 It was kind of spur of the moment. I was joking around about wanting a cockatoo at a pet store and the guy said he would special order me one. I have only ever owned cockatiels but always wanted a parrot. So he sent for her and I bought her. I never really researched cockatoos and I found out she is very loud. But I love her to death. She is so affectionate and so beautiful. I've had her since she was 4 months old and still read up on cockatoos all the time.. |

You are really pretty. I really like cockatoo's someday i would like a ducorps cockatoo or a goffins i read they are the most quiet of the too's. I don't know how it would be though because my amazon is very talks a lot and can be very loud at times. Hehe and i like your name it just so happens to be my nickname from childhood!Come visit me, Sierra & Sam.

Stoppin by to say hi!!!! I like seeing another one of my relatives come aboard. You know my mommy controls my loudness, by only allowing me to get so loud and then she tells me okay, you've done enough squaking now, now it's time to talk, and then I have to talk. Birds will be birds, there's no totally changing that, after all if that were the case I would have been born human. The real fact is that I could scream loud enough to call someone 5 miles away. Of course I would never be allowed to scream that loud, but keeping that in mind, the squaking I'm doing is only minor. Just remember, we get anxious when we watch TV, especially hearing crowds and loud action. Just don't have us by your eardrum when this may occur. Mommy says with her keeping an even keel on my squaking level, the macaw is much more of a harsh, loud noise than me. If you don't have a loud macaw, you should be able to handle the cockatoo with control. You may want to deter when the cockatoo gets too loud, if telling it to talk and not squak. when she talks, give her a treat. Also if you have a real hard time with constant loudness, give the bird a shower, this really tones them down. They get more relaxed and busy with preening themselves and forget to be loud. (just remember, where there's a will there's a way) make your will your birds way!!!

and welcome to the channel! I'm a cockatoo too (Moluccan) and my brother is an Umbrella. Yes, we are very loud at times...my mom has learned to ignore it at times.
