I had it in the back of my mind to get a parrot. Was looking through the local classifieds as I usually do and saw an Amazon advertised. She was just a few blocks from my house. The following day I bought her. Being my first parrot, I fussed with her so much that first day she got tiard of me and gave me my first Amazon bite. WOW, that sure gained her some respect..

Hi! My name is Kiki

I am a Yellow-Naped Amazon from Yakima, WA.

11 years old   F

Yellow-Naped Amazon

Kiki likes pine nuts & peanuts.

Kiki hangs out half way down the stairs on a landing that has become her territory. She has a perch, toys and during non breeding times a box to demolish. She has been known to rush someone comming down the stairs, so beware.

My gardian gives me freedom yet keeps me safe. In the morning we sit at the computer and at night we sit in bed to watch TV. She takes me for car rides and sometimes I get to go to bird club. She always warns people not to touch me as I may bite.

Kiki will make a b-line for the bathroom if the door is open. She either peels the paint off the drawers or climbs the drawer handles and gets in the top drawer, tosses the stuff out, goes in the drawer to the back and perches there. The first time this happened we were opening & closing the drawer looking for her. She was holding on to the back of the drawer inside the cabnit while we were opening & closing the drawer looking for her. What a ride she must have had."Keep the bathroom door closed, I'm obsessed.".

Every life is precious, enrich your parrots life and share them with others..

  Hi Kiki and Flock
Punkin here. I'm a finch on a quest to be BOTM. Could you support me by voting every day? After all the snow flurries yesterday the sun is a very welcome sight. Tomorrow should be a fantastic outside day!
I'm giving hints about flowers we birds and humans can EAT!!
It's they yellow "weed" time. But I'm thinking it's feast time. hehehe

Dandelions (Taraxacum officinalis) - Member of the Daisy family. Flowers are sweetest when picked young. They have a sweet, honey-like flavor. Mature flowers are bitter. Dandelion buds are tastier than the flowers: best to pick these when they are very close to the ground, tightly bunched in the center, and about the size of a small gumball. Good raw or steamed. Also made into wine. Young leaves taste good steamed, or tossed in salads. When serving a rice dish use dandelion petals like confetti over the rice.

Day Lilies (Hemerocallis species) - Slightly sweet with a mild vegetable flavor, like sweet lettuce or melon. Their flavor is a combination of asparagus and zucchini. Chewable consistency. Some people think that different colored blossoms have different flavors. To use the surprisingly sweet petals in desserts, cut them away from the bitter white base of the flower. Also great to stuff like squash blossoms. Flowers look beautiful on composed salad platters or crowning a frosted cake. Sprinkle the large petals in a spring salad. In the spring, gather shoots two or three inches tall and use as a substitute for asparagus.
NOTE: Many Lilies contain alkaloids and are NOT edible. Day Lilies may act as a diuretic or laxative; eat in moderation.

  Hi Kiki
V4U today. Sorry that your mom won't be at the movie today, it should be fun. We will let you know all about it. Glad your mom found a friend here at bird channel. Maybe, she could bring her new friend to the next bird club meeting. It is always nice to meet fellow bird people.

Wing hugs and beakie kisses from your friend Taz

V4U and your fellow flock mates as well.
How are things in Yakima? What do you like to do to drive your mom crazy? I like to voice my opinion loudly whenever she is watching a show especially at the end when she is really trying to hear what is going on.

Wing hugs and beakie kisses from your friend Scooby Doo
