Well the volkmans is just some thing mom gives me so I can have something besides cooked all the time and its for ekkies so its not fortified or enriched so far I have been ok with it. Mom gets mine at the warehouse and Cindy orders a #20 bag at a time and mom splits it up then and freezes it in packages and takes out as needed. I know they also sell it in #4 bags too for mom has bought that. If you get it make sure its volkmans science brand for eclectus birds though. Maybe call around at pet stores and see if anybody has it or you can order it out of different catalogs too. Mom still cooks the bean/rice meal and adds veggies to that and also I get my all natural applesauce and no sugar added to it with my steel cut oats she cooks for me too. If I eat something that seems ok I will start toe tapping so mom knows right away to take it out of my diet cause she only does one thing at a time so she knows what set it off then. Hope this helps you. I took my bath in my water bowl today while mom was scrubbing the floors. Mom said I was sure wound up today and was into one thing after another. I admit I did have a little action around here today but it was such a pretty day I guess I was just excited about it and the sun shining so nice too. “Friends are like angels with beautiful wings, blessing our lives with the most precious things”. Yes mom cooks alot of my foods for me and has to really watch no fortified, enriched or sulphur dioxide foods either. Mom does give me the volkmans for eclectus so I do get some of that but mostly rice/beans and steel cut oatmeal is my main meals and also fresh fruit. Ekkies sure have a hard time molting though. There is a real pretty dove that comes here to eat. It has lots of white spots on it and if the other doves are here eating they wont allow it to eat with them. They chase it away so it eats with the sparrows. Mom said she would bring it in the house and treat it nice and not be mean to it like the other doves are. Well mom had a devil of a time at first getting me on the right foods and stuff. Then I got that crop infection and I started picking the feathers on my crop and still do some. At least the coloring is getting some better now. What kind of food do you eat? When mom first got me the lady apparently didnt know much about ekkies and told mom all the wrong stuff to feed me and went thru different kinds and brands of food but now mom thinks she got a good diet for me if I would just let my crop feathers alone hihihi. Happy Memorial Day and hope you had a great one too! We just hung around and watched mom get some of her work caught up today. The ducks have been hanging around outside a lot and are pretty tame. They get a little antsy when dad gets a little close but dad can tell so he only goes so far by them and quits. They like to hang out under the pickup or by the big tree mostly but we saw them fly one day too so sure no problem doing that either. “We don’t remember days….we remember moments”.
