 When I first joined BC, I was surprised that there wasn't much conversation about conservation. I put up profiles of birdies who are less fortunate than the pampered Pollys that the BC people have. So, here is the extinct birds' page, making sure they are never forgotten. They flew our skys once, but never again. We should honor them and how they had to die because of us.
My favorite extinct birds:

We had one snow a good while ago but that has about it so far.Can you believe this morning dad emptied his oatmeal box and gave it to me! Me, who loves bags, dad, not boxes! Oh woo is me if dad ever has to take care of us if mom isn’t around. Mom took the goofy box out and gave me a paper bag though and then dad wanted to know just what was the matter with the box? We havent gotten much snow here yet but we know it wont be long. I guess its time for that big turkey day again soon. I saw mom bringing Tom up from downstairs and he sure looked heavy and a bit….dead. We go through this every year and mom messes with old Tom for almost a week and then he disappears for another year. I suppose there will be people here again too. Hi,
Did you get some pet parrots? Any pics yet?
Out parronts can tell us apart when you see us in birdson, in pics it's a bit harder...We have distinct personalities. Pearl is very pecky. One look at our tails will tell you who is who as Silver always has broken, bent or missing tail feathers. Pearl has a perfect tail. (Pearl flies and lands better.) The parronts don't know if we are related, but we were adopted together and already bonded. Not DNA tested, but fairly certain we're both males...

I'm back !
I missed all my BC friends ! Mom is going to put up some vacation pictures of me at Skaneateles later ! Almost took a ride up to see the Aunt and Uncle in Penfield, but the weather was so nice last week mom didn't want to leave the waterfront !

Going on vacation !

Polly here. The skin portion of the flock took a trip to visit another skin member that lives out of state. We had a neighbor taking care of us. We are happy to have the flock back. We missed them. AND the typist is back!

When you have some interesting or fun facts we'd like to see them. Always good to share info. We are fine. Skinsis came over yesterday and after dinner decided she wanted some popcorn. Out came the air popper and voila we have popcorn. So, munching on that. Cooler today. Nice, mild CA summer...

It is very sad when a species goes extinct. It is exciting when previously thought species are discovered, even in small quantities. Yes, we believe in the wise usage of resources.

You're not forgotten! We all love you and like talking to you. And do not plot against the others, they didn't do anything wrong. I think the easiest way to get people to talk to you is to go say hi to them. Pretty soon you'll have a back and forth conversation that can go on forever! Please don't feel rejected. We think of you all the time wishing there was a way of having you back. Humans are not always very (in fact pretty stupid) very smart when it comes to living beings other than themselves. There are those of us trying to change that but we so far are a small group.
