 we get daisy and her beau, jack, a couple of months after we got maxine, from the same person. she & her boyfriend were breaking up, and she was moving out. guess what... her new place wouldn't allow birds! since daisy is a special-needs feather-chewer, her previous owner wanted to be sure that she was placed in a capable home. she remembered us from adopting maxine and asked us to take this special baby (and her mate, of course). when you rescue, what can you say..?. |

Hope you get over chewing your feathers. My quaker pretty much is stuck in a collar for life. I let him have it off for a couple weeks and he has no feathers and sores. May you do much better. What a beautiful girl you are. I hope getting the blood levels of calcium regulated weill help with your feather chewing, I have a flock mate that plucks her feathers and she has to wear a collar to. She is a cockatoo. I am a cockatiel named Val.

Welcome to bird channel. Here is a big vote for you from another feather chewer. My name is Susan. How do you like wearing that collar? Does that help? Your feathers don't really look chewed up right now. How long have you had the collar on for? Any info that you can provide us with regarding feather mutilation will be helpful. We adopted Susan in June 2009 and she loves to pull and pluck at her feathers. We adopted her from a foster home, so we are not sure why she does this. She did grow in beatiful feathers for a few months, but then when the weather got cold, she started plucking at them again. Fly on in for a visit.
