Cuddles was very abused and was homeless. We saw him at the shelter, fell in love, and brought him home.. |

Hi Cuddles So what is a bird that you got that you like? That is great your feathers are coming in and looking great again too. I like to chew my green coloring off the feathers and just let the grey but mom says its probably a bad habit I picked up when I had the crop infection and hard to break now though in the summer my feathers start looking alot better then.Today mom went to get some groceries and dad said I was a bit loud. I was just complaining because mom left but dad said I was hollering so loud a person could hear me outside! I was just hollering so mom would come home but dad said it doesn’t work that way. “Always make new friends, but keep the old. The new ones are silver and the old ones are gold.” V4U From your old friend, GusCome visit me, Gus & Chi chi ..

Hi Cuddles Yes I have owned Gus since he was 2 weeks old and when he got a bout a year old he got a crop bacterial infection and started plucking then and still does occassionally though I have him on a whole new diet. He does this mostly in the winter and its right in his crop area. I cook steel cut oatmeal and mix this with all natural no sugar added applesauce, Then I cook brown rice and beans and put mixed veggies and some boiled egg in that for around noon. Then I cut up mango, pomegrante, bannanas, grapes and give him that around 2 in the afternoon taking the oatmeal out then. Gus always has eclectus sceince volkmans food in his cage too. Dont feed your eclectus anything that is fortified, enriched or sulphur dioxide in it. These are really bad for an ekkie. If you have trouble there is a lady in the birdtalk book that raises eclectus and she has helped me alot. It is called www.prettyparrot.com and her nanme is Jane. I order a bee vitamin from her and she also has a pellet that I did have Gus on before the volkmans but think the volkmans is better. I also order a lactropriv/b from prettyparrot that I give Gus 4 times a year for a month. Jane is alot of help but if there is anything I can help you with please dont hesitate to ask me. I will try to help you or send you in the right direction if I can. Also if you can buy kale or spinach and put that in the rice/bean mix that helps also and so does celery too. I buy the kale in a bunch and stick the whole thing in the freezer and use what I need as it comes apart very easy. I wont be on the computer for a few days here but if you write and I can get on the computer I will help you in anyway I can. I know its frustrating with the ekkies the way they toe tap and pick and wing flip too but giving a good diet helps alot and can keep it under control. I see you feed Cuddles walnuts and I know when Gus eats nuts he picks more too so maybe stay off them awhile and see if that helps. Gus treat consists of the stripped sun flower seeds and he doesnt get many of them either. They are in the volkmans food and so are almonds and the few in there I feel is more then enough for him. Again I hoope this helps you and sorry I wont be on here a few days but after that I should be again then. Hope I helped you in anyway.....your friend, Gus and momCome visit me, Gus & Chi chi ..
