Mom and dad were selling Kakariki babies and a woman (my birth mother) called them and said "That's not a parrot! I have parrots." They asked if she had any for sale...she said yes, three babies, not yet weened. I was the lucky one; they took me anyway and hand-fed me in an aquarium at home and in a box under dad's desk at work. Cramped....but WARM and cozy!.

Active within 1232 Days Hi! My name is Garcia I am a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon from St. Catharines, ON. They THINK I'm a male...huh! How would they know....they're too cheap to get me DNA'd. So, they call me "Monkey Boy" because they say I smell when I need a shower. Like I'm supposed to be able to turn the shower on. 18 years old M Double Yellow-Headed Amazon I kill for cookie dough. Give me a pea in the pod, I'll love you for life. Cherry tomatoes are just MADE for splattering. I like to hang out on the railing separating the kitchen from the family room, and in my maple tree in the back yard (summer only, obviously!) Don't bother scratching my head during mid-day...I'm a morning and night kinda guy! Hate my nails being clipped; you open that drawer with the clipper in it and I'M OUTTA HERE!!! They feed me pretty much whatever I want....but I'm still curious why they never give me that green avacaw.. .something. I do these cool Stevie Wonder "head-bobs" when they dance in front of me. (Makes them think THEY'RE the cool ones!) I take a few "swipes" at them when they walk by in the dark. (Just to let 'em know I'm not asleep yet, and not to try anything!) AND, I have this big "bird on" for the blond who lives behind us! For some reason, mom and dad can't figure this out. I'm a TOTAL chick magnet.. "Better to have a cookie and not need it than to need a cookie and not have it!"...I always say..

Garcia, Sorry I just pressed the wrong button and my message to you was lost forever. Probably somewhere out there in Cyber Space. Anyway...welcome to the club! I voted for you. My mom told me to tell your mom it might be a good idea to find out your sex. DNA testing isn't that expensive and she learned the hard way. My flock mate Popcorn (a Goffins Cockatoo)was thought to be a he and was actually a she. When he/she became egg bound, we lost valuable time before taking him/her to the vets, because it never occured that he/she was a she. :( Stop by anytime, it's always great to get to know another Double Yellow Headed Amazon.
