 I was lost and flying around a park in Miami when this strange man climbed up the tree and picked me up. He handed me to this lady and her two daughters, who took me home and fed me. They had no idea how old I was or what my name was. After a long search for my owners, they decided to keep me, and I've been with them ever since. The oldest daughter took me under her wing, and I'm "her 'tiel".. |

Audubon and Flock
With all my heart I thank you all.
Let me tell you about my first day....Mom finally got me all calmed down for my perch...the sleepy time tea was marvelous...and it seemed I'd just dropped off when all of a sudden all this confetti was landing all over me and Cookie was telling me to wake up that I was now the new Queen! And Cookie being Cookie you can't ignore him... hehe. So up I get and Sidney gets me all ready making sure my feathers are perfect...finding a few lovely shiny pieces of confetti...and I'm ushered outside where I find the most beautiful carriage waiting for me. Cookie helps Sidney cover me with the softest cape and blanket I have ever felt. And they said they were mine for always too. I look around and Popeye is there with a big smile and tells me to sit back and enjoy. I asked Cookie and Sidney to join me on my ride to the castle. I knew Cookie was cutting paper for a while but I don't know where he got it all!! He was tossing confetti all the way to the castle!! Yeah, ALL the way! It did make me feel special though. We get to the castle and Cookie is first out to give me a wing out of the carriage while Sidney straightened out the cape behind me. I'm led to the throne room where Zak stands with his beak in as big a grin as I've seen. TiPaul takes my wingtip and leads me up to the throne (which looks like a thimble next to Zak's) and Zak then turns the castle over to me. I asked he stay beside me and also to remain in the castle since he wasn't able to enjoy his month much. His smile got even BIGGER! Didn't think it could but it did. Although it is my month he is going to stay and build a rehab room. This should be wonderful.
I will be throwing my Ball probably Monday since dad says he's got plans this weekend. Hi Audubon
Punkin here. I'm a finch aiming for BOTM and was wondering if your flock could support me on my quest? I'm giving hints on types of flowers you can EAT safely. Please help me.
There's so many different flowers that I can put 2-3 up sometimes. hehehe
By special request from BeGe....YES! Japanese Honeysuckle is good.....
Honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica) - Sweet honey flavor. Only the flowers are edible. NOTE: Berries are highly poisonous - Do not eat them!
Primrose (Primula vulgaris) - Also know as Cowslip. This flower is colorful with a sweet, but bland taste. Add to salads, pickle the flower buds, cook as a vegetable, or ferment into a wine.
UPDATE ON BIRD: SHE CAME HOME YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT. SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE TOUCHED BECAUSE OF ALL THE NEEDLES FOR BLOOD AND X-RAYS AND STUFF. THIS MORNING HER LEFT FOOT IS USABLE!!!! NEARLY BACK TO NORMAL. WE ARE SOOOOOO HAPPY. MOM'S STILL GONNA GIVE HER SOME PAIN MEDS THOUGH.

Yes, Dad was a falconer 10 years prior to us 'tiels joining the family. He had to have a licensed falconer as a mentor/sponsor/teacher and then he had to pass a test, build a mews and have everything inspected before he could take his specially made trap (during trapping season) and catch a red-tail and then train it...whew! :)Come visit me, Pearl & Silver.

When Mom and Dad decided to get a parrot they only planned to get one, but it was obvious to Mom that we were bonded so we both went home with them. Being novice parrot owners neither thought to ask if we were "real" brothers, but we are now! Beak kisses and wing hugs to you and your flock.Come visit me, Pearl & Silver.
