 MOM HAS GOT KARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME SO SHE CAN'T POST AS MUCH AS SHE WOULD LIKE. Woof: I chose my human in a bird store by jumping on her. She had great hair for hair-surfing and still does. A month after I was settled in, I let my human know I wanted a pet so they got me Meow, a black-capped caique. He's a pretty cool little dude and we are mostly best buddies. Meow: I was kidnapped from my friends and brought here, but I like my kidnappers and decided to stay.. |

Hi Woof & Meow
How are u sweetie? Mom only got a few blogs out yesterday, so she's sending the same blog with some new added to it! Mom got her cortisone injections in both of her shoulders yesterday, which she gets every 3 months. She usually gets some relief almost instantly, but her right shoulder actually feels worse today! Mom also went to her granddaughter's preschool graduation last evening! I had an exciting day today! It was mom's granddaughter Olivia's last day of preschool, & I got to go! Most of Livi's classmates came running up to mom at the graduation last night, very excited that I'm coming to their class today! Mom takes me to the preschool classes there every year, & I love seeing all the kids as much as they love seeing me! The only difficult part of any excursions, is mom getting me back into my carrier!
Mom is doing good today, but her nose is very sore! Mom has been giving me belly kisses for nearly 16 yrs, without incident! It's swollen on the right side & a bit bruised, even tho the damage was done on the inside! Because my nails & toes are so long, most of the damage was 2 inches down in the nasal cavity! The ER Doc said it was a good thing mom had previously had her adenoids removed, coz my nails would have destroyed the right one! Mom has to be rechecked in 2 weeks, or immediately if she starts bleeding again! She had to be cauterized in 4 different places & has to take an antibiotic! Mom said that the scariest part of having my toes stuck up her nose, was that she was very afraid my 2 toes would end up broken...mom was very relieved that my toes are absolutely fine! Mom refers to this incident as "NoseGate 2013"!
Mom doesn't want anyone to think that the ER Nurses & Docs were being discourteous, they were not! They were picturing a tiny pet bird, like a Budgie, not a large Macaw! Mom showed them a pic of me, they weren't expecting me to be so big! When mom said "Be glad I got her loose before I came in"! That's when they started laughing!

Hi Woof & Meow
How are u sweetie? I didn't do my blogging yesterday, mom & I were involved in a bizarre, freak accident early yesterday afternoon! I was unscathed, but mom wasn't as lucky...she's fine now, but very sore!
When mom is holding me, I like her to kiss my belly! She kissed me on my birdie nose, then I told her KISS BAAALLY! At the same time she raised me up, I lifted my left leg, & somehow, my front 2 toes slipped into mom's right nostril & GOT STUCK! Of course I'm past due for a nail trim & my nails are extra long & very sharp! I was struggling to get my toes free & mom was howling in pain! Thinking it was a game, I quit struggling & started squealing! Mom gently grabbed my foot & turned her head & my toes came out!
My poor mom was gushing blood! She grabbed paper towels to try to control the bleeding, got me to step up onto her cane, squirted my foot, put me in my cage, & took off for the emergency room! To make matters worse, they couldn't help laughing when mom told them how the injury occurred! That was a story that they NEVER heard before! Mom spent 3 hrs at the emergency room & had to have her nostril cauterized! Mom is fine, but her nose is very sore! I don't think that I'll be getting belly kisses anytime soon!

Hi Woof & Meow
How are u sweetie? Nothing much happened here today, except mom stayed home all day! We had a beautiful day of 78! I spent a lot of time outside today, but didn't get to drive my car, coz I don't really like to be out in the direct sun! Mom swears that I can smell when rain is coming, coz when it got real cloudy & looked like it would rain, I started freaking out & wouldn't let her take me off the porch! I ran up her arm & scrambled onto her back & told her NOOOOO, I hold on to mom's shirt, pant, & gently flap my wings, while on her back...mom calls it my rain dance I wouldn't get off her back & onto her hand until she went back inside! Mom calls Mom told me it was not raining, but I wasn't taking her word about it! I DO NOT like OUTSIDE shower baths!

Hi Woof & Meow
How are u sweetie? Mom must REALLY be guilt-ridden! She's still falling all over herself to take care of my every desire! She held me & played with me until she had to leave for her Drs appt, then got me out of my cage as soon as she returned! Tho, mom was very weepy when she got back. The vet's office had called her, her precious Chloe's ashes were back, mom stopped there to pick her up. Chloe's urn is a beautiful decorator jar. Now mom has her precious Chloe back home forever!
I knew exactly how I would cheer my mom up! First, I gave her some big beakie kisses, told her LOVE U, then proceeded to tell her all about my game! MOM, WE WON OUR 1ST GAME! IT WAS REALLY CLOSE THO! THE GREYS PLAYED THEIR HEARTS OUT, & THEY ARE GOOD FRIENDS, SO AS HAPPY AS I WAS FOR US, I WAS SAD FOR THEM! Mom smiled & gave me a cuddle & some kisses, & said she was very proud of me! Not for winning, but for being a good sport & thinking of my friends' feelings!
The school across the street was having their annual carnival, so mom took me over so I could gawk at all the kids & say HI! I was a regular birdie ambassador! I was on my best behavior! I kept saying HI, did my tricks, let a bunch of kids pet me & gave out a couple kisses to a couple brave souls, but mostly to mom! Mom bought a couple pieces of pizza, so I lost interest in the crowd of people & focused on the food! Mom stuck me on her shoulder so she could carry our pizza, coz mom needs her cane to walk! I was sooooo focused on the food that I was begging on the way back to our house! I'm not sure about u little guys, but when we macaws beg, we drop our heads, flatten our bodies & "gently" flap our wings! The entire walk back, I kept saying MMMMMM in her ear, & each flap I bopped her on the same ear! When we got back into our house, she couldn't hear out of her left ear for a little while! Hehehe, but I had a great time! YES, it's another great day to be me! & yes, the pizza was delicious!

Before bedtime Tuesday night, mom hung in my cage, the last one of Uncle Chuck's world-famous toys! The one that had my name spelled out...TIAMARIA! Mom is going to post a pic of what's left of my toy in my gallery! I worked it over good! So at least I had something fun to do during my unscheduled confinement period! Thanks again sweet Uncle Chuck, my toys were awesome & I thoroughly enjoyed them!
I am thoroughly enjoying mom's guilt trip! She can't do enough for me today! She's waiting on me beak & foot...even more than usual & doing & playing everything that I want to do! She even said I was having sketties & mandarin oranges for dinner! The few hours of solitary confinement was definitely worth it...considering the VIP treatment I'm receiving today! Plus, SHE hasn't left MY side all day! It was an EXCELLENT day to be me! Can't wait til the NEXT time mom screws up! Hehehe!

How are u sweetie? Mom is in the doghouse today because of a SERIOUS infraction! Mom had a sleepover at sissy's house last night, coz she watched her granddaughter coz sissy had to take mom's youngest grandson to Children's Hospital for an appt...poor little guy, he is 6 years old & has Celiac's Disease! Mom was going to bring Livi home with her to uncover me, but sis called & said she was almost home, to just wait then she would take Livi to preschool & mom could head home. WELLLL, she threw a fit coz she wanted her Grammy to take her to school! Of course mom caved & took her to school, but now mom didn't have time to run home to uncover me & make it back to sissy's to go & watch oldest grandson's 3rd grade program. WELLLLL, mom didn't get home til 2:30pm! Mom was upset & was afraid that I'd be very angry with her! As soon as she uncovered me, I said HI MOM, immediately gave her kisses, then looked her in the eye & called her a SILLY BIRD! I LOVE guilt trips! Parronts are such suckers when it comes to guilt trips! Hehehe! I will be firmly planted on mom's arm til I DECIDE I want to go to bed! I won't let her out of my sight tomorrow either...THEN maybe I'll let her off the hook! It's actually a lot of fun watching her type with one hand & me on the other, trying in eat the phone as she's typing! Hehehe...I LOVE paybacks!
It is VERY humid during spring & summer here in PA! The higher the temps, the more severe & violent the thunderstorms! When I first came to live with mom 16 yrs ago, I was frightened & apprehensive of many things...especially thunder! If there was loud thunder during the night, I would scream, fall out of my bed (I sleep in a large
acrylic ring) & flap around wildly, often breaking feathers! Mom started making up games for things that I was afraid of! Since I was sooooo afraid of thunder, she would make wild arm gestures, laugh, squeal, & say BOOM! In no time at all, I began to look forward to things that had previously terrified me! So now when it thunders, I laugh, squeal & say BOOM...& the louder the thunder, the more fun I have!

To our BC family, I sincerely thank u for all the sympathy & condolences we received at this difficult time. It really touched our hearts. Chloe was a cherished family member. She was a Pitt-wire haired terrier mix with a gentle heart & soul. She fiercely loved mom & the 3 grandkids, & would have given her life for them. My sweet Chloe, I will always love u & forever miss u. RIP my sweet Angel. Chloe: 5/6/04 - 5/6/13.

To all my dear friends, I won't be on the BC the next few days, other than to give Luigi his BOTM vote. Mom's heart is very heavy with grief. Our dog Chloe crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning around 10am. Chloe was a wonderful dog & she & mom loved each other very much. She will be greatly missed. Chloe was diagnosed with lung cancer a month ago. Today, May 6th, was her 9th birthday.

How are u sweetie? Not much happening here today! Mom was busy doing things so I thought I'd follow her around & help her! My plan worked beautifully...she scooped me up & took me outside to drive my car! It looks like I'll get to go outside everyday this week! The weather guessers are calling for thunderstorms Saturday, but it's looking pretty good until then! I love to take a shower, but for some reason I freak out when I get rained on!

Hi Woof & Meow
How are u sweetie? Another beautiful warm sunny day here! I got to drive my car this morning, hopefully once more after dinner! A few of my friends misunderstood my beak story! Mom did not hurt me at all, it was normal peeling of my beak! I can't stand having loose beak pieces! I rub on my cage, furniture, my mom...but I can never seem to get them off of me! So mom helps me out by peeling them off! I sit on top of her cane & let her peel away, then I do my part by shredding the beak pieces! But yesterday, it came off in one huge piece, from the tip of my top beak almost to my feathers, & both sides...it looked like a complete upper beak! Mom was going to keep it, but I grabbed it & tossed it across the room, before mom could grab it, one of our dogs got there first! In 16 years, mom has never pulled off such a large intact piece, & it didn't hurt at all! Mom said it feels about the same as a human getting their fingernails trimmed, & our birdie beakies are made of keratin, same as human fingernails! So rest assured, it didn't hurt me one bit, just scared the birdie crap out of me when I thought mom was holding my entire beak in her hand! I hope ur day has been wonderful! Oh, I had mini blueberry muffins for breakfast, & for dinner mom made me Teriyaki vegetable stir fry, romaine lettuce salad, whole wheat bread & for dessert, my favorite...mandarin oranges!

How are u sweetie! Another beautiful day of 72 degrees! It will be in the low 70s for the next week! I got to drive my car twice today & mom took me to the school across the street to say hi to the kids waiting to be picked up! I told them hi & barked at them, played peekaboo, danced, & showed them how I play dead! Mom owed me some fun & excitement, coz she scared the crap out of me! Because of my nasty hormonal biting this year, mom always tells me she's going to pull my beak off! My beak has been pealing lately. Mom got a hold of a piece by the tip & pulled. She was holding in her hand a piece that was almost 1/2 inch wide & 2 inches long! I let out a loud squawk & started flapping! I touched my tongue to my beak tip. WHEWWWW! I thought she pulled my beak off! I think I'll take her a little more seriously from now on! Penne pasta sketties, a hunk of broccoli stalk, whole wheat bread & Granny Smith Apples for dinner! I had apple & cranberry oatmeal for breakfast, YUM!

So great hearing from u sweeties! Sorry it took me so long to get back to u! Mom had cluster migraines that lasted for 5 days! We did our BOTM vote & that's about it! She's starting to feel somewhat human again, so we'll be back to cranking out our blogs daily again! Tomorrow will be a longer blog!

How are u sweeties? It's a pleasure to meet u! I LOVE ur names, so I just had to come & visit! We have dogs & cats, so I usually bark & meow more than they do, hehehe! I'm Tia, a 17 yr old Military Macaw from Greensburg, PA, right outside of Pittsburgh. I see that u love nuts! I love pistachios & pecans, but pistachios are my absolute favorite! I eat about 1/2 lb of them a week, plus everything mom cooks for me & lots of fruits & veggies! I'm a bit spoiled, I insist that mom hand feed me all of my meals, hehehe! That way, I don't get my toesies all messy! U have a great day sweetie & I look forward to being friends!

ERIN GO BRAGH!!!
Yes, we know that St Patty's day has passed, but it is still March and we're still celebrating!
Date: Saturday, March 23rd

Place: Milonga Page #165848
The Milonga Ball Room has been turned into a real Irish Pub with everything from shamrocks to green beer. There will be corned beef and cabbage with Irish soda bread to whet your appetite as well, plus you know Lizzie will not be able to keep the feast to such simple fare. All sorts of green treats and such will be served.
Sam and the Scruffy Birds band will play at least one or two Irish tunes for us to jig to, and plenty of good old favorites to dance the night away. Chyna and Sam will sing and dance for your audio and visual entertainment, and you know that is always a treat.
TPB&G will have the bar set up with Guiness and Stout and every kind of Irish whiskey you can think of. From Bailey's to Irish Coffee there is no Irish drink that they won't fix. And for the younger crowd the green limeade and kool aid will go down smooth and gentle.
And of course the awards for the Milonga Irish Profile Pic contest will be given out. This time it has been a "Blind Contest" with everybirdy just voting for the best pics rather than their best friends. We shall see how that turns out. I know one little birdie is definitely going to win favorite pic. She is blowing out the competition. And I know everybirdy will be pleased to see her win. There will be other awards to be won as well though.
So one and all get your green back out (although some of us wear it all year round) and deck out for the best Irish party you ever saw. It is gonna be a toot!

Hey Boys! Funny you should comment on my sign on the cage. Apparently it DOES have one side with 'Good', and the other with 'Bad'. Which I didn't know, since it always reads 'Good' from MY side. It wasn't until I saw the pic that I knew my human was making a statement. How dare she? I think I'm insulted! So you had a tornado by you? I though they were always hurricanes in Florida, didn't know that they had tornados, too. Geez, you can't win, huh? Hey guys! How's FL treating you? Boy you missed a hell of a year in NY. Between that storm then Sandy, omg you were lucky to not be here. We got 2 snow storms this week, too. It's not looking good for a mild winter is all we can say. We are doing good. We have taken in our cousin, Sonny C, a budgie. His family was caring for mom's sick brother as he recovered from a bone marrow transplant and couldn't be around birds. That was a year ago and he never went home. He is happy here with us, but we are a little less happy then he is. Not much has changed here. Mom and dad are doing fine. We are good, too, although at our last vet check up she told us that Peeps was deficient in vitamin a. Mom's tried all sorts of ways to get it to her, but the bottom line is that she is a bad eater. She picks out what she wants unlike me, who eats all things from peas and green beans, carrots, limas, sweet potatoes and everything else. Oh well, we are tring to help her. Mom has read up on the dangers of being deficient in vit a and she's not happy. So we sure hope to hear from you. And a very Happy New Year to you all. Enjoy that sun on your backs. Hey Boys! My human is fighting a bad cold. She hasn't had one of those in years. If she sneezes on my laptop once more I'm gonna take it away from her! She's been thinking of buying herself a Kindle for Christmas, but she's been reading some of the customer reviews and they're having a few issues. Hey Boys! That's a great idea with the plastic bottle handle for a step-up stick. The Grandmom could have used that when she tried to get me back into my cage. The human left before dawn Saturday, and by the time the Grandmom uncovered my cage, I had somehow gotten out through an open foodbowl door and had walked all the way to the master bathroom (probably looking for my human). The cats went right along with me, but amazingly we were all uninjured. The Grandmom, however, almost got injured...heehee... Hope you have a great holiday!
