I was near you, by your bed last night; I came to have a peek. I could see that
you were crying, you found it hard to sleep. I chattered to you softly as you

Ipo here to thank you for flying by my page a while back. With Punkin working hard to make the castle none of the rest of us got to get online. But now that she's at the castle we can go out and meet new friends and visit with our old ones again. Hope we can get to know each other and be friends. Sidney says she used to live in the same cage with a sunnie.

Hi thanks for the advice. Sorry to hear about your bird. I can imagine the pain that something preventable took his life. I dont trust when things say safe so i usually go by if it looks safe. Now the mirror i bought her they sell that mirror all over. I think i ordered the mirror from Drs. Foster and Smith. The toys i got her are made of strings and wood and stuff. I was wondering what kind of mirror it was you bought. I will stay away from the mirrors and stuff if i see them at pet smart. I mean anything that looks like there could be lead in it i will stay away from.Come visit me, FEATHER.

In Memory of Sundance
The Rainbow Bridge for Parrots:
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When a bird dies that has been especially close to someone here, that bird goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
At the Rainbow Bridge there are meadows and hills and beautiful trees of all kinds where all our special friends can fly and climb, hang and flap, hop and run, jump and play, squawk and squeal and sing together.
There is plenty of good food, including grapes and peanuts, ice cream and cheese, spaghetti and especially lots of pizza. There is crystal clear water in brooks and springs are filled with water as well as every kind of delicious fresh fruit juice.
One warm spring even runs full of the coffee they can now drink their fill of without hearing a single no-no. There is lots of glorious sunshine, and sweet warm rain when they want it and our friends are warm and comfortable and totally at peace.
All the birds who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor and to their natural incredible beauty. Their feathers shine, their wing feathers are whole, and their eyes gleam once again with vitality.
Those who were hurt or maimed or ignored or broken-hearted are made whole and strong and free of fear again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by.
The birds are happy and content..... except for one small thing - they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind when the bird returned home. Still they all fly and play happily and safely and noisily together - even the grouchiest greys and orneriest senegals, the tiniest finches and the grandest macaws.
But the day comes for each bird when he suddenly stops and looks far into the distance. His body freezes and his bright eyes are intent as he watches and listens in silence. Suddenly he begins to fly from the group, soaring over the green grass, his wings flapping harder and harder!
You have been spotted - and he shrieks to you and then calls your name and his own and cries again and again and as he rushes toward you.
When you and your bird finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, knowing you will never be parted again.
Your face and your fingers - and even your toes - are covered with beak nibbles and soft ecstatic kisses. Your hair is preened by that special beak, and his head bends under your fingers to invite your touch. Your hands again find their way under beloved wings, to caress the downy softness beneath.
You look once more into the trusting eyes of your companion-so long gone from your physical life on earth, but never for an instant absent from your heart.
Your tears of joy are gently brushed away by those beloved wings... and feeling immersed once more in total contentment and love, you and your beloved companion cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

How hot is it in Salida? It is so hot and humid here in the northeast corner, no rain for 9 days and the mosquitoes and grasshoppers are everywhere. To Sundance's Mom
I too have a sun conure and he is the love of my life. Although my days are too busy for him to be with me every minute, he spends the entire night with me. He is now 17 years old and to loose him would be catastrophic for me. You have my very deepest sympathies and prayers.
Have you notified Petsmart about the mirror toy? I would write a letter to the main office - you can find the information on line - and let them know about that toy. Think how many other birds might be lost if they don't pull that toy? But thank you for making us aware that this could happen. Now I need to find out how to tell if a metal has lead in it.
This is very disturbing - but I know your little Sundance is over the Rainbow Bridge and waiting for you. I have to believe this!

Thank you for stopping by my page.. I read about sweet little Sundance and my heart is breaking for you. I am so sorry you had to lose such a precious baby in such a terrible way! Have you considered contacting Petsmart since they were the retailers providing the contaminated toys? I would even consider contacting the manufacturer. If you are on facebook or other social media outlet please post about this and let other people know. I thought petsmart would be more vigilant with the toys they sell but this made me think twice about what I purchase from here on out.
Both you and Sundance are in our thoughts and prayers. The wonderful memories you have of him will bring you comfort because you know you gave him so much love.

In Memory of Sundance
My baby Sun Conure Sundance was the bird of my dreams, I loved him so much and on the day he went to the Rainbow Bridge, I cried for 3 solid days. He was always with me, we ate our meals together, his favorite place to sleep was on my shoulder, he had another cage in my bedroom and I would sing to him until he fell asleep and when he called to me in the nighttime, I would go to his cage and put him on my shoulder and talk to him to calm his fears.
I can't understand the reason why?. The bird toy was bought online from petsmart and it was that special toy that took his life.
Why would the manufacture of that toy put an lead alloy on the rim of the beautiful mirror?
I need answers and I don't know where else to go, for a answer. I need some input from the other members of bird channel. please!!

FROM LEAD TOXICITY FROM A PARROT TOY PURCHASED FROM PETSMART.COM.
THE TOY DESCRIPTION SAID IT HAD A STEEL RIM ON THE MIRROR PART OF THE TOY AND WAS BIRD SAFE.
THE RIM WAS MADE WITH AN LEAD ALLOY.
SUNDANCE WAS CHEWING ON THE RIM AND INGESTED THE LEAD. AVIAN VETERINARIAN DR. ANN SCHULTZ X- RAYED SUNDANCE AND THE X-RAYS SHOWED THE LEAD PIECES IN HIS CROP AND URINARY TRACT..Come visit me, Angel Rainbow, Angel Prizm, Chico, Angel Sunshine, Marigold, Angel My Little Angel, Joy, Chiquita, Pretty Baby, Angel Sundance & Angel Blueberry.

My eyes were painted at the last bird event on BC, and I got to post the pic on my page. I like the flower on my beak too. I am a picky eater, I like apples and grapes, and not much else, except for my pellets and some nutriberries.
