  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's going to be a billion degrees here again!hahahahahaha One month of summer to go and hopefully my rain will come back!
Russell Wilson is going to be a Seahawk until 2019!!! I guess he knew how much this 12th bird wanted him to stay! He is going to get a gazillion dollars! Well close to that I think! Now we have to worry about whether or not they have the money to keep the other players! I'm sure they make a whole bunch of money on merchandise so I think they can afford it! The players jersey's are 100$ each and this state is filled with people wearing them!
Training camp opens today and Taima is there! I can't wait to see the pictures! I follow him on Facebook and love to see all his pictures. Wish I had a wing span like that!!!
Have a great day! Leaving a vote and a big hug!
Love from Seahawk Sugar!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day!! I think it's hot just about everywhere now. I think we are going to break the record for the most days over 90 today. I guess they have been keeping the record for about 120 years.
Seahawks training camp starts tomorrow and Taima the hawk is coming over for a meet and greet! Wish we could get up there to see him but mom has to work the whole weekend. Everyone is very excited for football to start again. It seems rather dull around here without it!
We are finishing up laundry and getting things ready for mom to go back to work tonight. It's not much fun but I do have some new toys to keep me occupied!
I hope your day is just fabulous!! Stay cool and enjoy it!

  Hi Sam... Zak here
Our flock had headed home by the time you replied to my comment, so I thought I would write you on your own page. I am actually not the only Elder at our home, because an elderly gentleman had to give us his bigger birds when he moved to a seniors home, and Mom is giving them the best care ever, as she does for all of us. As of yet, the trust between them and Mom is quite limited, and it is a day by day thing. They are in excellent health, and are eating well, and have finally started to play as birds should, and in time everything will fit into place. Mom opened another room just for these birds, so they can remain together, and not get freaked out by unknown birds. Speaking of fundraisers, I must remind Mom to post something about hers, on Marley's Menagerie's page... it officially started locally here last month but it is about time to get things really going. November comes all too fast, and we have prizes to be given out. LOL Thanks for the reminder. I am off to sleep shortly. I slept in this morning, so i got to stay up a bit later tonight. See you again Sam.

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a fun day! I supervised the turtle tank cleaning and now I am sharing some oatmeal with mom. I have dried cranberries in mine and she has raisins in hers. I don't like raisins much.
The rest of our morning will be spent cleaning bathrooms and finishing up the laundry. Not very exciting but it has to be done. We finally got some rain back so I am enjoying that. Who knew I would end up missing rain???
I have my gifts for my elders and am going to drop them off at the Milonga page. I'll be there but will be silent cause mom will be sleeping!
Enjoy the day and I hope it's just perfect! Leaving a vote and a big hug just for you!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's still cooler here and it feels wonderful. We are suppose to get some rain later too! It feels more like what the Northwest should feel like.
We are getting chores done today since mom did not do much this last week! It's catch up time and I have to say it's pretty boring. I want to come out of my play cage but mom has to take Jennifer to work so I have to wait until she gets back! I don't know why she doesn't trust me to be out when she is gone!hehehe
Mom tried calling dad this morning but he didn't pick up. He'll call back later. She needs to tell him that our rent is going up nearly $200. He is going to be pretty upset but everywhere in town is the same. Mom and Ian checked out all the places around here online and most are even higher. We are still going to be $50 below what new renters have to pay. They are talking about rent control in Seattle so every other city is kicking up the rents before that happens here. It's sad since they finally got the $15 minimum wage in Seattle and now everyone is going to have to pay more for rent. Things will never get better for people if they keep raising how much everything costs!
I hope your day is just perfect and that you get to do lots of fun stuff!

It's our weekend so mom took a nap when she got home this morning. I had my English Muffin in my night cage and played with a toys while she slept. She has had to go out a few times but she's home now and we are trying to figure out what to make for dinner. Anything with corn bread sounds good to me!
I hope your evening is just wonderful!

I hope you are having a great day! It's hot here again so I took a shower! Feeling pretty good!
Mom had chores to get done this morning. The kitchen and the bathrooms were pretty messy and no one else did any cleaning. It's usually like that unless dad is home. He helps clean.
Dad is in Maryland right now and he is picking up Monster Trucks! Isn't that fun? They have to be in Connecticut by
9 AM tomorrow so he'll be driving all night. He likes that better anyway since there is less traffic! I wouldn't mind seeing what a Monster Truck looks like but they are in trailers so dad won't even see what they look like!
I hope you have a nice peaceful Sunday just like me!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It's been way cooler here the past few days and we even got some rain! I was missing it believe it or not!
Last week was so busy! I did not get much time on BC hence my absence from your page!
Dad was home for a few days last week. He was still working but it was all local deliveries and he got to come home in the evenings. There always seems to be too much running around when dad is home.
I have been molting so I have been a bit cranky lately. I bit mom a couple of times but there wasn't too much blood. She understands! I'm just cranky! I am still the cute, adorable, sweet Amazon the mom knows and loves!hehehehe
Back to school is in full swing at mom's store! The kids have only been out for 2 weeks so I doubt any of them are ready to look at back to school stuff yet! Mom says they do have really cute lunch kits and backpacks this year.
I hope all is well at your nest and that you will have a wonderful day!

  Hi Sam
Haven't heard from you in ages ... hope all is well.
We have news...
Tonight my parronts accepted a bid on our house. If all goes well, we will close on Aug 17 and be in Florida in September.
Also, mom's new car will go back to dealer tomorrow. The floor carpet has been damp since day one and mold is growing. Mom & I got sick but are ok now. Dad won't let us near the car. They better fix it as it's brand new!!!!
We had a hot and humid day here. At 8pm it's 84 and the rain will be here soon. Funny thing, it's warmer here than where we will be living in FL! We have summer but, for how long??? Mom wants to go to the beach but has to take her new car back to the dealer. I will be home resting.
Hugs

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a great day! I hope your 4th was tons of fun! Ian told mom the fireworks went on here until midnight. At mom's work it went on until 4am! Ian told mom he went to check on me a few times and I fluttered! That means he woke me up!! It was nice of him to check up on me.
I am sorry I didn't get many notes out yesterday! Mom drove Jennifer down to her dads house. They decided to go to Olympia first because Half Price Books was having a half off sale. Ian said that made them Quarter Price Books!hahahahaha Anyway, you don't really want the Bad Mom in a bookstore because she will spend way too much time looking at the books while her adorable Sugar is home waiting for her! Merlin was locked up in the bedroom and I bet the Bad Mom forgot about that! The Bad Mom was gone for 3 hours! A trip down to Lacey (where Jennifer's dad lives) should only take 1 hour and 10 minutes! The Bad Mom bought 9 books and a reusable shopping bag for $4.17! Great bargain but the Bad Mom should have been home in 1 hour and 10 minutes!
Now mom tells me there is a Half Price Books in Tacoma and she wants to go check that store out! Tacoma is only 15 minutes away but after this fiasco I am not sure I can trust her to come right back!
It is still a billion degrees here and today it's suppose to be a billion and one! I think I have had enough summer now thank you! There are no fans or A/C left in any store around here! Guess everyone should have believed the Weather Channel when they said this was going to happen! Glad the Bad Mom did and got us extra fans! I'm staying cool!
Enjoy the day and I do hope it's perfect!

  Hi Sammy
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, USA!
We got rain overnight, and this morning it was really overcast when mom walked the dogs. She came home, made the deviled eggs, came up here to the computer, and it's now getting sunny! That's great, it looks like a pool day after all. After the pool she is going to her daughter's for a cookout, then back with us. No fireworks for us, Daisy will freak out if she's here alone and hears those loud noises. Hope you have a great day for your 4th of July plans, and that all goes well. Hugs, Willie

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day!! It was about a billion degrees here yesterday!!! Okay, it was 98 but it felt like a billion! We are really big babies when it comes to anything over 80! Guess it's going to be like this for the next week or so. Mom got the portable A/C out and Ian and Jennifer spent the entire evening on the sofa watching a silly show on HULU about people racing around the world. It thought it was pretty boring and nothing was blowing up either!!
When mom and Ian came up here to look for a place to live, about 20 years ago, they were having a heat wave and mom thought they were all being too dramatic. They lived in Mojave at the time and it would be 122 by 10am! Now mom understands! The cool weather was a huge selling point when they were looking for a place to move to! Dad was already working up here at the time. Just like with the snow, the heat happens up here every few years.
Mom is going to drive Jennifer down to her dad's house tomorrow so I am going to wish you a safe and Happy 4th today in case we don't have time for notes tomorrow. Mom is working through the weekend but Ian is off so he'll be here to take care of me and Merlin. Neither of us are bothered by fireworks but mom would never leave us alone anyway.
The gardeners are here now and trimming all the bushes. I guess they wanted to get an early start so they don't have to be doing it when it gets to be a billion degrees again!hehehe
Have a fabulous day! Leaving a vote and a big hug!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! I have had a nice day just hanging out with mom!
Well I have 5 new cousins! They are all canaries! Mom's sister took them in after their previous people decided to move to Eastern Washington and did not want to take them along. It's really not a very far move so I have no idea why they decided to let them go. There are 2 brown ones, a boy and a girl, and 3 yellow ones, 2 girls, 1 boy.
When mom's sister got them she saw that one of the little brown ones is sitting on a nest with 3 eggs! Guess that means I'll be having 3 more new cousins pretty soon. Mom's sister asked mom if she would like to have some canaries but mom doesn't know where we would put them and keep them safe from Merlin. Mom's sister has a second bedroom where the budgies and canaries live to keep them safe from her cat. I haven't seen a picture of them yet but I hope to soon.
We have had 8 days of temps over 85. We usually only have 10 for the entire year and it's only July 1st! Guess the weather channel was correct and it's going to be a hot summer here. I have been keeping cool by taking lots of showers. It helps with my molting too!
Enjoy the evening and I hope it is lots of fun!

  Hi Sammy
We had some sun today, for about 2 hours, but now it's cloudy and threatening rain again. It's in the low 70s, which is really low for this time of year.
Mom was scheduled for the RVS room again today. She cleaned and fed 23 raccoons and a skunk baby, but that was only about half the room. She left a note for her replacement person on the daily schedule to let her know what was done. With raccoons, sometimes it's hard to tell if they have been cleaned or not, especially after they are fed. They paint themselves and each other with the food, fling it around, just make a mess in general. Mom moved some of the animals around while she was cleaning, so she had to keep track of their charts. Charts are hung on the walls now, to keep them out of reach of curious raccoon hands, so it's easy to switch them around.
Mom did get to the pool for about 2 hours, but it got really dark, so she packed it in and came home to shower and blog for us.
Carol(Cori and Booboo's mom) lost her dog Cookie this morning. They made the decision to put her down because she was not eating any more. It would be nice to drop by Cori's or Booboo's page and offer condolences.
I hope you are having a good day and getting some sun and cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

I hope you are having a great day! It's nice here this morning and I'm snacking on some apples and almonds.
They opened up the firework stands yesterday so of course people were blowing them up last night. I think this is going to be going on for the rest of the week. You can actually buy fireworks up here year round because they sell them at the Indian Reservations. They are asking people not to blow them up this year because it's been dry and they are afraid of fires. I don't think anyone listened. Good thing for me is that they are not allowed in our complex. The noise doesn't bother me and I like the pretty colors it makes but it's nice not to have to worry about anything catching on fire.
Mom has one more night and then we have our weekend! I do not know what is planned but I hope we can watch a movie and have some popcorn! Popcorn by itself would be nice too!
Enjoy the day! Leaving a vote and a big hug!

It was so good to see you at the milonga last night. I really miss our daily visits.
What a fun milonga it was. The music by Sam and the Scruffy birds was perfect, the food by Lizzie was delicious, Kiddo and Taz made a wonderful party happen once again. Thanks to everybirdie who made it possible. Congratulations to the winners in the picture contest, too. It was tough voting, we voted for everyone, so probably didn't help anyone to win, but all of the pics were so creative.
It's another cool rainy day today. Mom may go for her mani/pedi or she may find something to do here, like start packing up the kitchen. You never know with her.
I hope you are having a fun day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches, as well as some fine summer weather. Hugs, Willie

It was wonderful to have you back on the BC. You and the band did a wonderful performance as usual. I'm sorry I wasn't much help tonight. This was the worst Milonga for me thanks to BC problems (and our net). It gives me white pages with ... that site (BC) is out dated! Yeah, we know!!!
Did you hear that our house is up for sale? We will move to Florida after it sells.
What a night ... BC was acting terrible and our internet crashed! I missed most of the milonga and had to go back and read the blogs.
Today was nice, sunny and low 70's ... it spiked up to 78 for a short time. Mom hopes that we might get to eat out on the patio on Sunday, that would be nice.
Thanks every bird for all the votes, it was very nice to make it to the 25K.
Well, it has started tonight ... the summer people are shooting off fireworks ... I don't like those loud bangs ... they echo thru the hills and lakes. This will go on for two weeks!
Hugs

  Hi Sammy
Last night mom's nephew came to check the electricity in the kitchen. There is already a dedicated line for the stove, so he just needs to put in a few GFI outlets and it will be ready. Mom gave him a picture of the tile so he can match colors when he looks for flooring. To think this all started because mom wanted to replace cabinets! Now it's a whole kitchen makeover.
Update on the peregrine: He seems to favor one leg, so when the vet checks him out, hopefully he will find something that can be fixed.
It's a rainy day, with rain predicted for the next several days, so no pool or outdoor work will happen. Mom and the dogs got soaked on their shortened walk this morning.
We are looking forward to the milonga tonight, it should be a grand time at the Renaissance Faire! Our flock is ready to see what they can do tonight. Hope to see you there! Hugs, Willie

I hope you had a great day. We had a quiet kind of day. Mom had some running around to do and then we had to get dad ready to go back out on the road. Mom grabbed all his stuff and put it on the dining room table so he wouldn't forget anything.
Once again we would like to thank every bird for their kind notes! We hope we can get more birdsonal notes done soon.
Mom went by and got Mandy's paw print from the vet today. It's just beautiful. She is going to get a shadow box and put it in there. That should keep it safe.
Mom is doing some rearranging also. We are just trying to keep busy and find our new normal.
Merlin has decided to be my best friend now. None of us realized how much he would miss Mandy. He has been trying to sleep by my play cage but I got down to the bottom and tried to bite him! He gets locked in the bedroom when mom leaves the house because she doesn't trust him or me!hehehehe

I hope you are having a wonderful day! As some of you know, we lost Mandy yesterday. It's been so hard not having her here. She wasn't there to get me out of my night cage and I had no one to share my toast with.
She was ready to go. Mom never understood that until yesterday. When mom got home Merlin was curled up next to her with his head on her shoulder. Mandy had quit eating on Sunday and when mom sat down next to her yesterday morning she knew it was time. It was very peaceful and the vets office were so kind. They did a paw print on a clay heart for us as a memorial.
We are working on a new normal around here. It's still seems so strange not to see her on her blanket in front of my play cage.
Thank you all for your kind notes. We appreciate it so very much.
Enjoy the day!

  Hi Sammy
I really miss you!
Thanks to Aunt Rose for our beach pics in our galleries.
Our hearts are with Sugar and her family today.
It has been a few hectic days for mom, but all fun, for sure. Sunday after the pool, she went with family to see Jurassic World in extreme 3D with surround sound. It made mom jump a couple of times. The science was junk, but the story sure was exciting! She loved the raptors. The only weird thing was the heroine running in the jungle with heels. They went out to dinner after, and when they got in the car, there was a dinosaur shaped cloud overhead!
Yesterday after the wildlife center and the pool, mom texted Aunt Gin and told her Spy was playing locally. Aunt Gin finally got her birthday dinner and movie! She picked mom up after work, they went to Red Robin to eat, then saw the movie. It was really good; a lot of foul language, but that seems to be the norm lately.
Today it looks like rain, maybe thunderstorms, so the pool is out. Mom did get the fountain cleaned this morning, finally. The water was running so slow there were mosquito larvae in it. They are not there any more! To make sure they don't come back, mom slipped a ring of bacillus thuringensis into the water. It's not toxic to wildlife, but destroys mosquito larvae and eggs.
Mom's nephew called and is coming over on Friday to measure for the tile, the floor, and see where the outlets are in the kitchen so he can replace them with GFI ones. Guess we're starting the kitchen!
I hope you are having a good day and getting lots of summer cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a great day!
We didn't get to watch a movie because dad was watching a show about making over bars! The man on that show yells a lot and there are tons of beeps when he is talking. I don't think that is a good thing! Dad got bored with it but iw as too late to watch a movie by then. Mom says we will find something and watch it early on Friday since she working.
Ian came out of the bathroom this morning and he had shaved his head!!! I let out a very loud "wooger" and got onto my corner perch. He was bald on the top and decided he would just shave off the hair and see if he likes it that way. He says it will grow back if he doesn't! It sure was a shock to me but I started laughing when he came to say hello to me!
The lady downstairs from us has a very old cat. She says it has dementia now and won't come in the house. It sits under my bedroom window and howls which gets Merlin up there and he starts howling too! Last evening Merlin was up there howling and dad said he would get him. He called to mom and said she had to see this! Mom looks out the window and there is an orange cat in my tree! It's not the one from downstairs. The cat kept climbing higher to get to Merlin so mom took Merlin out of the room and told the cat to get down. It climbed all the way to the top of the tree and got on the roof! It went to the other side of the building and climbed down.
Mom has seen the cat before and really doesn't like that the people let it out. There are lots of wild birds outside and since that cat is not afraid of heights, it needs to be kept inside so it can't get the birds! We live on a 6 lane road so it's not safe for the cat either! Sometimes Humans are so dumb!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a great day! It's been busy around here with drawer cleaning. Mom had to go buy more drawer liner. I've been doing my part by yelling and making a fuss when she is out of the room! I am the bird so it's my job to make lots of noise!
Mom is looking for new placemats but couldn't find any she liked. She is going to try Bed, Bath and Beyond tomorrow and see if there is something she likes there. Dad spilled something on the ones we had and destroyed them! We have had them for a long time so it was probably time to get some new ones anyway.
Since mom is off tonight instead of Friday night, we will do our movie night tonight. Don't know what we are going to watch but there will be snacks so you know I'll be there. She wanted to get Jupiter Ascending but it's not at the Redbox yet. We'll find something we like!
Enjoy your evening and I hope it's perfect!

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a wonderful day! It was very pretty here and not too hot! It's suppose to get hot this weekend but it probably won't be too bad. There are big trees outside my bedroom window and it stays nice and cool in there.
Mom took a nap when she got home this morning. She took Jennifer to work and then went to the market and got some rice for us to share for lunch! It was good! Tomorrow she is taking Jennifer down to her dad's house. He has his heart valve replacement surgery yesterday and it all went great. He'll be out of it for a while and has to spend about 5 days in the hospital. Jennifer's youngest sister is up from Florida so Jennifer will get to see her.
After that mom will be home and we will have our weekend! We are still working on drawers and closets but there will be time for us to just hang out, which I love!
I hope your day is just perfect! Leaving a vote and a big hug just for you!
Love you ~ Sugar ♥

  Hi Sammy
Mom couldn't use the original mailer, it was ripped. She finally got the book rewrapped, so will be taking it to the post office tomorrow.
Mom is not waiting until December. She is going to have Home Depot, Lowe's and Patete give her estimates.
Today mom had 2 tours at the museum, and it turned out to be fun with both groups. She had a third grade class in geology, and they were knowledgeable and interested. When they got to the hall, mom picked up a rock and tossed it to a kid, who was surprised at how light it was! (It was pumice, which is why mom felt safe about tossing it.) The kids knew about how rocks were formed, the age of the earth, and lots about minerals as well. Mom took them into the gems part of the exhibit as a treat, so they could find their birthstones.
The second group was a bunch of fifth graders for dinosaurs, so you know mom loved every minute of that tour too. Mom is saying she thinks she's done for the summer now, unless they schedule her for evening events, that is.
Now she's home for the afternoon, but later she is going to dinner with her sister. She's anxious to hear all about the trip to Texas and her aunt's birthday party.
I hope you are having a beautiful day there, we sure are having a nice one here today. I hope also that you are getting lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sammy
We had nasty cool temps and a lot of clouds for the last 2 days, but this morning when mom walked the dogs, it was actually feeling a bit warmer. The sun was out, which helped a lot.
The guys who were going to do the kitchen finally called last night and told mom it would be until at least December before they could come and work! She's upset about it, because she was anticipating a new kitchen this summer. Now we just have to see if she wants to wait or if she will call another company.
Mom has some yard work to do today, and has to go to the funeral home to pay respects to her friend's uncle. He passed away 6 months shy of his 100th birthday.
If it's nice enough when she gets home, she might go to the pool. Of course, if it doesn't get any warmer, she won't go. We haven't been outside for a few days, but we're hoping to go out soon as well.
I hope you are having a great day, full of sunshine, cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hello Sam~
I hope you are having a good day! It is a wet, windy and cool day here in the Northwest. It's going to be like this for the next few days and then Summer is coming back! I'm enjoying it.
Not much going on around here. We have the kitchen to clean up but that is an everyday thing. The 12 inches between the sink and the dishwasher seems to be too far for some people around here!hahahahahaha I will of course supervise and give mom my opinions on how the job should be done. She would be lost without me you know!
Enjoy the day and I do hope it's perfect!

  Hi Sammy
It was really chilly here yesterday, never got above 54 or so. Today it started at 54 when mom put the dogs out this morning. It's supposed to warm up to 70 by afternoon, but when she walked the dogs, it was still only 56. It's also cloudy, and was supposed to be sunny today. Guessers were wrong again.
Hope everyone is wearing orange today in support of safer gun regulations, like background checks in all states.
Mom found the plastic things to put under her hanging baskets yesterday, so now when she waters them the water will stay where it belongs. She also found the bacillus thuringensis to put into the bird bath. That's a natural bacteria that eats mosquito larvae. She was happy to have found everything locally. So, it looks like the yard is shaped up! Peonies and roses are in bloom now, so there is a lot of color out there! We love looking at the pretty plants when we go outside. Mom is posting some new iris pics on my page, and her new nails on our pages, too.
I hope you are having a great day, getting some spring sunshine and lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sammy
How quickly things change! Yesterday it was in the mid 80s, with rain and some thunder. Today it's in the mid 50s, and gloomy looking. No pool today for sure.
Mom did get lots of errands run yesterday, so that was good.
Mom was supposed to feed the bats outside in the bat tent this morning, but there were no mealworms. One of the interns went on a shopping trip, but by the time he got back, mom only had 15 minutes left, and that's not nearly enough time to feed 7 bats. Instead, she put up about 14 jars of fledgling food, cleaned the outdoor raccoon and groundhog cages, and washed a ton of dishes. One of the (new) interns came into the kitchen while mom was putting the fledgling diet into large jars (think gigantic Jif jars, that's what they use) and said to mom, "There are no flat dishes. Do you think I should wait until there are some?" Mom said sure, it was okay to wait, but there was another alternative: wash them yourself! (What a novel concept!)
She said, "I never thought of THAT!" and proceeded to wash and disinfect the dishes she needed. Mom thought that was hysterical! Just think, if mom had waited for the bat food, she'd have gotten nothing done for nearly 2 hours!
Another new volunteer had a million questions, but that's fine; mom would rather they ask and get the correct information than if they try to 'wing it' on their own and do something wrong. She was a little afraid of the hawks in the smaller flight area so mom walked in and asked her to follow, so she could see the hawks were not interested in attacking her.
Anyway, we renewed our internet security today, and will finish up the laundry when mom is done typing for us. I hope you have a great day and get lots of cuddles and scritches, and maybe something good to eat, too. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam I Am
Hello everybirdie, Sweetie here on this first day of June. I have greatly enjoyed sharing with all my friend this past month. It has been mind provoking and educational for me and I have gained some awesome insight too. Sharing is after all what Flockcall.com is all about. The Advocate writers share from their daily life with Parrots. It offers the opportunity for everyone to share, express their thoughts, ideas and insights in a safe, nonjudgmental and encouraging form.
I am the last of the Sky Flock to run for BOTM. I follow a long line of worthy predecessors, King SKY, King Amando, King Casey, King Jesse, Queen Little Angel, Queen Angel Girl and Queen Zeena. I must say it has been a fun month and a great privilege to get to know each of you better in the process. The current Companion Parrot Crisis is far from over, and there are, as we revealed, no hard- fast rules or ways to resolve the issue. Too many Parrots, too few good, forever homes is at an epidemic level. If I venture to say, "all we can do is our best to share what life is truly like with a Companion Parrot." Perhaps one person at a time we can make an impact and make change for the better. If we do nothing, the problem won't just away.
I am one of the fortunate ones, I ended up in a safe place, and received the emergency medical care I required. The story often has a sad ending for many others who disappear never mourned or missed. Their life from start to tragic end a story of misunderstanding, neglect and sometimes intentional abuse. It is heart-breaking but none the less a reality for many Parrots.
I want to thank everyone for their daily votes and participation this past month. You have made my month purposeful. I hope that the sharing of information which once was Bird Channel will continue as we head into the future. I am now off to finish chewing my wooden blocks. It's a rainy day and perfect for some serious Parrot recreation.
Thank-you all for the honor bestowed on me, as receiving the title Queen Sweetie this morning. I tried to visit you all yesterday but BC would not let me post any blogs. Geesh. I would not have got here today without each and every one of you.
with love and hugs
Sweetie

  Hi Sammy
It was a weird day yesterday. It was sunny and hot, at least until 2, when it began to thunder. Mom and the others packed in their stuff at the pool and left. Of course an hour or so later it cleared up and got sunny again. Mom had already showered by then and needed to meet her daughter and son in law for dinner, so she just stayed home. Daisy has had the thunder shirt on since yesterday afternoon. Today it's supposed to rain again, but it's gorgeous out this morning. Mom fed the outdoor birds and watered everything on the porch, and is planning on the pool again. If it isn't good weather, though, she does have laundry and some errands that need to be done.
I hope you are having a good day and getting sunshine, cuddles, and scritches today. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam I Am
Hello everybirdie, Sweetie here with our Saturday blog. This month sure has flown by quickly. It seems like just yesterday I wrote my very first words, and now I an coming to a month's conclusion. I wish to thank everyone of you for your votes towards my quest for the Throne. Although it is not my ultimate goal, it is part of it. My main goal was to start some serious sharing and that goal has been far surpassed. Your input and comments are encouraging, and inspiring. We are but, one small group for Parrot lovers. Can you imagine what impact we could have if every Companion Parrot owner united the World over?
There is a sad trend among humans to disagree and even fight over what in fact equals nothing vital nor important to us Companion Parrots. All one has to do is view a photo on FB of a Parrot and dog to see the level of anger and opinions. No one asks if someone was supervising the interaction, or about the past relationship of the two. I am not referring to obvious dangerous situations were the bird could be in danger of injury or worse. Post a photo of a Parrot climbing into a cupboard, then read the comments left by others. There is obviously someone close by supervising, after all who took the photos? Instead of fighting over such non-essentials why not focus on what really matters?
Parrots are individuals. We have such singular personalities that there is no hard-fast rules that can work for every bird, in every home, with every owner. While one owner snuggles their fid, and another one believes that you should only scritch the head and upper neck area, neither is wrong. One owner might feel you should keep wings trimmed for safety and another that fully flighted Parrots are the happiest, both are right, in their own personal Parront-Parrot relationships. Every situation is unique. What works for one, may not work for another. It does not make one person right or wrong, it just equals the truth about living with a Companion Parrot. There are no straight forward, fits-all answers when it comes to Parrontship.
The important point is that sharing is not criticism. Sharing is openness to new ideas, and views. If all the Parrot Rescues would learn to live peacefully together rather then back biting they would accomplish so much more. That does not mean turning our backs on obvious wrong treatment, misuse of funds donated and outright abuse and neglect. Rather accepting that every Rescue, like every owner (yuck, there's that word again) is a separate unique situation. As long as there is mankind there will be good and bad. that is a sad given reality. Support those who are doing their best to help the Parrot Crisis.
Tell yourself each and every day that, "I AM a Companion Parrot Ambassador" and use your power to spread the word " ADOPT! DON'T SHOP!" and make a change one person at a time. YOU have the power.

Mom actually volunteered to work next Thursday since they needed some folks for a couple of tours.
We got a lot of rain yesterday afternoon, just as mom was ready to go to the pool. It got dark, so she put Daisy's thunder shirt on her. It helped when the big boomers came. We spent a good evening with mom, what could be better? She got lazy last night, though, and only changed the paper in our cages.
Today it's sunny, hot, and gorgeous out there, so it looks like a pool afternoon. Tomorrow morning mom's daughter and son in law leave for Las Vegas for a week in the desert so they're all having dinner out tonight. Mom will meet them at the restaurant, since it's closer to their house than hers.
I hope you are having a great day, filled with sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam I Am
Hello everybirdie. It's the weekend again and also the end of the month draws ever closer. I have had a wonderful month sharing and reading all your awesome thoughts, ideas and suggestions. The Companion Parrot Crisis is huge, far more then one small blue-fronted Amazon can tackle on her own but together with each of you we can and will make a difference. The general populous needs education and enlightenment about sharing their lives with one of us feathered wonders. As you all have so eloquently pointed out, we ARE NOT at all like owning a dog or cat. No one can own a Parrot. While dogs and cats are domesticated, Parrots are not, and never will be truly humanized. There is a problem when humans begin to rationalize our behaviors in humanistic terms. Our behaviors and responses are based on instinctive and learned responses just as those of our wild cousins. We can be trained to do tricks through positive re -enforcement but we can not be controlled or expected to obey commands as a dog will.
One point I have observed in my short 2 years of life is that people tend to judge us by our species not by our individual personalities. Not all Macaws lunge, not all Cockatoos bite and scream, not all Amazons are aggressive and unpredictable. The list goes on and on. We are singular beings, and although certain traits are inheritable we are also influenced by our past experiences. Companion Parrots can not be generalized into "types" any more then all humans are the same.
My hope and desire is that one day there will be no need for Parrot Rescues, and every Parrot will have a loving forever home of its own. The abuse and neglect will be in the past and every Parrot will know happiness and never experience fear or terror. Will that world ever come? No, but if even one Parrot can be freed from pain, released from it's caged prison, and receive it's very first spark of hope my life will be rewarded, and my purpose on Earth fulfilled. Momma Deb says she will not rest until she knows changes have come, until Rescues are not forced to turn away unwanted Parrots from lack of space and funds. Her goal is awareness, education and to make a change even one person, one Parrot at a time. She has no magic formula for making it happen, but as long as she has a voice she has the power to see it happen. One voice can start a war, so many voices speaking up for us can surely start a Worldwide movement to better the lives of ALL Companion Parrots, end Poaching and legalized trapping of Wild Parrots for profit.
The logo for our Rescue is ADOPT! DON'T SHOP! a universal phrase that says it all. It is spring and countless thousands of babies will hatch from eggs. Ten years from now where will they be? Will they be in loving homes? Will they be in Rescues? Their fourth homes? How many will have died from abuse, neglect at the hands of mankind?

  Hi Sammy
Our pics were done by Aunt Rose again for the Ren Faire.
Mom went up to the pool around 5 and there was nobody there, the doors were closed. Hope they are open today.
Today mom did the recovery room, and got to move 2 goslings into the runs, into a bigger cage and set them up. They are so cute! The smallest gosling stayed in the Recovery room, though, with a quail, pigeon, and some turtles. Mom also did the main aviary today. They separated the pigeons from everyone else in there, so mom had to be careful to keep the outdoor birds separate from the indoor ones. Inside there are starlings, robins, doves, and a jay. There are also 6 crows in there but they have their own wooden aviary set up inside the main aviary. Mom also had the 20 minute timer again, so she was running in and out of the avian nursery to feed the smallest hatchlings every 20 minutes too. It was a pretty busy morning.
When she got home, she watered all the containers with plants, and set up the fountain. It looks finished in the yard now. She transplanted some cleomes that sprouted up in the cracks in the front walk, too. None of the ones she planted a week or so ago have come up, but these are up and thriving!
Hope you are having a good day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Willie

Today was mom's last day at the museum for at least a week, she thinks. She's not on schedule for next week, but if her boss needs a fill in, she'll go to work. Next week will be the last really busy week for the year, then it should quiet down for summer camps and lazy summer days.   Hi Sam I Am
Happy Thursday to all my friends. Sweetie here once more with our BOTM blog. I did miss yesterday as momma Deb was called upon at a moments notice to help out with a rather difficult birdie related situation. All went well, and it has a happy, satisfactory ending. Today we get all Momma's attention and she promises extra treats for everybirdie who was so well behaved yesterday when our friend King Mikey D's Momma helped get us ready for bed.
Our month is quickly coming to an end. We have shared some very timely and sensitive issues and discussion and I truly hope each of us has learned a little or a lot from one another's experiences. A life with a Companion Parrot is never dull, never ordinary and certainly never boring. No two species are alike, and among like species we each have our own extraordinary individuality and quirks. Some of us are as bold as a lion, others as shy as a mouse, yet we all possess the inherit ability to melt our Parront's heart, worm our way into their every thought and garner their love and respect. I wish that this description was universal, and it grieves my little Blue-Fronted Amazon heart that at this very moment, Parrots are suffering untold neglect, abuse or worse death at the hands of mankind. Never did my Momma Deb in her wildest thoughts think she would ever be writing as a Companion Parrot Advocate. That she would be one of the ones to stand up against our mistreatment and to put up the fight for our rights. Life has a way of changing suddenly, and if we allow it, it can transform a one time breeder into a Parrot Spokesperson.
I am only one Parrot, but I want to encourage each of you to take the challenge to become a Companion Parrot Ambassador. Never doubt your ability to bring about change. Whether you are a "get in your face" type, or a "quiet, shier one at a time" personality type we ALL can make a difference. Just imagine if every bird loving Parront spoke to just one person about life with a Parrot, about proper care, feeding or even shared what it is like to be owned by one of us, the impact would be fantastic. We could make change, stop improper selection of species for first time would be Parronts, change how one Parrot is treated, or how it is viewed within it's own family situation. We might open a cage door closed for years, allow a Parrot to begin to enjoy better food, have room to move in it's cage at last, find out how much fun a toy can be, or receive the Veterinarian care it needs and deserves. You would be shocked at how many do not know that their Parrot should be seen by a Veterinarian regularly. The number who feel a Parrot only needs peanuts and sunflower seeds. We need YOUR voice to make change happen.
NOW FOR TODAY"S QUESTION: It is not a question at all. Please continue to share YOUR special MOMENT(S) with your fids with us. They are interesting, educational and encouraging to read. Your experience might make a difference for someone else too.

Come visit me, Mr and Mrs Sky and BB Thrift, Little Angel, jesse & Queen Sweetie, Thank-you friends for BOTM.
