Hi! My name is Ginie and Jojo

I am a Budgerigar from burnaby, BC.

yes,pumpkine pie,baby,cutie

10 years old   F

Spray millet, apple.

Very high places, just need to be above our owners' heads.

i think that they are so bored in their home, that they will kick the food all messy.

They play a lot with us. They clean our mess and give us food everyday.

jojo is scared of bathing, she wants to bath, but she does not know how to. they always screech loudly, for no reasons. they kiss, pass food to each other, mate, and groom just like two l.

  The bathing thing.
My little parrotlet did not like to bathe often. Usually it was in her water dish. I tried bird bathtubs, shallow bowls, etc. Then one day I found my "Cha-Cha", in my cup of cold Starbucks frapachino coffee, just a
flicking her wings and tail in it.So cute! That was an expensive bath at $1.79 per bottle.

Hi Ginie and Jojo Here is another tip. :)
If your birds do not know how to get into the water or how to bathe, I would start with a mister. The gentler the better. Once he falls in love with the mister and looks forward to be misted, place him infront of a pool of water. Dip your finger in it and tell the budgie how much fun it is! Splash and swirl the water gently with your finger and tell him that there is nothing better. Continue this step untill he understands what it is. Praise him when he steps onto the bowl or pool edge. He may expiriment with the water by dipping his beak into it and putting his foot in it. When he is confident enough to bathe, praise him and let him enjoy the wonderful water.

What I started doing with my budgies, I placed a familiar perch into my shower anderneath the shower stream. Make sure the water is not too hot incase he flies into the stream. He will be uneasy at first but he will soon enjoy it. This is a very good idea because it is a good way to bond with the bird. Before you take a shower with your bird, do not run the water and place them on the perch. Then step inside the shower. When you all are togethor, talk to them and when they calm down and seem to enjoy the space, take them out and do it again the next day. When the become familiar with the shower, turn the water on and watch them have some fun.

If all else fails, stick to the mister.
Take Care!

Hi Milo and Lea here (bathing Tip)
For bathing, mabe we should go back to step 1 if your friends are afraid of those things. Do not worry, to be afraid of things they do not understand is perfectly normal. My budgies had the same problem. Start with putting a bath area in your cage. If you have done that and it is effective, place it beside the cage. It might take them a few days to get used to it but once they bathe in it, move into step 3. Find a table that is waterproof and place it next to the cage. Put the bath and some seed on the table. Once they are used to the table and bathe on it, start by moving the table in different places arround the house. Once they seem comfortable nomatter where you put the table, move it beside the bathroom. then infront, then inside. My point is, is to take tiny steps into something new and show them it is a friendly activity. It will also help you bond even further and helps them to get used to the house even more.

Take a shot at this new bathing idea. It might take a month or two but in the end, you will have fearless birdies!

Hi Ginie and Jojo.Milo and Lea here with some tips

Straw swing;
Take two bendable sipping straws and bend each as a half of a triangle. insert the two bottom parts into eachother an tape the top part. Leave a tape tab at the top to puncture a hole into. The hole must be big enough to hold string or any other substance through it.
Now you have a cheap swing that can easily replaced.
you can also put stickers or stamps on the swing for them to play with.

Chew time mobile:
Cut out any size circle out of cardboard and puncture a hole in the middle and as many holes as you want arround it. Add string or any substance through the holes and tape the ends on top.(Make sure that you leave the center hole without string untill the end).
Now that there are strings hanging from your mobile, add things like Cherrios or parrot friendly nuts seeds or cakes hanging from the strings. Now add another string in the middle making sure that the long part is facing opposite of the rest. this is what you use to attach the toy to the top of the cage.(please provide a perch for them to use while in use. It is only fair to them).

Those are the toys that I think would best suite your feathered friends.
Now on to how to provide a fun bath.

I would first start encouraging bathing behaviour in a clean bathroom. Provide a reasonable sized dish and fill it with the most apropreate amound of water based on the bird's size. Place it on the bathroom dresser where youre sink is. Make sure it is in a place where it wont be bumped yet can be seen by your two friends. For starters, I would recommend putting a medium sized mirror next to it to entice them more. Close all the toilets and clean the sink in case a bird decided to fall in. Turn the light on and shut the door. bring your friends into the bathing area and show them that there is water in the dish by making ripples with your finger.(MAKE SURE THE WATER IS NOT TOO HOT OR COLD IT MIGHT KILL YOUR BIRD!). Now leave the room(make sure it is parrot safe) and read a book or something you can do that is near the room. Make sure to check on them once in a while to check thier progress. If you see little wet bodies, you have success! If not, take them out of the bathroom and reward them for trying.
Then repeat the process over again untill you have sucess. Also be sure not to leave them too long in the room too long.

Thanks for your time and have fun with these things!

  Hi Ginie, HI Jojo~
Thanks for stopping by! How is everything with you?
I looked to see where Burnaby is and you guys are north of me. I live about 35 miles south-east of Seattle and you guys are just outside of Vancouver. I have a friend named Joey who lives in Nelson.
Do you like it up there? I use to live in California so it took a while to get use to the weather up here, but I'm very happy and like it here very much!
Fly by anytime!
Leaving a vote and a hug for you both!

Come visit me, Sugar ~ Thanks for all the AWESOME Memories.

  Sexing Parakeets
Hi, When mature, male keets have a blue cere. That's the waxy part above their beaks where their nostrils are. Females will have pink, or brown. When they are young, the color changes, so you have to wait until they are 1 1/2 to 2 years old to tell. And sometimes females will have other colors, or change color with hormonal changes.

  Hi Ginie Hi Jojo
Nice to meet both of you!
Thank you for the compliments on my pictures. The ones with the costumes were done on a web site called It's totally free and lots of fun to play with. They have all kinds of "Stamps"and you can put them in your picutre. The story book ones on my page were done for my scrapbook. Mom and I kept trying to find more and more story books that we could make pictures of. It was so much fun!
Your pictures are really nice! I didn't like the camera for a long time but now I'll cooperate if I feel like it. Your colors are just beautiful!!
Please come by anytime!
