Daddy (and Mom) took us home from the pet store (he was a falconer and had red tail hawks previously, but we smaller birds are easier...) If anyone is interested in becoming a falconer, you need to find a currently licensed falconer to sponsor and train you. You have to take and pass a test. You have to pay for a license. You need to have all the equipment to keep a bird - a mews (the hawkhouse), a travel box, a falconer's glove, jesses for the bird, hoods, food, etc. and everything is inspected by fish and game. Then when you have all the training and license you build a trap and catch a wild (first year) red-tail hawk, but during the trapping season. All novices start with a red-tail and you have to train it and eventually you take it hunting. Whew! Dad was the falconer, but Mom would tag along. They did that for a few years, but now they have us, the cockatiels!

  Hi Pearl & Silver
Well the folks had 1 night & 2 days at sea with the ships stabilizers not working .... thankfully the parronts not prone to sea sickness though some folks had some problems. The worst day mom had was she could keep her balance and got very dizzy .... she said she felt like she was drunk without drinking anything lol. The days we were at sea we had seminars that related to parrots. Very informative and interesting. Then on Day three the ship was docked in Roatan, Honduras and the folks took a shore excursion to Gambilimba(sp) park. There was Birds, Monkeys, Lizards, etc and they spent most of the day there before heading back to port and some duty free shopping. Daddy bought mom her anniversary, christmas and birthday gift there (Tanzanite Jewelry). Remind me to tell you about Day 4. Note alot more going on but it would take a novel to cover it all lol. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving. V4U. Hugs.

  Hi guys !
SNOW ! It's only Thanksgiving ! The forecast has been downgraded from yesterday at least - last night when mom tucked me in, they were calling for 12-18 inches, this morning it's only 8-12 ! I say that's still too much ! Mom is waiting to see if she'll have school - lots of districts around have already called it a day off, since it's only a half day anyway -

Later it'll be make the stuffing and chop up veges - pies are now done and in the fridge :) Yum, yum, yum :) What's up at your perch for the holiday ? Whatever it is, I sure do hope it's a happy one :) Is mom working ? Mom's niece has to work at 6:00 Thursday night, so her little boy, Landon, is having a sleep over with me ! love Cookie

  Hi Guys
I'm standing here before you, because I'm not behind you.

I know you've all heard it before, but I just had to let you know that our second favorite bird show is this Sunday, over in Plant City, also known as the Strawberry Capital of the world.

This is the show that's held outdoors, under a gazillion old oak trees on 4-5 acres. Out in the middle of no where. But it is by far well worth the drive, and we know good stuff will be coming our way. Mom said it's time for a new cage for me, so I might get a BIG present. Then we have to wait until January for our next show over in Orlando, near Goofy World.

Come visit me, JeTTa.

Mom says the whale outing was so wonderful and amazing. As for life vests ... they were on the boat but under the seats. She would do it again! But not the shark swim ... once was enough!
Yeah, the BC was a mess on Sunday and Monday.
This morning I woke to see the winter wonderland. Everything was white with lots of snow for dad to plow again ... hehehe. We got another 9 inches over night. Along with the cold, we will have daily snow starting on Thanksgiving morning. I have 2 new snow pics up for those who like it. I think I'll just go back to my perch for the day under the extra blankets.

  Hi Pearl and Silver
This morning was a fairly sunny day with temperatures in the 50's and it was warm considering how cold it was a few days ago.Mom got ready early and left to go to Nana's after she cleaned our cages and fed us our breakfast. Both Dixie and Mario had to stay home today as Mom was going down this end of town to complete her and Nana's Thanksgiving meal.Mom picked up Nana and they came back down to Hyannis and went to Trader Joe's and got some things, then they went to Joann's Fabric but didn't find anything there, then they went to Shaw's and both Nana and Mom got some things marked down and Mom paid her NStar bill there and then Mom went to the Post Office and then after that they headed back to Mashpee and went to Stop&Shop and got some things there and then to the nature food store, but Mom couldn't find any white millet for Mario there, then to Walgreen's,then back to Nana's where Nana made them some lunch of a salad with cranberries and zucchini on the side and toast. Then Mom came home around 4:30pm and as she was unpacking her car my dad came home and helped her finish unpacking while Mom came in and put the light on for us and fed and cleaned us out for the night. Then she made dad some dinner and now she is done with the dishes we are finally going to have Mom take our dictation so we can get our visits in!Mom had parked her car at Trader Joe's and when she came out her car was covered in seagull poop from top to bottom and now my dad has to clean that all off for her!
Our highs for the day were 59 and our lows will be 44.
They are talking some kind of storm for us here tomorrow,we are supposed to get one to two inches of rain and the temperatures are supposed to drop and if that happens the roads will freeze and my dad will have to go to work and we'll get no Thanksgiving! Some forecasts are calling for snow here and we have no idea who to believe!
Your sweet Momma sure was so busy slicing and dicing and getting everything ready,it sure sounds like everything will taste so good there!Don't you just love the way the house smells with all those wonderful things baking all at once?Oh who doesn't love crescent rolls too?Ambrosia is so good and my Mom makes that and might make some to take with her to Nana's for Thanksgiving, she will be home all day tomorrow to work on what she is going to be baking to bring to Nana's house on Thursday!
That new roaster really sounds like a greyt idea to have to use,and its so nice not to have to have all the work in cleaning it out like you would normally for a regular pan or oven! How awesome to have the salmon come out so moist and not dried out like it usually comes out in a regular oven!I'll bet the turkey will be so delicious and moist in that roaster!Mom and I sure do hope that your Momma gets to relax after all that work she did all by herself like that!
My cousins are going to have to eat their pellets as Nana is not going to give them anything else until they finish whats in their bowls, she is no

We got about 5 inches of wet snow overnight so it is squishy out. It was another good day to relax and snooze:) I never do get enough beauty sleep.

  Hi Pearl and Silver
If mom finds those crackers and reads the ingredients will know from that if she should buy them or not but has to find them first LOL.
The squirrels have sharp pointy teeth so think that is how they open the nuts easier then I can and dropping them from a high tree like you say would work too I bet.

Today mom was home all day with me since the parronts went to the grocery store last night. Mom bought all she needed (and more) for Thanksgiving. Today she was chopping and dicing and every once in a while I would fly over to watch. Just when she would be really busy I would leave and throw the nuts out of the bowl on the coffee table though. That kept her busy too and after awhile she quit picking them up. She said she was glad there wasn’t many in the bowl and the bowl was small. Doesn’t matter cause I sure cant get those walnuts open no matter how hard I try! “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole stair case.“ Dropping a vote in your basket. That's good your mom will get that game at a special price on sale my mom is hoping to catch some sales this week. When she was out and about today she got a pair of boots she's kind of been eyeing up at a really good price.
There's already going to be a mincemeat pie and pumpkin pie but my mom wanted to make a few desserts so she's going to make sweet potato pecan bars and a candy bar pie which looks like it's a big Cookie with m& m ' s and peanut butter cups in it in a pie crust.
The grocery stores were just swamped with people my mom is glad that's out of the way and she doesn't have to go tomorrow.

Well, happy to report that Mom got back from driving her friend down to her disability hearing in time to blog, although it didn't go well. That darned judge sent her back for another doctor's visit after telling her she should try telemarketing! How rude! And he was late too. She and Mom had to wait an hour for him, then they got stuck in construction traffic on the way home. Mom's friend was not very happy.

At least it was still warm enough when Mom got home at 1 for us to share lunch and then go out for a sunbath at 1:30. I only got 30 minutes outside, but the vet said that is good for keeping my feathers healthy...and I do look amazing!

No biting today, and so far no cranky behavior at all. Mom's now got a pretty nasty bite from me on the back of each hand, so I had better cool it for a while. That first one is a week old and still looks awful. Who knew my beak was so sharp?

  Hi Guys
I guess this is the really busy time of year for that store! I know mom still visits there this time of year.
Mom had fun at the wildlife center yesterday, she did the RVS animals again, which means she fed the bats. She loves doing that, they think they are so fierce, baring their teeth at her! She also did the raccoons outside, as well as the raccoon and ground hog inside.
Today we are going to make cornbread for the stuffing. I hope we all get a sample. If mom has the ambition, she will bake the pies, but she would prefer to wait until tomorrow so they will be fresher. Mom's daughter ordered a fresh local turkey which she will pick up after work and drop here on her way home.
Mom does have an errand today: she needs a 6 foot lead for Daisy's class tonight. She got the mat, the treats are ready, the clicker is in her pocket, but she doesn't have a small 6' leash. The one she has is really thick, too big for that little dog. I only hope she is able to teach that dog some manners! Mom has done her homework all week, so maybe there's a chance this dog will be better by the end of class.
I hope you are all having a good day. Don't forget to come by the Lakers page today to celebrate Thanksgiving with our team! Hugs, Falco

I missed you ! Mom came home from the g'parronts on Sunday and couldn't get on . . . she did some baking instead. She got up yesterday morning hoping for the best ? . . . nope ! So she did some Christmas shopping in her jammies. We were so happy when she came home from school :)

I was home with daddy yesterday - at one point I started growling and growling. Daddy couldn't figure out what was the problem till he looked outside - there on the back deck snoozing under the chairs (which are covered in plastic for the winter) was a big ole' raccoon ! ! ! Dad made lots of noise and banged things until he lumbered off back into the woods ! Then he gave me a piece of kiwi for being such a good watchbird ! ! !

  Hi Pearl and Silver
yesterday was quite a day for me. it was mom and dads 37anniversary and they were actually going to leave the house and go out for dinner. dad asked mom to trim my beak because he said the top was way to long and i couldn't eat properly with it. when mom took a look she saw that i had somehow broken the bottom half of my beak off and my top beak was about 3/4 of an inch longer. she wrapped me in a tea towel and got a good grip of my head and held my beak together and started filing away with the emery board. she moved fast because she doesn't want to hold me in that position for very long. at one point she noticed blood on her hand and thought maybe i had bitten her so she stopped to checked and make sure i was ok . here my top beak had started to bleed where she filed it down. you have to realize mom always is working on my beak and nails and so was very surprised to see what had happened in the first place and in order for my beak to fit properly she had to file it down to the right length which made it bleed. when mom saw the blood she became ill and thought she was going to vomit. she grabbed some flour and dipped my beak in it. then she uses a cloth and wiped the blood off, then she dipped my beak in flour again. at this point i suspected mom was putting batter on me to eat me for dinner. mom was so upset she told dad no way was she going out for dinner when my beak had been bleeding. what if it started bleeding again while they were gone. dad said ok and went out and brought dinner hone from a nice local italian restaurant. that night mom let me chase a live cricket around and i did and caught it and ate it all up. i was fairly quiet but that was because i was very mad at mom. today i m still mad at mom but acting a little better and eating with my beak. mom says with my beak so short i really look like a baby bird now

Hope you both had a nice Sunday and Monday. I'm finally back on the BC.
My parronts have been out on the Atlantic and Caribbean ocean in small and large boats and cruises ... they love it. The whale watch was in a small boat and they almost got knocked over by a whale coming up next to them. Mom was thrilled!

Sorry every birdie ... couldn't get on the BC yesterday. We had 42 degrees with rain again today. It was nice to watch snow melt. We lost almost 1/3 of our snow. But, on Tuesday we will be back to 32 degrees with snow. I guess I have to put that extra blanket back on the perch tonight. How about sharing some hot chocolate with me? Mom and dad went for groceries tonight and silly mom forgot to write the name onto the list of the crackers but will for next week though!
We couldn’t get on BC last night either. Hoping it stays on so we can get our blogs done now tonight. Sometimes at night after I am in bed and covered for the night I hear dad cracking nuts that sit on the coffee table. Sometimes in the day dad will crack one and give me some of it so he does share. I get on the coffee table and knock the bowl off the table and then check all the nuts out to see if I can get them open but never can do that with the walnuts. They are tough nuts! Mom buys almonds in the shell and some of them I can get open though but takes me a long time. “Sometimes I think “what is a friend?” and then I say a friend is some birdy to share the last treat with as I would share with you ” Leaving a vote for you. I am not getting outside for a sunbath today, even though it is just about warm enough. The problem is me! My mom was in my room drinking hot tea from her travel mug for a headache, and I decided I didn't like the mug....and I attacked her hand that was holding it. Yep, another nasty bite, and I am now in my room in time out. I know I have been bad, because I am being very quiet. Mom didn't really yell at me, but she did say Good-bye pretty loud and three times! Haven't seen her since except for lunch. I behaved then, so why am I still a bad boy?

I did get a sunbath yesterday, although since I couldn't blog (thanks a lot, BC) I couldn't tell anybirdy about it. Today is trash day with the big trucks coming around, so I might not have gone outside anyway. Those trucks really scare me. And it is pretty windy here even if it is 75 degrees out.

I may not be blogging tomorrow, because my mom has to drive her friend down to court for an appeal on a disability hearing. If she gets home in time though, I will still be able to blog. We shall see.

  Hi Pearl and Silver
I am apologizing for not coming by to see you yesterday!Mom was sitting down and getting our blogs done when all of a sudden we kept getting the Squawkatiel and then the 404 page not found and the runtime error and we couldn't get on BC so Mom thought that if she logged out and then logged back in again she could get us back on but that only made it worse,we couldn't get on period and this happened from late morning to the rest of the day and night,so here we are trying to catch up where we rudely got dumped.Mom has been having BC problems all week long and it just culminated yesterday when we got shut down entirely!
That big electric roaster sure sounds like a greyt way to cook the turkey in and like you said splitting up the prepping over a period of two days will help to keep the stress levels down and give your sweet Mom time to get everything together in a timely manner for everything to be set on the table all at once!
Nana spent the morning yesterday chopping up my cousin's pellets into smaller pieces and Trixie II started eating them and Bella(CAG)had some of it at least! You would think that Bella with the large beak of hers would eat some larger sized pellets that are appropriate for her size!Nana thinks she made the mistake of getting them on Madagascar mix and that's when they decided not to eat their pellets anymore so Nana's not going to buy them anymore of that until they get back on their pellets and start eating them again!
Its a dark, dismal, dreary pouring rainy day here but the temperatures are warm at 59 and supposedly going up to 61.Its not cold but having no sun and warm weather just doesn't cut it for us!Where is the bright sunshine? We only wish we could send you some of this rain we're getting and now they're talking of some kind of storm for us for Thanksgiving! All I can say it better not be snow! Its supposed to start at night around dinnertime so Nana is making the Turkey earlier so they can have it for lunch so if the storm does come everyone will be back home in time!
Pearl and Silver along with Peepers and Mario are all entwined together, wings wrapped around one another holding on tightly as they begin to hum and sway in unison and bask in the sunshine and joyfulness of their warm and special friendship which means the world to them all!
Wishing you a greyt day and I'm sending you all my love along with warm tiel hugs and soft tiel kisses and a vote for you too!Loving you always and forever,Peepers and Mario too!

Mom is just now starting through the 400 some odd pictures that they took on the cruise and she still needs to see if she can pull the video from the video camera. Now mom is in the Holiday spirit so I am hoping for new morsels comeing from the kitchen hehehehe ... you know me ... the way to my heart is through the crop lol. Hope you are well and have a wonderful day. V4U. Hugs.
Love Rudy

Come visit me, Captain (Cappy), Rudy, Dory & Dixie.

Yesterday was not a good day on BC...Mom tried up to last evening and all she got was that Squawk Page...See it is better today..It does not seem like there is much of a smell coming from the laminate floor and skin brother is looking for trim that is already stained to finish it..Then Mom will make sure it is okay to put us in there...Skin brother will be making our aviary but until he does we will have our own room in the our cages....We certainly will let you know how to Solar panels are doing because it is almost a month since they installed them....We are having a 60 degree day today and so that is is pretty nice but it is cloudy and a few showers are expected....Then back to the 20's and 30's by Thanksgiving.....Hope you are both enjoying today...Just pecked a V4U...With many birdie wing hugs to both you....Love you 2, Stormy :o)

`Ü´ Greetings & A Lovely Monday to You
Msrs Pearl and Silver!

I do hope that your Saturday and Sunday were full of fun and productivity. I know in my case I had to relinquish Momma’s eggsclusive attention and assistance on my Campaign to be your December Bird of the Month to more pressing parrontal matters around our K Kritter Korral. (The portion of Sunday during which Momma was available to bring me to your page for a visit, the BirdChannel was not cooperating. You might say that their GPS was out of order! **TeeHee**)

You see, Momma and Daddy were informed that they could eggspect a visit from my Grandma from Idaho from later today, to last thru Thursday morning when they all gather at Daddy’s youngest brother’s home about an hour away from us for the first Family Celebration with everyone present since Momma and Daddy have known each other. Grandma was eager to be able to spend time here with Momma and Daddy, and all of us fids of course, before joining the rest of the family for a concurrent Celebration of Thanksgiving and her BirthDay on Thursday! Then she will remain with my Uncle and his family until she returns to her home in Idaho later in the week, while my other Uncle comes to pay us a visit over the long weekend.

So, all of this is to say that my visits may be a bit sporadic from now thru the end of the month, due to Grandma’s visit, the Holiday weekend with my Uncle visiting, and the upcoming Milonga Thanksgiving Bowl Game. I do apologize in advance for any visits I shall have to forego. But rest assured that I shall continue to do my utmost to bring you the maximum amount of FootBall information in the time we have left together.

And on that note, let us get straight to the information I’ve promised you next about the Offensive Squad on a FootBall team …

Let’s begin our eggsamination of the individual Positions on the Offensive Squad.

QuarterBack – The Player who usually receives the ball from the Center at the start of each play. He informs his TeamMates in the huddle of the play that will be run and then, after the Center snaps* the ball to him, either hands the ball to a Running Back or throws to a Receiver.

Center – The Player who hikes (or snaps) the ball to the QuarterBack at the start of each play. The term comes from the fact that this Player is flanked on either side by a Guard and a Tackle; he’s the “MiddleMan” (or Center) in a contingent of five Offensive LineMen or Blockers. He handles the ball on every play and also snaps the ball to the Punter and Holder.

Guard – There are two Guards on every play, and they line up on either side of the Offensive Center. The Guards protect the QuarterBack from an Inside Rusher; they block Defenders immediately across from them and also swing out, or pull**, and run toward either end [of the line] to block any Defender when the ball carrier runs wide°.

Tackle – Both Offensive and Defensive, on Offense they are Outside Blockers on the line of scrimmage°°.

Tight End – Serves as a BIG Receiver [Oh MY!] and also a Blocker. Unlike a Wide Receiver, this Player generally lines up beside the Offensive Tackle either to the right or to the left of the QuarterBack. (Also “Strong Side+”)

Wide Receiver – The Player who uses his speed and quickness to elude Defenders and catch the FootBall, but who isn’t primarily a Blocker. Wide Receivers are also known as “pass catchers” [but I-I-I would parrotsonally NOT disparage one so!]. Also called a WideOut.

Running Back – A Player who runs with the FootBall. Running Backs are also referred to as TailBacks and HalfBacks, depending on their exact responsibilities and alignment.

FullBack – A Player who lines up in the Offensive backfield++ and generally is responsible for blocking for the Running Back and pass-blocking to protect the QuarterBack. FullBacks also serve as short-yardage runners.

I would also like to call your attention to a display of several of the basic Offensive Formations which appear in the Gallery at the bottom of my page. (They also appear in my Profile Picture at the top of my page; but they are much clearer and contain eggsplanatory text in the photos in the Gallery.) I hope these are of use to you in recognizing some of what happens on the actual field of play the next time you watch a FootBall Game.

I am also including several definitions of terms used in the above Position Descriptions at the end of this note.

Have a Greyt Day! Perhaps enjoy watching The Jets play The Bills at 7:00 pm on CBS, or The Ravens play at The Saints at 8:30 pm on ESPN. Both times are EST. Remember, it is virtually illegal to watch a FootBall Game quietly. So do what we Avians are most well-known for doing … **S*Q*U*A*W*K** . **I*T** . **U*P** ! ! !

À la prochen frois, mes amies,
[Until next time, My Featheriends]
`Ü´ Ruby Francesca Beongia ♥

*snap—the action in which the ball in handed or hiked by the Center to the QuarterBack, to the Holder on a kick attempt, or to the Punter.
**pull—when a player leaves one area of the field, generally moving back and then over, to block in an area other than his normal position.
°run wide
°°line of scrimmage—the imaginary boundary between the two teams prior to the snap of the ball. The Offense’s and Defense’s scrimmage lines are defined by the tip of the ball closest to them and stretch from sideline to sideline. The Defensive Team usually lines up less than a yard away from where the ball is placed.
+strong side—the side of the Offensive formation where the Tight End aligns. With a right-handed QuarterBack, the strong side is usually to his right side.
++backfield—the group of Offensive Players (the Running Backs and QuarterBack) who line up behind the line of scrimmage (vs the Offensive LineMen and/or Receivers who line up at the line of scrimmage).

  Hi Pearl, Hi Silver
It's Blue and Jewel.
We see that the BC is back up and running.
Yesterday was "Destroy Birdy Art Day". Mom cleaned our cages. And dad helped. All our hard work! Gone! Oh well, guess we'll just have to start over.
Bob called dad and said that his Palm PDA won't sync with his computer. Dad asked Bob to reboot the computer and then reset his PDA. Rebooting didn't help and Bob doesn't know how to reset his PDA so mom and dad may drive to his house to check it out.
Today will be clear, with a high of 87 and a low of 57.
Hope your day was fun.
Blue and Jewel.

  Hi Guys
Sorry we weren't able to blog yesterday. Mom was at the Galleria, a shopping area about 20 miles (through city traffic) away. The event started at 12 and ran to 4, but the folks from the wildlife center wanted all the volunteers there at 11 to help set things up, and of course, they stayed at the end to put it all back in the vans. Mom and her partner had Quincy and Dan Quail; Jake the snake was at another table, and Ray the crow was in still another location on the second level. On the third level there were programs every hour featuring Murphy the skunk and Martha the Great Horned Owl. There were also refreshments and kid crafts, as well as face painting on that level. It was a fairly large event to organize and pull off so far from the center, but a local auto company outfitted a van and donated it for a year. It has cages in it, and is comfortable for a lot of animals, and has cats, dogs, and wild animals painted on the sides so we can now transport critters to events and hopefully make more cash.
Anyway, mom was pretty tired when she got home so she spent the evening cuddling with us and crocheting things for Christmas.
Today mom has 2 public tours in Dinosaur hall, but she'll be home making out the shopping list for Thanksgiving and being with us afterwards. We were going to try a Hubbard squash pie this year, but mom left the squash on the back deck, and it froze, so it's not good for anything except squirrels and deer now. Mom tossed it and the pumpkins over the hill for the animals this morning.
Our weather, after freezing rain yesterday morning (during the drive, of course), has turned warmer. It was in the high 40s when we got up today, and it's supposed to carry through until tomorrow, and be nice once again. It's probably our last hurrah, though. We can expect wintery conditions to get here again on Wednesday. Oh, and the furnace is finally up and running reliably after the guy replaced some pressure switches on Friday. I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of attention and love. Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Happy Thanksgiving, Peppino, Happy Thanksgiving, Divo & Falco, Happy Thanksgiving.

  Hi Pearl, Hi Silver
It's Blue and Jewel.
Mom and dad were going to stay home all day, yesterday. Then mom got the idea of roasting some tomatoes and other veggies and making tomato soup. Dad had to go to Smart and Final for some veggies but he came right home. Then they both left for some big sale at mom's favorite jewelry store. She said that she wasn't going to buy anything. WRONG!! We all noticed new earrings on her ears. Good thing we don't sit on her shoulders cuz we'd have them all chewed up in no time. They brought Subway sandwiches home for dinner. We did get to sample some of them. YUM!
Today will be clear, with a high of 75 and a low of 53. No telling what mom and dad will be doing today.
Hope your day was fun.
Blue and Jewel.

Many still struggling south of Buffalo
Hello from Buffalo. We are well, but many South of where we live continue to dig out and continue to struggle from the massive storm. Now the temps are rising and they're getting some melting - adding weight to the snow on their roofs. They are encountering flooding and collapsing structures. Please keep them all in prayer.

Daddy and I are well -helping friends and neighbors on light errands where we can.

Come visit me, Flitzer.
