  Head Rubbing?
Hi, When larry is outside the cage he often rubs his head on the bars and nibbles on them, belive me he has plenty of things to chew on, is this normal or should i be concerned?

  Back to square one.
My neighbor came over the other day while i had larry out of his cage, she said aww a parakeet, then grabbed him and started forcefully petting him. When he bit her she threw him agaisnt the sofa. (dont worry he is fine). Well anyways he has lost ALOT of trust for humans but he is getting a little better. However, before this incident i could stick my hand in the cage and he would happily jump on at my "up" command. now when i say "up" he doesnt move, and when i press up on his abdomen to get him to step up he nips at me. :( STUPID NEIGHBOR

  Another day another blog.
well not alot to report today, but i think that yesterday i gave larry too much stimulation, he got a little cranky and started nipping at me when i offered him my finger to get him out of the cage (he never does this). Is this noraml behaviour?

  Behavior "Problem"
Whenever I have Larry away from his cage, and i am not giving him any treats, he flies back to his cage. He doesn't do this in a scared way, i think he just prefers siting on top of his cage than on my shoulder or finger, he does like my knee though. How can i make him prefer me as a perch than his cage?

  Larry sounds neat!
I think you should train him to shake your hand! It's basically half the step up trick. So, you do the same thing as step up, only say shake, or nice to meet you! then when he gives you the first foot praise him immediately and give him millet.

Come visit me, Charlie & Bobby.

  Training Help Anyone?
OK so i have had Larry for 3 weeks, he has never bitten me, and i clipped his wings on my own. He should be about 3-4 months old, but he still has a lot of his head stripes, so I'm guessing 3 months. Anyways, i do basic trust traning, handle him often (not grabbing,we do stepping up). He steps up perfectly now without hesitation, and i usually reward him with some millet. Since his wings are clipped he trusts me to take him around the house to his favorite perch locations. He can be rather hesitant at times, and when he is in the same room as his cage he flys to the top of it, not in a fearful way. He does this unless we are training, there is millet near him, or i am playing some music he likes. OH and he is VERY calm, rarely freaks out and flapps around madly, only is somewhat hesitant, he is not afraid of my dog either. How's my progress so far? What else should i teach him. When do you think i should get him a friend, and would a cockatiel caged seperately work? thankyou

Come visit me, Cocky, Smokey & Charlie.
