Well, his old owner moved and gave him to us this friday! it's a little intimidating because we know nothing about birds other than what his old owners told us.... Awards

  Welcome to BC!
If I may, you have a Black-Capped Lory, not a Rainbow. My parents had a Red Lory when I was very young, so I know a little, but not much. I would definately look online and do some research on your new bird. I've had to do that several times recently with the addition of my Meyer's parrot and Hahn's Macaw to my flock (I'm used to Conures and knew very little about the other two). Watch videos on youtube too! You'll learn quite a bit about their bahvior by studying other birds of his species. Good luck, beautiful bird!

  Hi Squirt
What a beautiful bird. If I can give some advice since this is your first bird go to a big book store or Petsmart and pick up a book on lorys. There are a number of foods that are toxic. That is what we did with our Hahns Macaw. Also they have sensitive respiratory systems. Keep away from any product like teflon, perfumes, sprays and cleaners with fragrances. Hope this helps you out. Take care. Left a vote for you.

Come visit me, Sweet Pea.
