 You have heard the expression "empty nest", well we never really had one because there have always been pets in our home. However, Mom had always wanted to raise a blue&gold macaw. She knew I would take a great deal of her attention and time. So, while she was trying to be a good mother & wife at home and the best registered nurse possible at work, she spent her "extra" time researching us birds but resisted getting one. After all the kids were educated and out of the house and mom retired, she & dad decided it was time to fulfill her long held dream. After much searching, baby me was found at a breeder just outside Charleston SC. It was LOVE at first sight and now I can truly say, I "like calling North Carolina home"......... |

Mom loves to go to Ocracoke so she knows Swansboro. We stay at home b/c she does not want us to open the car door (we pick our locks all the time) and fly away!

Did you knw, The Monk Parakeet, also known as the Quaker Parrot, (Myiopsitta monachus) is a .... There are now thought to be approximately 100000 in Florida alone. I sure would like to see that. Would be so cool. Wonder where they are.Come visit me, Screech & Roof Top.

It's nice to meet you. We're a pair of frother 'tiels. Saw your comment on beak-to-beak. Here's some info for you:
Have you visited the Calendar page? #190654. It's run by Sugar. Her page is #145943. (Your page is #212658.)
To run for BOTD another bird will send your nomination to Sugar and she'll schedule you a date to run for BOTD and if you get the most votes on that day you will win BOTD and get a new badge and lots of new friends. The Calendar page will tell you who is running each day for BOTD. Today is an open day as there is no bird signed up, so whatever bird gets the most votes today will be tomorrow's BOTD.
BOTM is much the same as BOTD. Except you have to be the bird that receives the most votes in a month, and usually the BOTM-elect will do some sort of a campaign to get votes. The nominations for BOTM go to the BOTM Calendar page #144395 and is run by Kiddo at page #7592.
An easy way to get to the different pages is to just change the current # in the top address box to the page number you want to visit. Simply backspace past the current number and put the new number and then hit enter and you're at another page! Does that make sense?
