 **UPDATE: Yoogoos has died. He was found two days ago curled up in his seed bowl, he passed away peacefully from old age. Only the previous day he had a vet check and was cleared of any signs of illness but due to his sudden drop in energy and trouble pooing he was put on precautionary antibiotics. It is such a shock. My heart is broken, my reason to smile is gone.**
***Gradually my sight got worse over the year so I am now blind and cant see. This is due to cataracts, and also neurological problems I am having - the vet suspects I either have a brain tumor, which might be cancerous, or I am having mini strokes. My head ticks mildly all the time, but other than that I am in great health, my feathers are beautiful, my weight is great and my year long battle with the 'flu' has cleared up completely.
My birth date noted on my page is estimated as I am much older than my reunion with my forever mom, which was in 2004. According to my vet I am a very old bird, potentially older than ten. This is approximated due to my health problems. I have cataracts and a flu type illness that constantly causes me problems, it showed around two years ago. As a result I require extra special care - I live on the floor of my cage, and perch on my three food bowls or a native perch that sits on the floor of the cage. I navigate the cage very well but people are not allowed to change things, and ever since these complications started I now wont eat my greens and hardly touch my egg treat. Momma also has to wash my tail feathers and bottom feathers because living on the floor means these get dirty no matter how many cleans my cage gets. My mom needs to keep a sharp eye on me but she is more than happy to give me as much love and extra care as I need.... she says although I am blind my eyes remain as beautiful as they have always been. Yoogoos was literally 'picked' off our front fence by my brother. One sunny beautiful day while leaving to go to university, my brother was shocked to see a beautiful little yellow canary out the front sitting on our fence. He was dazed and confused and looking into the sun. My brother went over to the fence and quickly picked him up in his hands and then went to the garage to get a birdcage. All through the commotion of getting his new house prepared and while being held in the hands of this big stranger, little Yoogs was cool calm and collected.. |

 Yoog, Yoogs, Oogoos, Oog, Oogs, Ooloosh, Ool, Ools, Oogoosh, Oogloinst, Yoogoosh, Hooops, Ooboops, Yoogoo oogoo, Oogoolasimba (no relation to that awful Disney film!) and Golden Slumber when I am sleeping.

 On the treasure chest in the lounge room in front of a sunny window in my own cosy corner, and outside in the sun when my mum and uncles take me out where they are!
 When my naughty younger brother Percy flies up onto my cage and invades my personal space, and when he squawks over my singing, also when the White Plumed Honey Eater Gang decide that they can harass me when mum takes her eye off me for one second when I am outside! And especially when people pronounce my name 'you goose', when it's pronounced 'yooh-goohss'! How rude! When people speak loud around me and ignorant visitors look at me like I'm just a silly little yellow bird, they are the silly ones, and I possess far more beauty and mental abilities than they do!
 The fact that she is so kind and loving, fusses over my health and safety all the time, spends lots of time with me, takes me places and gives me and my brother equal love and attention, and most importantly, if any one owns anyone, its I that own her! But in reality I am her son, so no one owns anyone, as we are a family.
 Chirping back when my family members whistle to me or call my name, being a really strong minded little man who's not even that fussed by being grabbed by the vet!.
 If its fresh and green or even yellow, I'll eat it!.

HELLO EVERYONE ITS YOOGOOS AND PERCY HERE IM SO SORRY ME AND MOMMA HAVE BEEN AWAY BUT SHE IS VERY VERY SICK AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CLEAN US OR LOOK AFTER HERSELF SO GRAMMIE IS DOING ALL THE WORK BOTH LOOKING AFTER US AND MOMMA. How's It Going?
We haven't heard from you for awhile, so we thought we would stop and make sure everything is going OK. Are you getting any stronger? How is mom doing? We really hope everything is going good for you and your family.
It's finally starting to warm up and we've got to go outside a few times. That was nice. Our dog sister got sprayed by a skunk today. Mom told us that we were really lucky not to have a good sense of smell. She has been trying to get the smell out of the house, but has to be careful with most deodorizers because of us birds.

Just stopping by to check on our little fighter. Are you still getting stronger everyday? We sure hope so. Did Percy take all of you to the castle with him, and if so, what do you think of it?

Tell me about your troubles. Has your song grown weaker? Tired? Weary? Is it age that's making life more like work than a party? Nobody really knows how old you are as you made a surprise arrival at your place a number of years ago. I would like to think that you were just a youngster when you moved in and that you have many years yet to sing and twitter.

How are you feeling?
It's been a few days, so we thought that we would stop by and see how our favorite little canary is doing. We hope that the medicine is doing its job and that you're starting to feel a little better.
