  Hi Cheyenne
Wow, that is a busy weekend! Mom recommends painting before the backsplash and counter tops are installed, it will be easier.
Some little girl stole this turtle from its home, took it home and painted it. Apparently this was okay with her mom and dad, because they allowed it to happen. She put 2 coats of nail polish, pink and purple, and then when she was tired of looking at that, she put silver (they think Sharpie pen) over the whole mess. Stupid people!
Mom did 3 tours at the wildlife center yesterday, and Meaghan, one of the educators, also did 3, so there were about 60 visitors. Mom's tours were great, until the last one, when it was pouring rain. She was still able to show everyone the nurseries, the animals in the habitat building, the foxes and raptors who live outside, and the menagerie. On the last tour, she left out the turtles, because it was muddy to get back to where their summer home is. People seemed glad to see the place, and learn what is done there for the wildlife. When mom got there, there had been 1082 intakes for the year, but while she was doing tours, another bunch of animals were being brought in, so she thinks by the time she left, there were probably 1100 intakes for this year.
Jeff lent some saws to them yesterday so they could cut some baby woodpeckers out of a log. Someone had chopped down a tree without checking for wildlife, and when they realized there were babies in one of the tree cavities, they called the center and brought in the log that contained them. The mother wouldn't go near them once they were on the ground, so the center is their best chance. When mom got there, she showed the people on her tours the log they came in, and was able to encourage people not to tear down or wall up any places where wild babies may be hidden.
Today mom is doing her final weekend tours before the summer. The pool opens next Saturday, so she will not sign up to do weekends at the museum until after Labor Day. She's doing 3 dinosaur tours today, so it's a great way to finish her weekends.
I hope today is bright and sunny for you. It's still cloudy here, and supposed to rain later today AGAIN. May you get lots of cuddles and scritches today, as well as your favorite treats. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Good to hear that the kitchen will be done by the end of June. Haha, 59 is a bit too cold for my mom, but a couple more degrees, and she'd be in there too.
This morning mom was assigned to do the recovery room. It was the first time in months that she's been in there. The little box turtle with the nail polish on his shell is coming clean; mom could actually see natural scutes on parts of his shell. She scrubbed him for the normal 5 minutes, and put him back in his clean cage. Now that spring is here, there are some different animals in the recovery room. Beside the turtles, there are some injured animals; a female mallard, a little garter snake, an opossum, and a peregrine falcon. Mom needed help to get the falcon out of her cage so she could clean it, but she put her back inside on her own. The opossum has babies in her pouch, so mom was extra careful with her, too. The snake came in with some injuries, and is bandaged, but keeps knocking the bandages loose. The mallard is pretty stressed, but mom managed to clean her cage with her inside it the whole time.
After the center, mom went to a local nursery to pick up some plants. She got some hanging baskets for the porch, and she thinks she has enough to fill all the containers on the patio and in front. There's a woodpecker who is excavating out a tree stump that mom has been using as a plant stand in the front of the house for years. There must have been some tasty tidbits in there, he/she has nearly the whole stump gone. The top is still there, but mom doesn't think she's putting any plants on it this year.
It's a sunny, warm day, in the mid 70s, so should be perfect for planting everything later on, when our blogs are done. I hope you are having a great day, getting some good spring weather, and of course, lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Those blinds sound ideal! Hope the weather cooperates there, too, so your mom can use the pool. My mom will sit out if it's 70, but won't necessarily go in the water unless it's warmer. She thinks the water is too cold at the beginning of the season.
Congratulations to all the winners from the Milonga Derby last night; Jenny, Cookie, and Chyna for their first place wins, especially, but also Dixie and Raffikki for place and show in the race. It was a wonderful evening, great party! Thanks to all who helped to make it possible, especially Chyna and the regular milonga crew.
It's really chilly here today, in the mid 40s and not going anywhere all day. Mom is off, so was going to get some planting done, but that's out the window now. I suspect she'll spend some time catching up on reading instead. She's started collecting her summer stash of books, but there are a few science ones in there that she wants to read, too. There's one by Bill Nye, another called the Sixth Extinction, and the one she can't wait to get to called the Field Guide to Mesozoic Birds and other Winged Dinosaurs.
Tonight she and the family celebrate with Mother's day dinner out. Her daughter made reservations, and mom isn't sure where they are going, but is sure it will be good. I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of the sunshine and good weather we are lacking, as well as lots of well deserved attention today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Having the blinds in before Memorial day would be great. When are they opening the pool? It's been too chilly here to think about the pool, but you know mom...
We're hoping to see the sun in a few days, but right now it's in the low 50s, and rainy. Mom and the dogs had a short walk, but they had to stop and talk to Jeff, since he was outside working in his garden in the rain. He dropped off several plants yesterday, so mom is going to have to get busy planting soon.
Today, though, is not the day to start. It's vet appointment day for me, then when we get back, mom has to take the car to get inspected and serviced. She'll have plenty of reading material with her, since she's going to have to wait for the car, and probably wait in the vet's office, too.
I hope you are having a great spring day with lots of sun, cuddles, and scritches coming your way. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
I Hope the brunch was delicious, and that mom and Shirl have a successful shopping day. It's fun to pick out stuff for the house.
Yesterday was a good Mother's day, mom picked up her new glasses, then got those coupons credited back to her gift card at Bed, Bath, etc. Then she stopped to see Aunt Ginny, who had made brunch for her kids. Mom ate there, because there were a lot of leftovers.
When mom got home, there was a message from her daughter, so she called. Jamie and her husband brought over pizza and salad for dinner, as well as some gorgeous flowers for mom. Of course, they brought plants: a huge begonia and some oriental lilies. They also brought over a new wind chime. Mom loves those things.
This morning at the center, mom did all the raptor mews, then cleaned the turtle pen. The baby great horned owls are doing quite well, and everyone else looked good, too. She also had the timer for the half hour incubator, so she was feeding baby birds in between the rest. She also managed to get a bunch of dishes done on her shift. It's that time of year when dishes and laundry pile up if nobody pitches in.
It's only about 55 degrees and cloudy right now, so the doors are closed. I guess we won't be going outside today. I hope you are having a good day there, getting lots of sunshine as well as cuddles. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
My big news: The vet is very pleased with my progress. The scab fell off my booboo when she toweled me yesterday. She examined the wound to make sure it wasn't seeping anywhere, and it wasn't, which made her happy. There is still one tiny hole where it isn't quite healed yet, but it's well on its way. I have a whole bunch of new feathers coming in, both on my chest and on my leg! Even where I tore the skin so far, there are feather follicles still there, so the doctor is pretty sure I'll grow them back. We have another appointment next week, and I still have the collar on, so no baths or spritzes.
Yesterday mom saw a hummingbird on our azalea. She got all excited, and will clean and fill the feeder today. It was a female, which means there might be a nest nearby.
Mom finally planted her larkspur seeds, but it might be too late. Our neighbor, who gave her the seeds, already has plants 4 inches or so high!
Today mom is off, but has some errands to run, so we'll be in lockdown for a couple of hours, until she gets back. It's a beautiful spring day here, kind of cool, but sunny. I hope you are getting some good spring weather there, along with cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Are they married to the idea of granite for counter tops? We are asking because mom got quartz. It's lower maintenance than granite and looks great.
Today is pretty cloudy looking, and it's cool out there, in the 50s right now, and only going into the low 60s. Mom will get some laundry done, and may change out some of her winter things for more spring and summer things. At least the quilt on the bed is finally changed to the summer weight one.
Today is my vet appointment, and it's at 2:40, which should get us back on the road well before traffic starts. Mom is hoping only one or 2 more, and I'll be okay. The vet hasn't really done anything the past 2 times, except look at my booboo and see that it's healing so we're not expecting anything else today. Mom is resigned to me wearing this collar until the feathers are more grown in, too. I'm used to it now, though.
I hope you are having a great beautiful spring day today, getting lots of sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Mom went with her niece to see the opera last night. The scenery was really cute, it looked very 2 dimensional, and was mostly drawn onto a white background, so looked very childlike and unsophisticated. The music was typical Stravinsky, mom liked it a lot. In fact, she enjoyed the music more than the singing, because the music was playful in spots. The cast was very well matched vocally, and the chorus did a bang up job! For an opera written in 1951, it was pretty good. Mom doesn't usually like contemporary works like that. They had dinner at Nicky's Thai Kitchen before the performance, too.
Today mom has to do a 3 hour spotlight at the new pterosaurs in Dinosaur hall. They are cicnorhamphus, and they are hanging above the hall. Mom thinks she'll be on the second floor balcony, so people can see them better. They are pretty cool pterosaurs, have beaks that indicate they were filter feeders, something like flamingos.
I think after the museum, mom will head to Barnes and Noble, then come home. I hope you are having a good day there. It's gloomy here, and raining off and on. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Those fabric blinds sound fabulous, and at 50% savings, that's fantastic! I know they aren't cheap, though, haha. Nothing that mom likes is ever cheap, either.
Today mom did the presentation of Hopi and ancient Egyptian animals for the new docent class. It was a little scary, because mom didn't find a lot of information on the Hopi animals, but she managed. She showed the class some of the things that lived or live today in the southwest, like jaguars, pronghorns, etc. She also stopped at the deer and elk cases, even though those particular deer and elk aren't from the southwest. They also stopped at the coyote.
Egypt was a lot easier to research and present. Mom presented the animals and the gods with whom they were associated. It was fun, because not only did they wander all over the second floor, looking at the African dioramas, they also got to see the dung beetles from the resource room.
On the third floor, mom did Bird Hall, but told them they were doing both Egyptian and Hopi, so they had to keep separate notes for them. They paid particular attention to vultures and falcons for Egypt, golden eagles for Hopi, then further down the hall, they stopped at the turkey (Hopi raise wild ones for food), quail, ibis, and a few others. The last 2 stops were in the cultural halls. Mom showed them the mummified animals in Egypt, and where to see the golden eagle in the Hopi area. All in all, it took the full 2 hours which mom didn't expect, but they seemed to get a lot out of it.
On the way home, mom stopped at Trader Joe's (always a mistake when you are hungry), and picked up some beet hummus, Mediterranean hummus, curried chicken salad, sushi, well, you get the picture. She went in there for broccoli and blueberries for us. Oh yes, she got them, too.
That meant coming straight home, though, because it's warm out and some of the things she bought had to be frozen or refrigerated. So she didn't stop to vote, but will go later, as she's not going to miss today's primary.
It rained here this morning, and apparently while mom was lecturing at the museum. It looks like it might rain again, but in between, the sun is really hot. It's in the mid 70s here. I hope you are having a great spring day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches, too. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
The kitchen redo sounds fabulous, and I hope you're posting pics when mom is done with her room, too. Those blinds sound interesting, and we love the color description.
It got a lot cooler overnight, it's around 53 right now. We were getting spoiled with those really warm sunny days. The rain was needed, even though we didn't get much, and the cooler temps are more normal for this time of year.
I only have until Tuesday with my antibiotic, and the pain med was done yesterday. Mom can see some new feathers!
Mom is off today! What a treat that is for all of us. She will be able to spend a lot of time with us, and she'll get some yard work done, too. Our neighbor Jeff gave mom 2 dahlias and an amaryllis. Mom found space for the amaryllis on the windowsill, but the dahlias are outside the front door right now. It's way too soon to plant them, even though they are growing. Mom is leaving them outside to harden off, but if it gets too cold, she'll bring them into the kitchen. I guess it's time to look at all the geraniums, dahlias, and tuberous begonias she put in the garage last fall, to see if any survived the winter. We'll let you know.
Tomorrow is a bird show, new to our area! It's being run by a different sponsor, and looks interesting, with presentations and even a movie or 2. Someone will be there talking about chop, there looks to be a lot going on. I'll tell you what mom brings home tomorrow, since we'll be blogging later in the day.
I hope you are having a great day today, enjoying a good Saturday with family, and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Don't forget to vote in the ladies' and gents' hat contests on the milonga page. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Mom says if we lived closer, she'd be joining your mom in the pool!
I went back to the vet yesterday. The appointment was for 3:30, so mom left super early, thinking she'd run into a lot of school buses. She ran into 2, so we got there before 3 o'clock. Mom had something to read, though, so we were fine. The vet looked at my booboo, and said the inside of my leg had a beautiful scab on it, so it's healing nicely. The outside, after she cleaned it off a little, looked much better too. It got hard, which means it's on a healing path. The edges are curling in, which is a good sign, according to the doctor. And there are some new feathers coming in. I have to stay on my meds: pain relief through Friday, and antibiotic for the full 14 days. She wanted to see me next week, but there are no times when she and mom are both available. Mom made an appointment for May 4, and called off from the museum that day. She also told them at the vet's office that if they have a cancellation next week, to call her and get her in sooner. They said they would. When we left the doctor's office, we ran into rush hour traffic, as mom thought. We were fine until we crossed the Allegheny River. There was traffic on that road until we turned off for home. We were about 20 minutes getting to the vet, and about an hour and 20 minutes getting home.
Today mom had 2 tours at the museum with second grade children. It was an animal tour, so she started both of the groups in bird hall. They all had questions about the birds! The funny thing was that the first group was all boys, and the second was all girls. They were okay for second grade, not quite as bad as mom thought they'd be.
Did you notice on the parrot newsletter that it's not i5publishing any more? It said Lumina, formerly i5 in the credits. Maybe that's why BC is doing better for the past 2 days.
I hope you are having another beautiful day. We sure are! It's cooler than it was yesterday, only in the 70s today, but it's sunny and pretty out. I hope also that you are getting lots of attention, cuddles, and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Your mom sure sounds busy, but it's all fun stuff. Hope your grooming goes well.
It was so nice to get a notice in email that we had blogs today, then we came to BC and found Coconut in the BOTD spot!!! We were thrilled, which goes to show that it doesn't take much to make us happy, hahaha.
Mom did her 2+ hours presentation on animals in the Arctic today. They finished up by going to the Polar World touchable things in the resource room, so the new docent class could touch various furs, kiviut, and whale baleen, as well as caribou bone. Mom thinks it was pretty successful. One of the new things this year was a great contrast to last year: the dioramas that used to be in the 'dark hall' are now cleaned up and brightly lit! They didn't have to try to find the raven, the eider duck, or the snow geese in the dark with flashlights! What a great change that was. Anyway, mom had fun, and she thinks since everyone was busy taking notes, that they learned some new things. They filmed it, and recorded it to put on the Trello site, so present docents can access it, too.
Next week she's going to do the same with animals of Ancient Egypt and the modern Hopi Indians. She's been finding a lot of resources for Egypt, not so many for the Hopi animals, but there's still a week to do the research.
I go to the doctor again today for a follow up. Mom is hoping to hear good news, but in her eyes, I'm not really improving, so we'll see what happens. She did spot some green feathers on my chest today, just coming in.
I hope you are having a good day, getting lots of cuddles and scritches as well as great weather! It's 80 here again and sunny, with samaras (Maple seeds or helicopters) flying around in the sky! Guess what mom will be pulling out of the ground in a couple of weeks? Hahaha. Hugs, Falco

Oh I love Pizza crust and cheese which Mom won't let me have much off just a small morsel to taste it.How is your sweet Mom doing? We keep her in our good thoughts and prayers that she doesn't have to suffer anymore pain!
Oh Nooo not the dreaded birdie cures and getting your nails done!My Mom does all our nails and my beak and my fister Celine's beak.We just had ours all done last weekend so we're good for another three weeks. It sure sounds like your sweet Mom had a really wonderful time at her Step Mom's Birthday party! It was so good she got to see her family and aunts and cousin.Your poor Mom is really going to be busy with all those birthdays!Your Mom's May sounds like my Mom's July with so many birthdays in one month! But to add on 3 graduations and a wedding and Mother's Day is really going for the whole month!LOL!
This morning was another bright sunny morning with the highs for the day of 55 the lows of 40 and right now its 62.There's a wind out there again!Mom got us up and made dads breakfast of raisin toast and coffee and then she cleaned our cages, swept our room and brought us our bean mix with mashed potatoes and cherry juice. Then Mom made dad his peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the workweek and then she came into our room and washed all our dirty windows that we had flicked grape skins on and other foods. She scrubbed our big play gym and then sterilized our water bottles. Its going to be another glorious quiet boring day here with Mom.Maybe if the sun heats up the deck like it did yesterday we can go out and watch her clean out the flower garden.Dad is back out raking up more leaves, there are too many trees around here and we have way too many leaves! Its just another boring day here and we're so happy that both Mom and dad are home with us today.
UPDATE:Mom took us all outside in our deck cage to enjoy the sunshine on the deck while she worked in the flower garden. It was so much fun watching both mom and dad working while we got to soak up some sunshine.Mom was going to give us a shower while we were outside but she couldn't find our spray bottle anywhere in the house. She said she'll buy us a new one the next time she goes out.We got to spend the whole afternoon outside until the cool breezes started coming through and Mom took us back inside then around 5:00pm.Mom can't wait to open all our windows wide to let the fresh air inside! My fister Candida wound up taking a shower in the kitchen.Mom was trying to wash the dinner dishes and she flew over to the counter and started playing with the water so Mom had to put the dinner dishes on hold while she got water everywhere and she even put her head under the faucet to get it all on her head and back!
Give your Mom and dad and precious flock all our love and warm wing hugs from all of us here!Don't you just love this warm summer like weather?I'm wishing you well on your birdiecures tomorrow and that its not so traumatic for you or your fiblings!
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm

I hope mom had fun at the party! She's so good about helping everyone out, but we want her to have a good time, too.
This morning I was captured easily by mom for my meds. I have to think of a plan for this evening!
Thanks to any birds who are considering going to the kissing booth for a two week stay. It's a great place to play! We've all been there multiple times, so even if you've been there before, go back and have more fun.
The milonga last night was fun. There were lots of friends there, and the pics were fantastic. Thanks to the milonga team for another great party.
Today mom put on shorts! It's around 60 right now, but it's going up into the 70s today, and she's planning to be outside for at least part of the day, getting the garden spaces cleaned up. The leaves are already blown off them, so she has to do some preliminary weeding, and maybe she'll even toss some milkweed and larkspur seeds onto the empty spaces. I know it's early, but they should be hardy.
I hope you are having a fantastic day today, getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
Mom has to go back to the cataract guy for a laser treatment but her eye should be okay after that.
Glad your mom has been doing so well.
I have been plucking at my right leg, yikes! Mom thinks it was stress because she was away, but I've managed to poke a huge hole in my leg. Mom is calling the vet today, so I guess I'll be on some meds or cream until I stop. My chest feathers have started to grow back, but yesterday mom didn't see them getting any bigger, so she's worried about that too.
Mom had 2 groups of second grade kids in Dinosaur hall today. Her usual reference to herding cats is not appropriate here, though. These groups were well prepared, excited, and full of curiosity. One little guy had to be disappointed because he wanted to see Spinosaurus, and we don't have it! It was a fun time for mom, though, since the children seemed attentive and inquisitive.
Now mom is with us for the rest of the day, YAY! Thast means we get lots of out of cage time with her, and we'll get tons of attention, too. I hope you are having a nice sunny day like we are. It's still chilly, but it looks beautiful out there. Get lots of attention, cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
My Mom's heart goes out to your sweet Mom for the back pain she has to deal with.My Mom's back hurt her for five days a few weeks back and she couldn't even lay down or sit at the computer without having to jump up.My Mom found that the heating pad helped alot.Has your sweet Mom tried the heat pad yet.Even 800mg ibruprofen never made a dent in my Mom's back pain, she thinks the heat pad really helped make the pain go away. That definitely is no fun at all.Mom and I are so relieved that the shots helped your Mom and she's feeling good now.Mom and I are sending prayers that her back won't hurt her so much.We are praying that the pain will go away entirely. It sure sounds like she's got a very busy week scheduled with the drs and watching her niece Hope and celebrating her Step Mom's 78th birthday! That is so funny that your Mom's Dad wants to pay for everything and is giving your Mom and her brother $50.00 for all the things they'll need for the party! Now that veggie tray and dips sound awesome and Sangria too!I do hope that you get lots of special attention too from all the party guests, you are such a pretty girl and so precious!Tell your awesome Mom's Step Mom we all wish her a very happy Birthday!I do hope that you get to enjoy some of that pizza crust and some of that veggie tray!
This morning was a dull grey day here with no sun.We are expecting rain here this afternoon and it has already started to drizzle. Our temperatures highs for the day will be 56 the lows of 40 and right now its 55.Mom got us up after she got dad off to work and cleaned our cages, swept our room and fed us our bean mix.Its going to be another quiet day here and Mom is hoping to get more things done before she has to go on her errand runs tomorrow. Its going to be another uneventful day for us but you won't hear us complaining!Mom decided at the last minute to clean out the hall closet and she had no idea just how many towels she had for dishes and hand towels. She ran out of time and has to finish it on Thursday when she's home again.Skin bro came over after dinner to see Candida and say hello to me and skin sis had wanted to come over this afternoon but Mom told her not to come over in all this pouring rain. She didn't want her to slip on something as she is healing from surgery from hip dysplaysia.
You really made my day so bright Cheyenne,it's always so good to visit with you.I always look forward to my visits with you! Please give your Mom a warm gentle hug from my Mom and warm wing hugs from me and I send you all my love and warm wing hugs for such a sweet loving girl like you!

  Hi Cheyenne
It's good to hear from you. HOpe mom's back is not hurting now. The BP should be good with the new meds.
The opera yesterday was really well done. It's usually done as a 19th century period piece, but the staging for this one was 40s to early 50s Hollywood! There were people watching screen clips when the curtain rose during the overture, and they actually showed the Bugs Bunny cartoon which used that music! The audience cracked up! Later, there were many references in costumes, behavior, and movie posters to things like the Marx Brothers (one of the main characters dressed like Harpo, and so did the tenor at one point: they did the I Love Lucy thing!), Charlie Chaplin, Singing in the Rain, and a bunch of other neat things. All in all, it was a fun time. When they were leaving, Mom lost her phone, so her sister parked on the street while she went back into the theater to see if she could find it. She looked where she was sitting, but it wasn't there. She went into the lobby, was talking to an usher, and another usher came up to her and asked: Is this it? It was! Someone had turned it in. Mom was so relieved.
Today at the center, she was assigned the bunny room, along with another volunteer. They had most of the cages cleaned, when a staff person came in to get some for release. They released about 15 bunnies! Mom and the other volunteer got to help round them up and release them. They were then able to get some of the ones from smaller carriers into the large cages, and get rid of about 6 small dog carriers that way. The room looks a lot neater now, but if mom is right, there will be a whole bunch more bunnies soon. At least for a little while, the room won't look so crowded.
It's a gloomy looking, rainy day so far, but rain is better than snow. I hope you are having a good day, getting lots of cuddles and scritches too. Hugs, Falco

Happy Easter! I hope you had a wonderful day! The Easter bunny brought all of us birds seagrass mat toys, mine has a cupcake paper poof, vine stars, and finger traps on it! My favorites, how did he know? :P The humans got way too much candy, LOL. We had a little Easter photo shoot with our Easter basket earlier...we all had our picture taken except for Honey and Pressie. They were too scared of the basket to get near it! Paris' picture out the best, he is very pretty! Mom preformed in her play yesterday during Easter service, and she said it went very well! She was nervous, but remembered her lines and did well. So did everyone else! She was very proud of herself and her friends. (: Hugs, Peatree

  Hi Cheyenne
Your mom has been really really busy! Hope she can get those shots, we know they help with the pain. We bet she loves watching little Hope, though. Happy Easter in case you don't get back here.
Mom found a new Easter Bread recipe online and decided to give it a trial run last night. The first loaf didn't raise the way she wanted, but it did raise a little. So she tweaked the recipe a bit for the next 2 loaves, and they turned out perfect! It takes way less eggs, only 9 for the 3 loaves, instead of the 18 she used for 4 loaves before. It seems lighter, and it sure raised faster! She hasn't tasted it yet, but if it tastes as good as it looks, it's going to be the new recipe!
This morning at the center, mom trained a new volunteer in the bunny room and the mammal nursery. The trainee wasn't allowed to do any of the babies because she hasn't attended baby class yet. Mom still showed her how to do the baby carriers, though. She was able to clean after the juvenile rabbits in the bunny room, but again, not the babies. It was an interesting training session. At the end of her shift, mom got to feed 3 of the baby squirrels. She loves doing that, and all 3 were enthusiastic eaters. It's tough to feed them if they aren't interested in sucking.
Today mom is making the Easter Cheese (hard custard) that she usually does, and later meeting her sister and brother in law at their fire hall for fish dinner. They told mom it was pretty good, so she's going to give it a shot. She may get shrimp, if they have it.
We may not make it online tomorrow until the milonga, if then. Tomorrow is Egg Hunt day at the museum, so Mom is working from 10 to 4, and has to make the wedding soup for Sunday dinner. We should be able to get to the milonga, though. We're hoping she has everything done by 7 or so.
We are praying that Uncle Chuck is okay soon and back home with Jenny and the rest of the flock. I hope you are having a fun day today, getting lots of well deserved attention, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
I'm glad mom's knees are doing better. It helps to have good legs to walk on, haha. Mom's knees are okay until rainy days or humid ones like today.
Another day, another egg: That's right, I laid another one overnight. Mom is hoping that this is the last. She read some articles about conures. One of them said 3-4 eggs, the other one said 2-6 was normal. This is the sixth one, so we're hoping it's the last. All the paper is out of my grate area, no nesting looking stuff anywhere in my cage, and I don't have a hut, so I'm being discouraged if only I'd get the hint.
Our crocuses are still in bloom, there are daffodils with buds on them, and the forsythia looks promising. The willow tree has catkins on it, too! Spring is definitely on the way.
Mom is helping a former colleague with sewing a quilt top today, so I have to be brief with the blog. She's coming at noon, and mom is hoping they are done in a couple of hours. I hope you are having a great day, getting some sun (none here), cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
It's great to hear from you again! If mom has to go to the doc's again, at least let's hope it's going to help her. Getting shots in the knee sounds painful, though. Mom texted your mom a little message, hope she gets it.
Mom is leaving for FL on the 29th. She can't wait!
I laid another egg overnight, for a total of 5 now. Mom is leaving it and the fourth one in my cage. Little by little, I've shredded the phone book pages and they've fallen through my grate. Mom is not replacing them with fresh papers, hoping that will help. She put a cuttle in my cage, but so far I've ignored it. She did read on BC that you could scrape the calcium from them and put that in food, though.
Yesterday mom got all her nails done in green. We don't really celebrate St. Patrick's day, but they do look good. Later she got her hair cut, so she feels better. I still don't know why humans do that. Then last evening she went to dinner with her sister. We had lots of time out after she got back, though. I think she felt guilty about leaving us alone all those hours.
This morning she trained a new volunteer in the avian nursery. It was an interesting morning, and the new person seems enthusiastic about volunteering at the center. She told mom she has chickens! She lives locally, too. Mom didn't know we were zoned for chickens. I don't think she will get any, because there are foxes that live in the woods behind our house. It would be too hard to keep them safe.
I hope you are having a beautiful day like we are! It's not that warm, but really sunny and pretty looking out. Mom will go early to the fish fry again tonight, hoping not to spend too long there. I wish you a day of cuddles, scritches, and lots of love. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
That sounds like a good dinner. Mom had crabcakes last night, but they weren't spectacular. She bought them already made at the supermarket. Her own are so much better. Not much going on here, the museum is slow this time of year and there aren't too many critters at the center.
Maxine and I have been giving mom fits with our shredding lately. I like phone books, and Maxine loves cardboard. I finished a phone book yesterday. Mom won't give me a whole one, unless it's the skinny local one, because I can't wait to get in there and shred. She just gibes me 25 - 30 pages at a time. Maxine is shredding boxes, paper towel rolls, and anything else mom puts in there. Needless to say, it makes cage cleaning more of a challenge.
Yesterday we did sheets and towels, and not much else. We've been getting what the weather guy called snow globe snow. That means squalls followed by some calm, then more squalls. Mom got the driveway and walkway cleared this morning before walking the dogs, and we're hoping they stay clean. The snow is supposed to clear up today sometime.
Well, there's not much else new, so I'm just going to wish you a very good day, full of attention, cuddles, and scritches. Try not to get into too much trouble. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
I hope your mom can get done whatever needs done soon. It's not right to be in pain all the time. Mom also has osteoarthritis in her knees, ankles, and hands, but it's bearable so far.
We're having an indoor day today, since it's snowing pretty hard outside now. It's supposed to snow between now and tomorrow and dump a few inches. The weather guy said it would be like living in a snow globe, since the snow would come and go like a snow globe getting shaken. So far it's just coming, not going. It's not laying on the road yet, but the grass and trees are covered. Mom and the dogs got all snow covered when they walked this morning.
The weather gives mom a perfect excuse to stay inside, get caught up with laundry, mostly sheets and towels, read, and of course, listen to the music she loves. Today it's all opera, all day! We will be sure to get lots of attention as well. There's really nothing else to report, so I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of well deserved attention, cuddles and scritches.   Hi Cheyenne
Wow, that sounds like a good time and great food! Glad your mom had fun. I'm so sorry about her pains, though. When can she get the next shot? I think it's sometime in March, right?
Happy Chinese New Year Everybirdie! It's the Year of the Monkey, I wonder if that gives us all a chance to act like monkeys all year long? Congratulations to the Broncos, too. We didn't watch the game, but Lady Gaga did one great job with the National Anthem, and Beyonce did a fine halftime show. We tuned in to that to see Santana play a little.
Mom finished the Pterosaur book, watched the videos from the AMNH website, watched the Puppy Bowl, and even turned on the Fish Bowl for a few minutes.
Mom cleaned the mammal nursery today, with 3 squirrels and 2 possums, all adults. None of them was ready to go outside yet, though, they each need some extra care. The little flying squirrel has a stash of around 2 pounds of nuts that she's keeping in a pillowcase in her cage. Everyone is letting her keep them. We think when she gets released, she'll have a stash to start with in the spring.
Someone brought in a fennec fox! These guys are desert foxes who live in the Sahara. He said he found it on his back porch, didn't know what it was, and brought it to us. The poor little thing is emaciated and dehydrated, as well as blind in one eye. They are keeping him in the treatment room for now and trying to bulk him up a little. If he survives, we think he'll be going to the zoo or to some kind of sanctuary. It makes mom so angry when people take wild animals and try to make them pets. There are enough dogs, cats, and other animals who make good pets already.
It's supposed to snow here tonight through Wednesday, but we'll see what happens. Those guys are wrong probably more than they are right. I hope you are having a great day today, getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

I'm so sorry mom's back is hurting her so much already.
We had a few snow flurries this morning, but it's all clear and sunny now. It's supposed to warm into the mid 40s tomorrow, too, but today's high is only around 38. It's been a mild winter so far.
This morning mom and Asmita, another volunteer, had the Runs to clean. That is an area where some of the education animals live, and there are some rehab patients in there too. The education animals in there are the turkey vultures, Sid, Vince, and Tony, and the 5 turtles. There are also some snapping turtles in there, a beautiful male mallard, a porcupine, and a broad winged hawk. It's always an interesting place to clean, because you never know who's going to be in there.
Mom is going out to dinner tonight with her sister, but she's ours for the rest of the day. We put some of our latest reads on the library page for anyone who's interested. I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

That's funny, how the family birthdays fall!
The chair is here! I landed on it first thing, but mom chased me off. I don't know why. We'll post a pic later. Willie got 3 new toys for his hatchday, so he was happily making toothpicks last night.
Today we are writing a short blog, because mom is meeting a couple of other retired teachers for lunch. She has to be there at 11:30, so it sounds like the old days at school. We are hoping they will have more than 20 minutes to eat, haha! After that, she has a ton of errands to run. We need wild bird food, she needs to return a gift, check out what happened to her Barnes and Noble membership, get to the bird warehouse here and buy more pellets, and a few other things. We think she'll be gone all afternoon, even if lunch is only 20 minutes long.
I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of attention as is your right! Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
That's a lot of snow! We got about 6 inches here, and mom did have to shovel, but not all of it; it was too heavy.
After she did the front walk, she texted Josh and asked him to come do the driveway.
Tell your mom don't stress about the weight, it's only a number!
It's a good thing mom called off from the museum yesterday, because Josh didn't get here until after 12, so he never finished the driveway until 12:30. She'd never have made it in time.
Yesterday mom went to the aviary with the family. Anna, Lena, and their mom and step dad had a penguin encounter. Anna loves penguins, so it was a perfect birthday gift for her. They brought one of the African penguins into a classroom and everyone learned a bit about penguins, then got to get close to her and even pet her. Mom hadn't reserved a place for herself because she thought she'd be working at the museum, so she stayed outside the classroom. There was a woman with a screech owl out to meet the public, so mom talked to her for a bit. She left, then a guy came out with a scarlet macaw and talked about macaws for a bit. After that, another woman came into that space with a spectacled owl. Mom got to see 3 birds up close, and it was great. She had thought she'd just wander the halls of the aviary, but meeting birds in the feather was so much more fun.
They went to Kaya for dinner; it's a Caribbean restaurant in the Strip district, and the food is marvelous. Mom had a vegetarian paella which was delicious. They came back here for cake and present opening, so it was a fun day for both the birthday queens, Anna and Jamie.
Today mom cleaned the avian nursery and the main aviary again. It was a pretty easy day. After the center, she took a few things to St. Vincent de Paul to donate, and now she's back here with us. Oh, she did a severe CD purge, not by listening, but by looking! She got rid of about 90 disks! Both Anna and Jamie helped themselves to some of the disks, and she'll probably donate the rest to the library for their annual sale. The living room looks a bit less crowded now, and since the buffet has been cleaned out, it looks better now, too.
I hope you are having a great day today, getting some sunshine and lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Cheyenne
You guys got nailed there! That's a ton of snow, hope mom is able to get out and do what she needs to do this week.
Congratulations to all the winners of the ice sculpture and dog sled races. It sure was an exciting milonga, and we loved it all (when we weren't getting booted off, finding old blogs there, etc.). Thanks to the team; Kiddo, Taz, Kaji and Lizzie, Sweetpepper, and SamIAm and the Scruffy birds for another great time. It was nice to see some new faces there, too.
Bree was here on Friday to trim our nails. I got my beak trimmed a bit, too. As usual, I was hard to catch, Willie was the drama king, screaming before he got touched, and Peppino was trying to bite his way out of the towel. Millie and Lily were perfect angels, as usual. Bree also said she could house sit for mom in April so she can go to the Orlando Bird Show, so mom now has to get busy finding tickets.
Today mom has already called off from the museum. Our driveway hasn't been shoveled yet, and this snow is too heavy for mom to do all at once. We think Josh is coming over later, but who knows what time? Anyway, she's not going to the museum, so she'll go to the aviary instead. She had booked a Penguin encounter for her granddaughters, son in law, and daughter, so she won't do that, but loves going to the aviary anyway, so she'll have a good time with everyone. After the aviary they will go to dinner, then come back here for birthday cake. Anna's birthday was last Wed. and Jamie's birthday is this coming Tuesday, so we're ready here with cake for all!
We didn't get a newspaper yesterday or today, hopefully one will be delivered later.
Of course that means we will all get lots of attention when everyone gets here. Until then, I hope you have a great day, hopefully get dug out if you live in this part of the country, and maybe get a bit of rain if you're in the west. Get lots of cuddles and scritches today, too. Hugs, Falco

  Hey Baby girl
Good morning...
Today I'm starting my series on how my skin family came to a close encounter with the aliens.
My introduction
When my mommy and the skins moved to my daddy's rez in Acoma the elders would always talk to her. They told her about how man kind and creature kind are very curious about most tribes of Native Americans because we are thought to possess great powers...

My mommy said she saw a human figure running through the rez with a rainbow one night. The medicine man asked her did it look at her???
She said yes.The medicine man than told her it was watching her.
He also said because my mommy is from a sky tribe and so is the Acoma the aliens are very curious...He also told my mommy that they would follow her and the skins in a quite and sneaky way.

My mommy went to a Powwow four days later.
This man named Sean Morten confronted her and introduced himself.
He wanted to be adopted by a Native American family.
Sean Morten owned and created the TV show sightings that was really popular 20 years ago.It came on every Tuesday night on channel 4 I think...Do you remember???
Anyway every weekend he would come to visit the family and bring a Marie Calenders pie...He would also bring recordings of the UFO's at area 51.It is top secret !!!

Tomorrow I will be bringing you part two of my blog. You will be totally blown away to hear what my mommy and the skins in my family learned.

Thank you for your votes
Love your forever hubby

  Hey Baby girl
Good morning I'm glad to be back...
My Mommy's surgery went well and her hernias were removed successfully with no complications.I told her to bring them home in a jar heehee!!!
My mommy had outpatient surgery and was off BC for awhile due to the pain med's not letting her focus...
She's doing fine now and her stitches are annoying but healing...

Today I'm going to start off with a short blog and tomorrow and the days after my blogs will be longer.

Everyone lets jump on our Harley Hogs !!!

Here we are in Roswell New Mexico...Area 51...
If you haven't heard of it this is where there is lots of UFO sightings along with other weird and scarey things...

For those of you who don't believe in these things think about it...
How can a whole town and state be wrong and how can the military be wrong ???

As I ask once again who are we to make these judgements???
Only god knows!!!

Tomorrow we will be exploring Roswell New Mexico and area 51...
Each story told is a true account of what happens here...

Trust me Cookie,Tweety and BB knows...You wouldn't believe how many times BB has caught Tweety and Cookie here visiting their alien friends...Heeehee!!!!

Tomorrow I will start my series....

Thank you for your votes and well wishes for my mommy
Love your forever hubby

  Hi Cheyenne
Your mom is so busy, but that birthday party sounds like it was fun! And Pop won money? That's terrific.
Today mom called off from the center because she's finally going to meet Lena for lunch! She hasn't seen her since she got home from Germany, so we're hoping she has pictures and lots of details to share. Mom also has her Christmas gifts for her. The whole family will be there, daughter, son in law, Anna, and of course, Lena. Mom is even getting a ride with her daughter, since they are going to a restaurant for lunch and taking 3 cars seemed excessive.
Mom finally got her anti virus up and running today, too. Her nephew installed a trial version when he couldn't hook up her original, and she had to call them today to get that removed and her own restored. She is relieved!
The CD purge goes on; there are now 6 in that stack which mom will take to lunch today in case anyone else wants them.
Other than that, it's very cold here, only 8 when mom walked the dogs. She dug out their little coats, though, so they were warm.
I hope everyone has a great MLK day, and does something uplifting. I hope all my birdie friends have a great day, too, and get some extra cuddles and scritches if your mom or dad is off work today! Hugs, Falco
