In need of a place to stay until a new home could be found for me, I and my Blue & Gold brother were offered room and board among the McFlock. Having spent 15 years with my first family, this incredible change caused me great concern for my well-being and even more so for that of my brother. I put all my energies into protecting him, a behavior that made it appear that I was never going to be a happy bird again. Surprisingly though, the morning after I bid my blue & gold buddy good-bye, I morphed into this completely different bird, one that was cuddly, sweet, and magically irresistible. You must know where this is going....
The fact that RaneBeau liked my company worked in my favor as well.

Active within 1 Day Hi! My name is Reba o/t McFlock~ MAJOR LEAGUE BEAK 3rd Baser I am a Green-Winged Macaw from Larchland, IL. Reba~Baby (My former name was "Baby" so I hear both in this transition period.) 17 years old F Green-Winged Macaw Walnuts, most definitely. And in the shell's not an issue. RaneBeau's cage because it's the closest to the door of my room. It doesn't hurt to be the first bird mom encounters when she comes into the room. When out in the aviary, I have to sit on the middle hanging branches because I want to gnaw on the panels if I'm sitting on perches attached to the walls. (I know, shame on me.) My roving playstand is the one with the biggest branches; there has to be something substantial for me to chew on or I break the perch and end up on the floor. RaneBeau, thinking he can tell me I can't walk out the door of the bird room. I was supposed to be here for only a short while. I'm looking at forever now. What's not to love about that! Thank you, RaneBeau, for being willing to share Mom with another macaw. That willingness is perhaps the primary reason I've been invited to stay. Wishing "Ellis" all the best with his new family. I'll miss you always. My fetish with string and leather currently amuses my family. I love to unravel the ends. For some odd reason, I have to be the LAST to be taken in from the aviary. I keep side stepping away from an offered arm if there's anybirdie else yet in the parrot pen. Is it because I want to make sure everybirdie else is in safely first or is that I'm hoping by being the last one out there that I'll snag a little extra one-on-one time with mom? Hmmm. Good question.. "Foster": It sounds like forever to me..

Well, thank you for all your praise about my playing the other day! Was a real surprise for me being a gentlebird, an only fid for a decade now in this flock of 14 and playing birdie bazebol! Most of all thank you for your support in my BOTD honor! Wow! what a surprise that was after just joining this flock in January! And yes, I think we MLB should have a page\ but only if it's not too much trouble for your sweet mamma who does such wonderful work! You should see all our baseball portraits all over mom's lab at work! Talk about living vicariously through your fids! Hi my love,
I know that each time you come to visit me that usually means some baseball talk but at least you do get to come and visit a lot more often and that is a good thing.

Yep, I'll be at Chica's game tomorrow and for sure I will save you a seat or vice versa...I can feel some cuddling coming on...

Dad won't be leaving for Portland until around Wednesday of next week. Mom will be okay even though dad will be worried about her. She won't have much time to get into trouble cause by the time she gets us fed and changes the papers in our cages it will pretty much time to put us to bed again. lol
I am a big help to mom...hehe

No time out in the sunroom for me...it has been pretty ugly here...high winds, rain, and chilly...it looks like it is here to stay throughout the weekend.

Mom posted some pictures in Chloe's gallery of our house and garden if you want to see them.

I agree with you on the team page...it is a great place to post all of our photos, schedules, post our results etc...

Thanks for letting us know about Ruby's hatchday tomorrow.

You know, the hairy one. LOL Yes, I did have Mom read the entire blog and we are a team so of course, we have to work together. So my frother Floop is going to have fun against those little Dragons tomorrow. LOL We had a baseball practice of sorts here on Micky's hatchday. Ummm... we used strawberries and blueberries and it was wild but there were very few misses. The walls look like something from another planet and Mom was happy we stayed in the bird room. So long as mOm does not have anything tomorrow, we will be at the game. See you!

How are u sweetie? Mom only got a few blogs out yesterday, so she's sending the same blog with some new added to it! Mom got her cortisone injections in both of her shoulders yesterday, which she gets every 3 months. She usually gets some relief almost instantly, but her right shoulder actually feels worse today! Mom also went to her granddaughter's preschool graduation last evening! I had an exciting day today! It was mom's granddaughter Olivia's last day of preschool, & I got to go! Most of Livi's classmates came running up to mom at the graduation last night, very excited that I'm coming to their class today! Mom takes me to the preschool classes there every year, & I love seeing all the kids as much as they love seeing me! The only difficult part of any excursions, is mom getting me back into my carrier!

Mom is doing good today, but her nose is very sore! Mom has been giving me belly kisses for nearly 16 yrs, without incident! It's swollen on the right side & a bit bruised, even tho the damage was done on the inside! Because my nails & toes are so long, most of the damage was 2 inches down in the nasal cavity! The ER Doc said it was a good thing mom had previously had her adenoids removed, coz my nails would have destroyed the right one! Mom has to be rechecked in 2 weeks, or immediately if she starts bleeding again! She had to be cauterized in 4 different places & has to take an antibiotic! Mom said that the scariest part of having my toes stuck up her nose, was that she was very afraid my 2 toes would end up broken...mom was very relieved that my toes are absolutely fine! Mom refers to this incident as "NoseGate 2013"!
Mom doesn't want anyone to think that the ER Nurses & Docs were being discourteous, they were not! They were picturing a tiny pet bird, like a Budgie, not a large Macaw! Mom showed them a pic of me, they weren't expecting me to be so big! When mom said "Be glad I got her loose before I came in"! That's when they started laughing!

Hi Reba, my love,
I kind of like a home page of our own but whatever the team wants will be fine with me.

Our weekend was okay until dad went to the races and the bike broke. It was not a good sound. Dad was starting the bike up before the races started and it just quit. After awhile dad restarted it and it made a rattling sound...dad shut the motor off and loaded it back in the trailer. He is trying to find someone who can look at and repair it. Not to many people are qualified enough to work on it. He is hoping that a gentleman in Portland will do it for us, Burt is calling him again tomorrow to see if he will have time to do this. Dad will take the bike to him and it will be about a four - five hour drive...dad will stay overnight for sure and maybe longer depending on how long it will take to fix the bike. It would be cheaper and easier on dad if he stays and waits verses driving back and forth if it is only a few days.

I was out in the sun porch on Sunday for a while, sorry about your wind...what a sight that would be to see you plastered to the side of the aviary...lol

Friday was quite the day for you...but a good one. Not so much for your typist...

That kiss did tell me how lucky you feel and I hope mine did the same for you...

Yes, it was eggciting to win our first game. It sure was a tough battle out there on the field but the MLB team pulled it all together to make the win.
As for the MLB having their own page? Yes, it would be a nice idea. The Sluggers and Raiders have their own pages. Majority rules however, but I have my wings crossed they also like the idea of a special page just for us.

I'm confused Coach
Jasper here. How can things get hairy when we have feathers? Okay - mom has been coughing for the past few days because she seems to be allergic to the birds we have here that we are trying to find homes for - cockatoos... they create so much dust mOm is going nuts. She apologizes that at the end of the game we had people stop in and she could not get back to the computer. I never saw the last two innings. Mom had better read me what happened, especially if I helped the team. Now, I don't remember if we congratulated you on BOTD so I will say it now and since Mom was into some baking, here are some of her oatmeal fruit cookies. She baked them for Micky's hatchday - we are tired of cake, well hers anyways, and Lizzie makes a much better one. LOL I think it would be fun having our own page, but that is up to all the others on the team too. Majority wins? Mom always said I am her easy going bird - I guess she is right. you know you can count on me to play my very best at every game. I intend to practice too!

How are u sweetie? I didn't do my blogging yesterday, mom & I were involved in a bizarre, freak accident early yesterday afternoon! I was unscathed, but mom wasn't as lucky...she's fine now, but very sore!

When mom is holding me, I like her to kiss my belly! She kissed me on my birdie nose, then I told her KISS BAAALLY! At the same time she raised me up, I lifted my left leg, & somehow, my front 2 toes slipped into mom's right nostril & GOT STUCK! Of course I'm past due for a nail trim & my nails are extra long & very sharp! I was struggling to get my toes free & mom was howling in pain! Thinking it was a game, I quit struggling & started squealing! Mom gently grabbed my foot & turned her head & my toes came out!
My poor mom was gushing blood! She grabbed paper towels to try to control the bleeding, got me to step up onto her cane, squirted my foot, put me in my cage, & took off for the emergency room! To make matters worse, they couldn't help laughing when mom told them how the injury occurred! That was a story that they NEVER heard before! Mom spent 3 hrs at the emergency room & had to have her nostril cauterized! Mom is fine, but her nose is very sore! I don't think that I'll be getting belly kisses anytime soon!

it doesnt matter to me if our team has their own page or not. i think it is more appreciated if we practice on the stadium page to show our support and maybe our own team page would take away from that.

thankyou for the praise about my performance in the game on Friday. i was very proud to be able to do so well for my team. i didnt want to tell anyone about it for fear of being a braggart but i certainly was proud of my performance as well as my teams members performances in the game. everybirdy has such great team spirit it brings a tear to my eyes.

Hope all is going well at the McFlock home. How's my buddy RaneBeau doing? Did he give you a party?
Today was sunny and a warm 80 degrees … FINALLY! I had a wonderful day. We had lunch and dinner on the patio. I was able to go outside several times too. The next two days will be severe t-storms and the temps will go down to 62 degrees. Was that summer today?????

How are u sweetie? Nothing much happened here today, except mom stayed home all day! We had a beautiful day of 78! I spent a lot of time outside today, but didn't get to drive my car, coz I don't really like to be out in the direct sun! Mom swears that I can smell when rain is coming, coz when it got real cloudy & looked like it would rain, I started freaking out & wouldn't let her take me off the porch! I ran up her arm & scrambled onto her back & told her NOOOOO, I hold on to mom's shirt, pant, & gently flap my wings, while on her back...mom calls it my rain dance I wouldn't get off her back & onto her hand until she went back inside! Mom calls Mom told me it was not raining, but I wasn't taking her word about it! I DO NOT like OUTSIDE shower baths!

...I am so proud of our whole team, my only wish was that I wish I could have contributed more! My dad does not miss to many ball games, hopefully never again! My daddy's checkup went pretty well, but had to have his meds readjusted, his BP was to high making him dizzy when he stands up! He must go back in three weeks for a quick re-check of things! He was really bummed for having to miss the baseball game, and it looked like good one! Congrats to Screech for joining the 10K Club! Dad has a QCPS bird club meeting this afternoon and evening, poor Arthur is going to get a nails and beak job, and I am taking bets on how much blood will be spilled, LOL! Great game yesterday, you played really well. I like when the games are close ones. Our weekend is a mixed bag; mom is doing tours today and tomorrow, but it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. Today the dogs go to the groomer, but when mom drops them off, I think she is planning on taking us all outside! YAY!! It's so pretty here, with all the flowers in bloom. The irises have started to blossom, too. Tonight, mom and her family are celebrating Mother's Day. They always wait to do that, so they aren't in crowded restaurants and being hustled to eat fast. Tomorrow, tours are in the afternoon, so again, we might get outside. I think that's all for this weekend. Yes our weekends are always full of boxes
Today the couch goes to a friend. It's too big for the new living room. We really like using it as a target for our seed spitting contests (as Mom calls them even though they are pellets) but surely there will be other targets.
We will probably move June 10 ish. Mom will buy the house on the 7th and set up the kitchen over the weekend. She thinks a weekday move may be easier traffic wise but that's not yet final. We are getting really excited. Mom's got all of us but Sunny in a smaller flight cage but realized already the bigger cage is best. So that's they way it will be.
Maybe she will store the other one or give it to the bird shelter.
Everything else is going pretty well

Way to go, I am so happy for you my friend on your botd! I bet you were so excited too, and your mom really proud. So how have you been? Do you have plans for the weekend? Its been very warm here and today it was muggy. We are in a for severe thunderstorms this weekend with possible tornados starting tomorrow night into Sunday so that is kind of scary it sure is humid so perfect ingredients.
