I hope you all had a terrific day - it was quiet here . . . mom made a real breakfast and traditional ham dinner . . .
Tell mama Jean that it's been 24 years since mom lost her mother (27 since her father passed) and although most days get better, there are some days that time just doesn't heal . . .
At least she's on vacation - even if she did go and make a grooming appt. for me on Wednesday :(

What a way to start off mom's vacation :)
Today mom made Easter bread - it is so labor and time intensive, it kept her home ALL day :) Easter will be a quiet day . . . mom's mother died on an Easter Sunday and so it's been bittersweet since then. Have to have the bread though !

Good news Nico
The snow never showed last night ! But it's snowing now - but it's not sticking to the roads, only the grass. Hopefully that's the way it'll stay cause mom put the shovel away and doesn't want to dig it out again ! If I could only get my talons on that groundhog who promised us an early spring . . .
I have a new human friend ! The plumber ! We had a leaky pipe and when he got here to fix it, we found out he has a quaker too ! Cool huh ?

Oh dear Nico
Mom thought she was finished with the shoveling and now look ! Tomorrow into Thursday we're getting snow ! Some weather guessers are saying 3-5 inches and some are saying 10-14 - guess we'll just have to wait to see what happens !
So MISS NC is just looking at HER egg ? What a surprise that must have been for mom huh ? I guess what's important to all mom's is that we're healthy and happy :)

Hi Styron flock and momma Jean, when we awoke this morning we had new snow to the left and snow to the right, I mean snow was every where, and this was only round one of our latest storms! We are to get 4 to 7 inches more this afternoon and evening, and into tomorrow! We have not had a very harsh Winter, all things considered, but we are all getting fed up with the cold and white stuff! Some of our Michigan, Indiana, and Pennsylvania friends will be getting this crap about mid-week, we wish them well! Holy cow ! Eggs abound in your house ! ! ! The queen ? And a blue lady quaker huh ? Do you two get along ?
We're counting the days till spring ! It must be coming soon - the grackles are back and bullying the doves, the sun is out later in the afternoon and mom even saw a few crocuses peeking their heads out of the ground ! Of course the weather guessers are calling for "something" Tuesday night into Wednesday - hopefully it'll just be the kind that stays on the grass and trees cause mom says she's NOT shoveling another flake !

Your mama sure has her hands full !
You should see the fog this morning here ! I usually enjoy watching the wild birds out at the feeders while mom is at school - I can't see them today ! Mom is not looking forward to her drive to school either - and it's only 5 miles !
Today's book choice is all for us my friends - not for the parronts ! I have my own personal copy of this book that I like to "read" while mom is reading her books. I love to enjoy quiet reading time with mom and she loves it too. If you don't have it yet, rush right out and get your very own copy of THE PHONE BOOK !

I went over to introduce myself to the new flock members - they seem very sweet - how do you feel about them ? Or rather, how does the queen feel ?
We are so bitterly cold that mom is sitting here wondering if she has enough clothes to put on today to stay warm ! Boy am I glad I stay in the nice warm house !

I've been running my BOTM campaign. I'm focusing on books about birds and their humans . . . so your vote was appreciated.

Today's book is very close to my little green heart for a couple reasons - TANGO IN AMERICA by Steve Baldwin with Alison Evans-Fragale is about my wild quaker frothers in the USA. Tango is a young quaker looking for her father. During her search she faces many challenges and learns about life, love and growing up. Probably best categorized as a young adult book. Hello Nico !
I'm trying really hard to be good - not always easy ! I was walking around the other night and was heading for the pretty paper under the tree but mom caught me ! She scooped me right up and put me back on my playgym . . . rats !
Mom has only to get through school tomorrow and then she's on vacation till Jan. 2. We're baking on Sunday :) I'm hoping for a nut or a raisin - wings crossed !
Did you see the article on the front ? Quakers ruling the world ? Sounds like a good idea to me !

What a pleasant surprise
to see you on my perch - mom is having a hard time dealing with the Newtown CT tragedy - and tomorrow she has to go to school and face 26 ten year old and reassure them that they are safe ! I'm sure the Queen helped mom over her hump yesterday - plus all the quaker love !
We're almost ready for Christmas - I haven't ventured under the tree yet, but I think some of those packages have my name on them ! Last night after I was tucked in I heard mom wrapping something with bells !

Only this week and next till mom is on vacation ! We've decorated our tree and sent out our cards . . . I've been helping with the wrapping and I've been so good, mom has even let me have some scraps to decorate my cage with ! The only big thing left is some baking and because there seems to be a lack of self-control in the house (heehee) that won't happen till next weekend !

Well, I survived my torture session with the vet yesterday - when we got home I pouted and gave mom my most pathetic quaker looks. It worked ! I got lots of extra cuddles and attention and treats ! But, back to school today - and she has a busy week - report cards :( She never lets me help with those ! At least Thanksgiving is around the corner and she'll be home for the extra days :) I'm so happy the Queen has stolen mom's heart - and that mom is finally feeling better - it must be great to see her smile again :)

It is mighty cold here - 26 degrees when we got up . . . mom and dad are leaving early today so they can vote before work - mom is having a Halloween party for her class today since the kids missed out on it last week cause of the storm. They were supposed to be off while teahcers has inservice meetings but after last week's storm they have days to make up ! Hope yours is a good one and hope mom is feeling better :)

Those squawk-a-tiels are out and about again ! I tried to come visiting you last night and I couldn't get here ! The good news is mom was able to find a grocery store that was not only open but stocked so I won't have to share my pellets ! School finally opens again tomorrow so I'll have to hang out in my cage :( I've forgotten what that's like ! LOL

Thank you for your love and concern :) We were very lucky - yes, we lost power but only for about 22 hours and the outdoor temps stayed in the 50s so it never got TOOOO cold in here. I got to have a sleepover in mom's room since there are no trees on that side . . . She's been off from school for 3 days - don't know when she'll go back - roads are still closed for the clean i[ of the downed trees and power lines . . .

I HATE FLORIDA...... aunt vicki, the kids, and Jabber were suppose to be here last night. Grrrr. they ran in to a HUGH accident on I-95 and sat in a parking lot for over an hour. so by the time they got to the hotel, it was too late to make it here to see all of us. they will be here about 8 this morning, then we can start the fun and games.
