Hey, Parrot Club Members! Sorry about the late newsletter - Things got busy! We have quite a bit to talk about this month. First of all, I apologize for having to delay Parrot of Week until October. Things got to busy to be able to hold it. For those who did not get last months newsletter, or forgot, here's how POTW is going to work:

1) Contest starts on Oct. 1st
2) To vote for your favorite club member, leave a blog on the page.
3) You may vote for ONE bird per day
4) You may vote for yourself but it is not preferred
5) You can become POTW once every 2 months depending on the number of members.

•Smallest Parrots• Native to the forest of New Guinea, Pygmy Parrots are the smallest in the parrot family. They are fast moving, and mostly green with bright highlights. There are six different species, the smallest being the Buff Faced Pygmy Parrots, at only a little over 8cm (3.5 inches). Pygmy Parrots spend most of their time climbing thorugh foliage, using its large feet and beak, and stiffened tail feathers.
•Largest Parrots• The Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus), or Hyacinthine Macaw, is a parrot native to central and eastern South America. With a length (from the top of its head to the tip of its long pointed tail) of about 100 cm (3.3 ft) it is longer than any other species of parrot. It is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species, though the flightless Kakapo of New Zealand can outweigh it at up to 3.5 kg. Habitat loss has taken it's toll on these gorgeous yellow and blue birds, making them endangered. The pet trade also takes part in this tragedy.

CLUB NEWS -- I know I am quite late on this, but I am still working on collecting the club member's photos so that it makes it easier to vote come POTW time. It would help if you could blog me telling me which photo you would like me to use for your membership photo! Thanks!

I hope you have enjoyed this month's newsletter. Tell your friends!!

Cheers - Spirit Cloude, Parrot Club © President
