 When I saw Rose as she was being handfed at the bird store, it was love at first sight.
6-21-10 Update
Yesterday, Rosie said "good morning" for the first time (after working on that with her for 2 years). However, I told one of the dogs that she was being antisocial and 2 seconds later Rosie says "antisocial." Go figure. I guess that's more interesting than a pleasant 'good morning.'

Rosie is a pirate! She finally said "Arrgh!" (and said it and said it). I'll see how long it takes her to say 'ahoy matey!'. |

 Hanging upside down from the top of my cage, sitting on mom's arm
 I really don't care much for the two dumb dogs that live with me. I thoroughly enjoy tattling on them when they do naughty things. I also don't like evil stuffed animals (good ones are okay). Vacuum hoses are a definite no-no. Don't even think about touching my back.
 She always talks to me and spends time with me, and she makes me feel safe and happy. Alas, since she won't speak to me in parrot, I am learning to speak to her in human, which makes her very happy.
 I enjoy hanging upside down in my cage like a bat, battling my toys and talking nonstop all day. Besides having a large and continuously growing vocabulary, I am proud to say I can whistle a part of the 1812 Overture, the theme to ESPN, and my piece de resistance: the ENTIRE theme of the Andy Griffith show! I especially like whistiling the Andy Griffith song over and over and over again..
 Silence is NOT golden..

Hello Rosie
It's Sheba, come by for a little chat, if you don't mind. A while back I mentioned to you that since I've lived here, I've not chosen to say a single thing that my new family has tried to inspire me to say. To elaborate on that, I have to be honest and say that I have picked up on the lines of the second Grey here (a bird my mom purchased some time after adopting me because, and I quote, "she was disappointed that she and I were never going to see eye-to-eye". Oddly enough, that Grey doesn't learn things from mom either. She mimics dad, the one human she sees as competition for attention. It's those lines and phrases that Kelly's learned from dad that, little by little, I've added to my repertoire. THEN, just the other day, Dad thought he heard mom in the kitchen talking but when he came in, he discovered the room void of humans and had to assume it was ME doing the talking. Not a day later, mom heard herself saying "I'm sorry" and again, had to assume it was me because she was pretty sure SHE hadn't said anything. So, changes are in the making, I guess.
I wonder what's new with YOU. "ARRGGH", huh? Well, you go, Pirate-Girl!! Are you taking part in this summer's Camp Birdie? Their theme is PIRATES which would be perfect for you and your new words. I'd love to see a video of you saying this famous pirate line.
Well, hoping this finds your summer progressing along nicely.

Thank you for your note of congratulations on my being the Bird of the Day. To be honest, I never planned on being in this position. I was content with my quiet little existence here on the BC. But a friend of mind had other ideas and coordinated this big effort to shower me with votes and Wa-La, here I am. Who'd've thought! (Not me, that's for sure.)
Say, I enjoyed reading your latest updates; LOL about the two-years on the "Good Morning" and two seconds for the "antisocial". You and I, Girl, we need to talk. I've been with my new mom now for six years and I have yet to say anything new that this family's tried to inspired out of me. I like all the old familiar stuff better, I guess. But I'll save the stories for later. I've many a Royal note to deliver yet today.

What a beautiful portrait! I can see you like the camera! I really don't care for it because I have plucked and really don't look very nice. Mom thinks I am beautiful, especially with the peachy color under my plumage. I have a fister, Miranda just like you (but older! Ha!) Yes, I'm Cookie, 'cause I'm sooo sweet! Gandalf the grey here, flying by for a visit. :) I love your photo!!! It's fabulous! You are also very talented, I see. You can sing! Yeeesss! So can I. I am learning numbers right now, but can belt out a tune any day of the week, but not the 1812 overture. You've got talent, sister! I love to talk. I talk so much that my parronts literately have conversations with me! Oh - and I also think I can detect earthquakes (hee hee). (ok, really - I think I can! about 2 minutes before they hit, I do the night-fright flap-a-thon in my cage and give off 2 warnings chirps to my flockmates. This wakes up mom, who wakes up dad - if it's in the middle of the night - and then they sit up and just...wait. At least we're all prepared!)
Anyhow, now that I've gone on forever, here's a vote for you, Come by and visit me sometime!

Hello Rosie
Reggie here to let you know that it is with MUCH sadness that this will be my last note to everyone. Mom has been trying to put this up on my page, but for some reason BC hasn't let it load. So here goes: Mom and the main rescue lady were talking and mom was told that in order for me to be ready for adoption I needed to be socialized. Well, mom and dad talked it over and so I am having to go to Lisa's house. She still has 2 teen boys and so there are people coming and going all the time. Okay, mom took me there and right away mom has to go searching for Lisa's Rosie, rose breasted 'too. Took all of mom's time finding her. She's safe and very happy to be back in her flock. After mom helps get Rosie back and my cage set up in the house. Brings in all of my chew toys and drops off the paperwork of mine. She gives me a quick love and she and Sly leave. It took Lisa nearly 2 days to get back to mom about me. I'm doing great, haven't plucked at all and love to go to everyone. Lisa asked mom about that and mom told her how I have been.....growling and hissing at any stranger to get near mom. Anyhow, I'm eating everything but strawberries. and I'm having a great time trying to let Lisa's son know he's taking mom's place with me.
Sly says mom is still crying a bit over me and him and Sophie are still plucking because I'm gone. Mom says she's still trying to talk dad into letting me come home. We will see. You can go to any one of my flock for updates...mom says she's going to leave my site up just in case. hahaha
