matches," the pro replied.

The man met Joe on the first tee, and they agreed to play for $500. On the first tee, Joe hooked his drive into the water, and the vacationer won the hole. On the next hole, Joe topped his drive and then shanked his second shot into the trees. The man won that hole, too. On the next tee Joe took off his hat and scratched his head. When he did that, a big parrot flew up and lighted in a nearby tree. "Want to double the bet?" Joe asked.

"Sure," the vacationer said, already counting his winnings as he stepped up to the tee. On the top of his back swing, the parrot made a noise like a train whistle, and the vacationer wiffed the ball and lost the hole. On the next hole, which required a second shot over a pond, the vacationer selected his iron when the parrot said, "Five iron’s too much." The player changed to a six and hit it into the water. While the man was putting on one hole, the parrot said, "It breaks to the left," but the putt broke right. The man missed it to go three down. By the 18th hole, the vacationer was ten down to Joe and glaring at the bird.

"What do I need to do to get rid of that lousy parrot?" he said to nobody in particular.

"Just pay me $100 more than Joe does," the bird said.

Haha, it was blue sugar, and she looked like one of those little old blue haired ladies. It's good that she didn't see it until she was in the car, Haha, she was walking around downtown with blue hair!
We're here really late today and mom might not even finish our blogs. We all hope she does, of course. This morning it was birds, birds, birds at the center, followed by the recovery room, with turtles, pigeons, mallards, and a red tailed hawk. After the center, mom went to the pool where she met her friend from Munich. They ended up staying there later than mom usually does, planning pizza and wings for tonight. So, she came home, showered quickly, and went to buy stuff for salad and some dessert. Now it's our turn to blog, and hopefully we'll get some time tonight with company. what's this about poisen? Mom says shampoo you with Dawn dish liquid, not the one with bleach! Rinse and repeat! They use that to save birds that are caught in oil slicks! Call the vet! Pat you dry with a towel, and oh, did I mention, call the vet?
Tell your mom thanks for the honey information. She already knew and her uncle in Mebane used to raise honey and sell it! He had fifty hives. Mom used to help. She also used to read the Mother Earth News. Good info there! If honey crystalises, it just needs rehydrating. Less likely to crystalize if kept in a tightly closed jar in a cool dry, dark place. Like an Egyptian tomb!Hahahaha!!!!

Thanks for the tree info. Our dad's planted a few trees in our yard, one being the lemon tree, which is now huge.

Our mom hasn't gotten to the grocery yet to get cucumbers, but not sure she'll have it with onions as she doesn't enjoy 'em raw. Perhaps the sweet kind would be marginally acceptable, but she'll most likely have it with lettuce.

run around the yard hugging all the trees . . .

Only 4 more days of school for mom - hooray - and if healing continues the way it's been going, g'pa will be home on Wednesday ! Lots of tubes and wires were unhooked yesterday and his appetite is coming back . . . dad will probably stay at his parents' house the first few nights incase his mom needs help - so there'll still be a bit of "neglected Cookie bird" syndrome :(

We were supposed to have rain last night, but it never came . . . I hope it doesn't come while I'm home alone !

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads!

Today's activity was kayaking. Mom enjoyed it for about ten minutes, until grandma made her help paddle. Then she totally hated it. She said she felt like her arms were going to fall off. :P They were supposed to see a bunch of dolphins, but they only saw two and they were far away. Mom did take some pretty pictures for you guys to see! They are in my gallery.

SMART PARROT

A guy goes to a pet shop to buy a parrot. There he sees a parrot with a red string tied to its left leg and a green string tied to it's right leg. He asks the owner the significance of the strings.

"Well, this is a highly trained parrot. If you pull the red string he speaks French; if you pull the green string he speaks German," replies the shop keeper.

"And what happens if I pull both the strings?" our curious shopper inquires.

"I fall off my perch you fool!!" screeches the parrot.

Dad does feed the animals here every day so this was a bit of a bonus for them. We have two big rabbits and a baby one hanging around..they are neat to watch eh? Yesterday moms cousin came over and mom and her went to the craft store to meet their other scrap booking friends. Mom or her cousin didn’t get to scrap though cause moms cousin couldn’t stay long. Her husband had triple bypass surgery a while ago and she didn’t want to stay too long and mom never stays long either. It was nice to see everyone though mom said. “Live in love it will make your heart bloom like a flower…each petal touching someone”. V4U Your little lovie friend, Chi chi.

Thank you for telling me about the bird safe ant spray! My Mom will definitely go and check it out!It seems no matter what you do,keep the counters clean,no food or crumbs on the counter,nothing an ant could want and they're still there! Mom has chalk dust all over the counter,ants aren't supposed to like that but how do they get by it?
We are all wishing your Dad a Happy Father's Day! We do hope he had a great day and enjoyed some special things and even some good food! My Dad had to work the Fathers Day Car Show and Parade but he was home by 4:30 and my Mom made him a chicken calzone with provolone cheese and then she made him apple blueberry cherry crisp! Mom spent the day peeling and slicing and dicin 20 apples and pitting a whole bag of cherries to make it and then she made the calzone,while waiting for the laundry to dry on the line,then she took the laundry in because it looked like it was going to rain!
