Hi Bella, Long time no Squak.
Well this is surely the time to be in sunny florida. We're in the low 70's today, and will bee like that for the next 7 days for sure. We're getting ready for the BIG bird show in ORLANDO, in April, when we'll have 6-8 of our BC friends down here to party, and have fun, and of course, we'll all be at the show on Sunday. Stop by anytime, it's always a pleasure to see you. Squak.

  Merry Christmas Bella!!!
This is Juni. I haven't been on in a while so I wanted to come by and say hi to all my friends. I miss all of you guys. Mom's too busy for BC with school, her art business, and us. I really miss being on BC and hanging out with my friends.
Cinny, Sugar, Pearl, and Faith are all great. There's nothing new with them really. Same with Sally. Curious is now moms bird because his daddy didn't have time for him anymore. Tico is almost ours. Mom's just waiting for some money to come in and then she'll buy him. I am great to. I have developed a very protective bond with mom and now have to be very carefully supervised out of the cage because of how I attack any person or bird who gets anywhere near mom. I've left quite a few scars one people who try to high five or hug her.
If you would like to stay in contact with mom and our flock, here's our e-mail.
Mom probably won't be getting on BC very often still so please e-mail us.
I miss you SO much!!

Hi Bella and flock and family,
My dear friends,

I would like to take this moment to thank you for all the well wishes and many many prayers for me to get well and healthy again. I really appreciate all the love and support you all have given me and my mom.

I don’t think I would have come this far had it not been for everybirdie and their parronts love and support keeping me going strong and to fight this bacteria.

I am so thankful that I have a forever home, a great mommy and daddy and frother Pookie.

I am also thankful for all the new friends I have made since being on the BC from the beginning of this year.

I guess you could say I’ve come a long way baby, huh? :)

A girly bird couldn’t ask for more than all of that. :)

I would like to wish everybirdie and their parronts a very Happy Thanksgiving and may you all be happy and your belly nice and full and smiles on your face from this day on and forever more.

Mom was listening to the radio and heard this song that was playing when she was taking me to the past vet visit.

Its called That’s the way it is by Celine Dion, have you heard it before? Well, the lyrics go like this:

I can read your mind and I know your story I see what you're going through It's an uphill climb, and I'm feeling sorry But I know it will come to you don't surrender 'cause you can win In this thing called love When you want it the most there's no easy way out When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt Don't give up on your faith Love comes to those who believe it And that's the way it is. . . . .

When you question me for a simple answer I don't know what to say, no . . . But it's plain to see, if we stick together You're gonna find a way, yeah So don't surrender 'cause you can win in this thing called love

When you want it the most there's no easy way out When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt Don't give up on your faith Love comes to those who believe it
And that's the way it is . . . . .

When life is empty with no tomorrow and loneliness starts to call baby, don't worry, forget your sorrow 'cause love's gonna conquer it all, all when you want it the most there's no easy way out When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt don't give up on your faith Love comes to those who believe it And that's the way it is . . . .

When you want it the most there's no easy way out when you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt don't give up on your faith Love comes to those who believe it and that's the way it is…

Mom cried as she heard this song and thought of me and my struggles.

That’s why I’m so thankful for all of you. You all are helping me get stronger and feel better to fight this bacteria and be able to get nice and healthy and love my new life, with my new forever family.

Here's also a vote for you today. :)

God Bless you all!

Thank You!

  Hi Bella and flock,
The doctor said that I seem to look bettter. So he wants to keep me on the antibiotics some more.
However, this antibiotic has side effects so he did blood work to make sure my kidneys and other
organs are not affected by it. It will only take 1 day for the test results which is good so I think they
did it in-house.

They will call mom either on Sunday or Monday for the test results as he said it will only take 1 day.

If my organs are okay I will stay on the antibiotics, if not he will switch me to the drops in the boo boo. That would be easier on the both of us but not as effective as the shots.

The doctor said mom did good in giving me the shots as I had no bruising at all.

Mom said well, she's the one that's a wreck trying to give it to me. She don't want to hurt me as much as
possible, being that I have to tolerate the needle. Mom always feel so bad after giving me the shot but she keeps talking to me and saying its gonna heal me and make you feel better sweetie. So she reasure me that things will be okay after all of this. Plus mom thinks I look forward to my treats afterwards.

So, mom thinks I know that this medicine will help heal me and make me feel better. I kinda do.

The doctor could tell that I was more fiesty when trying to clean out my boo boo. I am also getting stronger and eating more which is very good. I think I did gain a few more grams as he weighed me with the towel. I was really fighting the doctor when he was trying to clean my boo boo.

The doctor really cleaned out my boo boo too, mom could not believe how much stuff or gunk was accumulating
in my boo boo. He said it was pus or something, and he said that people don't realize how much accumulates and that it needs to be cleaned out or it will get worse.
I guess if I had to say it was the amount of like a baby size carrot all chopped up.

He said I am healing more because I did not bleed as much when he cleaned my boo boo area. So, mom is kinda on pins and needles with waiting for the results.

Mom printed out some of the blogs from my friends on the and showed it to him and told him see, we have prayers, lots of um for me. He read some and mom also told him the prayers just keep pouring in, so we are good and that sometimes mom can't keep up to thank everyone for their prayers as mom only has her phone thingy. Mom also told him that some people
commented about him as being a very good vet for me and stuff like that, he was kinda surprised that we had this kind of support for a little bird. He filed the sheets of blogs in my file.

Mom also says that now i'm weazing and not sure if that is good or bad, but I wasn't doing that before the vets.

But, it could be cause of the weather and wind and stuff. But I feel better that my boo boo is cleaned out. :) I feel lighter some how.

Also, mom and I want to thank those who sent in checks to the vets office for me. That shows the vet that we are serio

  hi Bella
always time for toys and treats. Can't think of anything better for a fun day.

An elegant, well-dressed lady went into her local pet shopand found a huge, gorgeous parrot in a cage way back in a corner of the shop. Catching her admiring the bird, the storeowner hurried over. "I don't think a lady like you would want that bird. You see, it lived in a -- well, in a house of illrepute all its life." The lady felt sorry for the bird, bought it, and installed the cage in her beautifully appointed living room. As she carefully drew off the heavy cage drape, the bird bobbed its head and eyed her and its new surroundings. "Aaaaawk!" it suddenly said. "New house! New madam!" Taken aback, the lady was about to reprimand the parrot when her three teenaged daughters wandered in asking what all the noise was about. The parrot jumped up and down, squawking, "Aaaaaawk! New house! New madam! New girls!" Notamused, the lady was determined to cover the cage again until she could work with the poor bird, when her husband came in from work. The parrot fixed him with a beady stare a she hung up his coat. Then it flapped its wings and shrieked,"Aaaaawwwwk! New house, new madam, new girls... same old john!"

  Hi Bella and flock,
Well I feel a little better but still a little sore. :(

The doctor didn't put me to sleep during the surgery, but it did hurt a little bit.

The lump on my nare was basically a pus formation kinda thing, well that's what the doctor said. He said the other doctor did a good job, but not..... that good. To put it nicely.

He wants me to come back again next saturday so he can check on my boo boo. He also wants to clean it out more after I heal a little.

Later on he said he would fill the gap with an acrylic type of stuff to reinforce my beak to try and prevent it from falling off and to make it stronger for me. Right now my beak is weak due to the gap and stuff.

He is leaving me on the antibiotics to try and control the infection/bacteria that is in my body. Mom does see signs of improvement which is very good.

I am more playful and mom requested a smaller needle so I got a 30 gauge instead of the other one which mom thought was kinda big for me and harder for her to inject in me.

Also, the doctor said that I would need lots of prayers to get through this really really big ordeal. Mom said no problem she will send out a request for prayers.

I will keep you all posted on my condition.

Mom says that I am such a fighter and has this spunk in me, mom feels that I am getting better and has the strongest will to live.

So, again I ask to please keep me in your prayers. I’m gonna need all that I can get.

Thank you and God Bless you all.

Hope you all have a nice sunny Sunday and here's a vote for you too. :)

  Hi Bella and flock,
Oh well, you haven't missed much i've been sick for awhile. :( been getting shots 3 times a day for 9 days till I saw the new vet yesterday and he put me on a different kind of antibiotic called amikacin. And its very little and it doesn't go deep in my muscle it goes under my skin so not too sore, but still. :(

I hafta take it every 12 hours for until I see the doctor next which is next Saturday. Hopefully I will be better and he is also going to do minor surgery on my boo boo. He's going to clean it up, all the crusty parts above and around my eyes and clean out the birdie booger out of my nares too. He is only going to charge mom $100 for that procedure cause she explained her financial situation to him.

He seemed very nice and very very sure of himself. He is also a Member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians. That's a plus and he has worked on boo boo birds like me before. :)

I'm hoping i'll be better very very soon. :)

Here's a sunny Sunday vote for you. :)

  Hi Bella and flocksters,
Hi everyone, I just finished my 14 day antibiotics and mom noticed a black lump on my good nare.

As you can see in the pictures its right over my good nare. I’ve been scratching it and mom’s tried to deter me but to no avail. :( My regular doctor is out of state and will not return till later, so I will see another doctor and the earliest appointment is on the 19th. Mom prays this is not the same bacteria that I had before. I'm not sure what is going on inside
of me but I fell off my cage twice yesterday afternoon. Mind you my cage is over 5 feet tall and we have wooden floors, Papa Peter heard me and picked me up with the stick and put me back on top of my cage. He does not really interact with us fids much. Mom was outside at the time and did not know till daddy came to get me.

Dad also said my equilibrium seems to be off, like how I was before the surgery on my left nare. At that time I walked very unstable on my perches because of the growth in the way of my eye sight. I think the growth on mynare that’s what made it hard to see.

Now the same nare the one that I had surgery on seems to be growing back also, that could possibly get in the way of my eye sight, i'm not sure.

I got to sleep on mom’s pillow last night, as mom was sooo worried about me or if she had any internal injuries from the fall. Mom says I seems to be okay,
but something she sees with my eyes doesn't look right. I'm not sure what it is.

Mom sent out an email for prayers for me, she’s afraid I’m gonna fly to Rainbow Bridge….. silly mom, my flight feathers were trimmed! Mom’s I tell ya. :O

Well, that’s the skinny of this weekend, hope yours was better than mine.

Here’s a vote and a hug & kiss from me.

  Hi Bella
Sorry for the c/p today. Here's the update.
Skitters got adopted! The lady who was fostering him and the other amazon decided to keep them. We are all so happy for him.
I've been being naughty as ever. I decided to give mom a scare by popping the metal stick out of a plastic ringed bird toy and getting my head stuck in one of the rings. Mom did not know what to do because I was just plain stuck and she had no idea how I got my head into such a tiny circle. She had to get some pliers and snap the toy in half to finally free me. I thought it was funny.
I've learned some new words. I learned how to cough from when mom was sick. I can say what, hello, come here, laugh, uh-hu, and more now. Mom's excited for me.
Here's a vote.
P.S. Keep me updated on the grey.

It's great to hear from you. The grey is coming later this month! Oh, that's scary but, you're strong enough. I'm sure you can show her who's boss and make sure she knows her place. Mom's starting to seriously think about getting to know a rescue ekkie from our parrot club. He's a sweetheart to people but he doesn't get along well with other birds. No more birds mom!
I'm doing good. Mom's been sick so I haven't had very much out of cage time. She took me out to lunch on Tuesday to make it up.

  Hi Bella,
Long time no squak, huh? How have you been? Lots has gone on over here.

Here's a hump day vote for you.

Here's the skinny on what's been going on:
Our neighbor has been smoking dope and has a medical card for it, but the smoke comes into our living room and into the bird room. That's why mom thinks how Sally got sick.

Well, taking finesse would not work with this guy.
He seems like a rugged druggie type of person.
So, mom has been talking to the building manager and are
trying to work things out for everyone involved. Since that is a non-smoking building, there will be NO SMOKING anywhere. No exceptions. If they are caught smoking on the premises or in the unit they will be asked to vacate, due to breaking the rules before they moved in.

A written letter by the owner will be sent to each unit. Also mom Has mentioned the legality of the situation, as we state and city workers often get drug tested and if it comes up positive it stays on our record regardless of the situation.

Therefore, mom brought up a law suit waiting to happen and believe me, mom is a digger of a paralegal even though she’s not. She will pursue this one full force but with Sallykins in mind, more so she gonna wanna go for the jugular, take no prisoners and no mercy!

But not to worry, mom thinks they are moving out cause that guy was not on the Lease of the apartment only the girlfriend and only she works.

He does not work at all, he only sits at home smoking his dope so they had many many fights about him not working.

The apartment has been dark for a couple of days now, let’s all pray that
they moved out. :)

We will keep you all posted of As the Apartment Turns.....Stay tuned the saga continues.

Pookie & Sallykins

haven't been on BC in forever! It's all mom's fault! Sally, I hope you feel better soon. You are so cute in your pictures! Good luck with the neighbor saga. I'll be back, mom has to tuck the kids in. And Rufous says "Hi" and tell Pookie hello. Hugs!!! Bella

Mommy's tried snuggy's for the tiels and keets before but they really weren't interested. Conures are typically cuddly birdies...especially me!
Mom took me out to fly on my harness the other day and I almost made it all the way across the yard before I landed in the grass. It was hard, but worth it for the treats!

Okay, the pics are out of order, but follow along with me if you will: We will follow the geese outside to witness why we do what we do at the center! They are showing us pics of releases on the property. The one to the right of the geese is an old pic of a brown bat release. On the top row is from left to right, a Great horned owl in the carrier going outside, then the same owl after release, in the tree. The third pic is of a successful Cooper's hawk release. Our center releases around 63-65% of the animals we take in, which is about double the national average for wildlife rehabilitation. We are rewarded with pics like these, showing 'our' animals going home again. It's a wonderful sight, birds flying free, possums, bunnies, squirrels, and yes, snakes and turtles going home where they belong. I was pleased to lead this tour this month, and if you'd like to donate to the center, it is easy to do. The mailing address is Wildlife Center, 6000 Verona Road, Verona PA 15147. Checks should be made out to ARL Wildlife Center. If you would like to donate electronically, the website is You may also request to be on the Internest Exlorer's list, and receive bi monthly updates and stories about the work at the center. Thank you for your kind words and of course, your votes all month long. I hope to be your king tomorrow, but win or lose, I've had a wonderful month telling you about some of the stuff mom leaves us to do! Hugs, and a vote, Willie

  Hi Bella
Well, we've seen all the rooms, and today I'm showing some of the animals that have come to us recently. They are in the treatment room, on their way to an enclosure where they can receive proper diets, or into the waterfowl area, where they can be treated before release. The first pic is a ruby throated hummingbird. We keep these little birds in the avian nursery until their release, since they are so petite. The second pic is a green heron, getting his exam. He was later moved to an indoor enclosure with a 'pond' in it, and released on the river. The third pic is of a grebe. These birds rarely leave the water, so we don't get too many of them at the center. Usually when we get them, they've landed on a wet parking lot or street, thinking it's water. They don't function too well on land, though, so they are rescued by kind hearted people and brought in to us. Usually, after examining them, they are up for release, as they've just lost their way and are not hurt. Did you ever see a grebe's feet? They are really cool, look like leaves of water plants! So, we are nearly done with this month long run. The only places mom didn't take pics was the outdoor waterfowl area and the turtle pen. Sorry, she wasn't thinking about them for a building tour. Usually when we do tours of the building, we show people the nurseries and the menagerie where the education animals are kept. I've given you a real 'behind the scenes' tour this month, though, so you got to see much more than most folks! Here's a vote and a hug, thanks for coming to vote for me! Willie

  Hi Bella
Well, since we detoured to the treatment room yesterday, let's peek in at the nurseries today. In the mammal nursery, there are a fox squirrel and gray squirrel side by side, and we can see a baby squirrel getting fed. This is what mom and the other fosters do at home before they are weaned. Fosters can take their babies to the center to feed if they are on a shift, though. The second pic is of another baby bunny on the verge of release. Bunnies may breed 5 times over the summer, so the center always has bunnies of various ages in the bunny room all season long. We're coming into the home stretch now, and I need to talk about the guts of the building, where volunteers put in a ton of time. That's the back 1/4 of the building, where the kitchen and laundry areas are located. There are about 20 loads of laundry every day all summer long, but we just got an industrial washer and dryer donated, so that will cut down on loads done. It can hold up to 20 lbs of wash at a time, YAY!!! There are also 2 freezers and one refrigerator, recently installed by the Animal Rescue League. These replace 2 old freezers and 2 old refrigerators that had been there for ages, since mom started. One of the refrigerators was so old, it needed defrosted every couple of weeks! There is also a large linen storage area in this part of the building, as well as food cupboards, large metal cans with dry foods, such as birdseed, rabbit food, etc., and a room with kennels of various sizes for taking animals out on programs or for their enclosures, as hides. At the sinks, you're likely to see a volunteer washing and disinfecting dishes almost all day long, too. Well, that's the very back of the building, I'll be back tomorrow with more animals! Hugs and a vote for you, Willie

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Peppino, Divo & Falco.

  Hi Bella
Mom volunteers at a wildlife center, and these are pics of the animals who have come in there, or who live there permanently.
Okay, okay, enough with the herps corner! (That's the reptiles and amphibians, you know.) Today we're going back outside, into the large flight cage. Usually we have hawks or owls there, making sure they can hunt and roost successfully. The day mom took the pics, though, there were killdeer in there, making sure they could scratch out a living on the floor! The cage is huge, about the size of a large barn, with an open roof, netted of course. There are large branches and logs in there, with a hide box for those who need it. Other animals can use the flight cage, as well as hawks, falcons, and owls. As you see, the killdeer are in there, but we also use it for foxes prior to release. We see if they can dig their way out! If so, they're ready to go. Thanks for your votes, here's a vote and a hug for you too. Willie

  Hi Bella
I'm sorry I haven't been on much. Mommy's been really busy and she just doesn't have time. This is the first time I've been on in over a week! Anyways, I'm having fun with my new cage. Mom got me a new toy yesterday for me. But I've been playing more with the paper price tag that was attached to it than the toy itself. I'll get to it eventually. Mom wants to build an outdoor aviary next Spring or Summer for the tiels. It would be their summer get away. Here's a vote.

  Hi, Bella,
Oh, no, somebody bad stole your Mom's identity? That's terrible. Did she discover it before too much damage? She'll have to be very diligent for a long time to make sure everything is okay. Did they catch the person who did it? Well, if anyone were to threaten you birds or the skinsibs we're sure you'd hear more of the interesting language, heehee, all Moms can be fierce if the need arises.

Rufous divebombed you? That's bad birdie behavior. We've flown into each other a couple of times, guess we got tired or crossed signals where the other was going. Sounds like he was jealous that you got to Mom first. Best to be out separately.

Have a great day, wing hugs, beak kisses and a vote, Pearl and Silver. (Hi, Rufous, no dive bombing your fister!)

Come visit me, Pearl & Silver.

Seems like more birdies are getting good weather for the end of summer. You didn't get the hot/humid there, did you? We got some hot, but not humid.

So, you got to go outside while the carpets were cleaned. Was someone out there with you? A lil 'tiel like you has a cage so big it's difficult to get out the door? Does it have to be tilted? It's nice to have a big space.

How does the human flock keep the cat away when they are not home? Are you birds in a separate room that has a door the cat can't open? Can't imagine keeping a cat in a carrier all day...

So nice to have you visit, hi to Rufous, wing hugs, beak kisses and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi from Roscoe
Hey Bella,It's really been busy around here lately. An old sweetie of daddies is moving in. And we are going to have a full house now. Her and her two daughters,4 hamsters,1 rabbit and a chiweeny dog. Who is also named Bella. Daddie managed to get time to help with our chats. We've had a time trying to move everything into the house. It's taking several trips. And she lived over an hour away. Daddie really had to clean up and throw away things to make room for everyone. Mostly cleaning out the closets. Women have ten tons of clothes. And she still says she needs more. WOW! Glad I grow my own feathers and don't have to go shopping for them. hehehe. Pretty girl really likes her 10 year old daughter. So now I get daddie. Hope everything is going well with your flock. OXOXOX's

  Hi, Bella,
We are both well. It's in the 80s here with a breeze, not like the midwest/east getting the 90+ and humidity.
So, our summer is good.
Yes, we turned 9 this year. There's a 'tiel on BC (haven't blogged/heard from him lately) that is 27! Other 'tiels we've visited are into their teens, so you only being 1 you'll be keeping your Mom company for a long time.
Hmmmm, you like guitar music? Our Dad 'plays' at the electric guitar, but usually we've already gone to birdie bedtime when he gets it out and plugged in.
So nice to have you visit, wing hugs, beak kisses and a vote, Pearl and Silver.

  Hi Bella
This will be my last time on BC before mom leaves for CA. Horrible news! Mommy found out that the house we were supposed to be staying in has a mouse problem and there are no other places to stay so I don't get to come! Mommy feels horrible but she says it's for my own good. Better safe than sorry! She said she'll try to send me e-cards while she's gone and maybe get on BC for me a couple times. Anyways, I will miss you lots!

  Hi Bella
I will miss you too. Mom said that they might have a computer there that I can get on a few times. So I might be able to visit but either way, I will definitely come say hi when I get back. I will have mom take some pics of me on the ranch. I wonder if I'll get to ride a horse.
Here's a vote.
