 My first daddy and I lived in his house together, just the two of us. Then one day he had a heart attack. All of a sudden I was all alone in Daddy’s house, with only occasional visits from Daddy’s son to give me fresh food and water, and maybe visit for a little while. Daddy was gone for a long time when finally one day, my family told me that Daddy couldn’t take care of me any more and that he wanted to find a really good new family for me to live with. ~~ My new dad was looking on Craig’s list one day and saw the ad that talked about me. Mom had wanted a Lilac-Crowned Amazon for several years. Dad couldn’t resist. So he called my family and made an appointment for him and Mom to meet me. (Actually, they were SUPPOSED to be looking for a new bird for a friend of theirs, but that all changed as soon as they saw me!) ~~ So they packed up all my stuff and I said goodbye to my old house, not really knowing why I was leaving, let alone with these strange humans. When we got to my new home, there were all kinds of other birdies there to greet me! And they all squawked to me and told me about how much fun I was going to have now that I was a part of something called the K Kritter Korral. I think I believe them!

(Some silly rule Mom has about her fids having three names! …WHATEVER But Mom usually ends up calling me just Billie, or Billie Boop, or Beej, or BJ, or Noisy Beak, or whatever she can think up that’s appropriate to what I’m doing in the moment. Almonds!!! (I can crack the shell on those all by myself!) And (when Mom raps the shells with pliers first) pecans, walnuts, filberts, and even Brazil nuts; Animal Crackers were new for me in my new flock, but now I scream for them whenever I see the container; HoneyNut Cheerios; and there’s bound to be more the way they eat around here!
 If there’s a playstand I can get to … I’M THERE! But, when my cage is the only option, I’m ALL OVER IT!!!
 Being surprised! You want to hear an Amazon GROWL? Just come up behind me sometime. Or … try to make me step up! You’re not my daddy? You’re not my perch!
 They have all these birdies for me to talk to and learn from. Mom really does want me to be comfortable and feel safe in my new home. She doesn’t push me to do anything I don’t feel comfortable with. She let’s me set my own pace. But she won’t let me get away with some of my old spoiled birdy behaviors either. I have to live by the same rules as everybirdy else.
 I will give Mom kisses from my cage when I’m playing outside of it, but I won’t step up for her from anywhere but the floor..
 When Life gives you lemons, make lemonade!
Even though I’m still a little confused about why I don’t see my daddy anymore, I’m a happy little birdie in my new flockily with my new mom and dad who are very patient and encouraging, and are just letting me adjust to my new life at my own pace..

First I want to say that I sure hope you and your family are safe tonight. There's so many nasty storms brewing in and around your home, I'm honestly quite worried about you. Hang on tight and keep your head low.
As I'm sure you know seeing as the schedule was made right there in your home that we've got our first game tomorrow!! Yippee, we're finally going to get to play. ...today I am calling our last pre-season practice and workout before opening day, and it will be at Kevlar Field! We are a good team, but there are a lot of good teams this year, and the only way we can get a step up on them, is to practice hard! We all need it, myself included! Alfie, Sugar, and I are calling a Raider's light work out and practice at theBB field, for Thursday and Friday, between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM! We'll run some laps, do some jumping jacks, squats, and sit-ups, and other light stretching exercises and when you are warmed up, find somebody to play catch with! Although this is an informal practice session, I want you all to take it seriously, I want to be able to count on you during long grueling games! My dear Billy Jo, so sorry if my Hatchday wish...
...sounded offensive, it certainly was not meant to be! I was throwing a friendly little dart at my dear aunt Eva, my beloved baseball commissioner! That chic needs birds like me to keep her thinking straight, and her of all people should know by now that I love her very much, and I would do nothing that would offend her and her note writing, my daddy and I know exactly where she is coming from, and we would like to consider ourselves on her side! However, that is not to say that I won't have words with her during the season! Just Like RaneBeau, I want our fabulous Raiders to 'show pretty', on and off the field, we are, after all, Amazon Rainforest Raiders moving in the sacred shadows of our precious Asha, Mozart, and uncle Timmer! Tell the Kommish I promise not to slash any of her tires this year, and be a better sport about the calls she misses, and I will stop writing on the men's room walls, "for a good time call 1-800 the komish"! That's terrific news about you learning to step up! You'll be glad you did, trust me! We had a 'tiel here who was so scared he never wanted to come out of his cage, but he and mom had a good relationship anyway. She would sit by him, talk to him, and they would whistle back and forth. We were all sad when Buddy passed away, but we knew we had done our best for him. But your news is happy! Is that a new hat I see in your gallery? Is it for the derby this year? First off and right away, I'm honored to be here on your page in avatar form. It's certainly okay with me that you absconded off with it. I wasn't doing much with it anyway. :) Truth be told, it's nice to be in Mo's company again. Sometimes him so much I feel more blue than Amazon green. Do you ever feel that way about anything? The fact you're stepping up for your Momma more these days says to me that you may well be feeling a spring in your step! That could sort of be a pun, couldn't it. Wow, I almost made a funny! Hello Miss Billie
Oh my. Your profile picture, it's, well, stirred up some latent emotions. There are days I miss that Mo so much, it hurts. I try and keep busy but during those times in a day when I was used to doing stuff with him, I find myself feeling quite lonely. That Jungle-Call time is the worst. It's just no fun to work up a racket all by yourself. And so I don't most of the time but every once in awhile I forget and give it a try, only to be reminded it's not the same without Mozart. You were always so sweet to him, something I know made him feel extra special. Thanks for that, Billie Jo.
I'm here because I just saw the OFFICIAL list of the 2013 RAINFOREST RAIDERS team and with you there in the short field position, I say we're going to have the best year ever! With Elvis on first and me and second, there's no hope of a ball getting by the three of us! No way!

I dare say, something must be in the air that's affecting us Amazons. I too have felt an overwhelming desire to be in closer contact with my mom. Whatever it is that's inspiring us to make the human connection, I think it's a good thing, Billie Jo. A very good thing. I bet your momma's still all smiles over the treat of your company yesterday. I know I would be if a pretty little girl like you chose to come with me. Something tells me you're going to surprise her again, and in the near future. We get a taste of closeness with a special human and find we want more of it.

... for your company. And the flowers too. They're beautiful. I'm sure Mo would say the same, that the flowers are beautiful and your company's a pleasure, but I also think he'd say that you're a beauty too. He was a Zon of few words. Actually, I never heard him say a single human word or sound affect. I suspect, had he had more time, he'd have learned that handy little wolf whistle we boyz like to toss out to a pretty girl. It would've come in handy in letting you know he thoughy you were wonderful.

Thanks for being a special friend to Mo, or rather Mr. Mozart as I heard you calling him. I know your admiration of him made him feel a kind of special he'd not felt in a long, long time, if ever. Your friendship was very likely a wind beneath his flightless wings. I know you made his heart soar with happiness! There were times after a baseball game it almost seemed as if that guy skipped home instead of limped. Thanks for how you lifted his spirits.
Thanks to for sharing in this miserable feeling of missing Mo. It's not so painful when there's company in the sadness.
