  Hello again friends!
Hi Danny, Renegade & Cody or can I call you "the beauty bunch" because you are all so beautiful! I enjoyed the story of the peacocks, I can't even imagine living somewhere that I would have peacocks in my yard. I am sad to hear about the baby that died but that must have been an awesome experience.

I hardy know anyone on my street, let alone the banks area--the name doesn't ring a bell. I knew "Benton's" on Greenfield. Their daughter Tammy was my best friend at All Saints. I hadn't seen her in years and just ran into her at Krogers in Essexville a couple of months ago. Do you know them? Keep in touch as I enjoy hearing from you!

Fiesta & Mom

Come visit me, Fiesta.

Good Morning Fiesta! I had relatives in the Banks area (Pletcher). Sound familiar at all? Who lived on Greenfield? We lived there for 20 years so maybe I know them.

The Peacocks...we have never had less than three. We've had as many as 15. Right now we have seven. They are beautiful but their habits are alot like a wild turkey. They hang around the house but every once in awhile they will take off flying into the woods. They will not breed if kept in captivity. The females will go out into the fields and lay their eggs on a fence line in the weeds. When they lay they will leave the nest if the rest of the brood doesn't hatch within a day or two. They will take what has hatched and find another place to stay. One year we found an abandoned nest and heard the babies peeping inside the eggs. The mother had left the nest the previous day with only one chick. We had company and there was enough of us to warm the 5 eggs in our hands. Slowing over the course of an hour or so we picked gently on the outside of the eggs as the check picked from the inside. The result was that all the eggs hatched. It was one of the greatest thrills I've ever had. To hold a chick while it came out has to be rare, let alone a peacock. We were able to reintroduce 4 chicks to the mother and she readily accepted them. But one poor chick was under developed and couldn't stand. So we kept him a couple of days with us until he was strong enough to stand. When we tried to get Mommy to take him, she would have nothing to do with him and he kept coming back to us. I guess he had imprinted with us. He lived another couple of weeks and then he ate a moth that must have poisoned him because within an hour he was dead.
The Peacocks roost in a huge old Willow tree every night. During the day they wonder around the yard. In the spring they eat some of my flower buds and on the hot summer days they lay on some of the daylillys and other larger plants. It doesn't make me happy as gardening is a joy for me. But when I get upset, I just remember that I don't believe there is any flower that is as beautiful as a male Peacock fanned.

I'm sorry my reply is so long but once I get to talking "Peacock" I get carried away.

Come visit again, We are really enjoying your company.

Danny

Good Morning Fiesta, Thanks for stopping by and for the invitation to visit you in Bay City (I changed your spelling) :) How is your weather "down there"? We have winds gusting to 30 mph and snow. Of course with those winds the snow is drifting. It's cold too. We don't make it to Bay City very much anymore (we no longer have family living there). But last year we drove thru and were quite amazed at the changes that had taken place since we left 17 years ago. We used to live on Greenfield Court (behind the State Police Post off of Euclid). Lots of changes in that area! It is so nice to meet
a new friend especially from the town we grow up in. Oh did I mention that you are a beautiful Quaker. Mom has always wanted a Quaker. Hope to hear from you soon.

What a privilege it is to meet you Fiesta! My mom, dad and I are from Bay City too! But we moved to Cheboygan about 16 years. The rest of my flock didn't join us until we moved here. Mom says where you were born is where you are from. We're so glad you joined the club and hope we can be friends.
Please stop by and visit us. Oh I forgot, I voted for you :)

  A WARM WELCOME FROM FINNEGAN
Hi Fiesta, I want to extend a very warm welcome to you. We are practically neighbors! I live in White Lake. The Bird Channel is a fun place to be, with lots to do and learn, and many wonderful friends to be made. I hope you'll be one of mine and Lucy's. Lucy is my fister and she's a blue quaker. I'm leaving a vote for you. And I'd be very grateful if you flew by my page and left me a vote, too. You see, I'm running for BOTW (Bird Of The Week) this week. You just click on that little "vote" button on the top of my page. It would be especially nice if you could do it everyday. Thanks a million.

Come visit me, Mr. Finnegan, Daisy - R.I.P. - BOTW 9/17-9/23/07 & Miss Lucy Blue.
