 I worked at a bird specialty store and actually hand-fed and raised Goober personally. She was brought in from the breeder when she was 3 months old, but she had been badly plucked by her parents before the breeder pulled her, so she was only just starting to regrow her feathers. Because of the stress of this, we think, she did not fully wean until she was around 8-9 months of age. She was very sweet and quirky with the staff of the shop but did NOT do well with strangers. Because of this, she never found a home. I wanted to purchase her myself, but couldn't afford the $1,300 price tag.
One day, my father called me and asked if I could afford the 50% deposit to bring her home. I told him yes and he told me to bring her home that night - they would pay the rest!! I was ecstatic! I purchased a cage and Goober that night and brought her home with me straight away, and the rest is history!. |

Another Buddy from Florida

I am from Florida too and I am a Severe also, that is i was bred there. My new mom doesn't know who my breeder was. She wishes she could find out but we live in Washington state. His band number is 175jwsFL wouldn't it be a surprise if we came from the same breeder? Do you have a band? Welcome to the BC. I am SweetPea a Hahns Macaw and it is a pleasure to meet another Macaw my size. Hooray for dad coming up with half of the money. Nice man. You seem so happy with your new owner and that brings joy to our hearts. Do you talk? I am 4 years old and sing, dance, talk and get our 2 dogs in trouble constantly. You see I squawk out my window even though there is no one there and they go ballistic and hence get hollared at. Works every time. I refer to them as stupid dogs. Hope you meet plenty of new friends and that you stop by and fill me in on what is shaking. Birdy hugs and kisses to your sibs.
