 I wanted to get a feathered companion when I moved away from my family to attend nursing school. I researched all kinds of different parrots and I ended up being very drawn to Meyer's parrots. I found a responsible breeder in my area and waited for her to hatch! It was love at first sight when I visited the breeder to pick out my baby! She snuggled right into me as she sat on my shoulder. I named her Tulia, which means "calm and peaceful" in Swahili, because she was the calmest of all her siblings. However, she quickly outgrew her name when she settled into my home and began loudly chattering and chirping away! She's a mischievous girl! But she continues to bring peace, tranquility, and incredible joy to my life, so her name will always be fitting in my eyes (even if not to my neighbor's ears!). |

Hi Tulia,
It was so nice to hear from you. Happy New Year to You and your Mom also. I hope it's a good one for all of us. We're gonna be good Girls this year right Tulia? LOL Mommy's doing Okay. She's in pain everyday but some days are better than others. She also feels bad for people who are worse off than her. Mommy lost her beloved Siamese, Kokomo who was 15 yrs. old in Sept. Her and Koda (her Siamese who will be 4 yrs. old in Feb.) are upset and miss him terribly. But the end of this month Mommy is getting another Siamese Kitten to help ease the pain in her heart. You think my Mom loves the Breed?? She's had Siamese for probably a good 30 yrs. sometimes 2 or 3 at a time. She first had Bamboo & Wicker, then came Six Pence cause he had extra toes, then CoCo, Kokomo and Koda. Mommy's trying to come up with a name for the new Baby like Logan, Marcus, Kameron (Kami for short) or Kimba (after Kimba the White Lion). Does your Mommy remember that Cartoon? She might me too young. My Mom is 56 yrs. old but don't tell her I told you that.
We had a very nice Christmas also. Mommy had Christmas Eve with her Family and Christmas at home. She also said she ate way too much food! It's always like that during the Holidays. Our New Years Eve was quiet and New Years Day we had company. Today was nice and quiet just the way I like it LOL.

So nice to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing well but how is your Mommy really doing? It takes time to get over things that your Mommy went through so please be real good and nice to her Okay? My Mommy is still home. She went for something called injections in her Spine twice already and on Thurs. she's getting 2 shots in the nerves around her Spine I think that's what she said to me. But I'm just happy she's home with us. I've been pretty good. I love to sit on Mommy when she's on her laptop and sometimes I even fall asleep on her shoulder. Sorry you had to move again, that's got be hard on your Mom also. Okay, well you enjoy the nice weather that your having and so are we right now. I mean come on we had 20" of rain in Aug. and over 7" last week alone. Enough already Mother Nature why don't you give it to those poor people in Texas and Oklahoma who need it to put how those fires! My Mommy is so afraid of fires. That has to be one of the worse things in life besides going through the death of a love one. Talk to you again soon I hope. I'm gonna vote for you as always. So very sorry about your Mom's break up and her losing the Puppy to her EX. That's gotta be so hard. I mean to lose one thing is hard enough but 2 is even harder. You better be real nice to your Mom especially right now cause she needs you to be. You'll have to be very patient with her. So you parked your "Tree" in front of the bay window in your new place did you? I'm sure you can see the comings and goings on out there in that scary place. So glad we're inside nice and protected. I mean we're in nice homes, fed and we're showered and our cages are cleaned. What more can we ask for?
Update on my Mommy: She had 2 shots in her Spine and it did take the edge off. But on Sept. 8th she's getting 2 shots in the Nerves around the Spine. So we'll see what that does. She's taking pain pills (percocets and neurotin) and med's for the Nerves. She's trying everything but an operation whatever that is. She doesn't want that.

How are you doing? It's your Friend Cheyenne. My Mom has Spinal Stenosis and that's why she's in such pain but she went for 2 shots in her Spine and they helped a little. She's been home since June 22nd until the end of Sept. something they call Short Term Disability. I don't know what that is but I bet your Mommy does! So how's your Friend the Puppy doing? Getting use to that Creature yet?? Guess you don't have much of a choice do you? Well look you have the Puppy and I have 3 others in my Flock! Hi! Tulia,
How are you doing? How's that darn Puppy of your Mom's doing? Are you getting use to him yet? I guess you better cause I'm sure he's there to stay! Not too much going on here. Mommy was off this week but she had lots of Dr. appts. You know yearly physical, mammo and she had to get a Cat Scan cause she's been having a lot of pain in her legs. But the Dr. thinks it's all Arthritic cause (she has that everywhere) it's coming from the middle of her back. She also took her off Zocor and Fosamax cause they also cause leg pain. So she's just been busy with appts. but Sunday we're having company and celebrating 5 Birthdays and Monday Mom says she just wants to relax and only have to take care of us.
Well, hope you have a nice Memorial Day Weekend. Before I go I'm gonna vote for you. Bye for now.
Oh I forgot the best part guess what? I'm gonna be Bird of the Day on May 29th so could you vote for me on May 28th that would be great. Punkin here. I have a quest to follow Queen Falco as BOTM. I need lots of help though. Could you support me? I'm also letting everybirdie know flowers they can EAT! There's so many different flowers that I can put 2-3 up sometimes. hehehe
Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) - Sweet honey flavor. Only the flowers are edible. NOTE: Berries are highly poisonous - Do not eat them!
Primrose (Primula vulgaris) - Also know as Cowslip. This flower is colorful with a sweet, but bland taste. Add to salads, pickle the flower buds, cook as a vegetable, or ferment into a wine.
UPDATE ON BIRD: SHE CAME HOME YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT. SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE TOUCHED BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEEDLES FOR BLOOD AND X-RAYS AND STUFF. THIS MORNING HER LEFT FOOT IS USABLE!!!! NEARLY BACK TO NORMAL. WE ARE SOOOOOO HAPPY. MOM'S STILL GONNA GIVE HER SOME PAIN MEDS THOUGH.

Oh I know exactly how you're feeling. Besides our Flock we also have 2 Siamese Cats! But I'm not afraid of any of them. In fact one time when Mommy was cleaning my cage I flew down and went beak to nose with the younger one Koda (He's 3 yrs. old and Kokomo is almost 15 yrs. old). Well, Mommy screamed and that stupid Baby Cat ran like crazy but not Me! Mommy said to me Are You Crazy? Koda Could Eat You? But he didn't cause he's afraid of me LOL! I know I don't like sharing my Mommy with any of them! I would also like ALL of her attention! But I guess that's life right my Friend? Okay, well have a nice weekend. We haven't sqwauk for sometime:( we have so many friends here On BC, it's amazing:)
We try to respond to everybirdie but sometimes it hard. Our mama is constantly working, then when she gets some time we fight her to get on the computer. She tells us she has alot of stuff to do....whatever that is! We wanna sqwauk, sqwauk, sqwauk all the time:))

I like all those pictures of you except the first 3 cause they make you look scary. Anyway, how are you doing? Hope all is well in your new home. Hey, do you have any room up there for me? LOL. Well, I done did it again. I bit my Mommy really hard tonight and it hurt her finger and her feelings. I didn't want to go back in my cage and I had to cause she had a Drs. appt. (Chiropractor) for her back. So I went and bit her. Now she says I'm grounded at least for the rest of the night! But who knows maybe longer HELP!!! Sorry that I have not been on. Mommy has been super busy. I can't remember if I told you before that we were going to bring a baby brother home soon? Well, we brought my little brother home today. His name is Rhett Butler and he is only 7 weeks old. Mommy says that he hatched on 1/27/11. Be sure to come by and look at his pictures. Mommy is not sure how to incorporate both our profiles. She created one for him and hopes that everyone will be able to click on his from mine. Any advise that you can offer will be appreciated.
I am not sure what to make of him yet. I am sure that I will get used to having him around eventually.
