 Before I came along, my mom had 2 half-moon conures, Tango and Cash. She got them when they were 12 weeks old and hand fed them. She loved them dearly and kne what every little squeek and squawk meant. They were brother and sister, so they often liked to fuss like brother and sister! Tango loved to pick at Cash by nipping at his foot. Cash would get tired of Tango doing this and squawk at her. Then Tango would squawk back at Cash. As you can see, the arguing would begin! My mom ended up having to find another home for them, since my dad could not tolerate the high-pitched squawking. My mom cried for days, but decided that she was not going to give up that easy! She got online and began her search for a quieter bird, and found ME!! She drove a long way to get me one night in sleet and rain, because she was determined! We have been inseperable ever since! My mom just about has me figured out like she did Tango and Cash. She still misses them a lot, but has me to keep her laughing, which keeps her spirits up! I think God knew we needed each other, and THAT'S how we met!!. |

Hi, I'm a lorikeet too! Sorry not to have introduced myself earlier to you. I live down under in Australia. I am an Australian native red ring necked rainbow lorikeet. My Mum says I'm as mad as a hatter! She loves me dearly. I like to do all the usual things that us lorikeets do. I talk alot too. My Mum and I have whistling competitions. One starts and the other must immitate, the whistle changes each time. My Mum is really good for a human. Well I hope you will visit me sometime soon. I have to go do my vocabulary lessons in my biscuit tin (where else would one go?). Byeee 4 now, Love Ollie xCome visit me, Ollie.

Hey Lori & Mom ~
That's cute that you like to say your name. Skittle knew how to say her name. Like I say - you lories are very smart birds! I usually bought different flavors of yogurt - strawberry was Skittles favorite. I gave it to her like a treat...few times a week. Wasn't sure how you were keeping the nectar from your walls, floor, etc. when Lori eats, but I put up plexiglass on three sides of the cage. The only side that didn't have it was the side where the door of the cage was. It really helped with keeping the nectar in the cage & not every where else. One of Skittles favorite toys was the wiffle ball - the ball with holes & a bell in it. Look forward to knowing more about Miss Lori ~ she's a beautiful bird! Glad we're going to be friends! Mom will be more than happy to help your mom however she can. She never ate pellets - mom gave them to her, but she never touched them. Skittles did love her nectar - dry & wet along with hard boiled egg & yogurt. Grapes were her favorite fruit. She loved to play in her water bowl. She would jump from the side of her cage into the bowl & splash & hollar. She loved playing in the water. Do you talk? If so, what have you learned? Skittles talked a lot ~ Bet you do too. Thank you for visiting me, and welcome to our channel.
I now have a lot friends in my flock at home, there is 6 budgies, 4 Jenday's, 4 Sun Conures, Attie, Sonny, Shakira and Regus, and Sam the love bird, and of course I myself, Star.
My mom is looking for a boyfriend for me, but so far she's not had much luck.
We have our own room in the house, and it does get rather noisy, especially with the Conure's.
My mom is busy hand-rearing 3 baby suns 3 cockatiels and
one baby budgie. in another room. She also has 6 outside aviaries, that have Ringnecks, Plumheads, Cockatiel's and Sun Conure's. So it is very busy here. I have voted for you as a welcome.Come visit me, Sonny, Star, Chips, Attie & Baby.
