Hi! My name is Ivan

I am a Hahn's Macaw from Rochester, MN.

Ivan the terrible, Canivin Ivan, Pretty boy, Little Nipper

18 years old   M

Hahn's Macaw

Grapes bread, peanuts, applesauce and what ever he can steal from the humans as they walk by.

He likes to sit on his rope if he can't be on Daddy's shoulder. He loves to sit out in the kitchen in the morning.

He does not like other birdies on his cage. He doesn't like the vacuum. He jumps on your shoulder and screams in your ear if you get to close to his cage.

I favor my Daddy. I love mom too, but I just love my Daddy more. He holds me and tells me he loves me. Both my mommy and my daddy almost cry when I pluck myself. They tell me I don't have to be afraid anymore and I can make as much noise as I want. But if I get too loud, I tell myself to knock it off so I don't get yelled at. My mommy and daddy try to remind my human brother not to tell me to knock it off because of the past abuse I went through with my other humans, but he is a teenager so I egnore him and keep squaking. I love my parents because they let me be the little Macaw I am.

He loves to tell you to come here and then bites your finger. He says pretty pretty birdie over and over. When it is time for bed, he will sit at the top of his rope and say come up come up and when you reach up, he will bite you again..

Even though you pluck,
your a diamond in the ruff...

  Hi
I am a Hahn's Macaw that didnt start out to good in life either but mom got me when I was 6 months old and I have a forever home. Sometimes when I scream she says she is going to give me away but I know she wont. I started picking when a vet did a bad wing trim on me. It bothered me so much that all I wanted to do was make it better. That was about 3 years ago and I still pick that wing. Sometimes I let the feathers start in but then I handle that and get rid of them. Mom cant stand it either when I pick. She says it hurts her so much to know that I am hurting myself. I dont do it to upset her its just a habit now. I am leaving you a vote and am glad you found a good home. Joy

Come visit me, Joy & Kiwi.

  Hi Ivan!
I pick my necklace sometimes too. I usually leave down there so I don't get too cold.
I am re-homed too. My mama found me in a parrot rescue. My previous owner put me in there because her boyfriend didn't like me so I didn't like boys at first. I'd scream in fear at them. Since then, I've come around and learned they're not all bad. I love my new mama and I've claimed her boyfriend as my own. I want to be with him all the time.
I bite and nip sometimes too. People just don't always get us! I used to bite and nip more, but I've learned that's not always necessary. You'll learn soon too.
I like singing along to the radio, showers, playing under the covers with my mama, and scratches (but only when I say so). I love to play in cardboard boxes and re-decorate them.
I hope you like your new home. I know you'll adjust to your new mama and dada soon.

Come visit me, Sophie & Tinks.

  Hello Ivan ~
I stopped by to visit you and to give you a vote. I am also a Hahn's macaw and think that we are pretty special! I squawk sometimes too, but mostly in the mornings when my mom gets up cos I'm so happy to see her, and then again in the evenings because I know it is time for her to take me out for our special time together. I am so happy that you found a nice home with lots of love. Take care!

Come visit me, Boo.

  Hey
Poor thing, do you pluck your feathers? I'm sorry. Maybe you can try a product or medicine to make you stop... My dad has a Hahn's macaw. She doesn't pluck her feathers but she does have some stress bars on her feathers. She's doing a lot better. I hope you get better! I voted for you because you look like you've been through a lot. I hope you get better!

  Hello Ivan
I love my Daddy more too, but Mom is pretty cool too. I can't wait until Dad gets home so we can sit in his recliner and watch tv and get tons of skritches. I was pretty nippy when I first came to live with my new Parronts, but now I am more of a lover than a fighter. You are a cool bird and deserve a vote. Ninja

Come visit me, Eddie, Ninja, Harley and Daisy, Indiana, Ruby, Baxter & Chester.

I am happy you have a loving happy home. Your Dad and Mom will take good care of you and your Dad will spoil you so much. I only have a Mom and she wants to be a zoologist so her Mom will have to take care of us cause we cannot go to college with her but that is a few years away, in the meantime Mom wants a hyacinth macaw.I am voting for you and think you are a neat bird.

Come visit me, Babycakes, Snigglefritz, Pumpkin, HALDIR AND PINK LADY, Sparkle and I am lost, escaped my cage, Shadow & Shannigans.

  Hi Ivan
Welcome to the channel! Wow, aren't you a lucky bird to have found your new forever home! I'm sorry you have a sad story behind you....but remember, it's all behind you now! I am a cockatoo and I have a pretty sad story too. I used to work at an Amusement Park and had several issues when my mom found me. I am a plucker as well. My mom has tried everything from the vet, a behaviourist, tons of toys and so on....I still pluck. Mom thinks it's because of my background...I mean, after all, us birds have good memories! Right now I have the dreaded e-collar on. My feathers are coming back and mom is hoping I don't pluck them again when the collar comes off. She loves me so very much though in spite of all that. I'm glad we found such good homes finally. Not every bird is so lucky. I'm giving you my vote today...come visit me sometime! Birdie hugs, Buddy

Come visit me, Clyde, Tiki, Buddy, r.i.p. 8/20/08 & Bobbi.

  Hi Ivan & Family
I am glad you have a nice family that loves you lots. Its too bad you pluck. Sam will pluck if he is around other birds and has no where he can hide. My Grandmother used to ask him to stop and sympathize with him and it made him do it more for the attention. Its so hard to watch a bird do that. Good luck with Ivan. I am glad to say that Sam is pluck free, but i still have to watch him. here's a vote for you, Ivan is very cool.

Come visit me, Sierra & Sam.
