ah.... I see he is a peach fronted,
but very similiar although the Half Moon has a lighter beak..
how do you like the conures?? My neice had a pearly but lost her about a month ago due to a sad accident..

Hey Cody!
It looks like Polly will be coming home with us either later today or tomorrow. His owner can't afford to feed him anymore. That's perfectly okay with me! I can't wait to have my naked chicken home! Today I'm going to be making some Birdie bread, carving pumpkins, and drying the pumpkin seeds for the fids. We're also going to be trying Bee Pollen on the bird's food (supposed to be good for pluckers), and changing the bird's diet over to Lafeber stuff (they were awesome and are sending me lots of free samples). Going to try spraying aloe vera juice mixed with water on the naked birds too, and we're looking for heated perches. This combo of stuff has worked really well for a lady I talked to this morning (she has pluckers too) so hopefully we'll see improvement here as well. Momma here
I believe my rough start to life made me a better person. I definately know what not to do with my life if not anything else. And it's made my connection with birds much stronger. Speaking of which, I got to visit Polly last night! We had a really good bonding session and I finally was able to take a picture of him and get his profile set up. You should go check it out! He spent a good 45 minutes cuddling with me and preening very close to my chest. That was a huge step.Come visit me, Babe, Maverick & Shaira, Rico, Kiwi, Rocky, Silly, Ichigo & Benny.

Yeah, poor Polly will never have normal looking feathers again.
My husband and I went to a bird fair Saturday and I got lots of new toys for the fids and I even got to hold a female African Grey! She was so sweet- it was the first time I got to handle one that was nice. After the fair, we went to a bird store where I finally got a shower perch and made friends with a Blue and Gold Macaw. He was sooo cute. He greeted me with a loud, "Hi!" Then stuck out his foot, held my hand, and let me scratch under his wing. He squawked for me when I had to leave and I felt sooo bad I couldn't take him home with me. Birds sure know how to melt my heart! Momma met the Hahn's Macaw last night, his name is Polly and he's 12 years old. He's also extremely naked.... he's way worse than Kiwi is. But Momma says he's sooo sweet! He sat real close to her and talked to her the whole time she was there. He even eventually stepped onto her hand, ran up onto her shoulder, and gave her kisses! Momma says she fell in love again last night lol. The owner is really upset about having to let Polly go, and she was skeptical about Mom at first but when she saw how much Polly liked her, she invited her back to visit a few more times and get to know Polly so she can bring him home.
Poor Polly's story is that he was mated with another Hahn's, and the previous owner decided to seperate them and sell them individually. He never saw his mate again, and then was pretty neglected, which is when he started plucking. The lady he lives with now got him 6 years ago as a rescue already naked, and he's just been plucking for so long that his follicles are damaged. Any new feathers that come in look like they went thru a shredder =(

Momma bird here!
My house is getting full! Hopefully we will be getting a bigger one soon, because I've just been volunteered to take in a naked Hahns Macaw! I don't know for sure if he will be coming home with me or not, but I'm going to meet him tomorrow. From what little I've heard, the poor thing has a sad past and was abused =( And he is getting to be too much for his owner to handle I guess, because she doesn't know how to make him better, and it's breaking her heart. Maybe he'll do better in my home as I never give up on my babies no matter how damaged they are.
Had a really good weekend, the best I've had in awhile since I got pregnant, went out to Ihop and visited some pet stores, played with a Cockatoo, and got some new toys and treats for the birds. Foraging boxes! Great things those are! I highly reccomend them for anyone who's got destructive or bored birds. Keeps Ichi quiet and entertained for hours! And the bird bath spray seems to be a hit as well. It's got natural preening gland oil, bird safe cleansers, and anti itch stuff for molting birds.
