Since I only had a bonded bonded pair of budgies, I wanted a bigger bird that would bond with me and be my friend. My parents told me I could get a bigger bird when I turned 13 (I was 10 at the time), but after begging, they told me I could get a conure and they would pay for half of her as my Christmas present. So I started searching on craigslist and petfinder. After a while, I found an ad for a pineapple green cheek conure. I remembered playing with one of those at the pet store, and how sweet he was. So I had my mom email the lady. After chatting for a while and trying to talk down the price, my parents said we could get her as long as she looked healthy when they went to pick her up. A few days later, they went to pick her up and she was healthy. I fell in love with her when I saw her. Now we are best friends!

Hello Peatree~
I hope you are enjoying your day!
Mom has been cleaning the oven this morning so we haven't started any cooking yet. She sorta burned a pizza last night and had to get it all cleaned up! It was very sad to see that lovely cheese pizza burned but the other, larger pizza made it so I still got some crust. Mom didn't know if you put one on the bottom shelf of the oven, that the paper pan they come on would burn! It was really stinky and I had to be quickly removed from the room but I made it back out there in time for some pizza crust! I suppose that is the most important part!
Today is the 5th anniversary of me, Mandy, George and Gracie coming to live with mom!! It' a special day for all of us!! We are so very happy here and mom says she can't imagine what life was like before we all showed up! I'm hoping for a cranberry ornage scone to celebrate! I got the corn bread already but a scone would be just lovely!!

Spotlight on Caring -Taz part 7
Sky here with our last blogs with the Proctor flock. I must say I have dearly enjoyed learning all about this well known B.C. flock. SKY; Please continue, Mom Gail; SUZIQ was the next member of the flock. She came from the same bird store as Scooby. We used to visit there fairly often and buy food there as well. Suzi was a sweet bird and used to live with the owner's wife but then after nine months she decided that she did want to sell her so Burt bought her for me to try and ease the pain of losing Xena, I was not ready for a grey and didn’t know if I ever would be. Suzi still is a beautiful and sweet girl who loves her me and only me. Suzi does like to lay eggs a lot. I have had her checked out to make sure her calcium levels were okay and they were, I also make sure that she gets enough calcium in her diet. Ekkies are also very sensitive with regards to their diets. They don't do well with a lot of additives in their food or with pellets; they need a nice fresh food diet. They also have a tendency to toe tapping and wing flapping usually due to an excess of additives in their diet or stress can also be the cause. Suzi did start to toe tap and wing flap years ago and I had to play detective to try and figure out what was causing this as she was not on any pellets or other type of bird food and there didn't seem to be any cause for stress either. After a lot of research I decided my only recourse was to do an elimination diet for her. I took away all food except peas to start with until she quit and if she didn't start up again after a few days I added another vegetable which was carrots...all well there but when I added corn well Suzi started up again, mom took it away and after three days she quit again. The only food to cause an issue was corn so no more corn for her ever. If she gets a little bit of corn cause she gets the wrong bowl the toe tapping and wing flapping come right back. No corn and all is well.
CHLOE is next to join, I was still missing having a grey around the house so Burt looked through the papers and found Chloe in a neighboring state. I talked to Chloe's mom through e-mails and we met them to pick her up and take her home. Chloe has been and is a joy to have around; she decided that she liked her dad best even though she was a Mother's Day present for mom. She is a good talker and has lots of sounds, some that she makes up. She loves to sing.
SIMON came to join us the following year. I always wanted a B&G macaw and so back to the papers for Burt. He spotted Simon in a neighboring state as well. We took the drive to see him. Spotlight on Caring Taz part 7b
As soon as Simon saw us he let out a really loud and friendly Hi, and as soon as we walked in we knew he was coming home with us no matter what. He has been a challenge for sure and I got bitten quite a few times in the beginning. He does not like men at all, in the 12 years he has been here that has not changed. He is a momma's boy and he has anger issues but I have figured him out pretty good now so I rarely get bitten unless I cause it by not paying attention. He is a very sweet bird in his own right. He loves being held and loved; I call him my cockatoo in a blue suit. My heart melts when he looks up at me and says "I love you", just like a guy. CHICA flew into our lives when her previous owner decided that he couldn't care for her anymore so he gave her to me. When Chica first came to live her she didn't like to be touched very much. She used to eat absolutely everything in sight until her bowl was empty. She gained quite a few grams now she is starting to enjoy being preened and held. It has taken time and patience so it is so nice to see her enjoying herself. She has learned a lot of new words from Simon and she has the most infectious laugh that it is impossible not to laugh with her.
PEARL was a beautiful little cockatiel. Burt saw her in a pet store, he really needs to stay away from those places, and brought her home. This was shortly after Tweety passed away. She was a sweetie and was sitting on Burt’s shoulder a few days after getting here and laid two eggs, she never laid anymore after that. She was with us for a few years and then got sick, we tried hard to save her but eventually she just couldn't stay with us anymore. It seemed as if she had turned the corner and was doing better but the next morning she was gone. She is buried in our back yard in the flowers. Miss you little girl. NAPOLEON joined us next. In case you didn't guess by now, I love greys. A lady in the bird club wanted to find a home for him and while at the meeting Napoleon and I were bonding so Burt talked to the lady and Napoleon was mine. They brought him over with his cage that evening. Napoleon is a wonderful companion and a wonderful bird. Napoleon is a sweet and loving bird who loves to give me kisses. He is constantly learning new words but won’t talk in front of Burt, when Burt leaves the room he starts talking or if he is with mom he talks…of course he doesn't like Burt or men for that matter. I am now complete...I have my grey...

HI Peatree,
new pics are up. The first 3 are of the mama pig with her 2 piglets, then comes the mushroom with smurf & smurfette. A new kokkaburra, a new cockatiel, a citron-crested white cockatoo & a baby seal.
Mum's got good news. She's going to the market on June 1st. It was supposed to start on July 6th, but the lady had a cancellation yesterday & asked mum if she wants the spot. Mum wasn't so sure at first, b/c her friend Sandi can't come this time, but she told mum to go anyway.
That means she'll be very busy next week to get everything ready for it. She sure has a lot of stock now. Must be over 200 pals!!! Our weather is getting cooler now, but mum still swims & when she came home today, she said the water was really really warm again, wow & that at nearly winter time.
Dad's home on a holiday & i'm loving it to have both my parronts here with me. I fly from one to the other, but mainly sit with dad, after all, i have to make the most of him being on a holiday.
The disasters in your country seem never ending this year! Feel so sorry for the people who are affected.

It's making it hard on mom to blog for me but I know she can rise to the challenge! She keeps putting me back on her knee and I say "hello Sugar!"
Not much else going on today. It's just fine with me since I'm having a really fun time climbing all over the puter and all over mom!

Hello Peatree~
I hope you are having a wonderful day. I've got the gardeners here to watch. They are outside my window mowing the lawns! Pretty soon Mandy will be woofing to go out just because she likes to smell the fresh cut grass! Mom takes her for a walk everyday and Mandy has decided she likes to walk down to the Starbucks. Do you suppose it's the scones they sell? I always share my scones with her so maybe she figured she just go down there and get us some! I like the way she thinks!!
Mom already went to the market before I even got up! The store is open 24 hours a day. It's less crowded early in the mornings but mom has to put up with freight on the floor and the floor scrubber being used. Since she works nights at a store, she is use to that stuff.
She got me some pecans so I'm looking forward to my snack! I'll be having apples and pecans today! Yum!
I'll be supervising the chores later on and letting mom know how she should do stuff! We all know our parronts would be lost without us!!

HI Peatree,
here i am again at long last! Mum just posted new pics.
She made a cute new doggie, a blue headed pionus, a hyacinth macaw, a golden conure, even an octopus & an Indian ring neck. She's also made a new female ekkie & believe it or not, a pink pig with some piglets & a baby seal, but no pictures of them yet.
Our nice warm weather has finally come to an end. It is down right cold now, with a very stiff breeze blowing, but the water is still surprisingly warm (she just had a swim) but she says when you come out, you better hurry into the hot shower. Hope you'll have a nice w/e.

Our First Game is Thursday 5/16 @ 3 pm
Crackerjack Conures!!!!!
Listen up! Our first game will be Thursday against the Wonder Wings team! It should be a great game and we're playing against my frother Scion! hehehe! The first pitch goes at 3 pm EST. If you can't be there during the game, try to fly over to the stadium either earlier or later to see what is going on there. This year participation is everything and it will be checked by the officials! I sent out the season calendar with all our games on it yesterday in an email. Let me know if you didn't receive it!
I have two chores for the team!
1. Please blog me your hatch day - so we can be sure to give your the hatch day wishes from the team on your special day.
2. Please fly around and say hi to each CJC team member. We do have some new team members this year and we need to make them welcome! The team roster is on my profile page with everybirds' page number.

I got a favorite new treat mom bought some teddy grams snacks for them the other day but theses are Apple flavor mom gave us each one and boy they sure are yummy I got 2 more then mom said I could have more later.
I'm back finally. Mom been sooooooooooo busy here that she could not get Me on here to Blog my friends. So since its the weekend WADDLES and LUCY made sure THEY woke her up at 6:30 so we have plenty of time to blog, don't think she happy about THEM being a alarm click this morning. But who would not want to wake up hearing WADDLES and LUCY say hey we're you at come in hurry good morning. GEEZE. She getting ready to make us breakfast I think I will order French toast or maybe I can get here to go to McDonalds for a breakfast burrito, or Buger king for sausage egg muffin hmmmm they all sound good. Our weather here been good its been in the 70's all week with little rain in the morning. the weather person saying by Tuesday it's to be 90' degrees wooo hoo. HAPPY MOTHER DAY TO YOUR MOM .. Hi Peatree
Spotlight on Caring-Taz part 6
Hello from SKY. Welcome to part 6 of my interview with Taz and his Mom Gail Sky; Please tell us about Xena and the other birds that make up your flockily. Mom Gail; XENA was the love of my life. She was my soul mate and when she died a part of me died with her, she left a hole in my heart. Don't get me wrong, I love all of my babies very much. Xena was only 18 months old when she died; we got her from the same lady where we got Taz. This can be a very long story so I'll make it short. Xena broke one of her legs but it was just a hairline fracture so she had to live in her aquarium for four months while it healed. She did amazing while living there. We used to live in a townhouse with three levels at that time and we used to go to the bottom level to relax at night and watch TV. Some of the birdies used to live on the second level and some on the bottom level so the birdies that lived on the second level all came down stairs so we were all together. Burt used to pick up Xena's aquarium and bring it down so she could be with the rest of the flock. This hairline fracture healed and Xena was back in her cage and all was going well until she broke the other leg but this was worse and required surgery to put a pin in it, back in the aquarium she went for another four months. She was so good; never once in either instance did she cry from pain or ever try to bite me. I had to give her antibiotics so I used to pulverize the pill and add it to some cantaloupe juice and Xena would happily eat it all up...she loved cantaloupe. After the four months were up, she went back to the vet, he x-rayed her and decided the pin needed to come out as it was starting to cause issues with her walking. I was in the room with her during her recovery time and she never woke up from the surgery! The vet did everything he could to try and resuscitate her but nothing worked. I cried out in such pain and fell to the floor when she didn't come to. I was devastated and I mean devastated beyond belief. They gave Xena's body to me wrapped in a towel and I sat on the floor literary wailing until they came gave me a room to sit in. I sat there and cried and wailed until Burt came to pick me up, they called him as I couldn't drive myself home. It took me a couple of years before she could even think about her without breaking down. I couldn't sleep or eat and lost 40 pounds during the first few months; I told you she took a piece of my heart. Burt didn't know what to do or how to console me as I was inconsolable. Thank goodness that I had my husband and all my babies here to help me though it. I never thought in a million years that I could ever love a little bird so very much.
Sky; next week we shall conclude our interview with Taz and Mom GAil. I trust all have enjoyed this series as much as I have in preparing it.

Hi Peatree!
That looks like a good hiding place but you know I can see your tailfeathers! hehehe! Yesterday the baby lovebird in the aviary fell or was ejected from it's nest and the adults picked on it so it's head and back were bleeding. Mom rescued him? and now he's living the life of luxury here in the house with us and being hand fed. He seems to be enjoying it too. We think he's about 2 months old. He can stay as long as he behaves himself, I say!
Tomorrow mom gets a baby dove that fell from a tree in the city. That one will be handfed also. So mom has barely time for blogging until dad gets back from the US and is here to help with us and the rabbits! We all want a piece of her!

ANNUAL MILONGA DERBY
Yes, my fellow race lovers, it is that time again. The annual Milonga Derby is coming up this weekend.
Date: Saturday, May 11th
Time: 8PM EDT; 7PM CDT; 6PM MDT; 5PM PDT; 2PM ADT

The big race is coming up, and I know you are all eggcited to see who will win this year. We have a whole new stable of horsies and some new jockeys and some returning ones. So make sure to place your bets with our paramutuel clerk, RaneBeau, and get ready for some real thrills as Chyna calls the race again this year.
After the race is over, we will announce the winners of the Annual Hat Contest with 3rd, 2nd and 1st place winners in the mens, ladies and couples categories. We can tell you it is too close to call in each category at this point, so be sure to show up to see who pulls off the awards.
And you know Lizzie will be presenting her usual race day fare and the TPB&G will be mixing up mint juleps by the bucketful. For our younger birdies there is lemonade and all sorts of sodas, so we have something for everybirdy.
And finally we will finish the evening listening and dancing to the musical offerings of Sam and the Scruffy Birds Band. As usual Sam has a repertoire picked out just for this event, so I know we will all have a wonderful time.

I hope you are enjoying your day!! I'm hanging out on the puter chair telling mom what she should type out for me!! I'm also taking a bit of time to fluff my feathers too! I'm multi-tasking!hahahahahahaha
We tied with Phoenix yesterday as the warmest cities in the US! COOL! That is a first!! I can also just about
guarantee it will be the only time that happens! Usually our weather records tend to be for the wetest place in the US! Today it is back to what May usually looks like up here! We are back to flannel shirt weather!

Today the weather is cool, its in the 70's. after blogging mommy will stay home doing household shores. next Wednesday may 15 will be my hatchday, I will turn 10 yrs old. Please if you can visit my page that day to congratulate me. Thank you.

Sounds like taking turns with Jester is a good idea. Our mom doesn't know how parronts keep up with multiple pages and birds. She's glad we're on a shared page and that way we don't compete. We know your mom will keep you safe from Jester and never leave you alone with him even for a second.

I'm so happy that everything is working out. It doesn't take long to get into a routine.
We had another beautiful sunny and warm day here, our 4th in a row. It’s about time that the “tip of the mitt” finally has good weather. Today I went for a stroller ride and really enjoyed it. Don’t forget the 3rd Milonga Derby is this Saturday (May 11) and baseball starts the following Monday. It’s eggciting here on the BC.

That is a cute picture and you sure are hiding good too! Glad you and Jester got to meet each other and yes need the mommy supervision there that is for sure. Mom still supervises Gus and I when we are out at the same time. Gus is a big boy and though I am little I wont back down either. I heard mom telling dad today that she hopes the days slow down a bit here. This past weekend was a whirlwind and the one grand was here to stay that comes once a month too. Yesterday mom and dad and the grand went to visit a bit with moms sister and her husband but didn’t stay real long. I think that's really awesome that your sweet Mom is sharing time with you and Jester and it's good that she's not letting you get too close to each other! You are just too little and Jester is just sooo big! My Mom is having her hands full with the three of us looking for her attention all at once! I love to go after my baby fister Candi and beat her up,so Mom has to be careful when I'm out of the cage and she has to keep Candi's door locked so that I can't open the door and get her! So when my Mom gets us to snuggle with her at night while she watches tv,Candi is on one side under Dixies blanket and Dixie is on the other side in the blanket!
My Mom is sooo happy that the card for Weasley put a smile on your sweet Mom's face!My Mom and all of us couldn't bear to see your sweet Mom so upset!

DAY 6 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
FATHER’S PAST part 1
As a child, father had a rich grandfather who was the founder of the town maghara. He was a respectable man and always gave money to the poor. Father was the youngest one in the family, but was raised by his siblings as they taught him schoolwork. His family owned a sulfur crested cookatoo who would make such loud funny sounds everyday. But they had to sell him since they didnt have enough time to devote to him anymore. Father loved his grandfather very much and as a child, he played with him and his grandfather taught him the right and wrongs in both religion and school. His grandfather died at 120 or so and father was 9 when he passed away. The funeral was very sorrow and sad, the whole town gathered to honer his memory. The civil war began when father was around his teen years, when he was 17 years, he and his mother were in a car driving to go home but always were stopped by the terrorists for identification, they’re were numerous tanks surrounding the area. If you didn’t have an identification, they would bring you in for questioning and assume your one of the enemy who is defending against them and torture you in jail. It was frightful, and RPG’s were being fired off near where they were. Soldiers were running and taking cover, throwing grenades and shooting with their AK-47. You would see a town destroyed and attacked by the terrorists with children and mothers lying dead in houses outside with blood everywhere, families would come crying to see their loved ones dead. Markets would be taken over by the terrorist and so when you buy food the money would go to them for getting more firearms and tanks. Families starved and had to take refuge in a safe place were food was being shared secretly. Father was farther away from the carnage but when he was 26, he had to get a job in Canada since his grandfather passed away and couldn’t get a job in Lebanon since they’re was no jobs available but working for the terrorist. He needed to earn money for the family but luckily he was a good engineer. So he said his sad goodbyes and left for Canada. He would miss his family but he was planning on bringing them to Canada once he adjusted to his job and found great homes. Glad to hear that you and Jester are making friends, but your mom is right to keep you separate. He is a lot bigger than you!
Well, the rain rolled in last night and it fell all night long. Not a downpour, but a lovely gentle rain that put a big damper on the fire without washing out the hillsides. Mom says Mother Nature was looking out for us this time. Over 28,000 acres burned, and although it is not fully contained yet they hope it will be by tonight or tomorrow morning. No more ash in the air, but Mom is still keeping me inside. Maybe tomorrow I will get a sunbath, but I am getting mommy time anyway so I can't complain.
Tonight is my TV night with Mom. We watch Dancing With The Stars until my bedtime between 8:30 and 9:00. I have to say if I were a celebrity I could definitely do a better job than some of the stars who have already been voted off. The ones who are left could give me competition though!

Mom did get to see Iron Man 3 and it was really good. We don't think doing her nails is nerdy at all! It's a great idea and a way to have fun with it! It's very cool!
There is a preview for Catching Fire at the beginning of the movie. It's the same one that's been online for a few weeks but it looks cool!! OH! Tell your mom to stay for the credits when the movie is done. There's a stinger at the end and it's funny!

Hello Peatree~
How are you doing today? It's very pretty here still and I can't believe all the sunshine I am getting to enjoy.
Mom is going to run over to the library and the market soon but she's only going to the market across the street so she won't be gone long. The library is only 3 blocks up the street. I love having it so close so that when I'm done with my picture books mom can get over there and get me more! I truly do love storytime!
Mom and the kids want to go see Iron Man 3 but I don't know when they are going. Everyone has to go somewhere today so they might go tomorrow morning.
I hope everything is just wonderful at your place today!
