  Hi Cheyenne
I'm so sorry mom's back is hurting her so much already.
We had a few snow flurries this morning, but it's all clear and sunny now. It's supposed to warm into the mid 40s tomorrow, too, but today's high is only around 38. It's been a mild winter so far.
This morning mom and Asmita, another volunteer, had the Runs to clean. That is an area where some of the education animals live, and there are some rehab patients in there too. The education animals in there are the turkey vultures, Sid, Vince, and Tony, and the 5 turtles. There are also some snapping turtles in there, a beautiful male mallard, a porcupine, and a broad winged hawk. It's always an interesting place to clean, because you never know who's going to be in there.
Mom is going out to dinner tonight with her sister, but she's ours for the rest of the day. We put some of our latest reads on the library page for anyone who's interested. I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
That's funny, how the family birthdays fall!
The chair is here! I landed on it first thing, but mom chased me off. I don't know why. We'll post a pic later. Willie got 3 new toys for his hatchday, so he was happily making toothpicks last night.
Today we are writing a short blog, because mom is meeting a couple of other retired teachers for lunch. She has to be there at 11:30, so it sounds like the old days at school. We are hoping they will have more than 20 minutes to eat, haha! After that, she has a ton of errands to run. We need wild bird food, she needs to return a gift, check out what happened to her Barnes and Noble membership, get to the bird warehouse here and buy more pellets, and a few other things. We think she'll be gone all afternoon, even if lunch is only 20 minutes long.
I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of attention as is your right! Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
That's a lot of snow! We got about 6 inches here, and mom did have to shovel, but not all of it; it was too heavy.
After she did the front walk, she texted Josh and asked him to come do the driveway.
Tell your mom don't stress about the weight, it's only a number!
It's a good thing mom called off from the museum yesterday, because Josh didn't get here until after 12, so he never finished the driveway until 12:30. She'd never have made it in time.
Yesterday mom went to the aviary with the family. Anna, Lena, and their mom and step dad had a penguin encounter. Anna loves penguins, so it was a perfect birthday gift for her. They brought one of the African penguins into a classroom and everyone learned a bit about penguins, then got to get close to her and even pet her. Mom hadn't reserved a place for herself because she thought she'd be working at the museum, so she stayed outside the classroom. There was a woman with a screech owl out to meet the public, so mom talked to her for a bit. She left, then a guy came out with a scarlet macaw and talked about macaws for a bit. After that, another woman came into that space with a spectacled owl. Mom got to see 3 birds up close, and it was great. She had thought she'd just wander the halls of the aviary, but meeting birds in the feather was so much more fun.
They went to Kaya for dinner; it's a Caribbean restaurant in the Strip district, and the food is marvelous. Mom had a vegetarian paella which was delicious. They came back here for cake and present opening, so it was a fun day for both the birthday queens, Anna and Jamie.
Today mom cleaned the avian nursery and the main aviary again. It was a pretty easy day. After the center, she took a few things to St. Vincent de Paul to donate, and now she's back here with us. Oh, she did a severe CD purge, not by listening, but by looking! She got rid of about 90 disks! Both Anna and Jamie helped themselves to some of the disks, and she'll probably donate the rest to the library for their annual sale. The living room looks a bit less crowded now, and since the buffet has been cleaned out, it looks better now, too.
I hope you are having a great day today, getting some sunshine and lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
You guys got nailed there! That's a ton of snow, hope mom is able to get out and do what she needs to do this week.
Congratulations to all the winners of the ice sculpture and dog sled races. It sure was an exciting milonga, and we loved it all (when we weren't getting booted off, finding old blogs there, etc.). Thanks to the team; Kiddo, Taz, Kaji and Lizzie, Sweetpepper, and SamIAm and the Scruffy birds for another great time. It was nice to see some new faces there, too.
Bree was here on Friday to trim our nails. I got my beak trimmed a bit, too. As usual, I was hard to catch, Willie was the drama king, screaming before he got touched, and Peppino was trying to bite his way out of the towel. Millie and Lily were perfect angels, as usual. Bree also said she could house sit for mom in April so she can go to the Orlando Bird Show, so mom now has to get busy finding tickets.
Today mom has already called off from the museum. Our driveway hasn't been shoveled yet, and this snow is too heavy for mom to do all at once. We think Josh is coming over later, but who knows what time? Anyway, she's not going to the museum, so she'll go to the aviary instead. She had booked a Penguin encounter for her granddaughters, son in law, and daughter, so she won't do that, but loves going to the aviary anyway, so she'll have a good time with everyone. After the aviary they will go to dinner, then come back here for birthday cake. Anna's birthday was last Wed. and Jamie's birthday is this coming Tuesday, so we're ready here with cake for all!
We didn't get a newspaper yesterday or today, hopefully one will be delivered later.
Of course that means we will all get lots of attention when everyone gets here. Until then, I hope you have a great day, hopefully get dug out if you live in this part of the country, and maybe get a bit of rain if you're in the west. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today, too. Hugs, Falco

  Hey Baby girl
Good morning...
Today I'm starting my series on how my skin family came to a close encounter with the aliens.
My introduction
When my mommy and the skins moved to my daddy's rez in Acoma the elders would always talk to her. They told her about how man kind and creature kind are very curious about most tribes of Native Americans because we are thought to possess great powers...

My mommy said she saw a human figure running through the rez with a rainbow one night. The medicine man asked her did it look at her???
She said yes.The medicine man than told her it was watching her.
He also said because my mommy is from a sky tribe and so is the Acoma the aliens are very curious...He also told my mommy that they would follow her and the skins in a quite and sneaky way.

My mommy went to a Powwow four days later.
This man named Sean Morten confronted her and introduced himself.
He wanted to be adopted by a Native American family.
Sean Morten owned and created the TV show sightings that was really popular 20 years ago.It came on every Tuesday night on channel 4 I think...Do you remember???
Anyway every weekend he would come to visit the family and bring a Marie Calenders pie...He would also bring recordings of the UFO's at area 51.It is top secret !!!

Tomorrow I will be bringing you part two of my blog. You will be totally blown away to hear what my mommy and the skins in my family learned.

  Hey Baby girl
Good morning I'm glad to be back...
My Mommy's surgery went well and her hernias were removed successfully with no complications.I told her to bring them home in a jar heehee!!!
My mommy had outpatient surgery and was off BC for awhile due to the pain med's not letting her focus...
She's doing fine now and her stitches are annoying but healing...

Today I'm going to start off with a short blog and tomorrow and the days after my blogs will be longer.

Everyone lets jump on our Harley Hogs !!!

Here we are in Roswell New Mexico...Area 51...
If you haven't heard of it this is where there is lots of UFO sightings along with other weird and scarey things...

For those of you who don't believe in these things think about it...
How can a whole town and state be wrong and how can the military be wrong ???

As I ask once again who are we to make these judgements???
Only god knows!!!

Tomorrow we will be exploring Roswell New Mexico and area 51...
Each story told is a true account of what happens here...

Trust me Cookie,Tweety and BB knows...You wouldn't believe how many times BB has caught Tweety and Cookie here visiting their alien friends...Heeehee!!!!

Tomorrow I will start my series....

  Hi Cheyenne
Your mom is so busy, but that birthday party sounds like it was fun! And Pop won money? That's terrific.
Today mom called off from the center because she's finally going to meet Lena for lunch! She hasn't seen her since she got home from Germany, so we're hoping she has pictures and lots of details to share. Mom also has her Christmas gifts for her. The whole family will be there, daughter, son in law, Anna, and of course, Lena. Mom is even getting a ride with her daughter, since they are going to a restaurant for lunch and taking 3 cars seemed excessive.
Mom finally got her anti virus up and running today, too. Her nephew installed a trial version when he couldn't hook up her original, and she had to call them today to get that removed and her own restored. She is relieved!
The CD purge goes on; there are now 6 in that stack which mom will take to lunch today in case anyone else wants them.
Other than that, it's very cold here, only 8 when mom walked the dogs. She dug out their little coats, though, so they were warm.
I hope everyone has a great MLK day, and does something uplifting. I hope all my birdie friends have a great day, too, and get some extra cuddles and scritches if your mom or dad is off work today! Hugs, Falco

Here's part 3 of the Penitente's...

My mommy found out that those dolls created in the image of each Penitente would be thrown in a pit in back of the ranch if they died or left the religion.

The Angel of death was also revealed to them. The guy Richard told them that whoever it pointed at would die.In the first picture in my gallery is a picture of what they call the real angel of death who wakes up to take his victims soul away on a chariot of fire...

Anyway my mommy introduced herself to the guide and told him she is the daughter of hundreds of generations of medicine men and women from the Northern Cheyenne tribe. She knew it would scare him and it did.
He also also saw the medicine pouch hanging around her neck that is hundreds of years old.
He looked nervous and gave them his farewells very quickly and walked them off the ranch.
My mommy,Katherine and the school kids made it out of there without incident!!!

My mommy always say's you may win the battles in life but are you prepared for winning the big war in your life ???
Always dig deep into your roots and tap into your inner strength...
You will receive honor and victory...

Thank you for your votes...

  Hi Cheyenne
I'm glad mom is going to survive, and hope she survived her trip to the mall, too, haha. Hope sounds so cute.
It's so weird this winter. Yesterday it barely got out of the teens, today it's already in the 30s, and tomorrow it's supposed to go to 48! The good news is that at 48, it's not going to snow, but by Sunday it is supposed to hit a high of 18 again. Weird!
Mom made it to the museum yesterday to get her fingerprint registered for the new time clock. She stopped at Trader Joe's on the way back, and surprisingly enough, got out of there with only $25 in groceries!
Today walking the dogs was much more pleasant, and it was even nice enough to fill the outdoor feeders for the squirrels and birdies. Tonight mom is meeting Aunt Ginny for her birthday dinner and movie. They are eating Thai food (big surprise, right?) and going to see either Sisters or Joy, depending on what time the meal is over. Mom couldn't make up her mind.
I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hey Baby girl
Happy Humpday!!!

First off I want you to know that everything I'm telling you is real..Things go on all over the world in a wordly and spiritual matter everyday.
Some don't see or know it and some do see it and know it.Some are given and born with the gift from god to be able to see and know about the tangible and the intangible...
They are also protectors from god. A lot of hoomans say this is crazy...
But who are they to judge crazy if they have never seen it...
To me whats crazy is animal, child and elder abuse. And as strong as our government is why do these things keep happening ???That's crazy with the whole earth getting ruined...So tell me!!!
My mommy and my skin sibs have seen and heard and been through a lot of things cause they are from a very strong medicine family.
My mommy has often prayed to god and asked him to take the gift away from her but god has his reasons not too...

Here's part two of the Penitentes....

The guy Richard who was the tour guide looked like a normal man.
These people don't cover their faces until they do their rituals...

Anyway when my mommy,Katherine and the kids who were in the 3rd grade went into the penitente church this guy Richard told them about their rituals.
He also told them of the Jesus statue behind the curtain. He told them that they couldn't look at this statue.
My mommy could see some of it from the angle she was sitting. She saw a distorted statue of our lord Jesus.
My mommy was horrified but stayed strong for the kids and Katherine. Katherine too saw the statue...

This guy Richard started to tell everyone that when he joined the Penitente's they made a doll of him...He showed everyone a creepy looking doll that looked just like him.He also told everyone that every time someone joins them they will get a doll of them made...

As he was talking my mommy had it made up in her mind of leaving politely. She didn't know how the reaction would be if they just walked out.

Be ready for for part three tomorrow...

As the medicine clans in my tribe say where there is good there is evil and where there is evil there is good. These two forces are always opposing one another...
We are always for the good!!!

Thank you for your votes

PS...Penitente's are also in Colorado as well as New Mexico. They used to be only in Spain....
Be careful !!!

  Hey Baby girl
I hope your mommy's feeling 100 percent better by today...My mommy's getting better but not rushing it by over whelming herself.
My mommy can be stubborn at times heehee!!!

Here we are !!! We made it all the way here on our Harleys... We are in Northern New Mexico...

This is another true account...We are entering the Penitente's ranch...
But before we enter let me tell you about what happened to my mommy and older skin brother when they went.
This might change your mind of ever wanting to go to one of these...
This is scarey and weird!!!

My mommy had a good friend who happened to be my big skin brothers school teacher...Any way my mommy's friend the school teacher named Katherine told my mommy she met this guy at her church and he invited her to bring the class to his ranch for a field trip.
She said yes not knowing what a penitente ranch is.My mommy thought it wise to go along with her and the kids...

Anyway when they arrived in the school bus with the class there was that guy named Richard standing in front.
He brought everyone in the ranch.
He explained that the penitentes were a branch off the catholic religion. And go back since the beginning of time.
Each penitente ranch are in their own society...

He also showed the class the houses they lived in and how the floors are made of dirt and get cleaned with BLOOD!!!

He told the class of the torture chambers they had there and they would torture each other for days and days.
Every year they would also tie a big cross on themselves and walk down the same path getting tortured with whips cutting through their skin and getting beatings from painful cactus...

If anyone would walk in during these torture sessions they would surely die of something so fearful that the human mind can't even imagine...

Tomorrow I will tell you what my mommy and Katherine and the kids in the class were allowed to see and what they did see and learn.
This is real and beyond ones imagination. It can change your mind about things forever.Stay Strong!!! Part 2 tomorrow...

Thank you for your votes
Love your hubby

P.S... I'm posting some pictures of the penitentes in my gallery. I will put new ones up everyday...

  Hi Cheyenne
It's good to see you again. We all hope mom is feeling better, too.
You might notice new pics in all our galleries today. Mom finally got them off the phone and onto the computer. She had to turn the whole tower around to find a USB port, though. Her old hard drive had 2 on the front, this one doesn't. She had to unplug the webcam to plug in the phone, too. Anyway the first 2 pics on my (Falco's) page show where she spent Sunday, at the Kodiak Island Grizzly bear exhibit. The mom and cubs are behind glass, and papa bear is on rocks on the floor in the open.
The next pics are part of Phipps show. They do things inside and out, and some of the pics from outside aren't great, but they are finally posted.
It's snowing today, and it's actually sticking. So far there are a couple of inches. After mom walked the dogs this morning, she had to shovel the front walk to find the morning paper. It was buried in the yard, though, not on the walkway.
It looks like today will be a lazy inside day for mom, she hates driving in the snow. That means we may not get broccoli tomorrow. Of course, if the snow stops, and the roads are cleared, mom will go to the store to buy us lots more fresh veggies and fruits. We have about one more day of pomegranate, and a couple more days of yam but they're running short too.
I hope you are having a great day there, not too cold and no bad weather. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
So you finally get some time with mom? That's great!
The flower and light show at Phipps was gorgeous! When we get the hard drive for the desk top back, mom will post a few pics. Her sister was there for the first time ever, which was a surprise to mom, since she goes every year. Aunt Renee loved it, though, and took a ton of pics to share with her husband.
This morning mom had 3 rooms to do at the center. Sounds hard, right? Well, in the avian nursery were one screech owl and 4 cedar waxwings, only 2 cages. In the mammal nursery there was only one cage to do, the flying squirrel. And the main aviary only houses 5 pigeons right now, so it was also easy. Mom got done with all her areas, then went to the kitchen and washed a few sinks full of dishes before she left.
Mom got a free tank of gas today with her fuel perks! How great is that? It's her second free tank this season. She and her sister bought a lot of gift cards when they were doing double perks. With any luck, she'll have another tank free by the time she needs to fill up again.
I hope you are having a good day, it's cool and rain is predicted here. Still, it's much better than snow. Get lots of attention today, lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hey Babe
Is my story too scarey for you??? If so I'll hold you close to me in my wings and protect you and Jet...Would that make you feel better ??? You know I love you and won't let anything happen to you sweetie...

Good Morning!!! It's so cool ,crisp and clean here in SO-CAL...
We are waiting for our next series of rain storms that should arrive here tomorrow which is Saturday...
That means if you don't here from me we are having a power outage so please be patient and bare with me...

Here's part two of haunted Barstow.I hope your enjoying it !!!

When my mommy went to the library she got a card for each skin sib.

There was a lady there that greeted her and welcomed her to Barstow. My mommy and her started talking and the lady took my mom to look at a picture of Barstow when it was first built.

The picture was taken from the sky and when my mommy looked at it there was lights that spelled HELL...
My mommy asked the lady why this was and she simply replied that was the way it came out. There was only a few blocks of housing in the beginning.
My mommy was very concerned. When she got back to the house she contacted her family which are heavy duty medicine men...
Out of all days they happened to arrive on day of the dead.
Something Domingo and his flock know about !!!

Before they arrived more and more things started happening and actually intensified...
Everynight my mommy would hear 2 men arguing in her garage.Nothing and nobody would be in there.
Kevin would always tell my mommy there's mad people in the wall and he's scared of them...

Finally on day of the dead my skin uncles and G-PA arrived...

Be ready for part 3 and hang in there with me...
Remember all stories are true and accountable!!!

  Hey Baby girl
Here's my first BOTM blog...I hope you like it sweetie...

Good morning!!! Today where we live in the inland empire the rain goes on and we are loving it!!!We really need it in California that was being called a cinder box because of the drought...
I think mother nature got tired of everyone complaining heehee!!!

Before I start my first blog I have a request I would like you to e-mail me at tweetys.bird if you have a story of a haunted house or a true scary experience...Also if you have a true story of something really strange and weird that happened to you please e-mail me that so I can share it with our BC family...

I'm looking forward to a fun month with you.

My first haunted place is in Barstow California...

When my mommy first moved to Barstow to work for the Native American Indian center she found a house to rent on Navajo st.

Her first night there she was already scared because when her and my skin bros went to sleep that night she heard scratching on the walls and the bedroom door was swinging and opening and closing.
She knew for a fact that the skin bros were fast asleep.

Her second night there got even scarier...The scratching on the walls continued and the doors swinging continued. My mommy then heard footsteps on the roof and the front gate swinging. She looked out the front window and saw the gate swinging back and forth. There was no wind either.
My mommy called the police and they came over and checked everything.Nothing was found. Before they left one of the officers said several families have moved in and out of this house and the houses on her block because of the same incidents...And he was called to investigate to see if there was any criminal activity but couldn't find anything...

The next day my mommy took the skin sibs to the library to occupy their minds.

Guess what she found out and guess what scarey and haunted things happened the following days !!! See you tomorrow with part two of haunted Barstow...

  Hi Cheyenne
Any suggestions for a good movie? Mom was thinking maybe Sisters with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but that's it.
We are slowly hearing all the CDs, and so far, mom has tossed exactly one! And that's because it was faulty, not because it was something she didn't want any more. It had a mark on it, and she tried cleaning it, but that didn't come off, and it was scratched somehow, so out it went. I think she won't be tossing as many as she hoped. She was trying to clear a whole case of them to make more space for us, but that's not going to happen.
Tonight is the night she goes to Phipps to see the Christmas flower and light show. If we get the desktop back any time soon (and we have hope that will happen), she will post some new pics.
Meanwhile, we have our new avatars done for a couple of weeks, until we get our Valentine ones done. I hope you are having a fun day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Haha, by the time mom finishes making her rounds, it will be time to start again!
Mom's winter coat came out a few days ago. This morning she should have looked for hat and gloves, it was 12 degrees out there. When she walked the dogs, they were both anxious to get back home, so it's probably time to look for their winter coats, too, haha. (They both have little wraps, but not winter coats.)
Later mom is going to the Italian store to buy a pizzelle maker for her niece, whose iron burned out this year. She promised to pick one up for her since we're a lot closer to the store than she is. We also need some fresh fruits and veggies, so mom will be making a stop at the Giant Eagle for that, but afterwards, she's ours for the rest of the day.
I hope you are having a great day, getting some sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Today we're blogging late and short, because mom had to be at the museum all day long for an in service workshop. It involved all of the Carnegies; the art museum, the Warhol, the science center, and the natural history museum. It sure was a long day. Mom did learn a few new things when they had time to walk the galleries. She was going to go to the art museum, but there were an archaeologist and and anthropologist with her group, so she ended up going to Egypt and American Indian halls instead. Anyway, now she's home and it's nearly 4:30, time to feed us our afternoon things.
I hope you had a great day today, got lots of attention, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
I guess you and the rest of the flock have to be really patient and wait for mom! Hey, does she want to go to Orlando for the bird show on April 3? Just asking...
Yesterday was fun, mom stayed with us nearly all day long, and we all got lots of attention and cuddles. Today is going to be another one like that, except for a brief outing. Mom's family is coming to take her out to an early dinner, then they're coming back here for birthday cake. Mom and her son in law share a birthday, so they always celebrate both of them together.
Mom thought they were going to a really close restaurant, but found out yesterday that they have closed. It seems every restaurant that opens in that location is doomed to fail. It's too bad, because the river views are fantastic there, the food is usually good, but it's too hard to get in and out with a car, parking is at a minimum, and traffic doesn't usually favor getting out of the lot quickly. So they are going to Mad Mex instead. Mom isn't picky, so she doesn't care where they go.
I hope you are having a fun day today; we are in a cold snap here. It's really not that cold yet, still in the 30s. It's good to see winter finally here. Mom is going through all her CDs, which may take a week or two, because she keeps pulling some out to hear. That means we get to hear some great music for the next few weeks, at least. I wish you a day of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Happy New Year!
Mom had a busy day today, first at the wildlife center where she cleaned and fed turtles and squirrels, then home to prepare for her annual open house. Anna came bright and early to help, so she was able to keep an eye on the pork roast while mom was gone. She also dismantled and got rid of the old stereo. When mom got back, they continued cooking, adding sauerkraut, apples, and kielbasa to the pork roasting in the roaster. They washed all the dishes and serving pieces that only come out once a year, then filed everything with dips, chips, pretzels, cheeses, crackers, cookies, nut roll, etc... Mom swears there was enough for a third world nation. Most of the food was gone when the last guests left around 8PM, though, so it was a successful party.
We all hope you had a great day today! I hope you got lots of cuddles and scritches, too! Hugs, Falco

Part 4 and our wishes for you and yours!
This is it--the last day of 2015! Wishing you good health, good cheer, more love than you could ever imagine, and a safe and Happy New Year! Thank you for your support in voting for me! And a special thank you to Chipper and her Mom for making my festive profile picture!! And now, the final chapter to our story:

The sneeze blasted from the Dragon like a rocket, throwing it back fifty paces, causing a whirlwind of dust and dirt.

The second blast split open the dry earth, sending explosions of soil and tree roots high into the sky like missiles, and something else too ...

The people heard the sound but couldn't recognize it at first for it had been such a long time since their ears had heard such tinkling melody. As their eyes widened in wonder, their smiles turned into grins and then yahoos and hoorahs.

Water, cold, clear spring water, oozed, then trickled, then roared out of the hole, down the hillside and along the valley floor.

The torrent knocked over a farmer's haystack, but he didn't care.

The river carried away the schoolteacher's bike shed but she cared not a jot. It even demolished the Ladies Bowling Club changing rooms but they howled with laughter and slapped their thighs. When the flood sent pools of water out towards the golf course, filling up sixteen of the nineteen holes, the men just hooted and whistled and threw their caps up in the air.

What used to be a dirty, brown dust bowl, now gleamed and glistened in the sunlight, sending playful waves and ripples across the lake and inviting all to share.

"HMMMMM," sighed the Dragon sleepily, and showing his perfect movie star teeth. "Seeing as I'm awake ..."

And he lumbered forward with surprising grace and style and disappeared into the cool dark water with a small wave of a claw and flick of his tail.

They never saw him again.

After the families had restored and rebuilt the village, and set up sailing clubs for the children, and scuba diving for the grandparents, they erected a bandstand and monument in the spot where the Dragon used to lay. Every year to mark the occasion, they would bring garlands of flowers and herbs and arrange them in a big circle. The children would have the day off school, for it was known as 'Water Dragon Day' and wearing the dragon masks that they had been working on all week, would skip and clap and sing.

The Dragon helped Us
As We said He would Do
Hooray for The Dragon
Achoo, Achoo, ACHOOOO!

And that is the end of the story.

Hope you loved it as much as Lizzie and I did! Wing hugs coming your way!

Lotsa love always from your buddy,

  Part Three
Quickly and quietly, they moved invisibly around town, picking and plucking at the fading flowers. With outstretched arms and bouquets up to their chins, they rustled over to where the giant rock lay, as still as ever.

The boys and girls placed bunches of flowers around the Dragon in a big circle. They scattered petals around its head and over its nose, then danced around and around it, skipping and chanting the rhyme that they all knew so well.

In Times of Trouble
The Dragon Will Wake
And Save the Village
By making a Lake.

The searing heat made them dizzy and fuzzy and finally they all fell in a sprawling heap at the bottom of the mound. They looked up at the rock.

Nothing happened.

A dry wind lazily picked up some flower heads and swirled them around. The air was thick with pollen and perfume. A stony grey nostril twitched.

"I saw something," cried the youngest boy.

They stared intently.

An ear swiveled like a periscope.

The ground began to rumble.

"Look out! Run!Run!"

The children scampered in all directions, shrieking and squealing, arms pumping with excitement.

The rumbling grew and grew.

The Dragon raised its sleepy head. It got onto its front feet and sat like a dog. It stood up and stretched, arching its long scaly back like a sleek tabby cat. It blinked and looked around with big kind, long lashed eyes.

And then its nostrils twitched and quivered again.

The older folk were alerted by the screams and shrieks. The ladies held up their long skirts to run and the men rolled their sleeves up and soon the whole town stood together in a tight huddle at the foot of the hill, staring up at the large beast with mouths held open.

The noise erupted from the Dragon.

The families gripped each other tighter and shut their eyes.

Oh dear! A sneezing Dragon! Gosh, multiple sneezes, too--just like Mom! Come back tomorrow for the final chapter!

Wing hugs coming your way,

  Heya, Miss Cheynne!
Here is the second part of the story:

Often on a cool night, when the stars were twinkling brightly in a velvet sky and the children peacefully asleep, the grown ups would settle for the evening with a mug of steaming cocoa in a soft cushioned armchair. Then the stories about How The Dragon Got There began. Nobody knew for sure, there were many different versions depending on which family told the tale, but one thing that everybody agreed on, was this:

In Times of Trouble
The Dragon will Wake
And Free the Village
By making a Lake

This little poem was etched into everybody's minds and sometimes appeared on tea towels and grandma's embroidery.

The days went by slowly, quietly and most importantly, without any rain. There had been no rain in the valley for as long as the children could remember. The wells were starting to bring up muddy brown water and clothes had to be washed in yesterday's dishwater. The lawns had faded to a crisp biscuit colour and the flowers drooped their beautiful heads. Even the trees seemed to hang their branches like weary arms. The valley turned browner and drier and thirstier, every hot, baking day.

The townsfolk grew worried and would murmur to each other when passing with much shaking of heads and tut tuts. They would look upwards searching for rain clouds in the blue, clear sky, but none ever came.

"The tale of the Dragon cannot be true," said old Mrs Greywhistle, the shopkeeper.

"It hasn't moved an inch, I swear," replied her customer, tapping an angry foot.

It was now too hot for the children to play out in the direct sun and they would gather under the shade of the trees, digging holes in the dust and snapping brittle twigs.

"The Dragon will help us soon," said one child.

"He must do Something," agreed another.

"I'm sure he will."

They all nodded in agreement.

A week went by with no change, the people struggling along as best they could. Some were getting cross at the Dragon and would cast angry, sideways looks at it when passing. The villagers were becoming skinny eyed and sullen.

Meanwhile, the children had a plan.

What can the children possibly do? Come back tomorrow and find out!

The hooman men men slept in the dessert and the women and us birds slept in my aunties house.Us birds stayed indoors and watched the dance from the windows. It was so fun cause us birds got all kinds of attention!!!

This year alot of you will experience healing from sickness physical, mental and spiritual. This is from our prayers to you.We pray to our creator the great spirit in heaven for these wonders and miracles. You will recieve an abundance of well health and healing.

  Heya, Cheyenne!
Well, we have a snowstorm here right now. 6 inches of white, mixed maybe with sleet. Just keeps snowing. Okay with that as we don't like the ice and sleet at all. And Mom stays in on NYE too. Too many crazies out there!

As this year winds down, there is yet one more story to share with you all. Of course, it is another Dragon story, and hope you enjoy it! AND--thanks for stopping by to vote for me at this very busy time of year!!

The Dragon Rock by Ellena Ashley

This story begins with Once Upon A Time, because the best stories do, of course.

So, Once Upon A Time, and imagine if you can, a steep sided valley cluttered with giant, spiky green pine trees and thick, green grass that reaches to the top of your socks so that when you run, you have to bring your knees up high, like running through water. Wildflowers spread their sweet heady perfume along the gentle breezes and bees hum musically to themselves as they cheerily collect flower pollen.

People are very happy here and they work hard, keeping their houses spick and span and their children's faces clean.

This particular summer had been very hot and dry, making the lean farm dogs sleepy and still. Farmers whistled lazily to themselves and would stand and stare into the distance, trying to remember what it was that they were supposed to be doing. By two o'clock in the afternoon, the town would be in a haze of slumber, with grandmas nodding off over their knitting and farmers snoozing in the haystacks. It was very, very hot.

No matter how hot the day, however, the children would always play in the gentle, rolling meadows. With wide brimmed hats and skin slippery with sun block, they chittered and chattered like sparrows, as they frolicked in their favourite spot.

Now, their favourite spot is very important to this story because in this particular spot is a large, long, scaly rock that looks amazingly similar to a sleeping dragon.

The children knew it was a dragon.

The grown ups knew it was a dragon.

The dogs and cats and birds knew it was a dragon.

But nobody was scared because it never, ever moved.

The boys and girls would clamber all over it, poking sticks at it and hanging wet gumboots on its ears but it didn't mind in the least. The men folk would sometimes chop firewood on its zigzagged tail because it was just the right height and the Ladies Weaving Group often spun sheep fleece on its spikes.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's installment! Is this a REAL dragon?

  Hi Cheyenne
Oh that was the way with us,Mom can't let us out together but on Christmas we were watched and it was just all three of us GCC's and none of us wanted to be with the other! My baby fister Candida can be nice to me and preen me but she is so protective of my dad and won't let me near him at dinner. And Mom tried to let me on the table with them but she just kept coming and being mean to me so both parronts were afraid she'd hurt me,(I have gout really bad and my toes are twisted and very painful),so I get to sit in my cage and wait it out.It sounds like your sweet Mom is just as busy as my Mom is and never home.My parronts and family used to go out NYE(which is my hatchday)so I would always have to celebrate my hatchday on NYD.Now because of all the crowds and having to wait outside in the freezing cold they go NYD for lunch when its super quiet.Mom would rather not go out at all!
This morning was a bright sunny morning but freezing cold. Our highs for the day were 33 the lows of 30 and right now its 30 degrees at 4:30pm.Mom got dad off to work and then she got us up,fed us and cleaned our cages and just when she thought she was going to have a quiet day at home catching up with the chores she didn't get to on the weekend,Nana called and wanted her to come and take her to the insurance company to reinsure her car for half a year as it was due at the end of this month. Then Nana told Mom to collect her trash and they would go to the dump as they never got there last week because of Christmas. So Mom collected all our trash and recyclables, they were overflowing, and forgot some stinky chicken trays she had put in the freezer to keep from stinking til she could go to the dump.Mom was going to take us with her but decided against it as it was way too cold. When Mom got to Nana's she brought a heavy chair that was in the bird room up to the loft area and she brought another little kids rocking chair upstairs also, then she lifted a 50lb bag of ice salt from her car that the guys never got out for her and put that on the side in the garage. Then she loaded all the trash and recyclables into Nana's car and between the two of them there were a lot of recyclables and trash.Mom drove to the Bank where Nana's car is insured and that was a wasted trip as they told Nana she had to call this number and they would do it for her over the phone. From there they drove to the dump but they got stuck in the rotary as there was a head on collision just as you exited into the road going to the dump. There were fire engines, police cars and ambulances and no one was going anywhere fast.they were letting one lane go at a time. Finally after a good half hour,Mom got to go to the dump and as the accident was on the road Mom had to get off to turn into the street for the dump she had to wait til someone would let her in.Mom emptied all the recyclables, then the trash and was it freezing and windy at the dump, she had to hang onto everything or it would go flying. Then they went to Stop&Sh

  Heya, Miss Cheyenne!
Oh, sure know you are glad your Mom is home again!

Mom went over by Grandpa's for a late lunch and then to watch the Packers debacle. We knew Arizona was a good team, but we sure did not expect the Pack to fold like that, or to lose quite that badly. Yes, they have injuries, but they are not playing with passion or even thinking they can win, and they are not playing together. Sheesh. However, we were very happy that the Falcons played like they meant it, and beat the Panthers. More football now but Mom is only half watching it.

Big storm coming our way tomorrow--ice, sleet and snow. And they extended it from ending Monday night to now ending Tuesday. Mom salted the driveway from Grandpa's patio door to his garage, and brought a bucket of salt into the patio so that he has it right there. She is trying to be proactive, as she doesn't want to see him try to walk to the garage if it is nasty out there. We hope the storm is not as bad as the weather geeks are predicting.

Sending you big thanks and wing hugs for stopping by to vote for me! Appreciate it more than you know!

This morning was a dark dismal morning with our highs of 55 the lows of 36 and right now at 7:30pm its 46 and raining heavy out there.Mom got us all up and no sooner had she cleaned our cages, swept our room and made fresh bean mix for us,skin sis was here with her laundry.Mom gave us our cooled off bean mix and then helped skin sis with getting the first load of laundry in,then Mom went upstairs and stripped the bed and got the sheets off and brought down the rest of the laundry for the second load of wash. She made dad his sandwiches for the week and then she made chicken pot pie and got that ready and in the oven while she made the dessert shells with coconut cream filling and some with banana cream filling. Then Mom gave Peepers a nail trim and cleaned up all the pans from the chicken pot pie. When the first load of laundry was done Mom and skin sis folded that and got the second load in.It seemed like the day just flew right by and skin sis didn't leave until a few minutes ago.Mom sent her home with some of the chicken pot pie which Mom,Dad and skin sis had for dinner,Mom cleaned up the dishes and now that she put the leftovers away she can sit down and finally get to our visits that we've been waiting all day to get to!Its been a busy day for Mom and hopefully tomorrow will be much quieter.Mom is hoping for things to start calming down around here so maybe we can keep up with visiting our friends on BC regularly again.I sure do miss visiting with you sweet pretty Cheyenne!

  Hi Cheyenne & Flock
T'was the night before Christmas, when all through the tree,
the birdies and parrots were all filled with glee,
The clutches were snuggled in their down feathered nests,
while vision of flight, sent them all soaring west.

Fresh millet sprays had been hung with great care,
with hopes that "Old Scarlet" (Parrot St. Nick) soon would be there.
The Conures and Amazons had all settled down,
but those crazy cockatoos were still hopping around.

When high in the tree tops, a ruckus arose,
I thought I should check, just to see what goes.
Peeking through branches, leaves lit by the moon,
I thought I was dreaming it looked just like noon!

When what to my wondering eyes should there be,
but a flock of eight Grey's with Red Tails shining landing in the next tree.
Gliding behind, holding reins in his beak,
I spied the red bird, with a blush on his cheek.

He whistled and squawked, calling each one by name,
buoyed by a breeze, as closer they came.
Now Talon, now Josey, now Dayo and Ana Grey,
on Corky, on Misty, on Gilda and Gracie.

To the top of the palms, to the top of trees tall,
now fly away, fly away, fly away all!
I watched as they circled the green jungle maze,
and thought for a second I'd lost sight, I was in such a daze!

But, soon they appeared, drawing a basket behind,
which was filled with new toys of the bright, shiny kind.
Back to my branch I climbed mighty quick,
I'd heard of Old Scarlet, surely this was no trick!

He carefully perched by an old snoring grey,
while I fretted and wondered if he'd get scared away.
He wasn't even distracted when the parakeet sneezed.
He hung the new whirlygigs, sighed and looked pleased.

Standing proud and quite stately, he filled me with trust;
but I felt ashamed, his feathers were covered with cockatoo dust.
He paused, just a moment, fluffed and preened in a stoop,
turned around slowly, saying "At least it's not poop."

Then he laughed out loud--like a real human being.
I blinked my eyes twice, at what I was seeing.
He picked up a peanut and tossed it my way.
"Here's a small Christmas treat. Don't get spoiled, okay?"

He strutted back to the basket, put a strap round each wing,
chirped at his flock, who started to sing.
Their tones were so perfect, they were magically dear.
I was sure it was Memorex or a choir quite near.

The melody lingered, for a moment or two,
but I caught one last glimpse, before they flew.
His eyes were so merry, twinkling with impish delight.
His charming ways had brightened this long Christmas night.

As upward they soared, toward the golden round moon,
I heard every word, he joyfully crooned.
"Merry Christmas to all, peace, joy and cheer.
Be good little birdies. I'll see you next year!"
