  Heya, Willie!
Yeah, things have to get fixed, don't they? Stoves are not cheap from what Mom sees. She rents, and she would love a new refrigerator, but that is not gonna happen until this one gives up the ghost. At least she doesn't have to pay for it!! And those cabinets sound good--dark is fine for a big kitchen but if it is not, the lighter color ones are super.

Nice today but chilly. Rain tomorrow. Mom is working from home tomorrow cuz she is taking the car in for a checkup. Guess who is happy that she is home?

That food sounds great to me...send some this way on Easter!

  Hi Willie
We are enjoying another bright sunny morning here with the temperatures of 39 degrees, our highs being 42 and our lows will be 29.Its really windy out there right now also.Mom got us all up early this morning and cleaned our cages and room and then we got our warm bean mix.She will be home for the day so she will be able to catch up on the house chores that seem to keep piling up on her and maybe make a decent dinner for my dad.Mom will be spending the day getting as much done in the house as she can at least start cleaning the whole downstairs.Mom was busy today cleaning the upstairs bathroom, then the downstairs bathroom and then she found something to make for dinner for tonight and got a good idea for what to make for my dad for a change instead of grabbing something fast and quick. Then skin bro came over and stayed awhile and played with Candida,he has another interview to go to tomorrow for Bouse House, and Mom is curious as to what he will be doing there? That's a port-a- potty company here. They are desperate for someone to work for them as they will interview you from 6:15am til 4:00.Its full time all year round and pays $15.00 and hour. Then my dad came by to pick up the taxes to take them to the office in Hyannis to be processed and that took some time out of Mom's day. Other than that nothing exciting is happening here. The VNA came over to give Nana a shower today and yesterday the PT VNA took her outside for a walk with her cane in her driveway and around to the side of her garage and house and she saw some of the crocus's coming up there.Nana is so pushing herself so she can get back to where she was before she fell and they are all working her hard with her PT exercises.
Other than that there's nothing much else going on here, just another quiet boring day which both me and Mom love as we haven't been this quiet in weeks now!
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses!Loving you always and forever, sweet Willie,Love Peepers

I hope you had a fun day! Mom and I watched Into the Woods today. It was pretty lame! Jennifer just loves it but it was not very entertaining at all. Jennifer loves musicals and mom likes them too but not this one. Don't think mom would like the stage production either. There really wasn't any memorable music either.

  Hi Willie
A APRILS FOOLS DAY STORY- BELIEVE IT OR NOT
in trying to encompass my blogs for my campaign i have come up with this-----
the greatest thing you can do to reduce carbon emissions and combat global warming is to stop eating meat and go veggie. if the desire for meat is to overwhelming try roadkill. it is very plentiful and found along all roadways and doesn't cause horrific suffering at slaughterhouses. also remember to save your poop for future heat and fuel resources. also all CEO's of Exxon, Shell, BP,etc, Monsanto & Dupont are aliens from another planet intent on destroying earth as we now know it, by their fracking, constant oil spills, pipelines, non-stop plastic containers, chemicals and complete contamination of our drinking and water supplies.. they are very prolific and their offspring are Keurig K-Cups which live on a floating waste pile of plastic, in the Pacific Ocean, which is twice the size of Texas. if the K-Cups were lined up they would encompass the earth 10Xs. Alex from the LaHabra Flock asked about killer Bees. Killer Bees were introduced into Brazil in the mid 1950's by a scientist trying to breed a bee pollinator that was better suited to tropical places. the killer bees do pollinate but they also tried to kill all the native honeybees. Monsanto and Dupont gleefully said they would help by developing a poison so toxic it not only kills all the bees but the trees and plants as well. since this was hurting the Mexican drug cartels profits they have banned the poison in Mexico. to this day the US government is still spraying in south and central america in the 1980s a few killer bees hitched a ride on a Brazilian oil freighter and landed in Southern California where once again the conquering bees tried to wipe out the native bees. a few bees managed to mate with some of the native queen bees producing offspring that aren't as warrior like as the killers but not sweet like a honey bee but they are still pollinating so leave them alone. the month of April is hug a tree month so if you can't plant a tree go hug one and keep developers from chopping more down for shopping malls
HAPPY HUMPDAY

  Hi Willie
This morning was a bright sunny morning and the highs for the day would be 50 and the lows will be 32.Right now its 41.Skin bro came for Mom around 7:30 this morning and she woke us up and cleaned our cages and quickly swept our room and fed us our warm bean mix and then packed me,( Dixie) up and they took off to Nana's house. When they got there she put me,(Dixie)into the cage he has there and then Nana got some waffles and an orange for breakfast for the four of them as skin sis met us there, and they had some tea. Then Mom and Nana began to make the Easter bread for Sunday and after they got the dough mixed up,Nana had skin sis put it out in her solar room as it was very warm out there for the dough to rise. Then Mom,skin sis, skin bro all took off to do some shopping for Nana at Market Basket.Nana was waiting for her PT VNA to come.Market Basket was crowded as usual when they got there but they quickly got most of all the items that Nana had wanted and Mom even picked up a rum cake for Easter dessert.Mom picked up ten boxes of margarine for baking which were on sale for 0.88 cents,a nice large garden tomato, gatorade for dad for the summer for 0.25 cents among some other items which were on sale. Then they went back to Nana's and the dough had risen really well and Nana had shaped the Easter Bread into braids and Mom put it in the oven for her. Then they had lunch of salad with the fresh tomato that Mom bought, salsa and some chips and were getting ready to sit down to eat when another OT came in.She did her thing with Nana making sure that Nana didn't need her for a longer period of time. She will come into next week sometime but after that she finds no reason to be coming as Nana is really doing well. By the time they got done with lunch it was close to 4:00pm and they planned on making the ravioli's on Friday.Mom then got the vacuum after cleaning up the kitchen and then vacuumed the whole downstairs for Nana. Our cousin Bella hated that vacuum and growled and screamed the whole time Mom was in the Bird Room.By the time Mom was done vacuuming it was five and time to go home to make dinner for my dad and to get us all cleaned and fed for the night.Skin bro took Mom home and skin sis left to go to her place.Mom made dinner for my dad, cleaned our cages and fed us a small dinner(Dad had given us our snacks) and now Mom is done doing the dishes and we are having our turn to visit all our friends!

That is so cool to be able to have things like that to put in that cart! I know Mom would be fascinated to check out the museum and take your Mom's tours!!

Sunny day, around 50 today. Mom says it was great to walk outside, and to the park overlooking the lake front. Water was super blue, too! I hope she takes me down there one day when it gets warm out so I can see the water. She says she wants to do that. And you know I will love going anyplace with her.

  Hi Willie
Birds can be helpful to each other in many ways. The most familiar form of cooperation is when an owl or hawk appears in the neighborhood, causing every songbird within a quarter of a mile to sound alarm calls and even dive at the predator. Perhaps the most interesting form of help is when young birds of the first brood of the year help their parents raise the second brood of the year. There have been many reports of juvenile eastern bluebirds carrying food to the nesting houses containing their parents’ second brood.American crows and Florida scrub-jays demonstrate some of the same cooperative behavior, when sexually immature one-year-olds help their parents gather nesting material, protect the territory, and carry food for the next generation.Cooperation occurs among acorn woodpeckers of the Far West, when groups of up to 10 birds live together, year-round, jointly defending the communal territory, gathering food, and together incubating eggs and feeding the nestlings of each pair in the group.

Sometimes birds of different species lay eggs in the same nest. This has happened among American robins and northern cardinals. The two species take turns incubating eggs, sometimes sitting side-by-side, and jointly feed the young when they hatch. There are also adoptions. For example, a male Carolina wren started feeding an incubating female house wren. When the eggs hatched, the male Carolina continued by feeding the babies, causing both of the true parents to desert, leaving the rearing of their young to the foster father.

This is my last day of my campaign and I want to thank all of you for your help in making my campaign a success. it has been so much fun visiting with each of you every day. i apologize for not being able to answer all your comments individually but i did read every one and enjoyed them very much. i love you all so much.

This morning was another dark dismal day with our temperatures highs being 42 and the lows being 33.Right now its 37 and fairly cold.Skin bro came and picked Mom up at around 8:00am this morning. So Mom really had no time to do much of anything except to clean all our cages quickly and feed us all. Then she collected the trash and recyclables and skin bro loaded them in his car while she got Dixie in his carrier and wrapped him with a blanket. When they got to Nana's Mom got Dixie settled in his cage there and set his food bowl down for him and he immediately started eating then skin bro and Mom collected Nana's trash and recyclables and they loaded them in Nana's car and they went to the dump, when they came back the VNA came to work out with Nana. The VNA had Nana walking over and over around her house with a cane. They are trying to get her out of the walker. But she is not to use the cane when the VNA is not there and she is not to go outside yet as the ground is too uneven and Nana promises she isn't going to try as she doesn't want land back in the hospital or rehab again!Mom and Nana were supposed to try and make at least one loaf of Easter Bread for Easter but that never happened so if Mom makes it over to Nana's earlier tomorrow they can start it then,Nana will mix all the ingredients and Mom will do the kneading. Then skin bro is going to take Mom grocery shopping at Market Basket to pick up some things for Easter dinner. They both have no idea what they will have for Easter dinner this year as Nana isn't feeling well with her broken hip,Nana doesn't know if they can make ravioli's.Mom said she wouldn't mind trying to make them as she's been helping make them for a while now. After they left Nana's skin bro drove Mom into Falmouth and he bought Mom and himself a medium blizzard at DQ and then he took Mom to the Dollar Tree to get our dad some funnels that he needed. Then he took Mom home and it started to rain again and got dark as night. When Mom got home she made dinner for my dad, cleaned all our cages and dad had already given us our snack and put our light on for us and filled our humidifier.

Well, gotta say it was a sort of nice day today. Rain came this afternoon. Great day to nap, only Mom was at work. So I had to nap in my house. Perfectly okay though. Mom says she would have loved to be able to take a nap--with work winding down, there is not a lot for her to do, and she is bored. Guess it could be worse, huh? Getting paid for being bored!? Ha.

  Hi Willie
this is a continuation of birds intelligence from blog on 3-27. we messed up on the order.
Examples of bird intelligence include…
Carrion crows in Japan that deliberately place nuts in roadways, wait for cars to crush the nuts then retrieve the nut meats, all while coordinating around traffic lights to keep safe.
Woodpecker finches in the Galapagos Islands that trim sticks to the proper length for use as tools to forage for insects.
Green herons and other heron species that use bread fed to ducks or picnic leftovers as bait to attract fish for their hunting.
Blue tits in the 1920s that learned which color of milk caps on delivered milk had the most cream (whole milk) and pierced those caps to drink the cream.
Western scrub-jays that hold funerals for dead birds by making loud noises and avoiding the corpse, behavior that may be warning other birds of fatal threats.
Northern mockingbirds that recognize individuals who may be a threat to their nests and will attack only those individuals rather than attacking all passersby indiscriminately.
Aplomado falcons that hunt cooperatively in pairs and thereby increase their hunting success by a large margin through this teamwork.
Jays that cache hundreds of seeds and nuts in fall and manage to retrieve the majority of them over the course of the winter, exhibiting great recall for their hiding places.
Other well known examples of bird intelligence that could be attributed to instinct but still show at least some higher mental capability include:
Amazing nest architecture with intricate construction
Returning to the same ranges, even the same nests, for many years
Ability to navigate migration safely despite changing landmarks
Play behaviors, including taunting cats or playing with objects for entertainment
Recognizing who refills feeders and interacting with that person
Curiosity when responding to pishing or investigating new stimuli
Showing emotions through courtship, caring for nestlings, etc.
Some Are Smart, Some Are Stupid
Like any animal, not all birds are equally intelligent. Ornithologists generally agree that corvids (jays, ravens, crows, rooks, jackdaws, etc.) and parrots are among the smartest bird species and that social, gregarious birds often exhibit more intelligent behavior than solitary species. Still, every backyard birder has seen that one "stupid" bird at their feeders who just can't figure anything out, while another bird of the same species seems to be an Einstein in comparison. Watching birds and witnessing their intelligent behavior can be a joy for backyard birders, and learning more about bird intelligence in quantifiable ways is sure to keep ornithologists busy for decades to come.
THANKYOU FOR YOUR VOTE

  Hi Willie,
Thanks for coming with me to the vets.

I didnt like the part when they took me in the back to take my blood. :(

Mom didn't hear me scream so I guess that was kinda good.

This test will show if my kidneys or liver is infected. Also it'll check for diabetes too.

The vet told mom he could get the results by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

My bill broke moms bank account, she didnt have enough on her credit card so she had to do a half from the savings to her checking and also used what was left on another credit card.

I sure hope we get some good results and that what I have is easily treatable.

I'll let you know when I get my test results back.

Wow...that sounds like an awesome tour your mom had today!
Sorry so short. Mom is just trying to get my blogs done before bedtime!

  Hi Willie
My Mom is so non stop busy its getting ridiculous! If its not one thing around here its another!
This morning was a bright sunny morning with the highs being 36 and the lows of 30.Its 28 right now.Mom got us up and cleaned our cages and fed us and then skin sis came over around 9:30 this morning with me and Celine.Mom got us set up in a spare cage and then Mom,Dad and skin sis took off for IHOP as my dad had been wanting to try their criss cross croissants so they went and had them, then dad took them through the car wash to see all the pretty colors of the soap as it went on the windows of the car, looking like a rainbow. When they came home,Mom did birdie cures on every birdie, nails, beaks and flights and then skin sis wanted to bake something with Mom as this would be her last time to do so as she's going in for surgery next week.So they made seven layer cookies, cherry dump pie,and mock pumpkin pie.Mom gave skin sis half of what they baked to take home with her and skin sis left around 5:30pm.Mom cleaned up the kitchen and all the baking dishes and mixing bowls and utensils.
They both attended Mario's Memorial and it was just so beautiful, tears were coursing down both Mom and skin sis's faces,it was such a beautiful ceremony and all of us including Mom and skin sis are so thankful to all those involved with making it such a wonderful and special time.We all just can't thank you enough for all the outpouring of love and caring you have given us here, you have put the sun back in the sky for us and in our hearts.
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses!Loving you always and forever, sweet Wille,Love Peepers

  Heya, Willie!
Squakatiel x 3 so far.

No bump, just bald. Mom says my part kinda matches hers, though she has a few strands of hair where my feathers are gone. Yeah, she has that old lady thin hair thing. Me? I am doing fine. Eating and stuff. And taking advantage of Mom's shoulder a lot!

Not much happening here. It was a lovely day with Mom. Colder, with winds that gusted to 40 mph. Sounded like winter when you were near the window in Mom's bedroom. Nice and toasty inside though.

We stopped over at Mario's memorial too, but think we mixed up the times. In any case, we did get there and it was lovely.

Wing hugs from your buddy,
Kaji

I never knew that sharpies weren't permanent and could cause damage.I bet many people use them to write on cd's and such I know my mom has. Thanks for the info.

  Hi Willie
The Purpose of Play
All play that wild birds may use helps them develop necessary survival skills. Even adult birds may continue to play and refine their abilities, though not necessarily with the same frequency as juvenile birds play.
Manipulation play helps birds get more coordinated to build nests, capture prey or extract food from different sources. This type of play keeps bills and talons in good condition and builds up the necessary muscle strength and dexterity for intricate actions.
Investigation play teaches young birds about the world they inhabit, including edible and inedible foods and what objects are safe to touch. As birds investigate more, they refine their ability to cache objects and develop their senses.
Chasing play strengthens wing muscles and helps young birds develop greater agility in the air, or for terrestrial birds, strengthens their legs and helps them be more agile when running. This also helps carnivorous birds develop sharper hunting skills.
Taunting play sharpens a bird's reflexes and increases their agility. It also helps them learn to anticipate prey reactions or how to avoid predators, and will be useful for mobbing behaviors or defending their territory.
Balancing play strengthens foot and leg muscles and helps birds learn how to use their wings to counterbalance air currents or disruptions. Balancing can also be useful for different types of foraging or courtship displays.
Curiosity play teaches birds more about their world, expanding their knowledge of both threats and benefits and helping them react to the unexpected. Curious birds can be more adaptable and will be more successful when encountering changes in their habitat.
Mimicry behavior teaches young birds how to act like adults of their species and learn essential skills such as proper sounds and songs or how to use their unique bills or other physical attributes to the best effect.
While different play behaviors all have a purpose in helping birds survive, some birds do seem to play just for the sheer joy and fun of the activity. As with many types of bird behaviors, the exact purpose of all play is not yet understood, even by dedicated ornithologists, but birders can still enjoy watching the playful behavior of birds. Every time they see their feathered friends engage in another game, they learn just a bit more about birds even as the playing birds are learning more about their world.

  Hi Willie~
I hope you are having a great day! Congrats on the prize from the milonga! It really is a great picture.
Mom doesn't have to go pick Jennifer up. Usually she gets a ride home from her dad's best friend. He goes to visit on Sunday and lives up here. This week he is out of town so Jennifer's brother in law, David, is going to drive her home. He's Maddie's dad.
Enjoy the day!

  Hey Willie!
That is so sad about the birds that had to be put down at the center. Sounds like they lived a nice long life....but still......I'm sure they will be missed.
Did not know that sharpies were not permanent.......and could damage CDs ! Mom has a ton of CDs that she has written on with sharpies!
Wasn't the Milonga fun last night? Always a good time!
Have a great day!

  Hi Willie
I have missed you so much and I have been leaving votes for you til I could come back and see you,its just been so crazy around here lately and Mom is so tired, she was so happy to get the day off today and possibly tomorrow also, she wants to be at Mario's Celebration for life services.
This morning was another dark, dreary, dismal pouring rainy day here and then by late morning it all turned to snow, with big heavy flakes coming down, our highs for the day will be 34 and our lows will be 28. Its 34 right now with those big flakes of snow still coming down. Its not sticking to much just the lawns and not the deck or the walkway or the street which is good.Mom was busy today cleaning our cages and room, then she vacuumed the whole downstairs of the house and kept trying to get Dixie to eat.Ever since Mario flew to Rainbow Bridge he stopped eating.Mom has the day off today so she will be spending more time with us between playing catch up with the house chores. Its going to be an uneventful day here and that's just what we need right now,for Mom to stay home with us and not have to leave. We haven't had one of these days in quite some time now!
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm birdie hugs and soft beakie kisses!Loving you always and forever, sweet Willie,Love,Peepers

  Heya, Willie!
Yeah, Mom figures she has a little time to figure out what she will need to do. She is feeling sad though, as she did really love her job. Guess when others don't have work and they are employees...guess who gets to go? Right now she is just tired.

Awww, how sad about Quincy and Danny. They had a lovely long life, didn't they? But they are like family, and that is hard when it is time to say goodbye.

We are supposed to get sleet and snow tomorrow. UGH. It was nice but a bit chilly today. Lots of sun.

Mom is not sure what happened, and neither am I, but I bumped my head someplace, and now I have this big old patch of bald!! My feathers were on the floor, and Mom heard a noise when she was in the bathroom. I made a beeline for her, and when she saw me, no feathers! I think I beaned my noggin. Oh, are those feathers gonna drive me nuts when they grow in. My cleaned the area off, and put a bit of antibiotic on it cuz there was a red spot. She is worried about me getting a concussion, but so far I am eating and being my usual self, so I guess I am doing okay.

Your buddy,
Kaji

  Hi Willie~
I hope you are having a fun day! This salad bar thing that mom had for lunch certainly sounds yummy! She said there was all kinds of veggie and fruit. They had soups and chicken wings and taco stuff! Mom just had the veggie part. There was deserts also so mom tried a bit of the bread pudding. She liked it. Ian asked her is she was going to have some of the ice cream and mom told him she was just too full! Ian asked who was she and where was his mom!hehehehehehe Mom really loves ice cream! It's one of those things I will never taste since I prefer my food at room temp!
Have a great rest of the day!
