  Hi Darby
Oatie here. Hi. I'm a frother of Punkin. Shaggy said you dropped by his page the other day worried about putting pictures up. Sorry none of us got back to you but looks like you figured it out.
That fister Punkin is just taking over the computer something awful, but mom says not much longer and then the rest of us can have out computer time back. I know what it's like though but mine was only one day before I got to the castle. A WHOLE MONTH of getting votes! I'm sure glad mom is so loving to take down everything for us. hahaha
Did ya check our Punkin? She's still giving out hints for flowers we birds CAN EAT. Mom's trying them out on us and Sidney is the most adventurous to try them all so far. Fly by any time. Oh and here's what Punkin's got today......
Punkin here.
Broccoli Florets (Brassica oleracea) - The top portion of broccoli is actually flower buds. As the flower buds mature, each will open into a bright yellow flower, which is why they are called florets. Small yellow flowers have a mild spiciness (mild broccoli flavor), and are delicious in salads or in a stir-fry or steamer.
Pac Choy (Brassica chinensis) - A sister of the Broccoli plant.
Scarlet runner bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) Purple flowers tastes like beans. Annual; flower only last one to two days
Pineapple sage (Salvia elegans) Red flowers that are Sweet, fruity. Perennial; flavor has a hint of mint and spice

to see the pictures . . . whooo hooo LOVE THEM ! Make sure you wear your helmet when you ride the motorcycle - wouldn't want anything bad to happen !

I enjoy a good bath too ! You let mom take a picture with your butt in the air like that ? Never in this house - I HATE the camera ! I either hide or go into attack mode

vote for you

  Hi Darby
Punkin here. I'm a finch...I have frothers that are quakers. We want to welcome you to BC and to give you another vote. My I recommend you get a photo up ASAP or else you'll get a message from BC. You can choose just about any photo until your parront gets a better photo. Hey borrow one of my frothers pics. hahahahahahaha I do hope you will fly by and meet my flock.
I'm letting everybird know what kinds of flowers we can safely eat...you can even share with your parront if you want.

Let's see, Okay, here we are....most you bigger birds eat this stuff...Mom says it's probably different. Oh well, it's still Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius) - Its dried flowers, Mexican saffron, are used as a food colorant in place of the more aromatic and expensive Spanish saffron.

Pea Blossoms (Pisum species) - Edible garden peas bloom mostly in white, but may have other pale coloring. The blossoms are slightly sweet and crunchy and they taste like peas. The shoots and vine tendrils are edible, with a delicate, pea-like flavor. Here again, remember that harvesting blooms will diminish your pea harvest, so you may want to plant extra.

NOTE: Flowering ornamental sweet peas are poisonous - do not eat.

Sunflower (Helianthus annus) - The flower is best eaten in the bud stage when it tastes similar to artichokes. Once the flower opens, the petals may be used like chrysanthemums, the flavor is distinctly bittersweet. The unopened flower buds can also be steamed like artichokes.
