the hummingbirds re still coming to the feeders but their numbers have slowed down. mom just made a new batch of nectar which should last about a month. we have seen hummingbirds come as late as November. not many but they must be stragglers coming from the north. we got a light sprinkle of rain during the night but we need a lot more.

  Hi Sam
Mom has seen a lot of birds at the center that she has never seen in the wild, or at least hasn't seen up close. It's not surprising that your folks may not have seen them either.
Mom got to the pool yesterday for an absolutely glorious summer day. Today it's supposed to thunder and rain, but it is looking good so far. Of course, this is Pittsburgh where the weather can change in 10 minutes. People around here can have the heat on in the morning, then the AC on for the afternoon, and umbrellas out for the evening.
We don't have a lot to write, hope you are having a great summer day and getting lots of cuddles and sunshine. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
I hear you will meet Aunt Rose with Dixie, Kallie, and Candida! We bet you will have a great visit, and really enjoy the company.
This morning mom had a terrible time signing on to BC. It took at least a dozen tries from everywhere on the computer but we're here now!
We got a big surprise yesterday, thanks Uncle Chuck! Mom says they match the kitchen perfectly! And we love our new toys, too.
Well, Aunt Rose is on her way to meet us soon, and we know she's meeting lots of BC folks on the way here, too. It sounds like the ideal vacation to us.
It looks like a perfect summer day here, so we know where mom will be. At least for the afternoon, that is. Later on, she's ours. Tomorrow morning John comes to fix the wall for the backsplash and install the new floor. Mom told him to be here well before noon, so she can go to the pool, hahaha!
I hope you are having a great summer day with lots of good weather and cuddles, too. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Sam
HAPPY TGIF DAY
vulture populations are plummeting in Africa
Africa's eight vulture species have declined in number by an average of 62 percent during the last 30 years. vultures are one of nature's most important scavengers—a flock can strip a carcass in a matter of minutes.these natural recyclers, which breed slowly and need years to mature, could be extinct in Africa in the next 50 to 100 years.

poisoning from eating pesticide-laced carcasses caused as many as 60 percent of the vulture deaths recorded since the 1970s.When a large predator such as a lion kills livestock, a farmer will sometimes sprinkle poison on the carcass to kill the predator in retaliation, Vultures usually get to the corpse first. They die after eating the pesticide-laced carcasses intended for lions and other predators. Pesticides are poorly regulated in Africa, and sold as "lion killer" . many farmers don't know what the chemicals are really used for.vultures have largely disappeared from commercial farming areas where pesticide are used

Vultures often collide with the wind turbines and are crushed or are electrocuted by power lines

Vultures are also also targets for poachers, who sell their parts to people who use witchcraft. The birds are known for their tremendous eyesight, and many believe their body parts can be used to see into the future.Their brains are ground to snuff by witch doctors who believe the substance has magical powers.

The scavengers also die after feeding on carcasses left behind by poachers. Illegal hunters poison the corpses to throw off law enforcement, which use circling vultures as a beacon for illegal activity.500 dead vultures were found surrounding a pesticide-laden elephant carcass poachers had poisoned leaving the bodies to rot. terrorists groups are profiting the most from poaching affording them lucrative profits to buy guns and bombs

  Hi Sam
That always happens, though, it gets hot once the kids go back to school.
Today mom cleaned the avian nursery at the center. There were the usual suspects in there, pigeons, mourning doves, robins, sparrows, etc., but there were also some cool different birds; a couple of mockingbirds, a killdeer, a catbird, and a crow. It was a busy morning, and when she got home, it was warm enough to go to the pool, so that's where she spent the afternoon. Now she's ours for the rest of the day, YAY!
Still no word about the counter tops, and mom is really getting frustrated. She so hoped it would be done by now. John is coming to put the floor in and get the wall ready for the backsplash on Sunday, so that's some progress at least.
I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of good weather and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

There's not much to report on today. Mom went to the gym and swam indoors again yesterday, since it never got out of the 60s here. Today she is getting a haircut, then later going out to dinner with her sister.
No news on the kitchen: the floor isn't in yet, and neither are the counter tops, so the tile isn't in place yet either. It's still taking up residence on the dining room table.
I hope you are having a fun day, getting in some summer sunshine and lots of love. Hugs, Willie

Those guys are still working outside in the yard. Hope they are finished today.
Mom got the filler piece for the kitchen, let the guy know, but he doesn't think he'll make it until next week. Mom is now resigned to the fact that the kitchen may not get done in time for company. The floor, the counter tops, and the backsplash still need to be installed, and the floor isn't in yet. Oh well, we can still enjoy our company, since we'll be running around, hopefully, and seeing the sights here in town.
Mom swam yesterday in the indoor pool, since it wasn't very warm outside. It never got into the 70s yesterday. Today it's supposed to get to 70, so it still looks like another indoor swim kind of day.
I hope you are having a great summer day with lots of good weather and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

Michael Vick has just been signed with the steelers football team.

Vick served 21 months in federal prison after he admitted in 2007 that he had operated a dog fighting ring at a farm he owned in Virginia.
Vick admitted in 2007 to keeping dozens of dogs for a dog fighting ring. Federal authorities say many were badly abused and some brutally executed
Federal authorities seized 70 dogs, mostly pit bulls. Many of them showed signs of severe neglect and abuse. Authorities allege he and his friends had brutally executed several other dogs

the disgraced NFL quarterback also neglected his pet birds, allowing one to starve to death and another to go without food and water.
Vick left one exotic bird in its cage to die of starvation and nearly allowed a second to succumb to the same fate. Vick, he had a beautiful pet bird named Junior that he allowed the roam around his mansion.'Mike decided that the home he lived in at the time was too small for someone of his stature purchased a home in the same neighborhood that was more suitable to the growing size of his bank account,'
Weeks later, after he moved into the new house the star football player at his new Atlanta mansion, but Junior the bird was nowhere to be found.
he hadn’t moved everything out of the old house and when he went back over there to check on things, Junior was still there and in his bird cage, dead'
'They had treated Junior like he was just another piece of furniture that they could just set aside and move at a later date.Vick said because he was an Atlanta Falcon player, fans were always trying to give him birds, and so Junior was no big loss.'
a second bird, a Cockatoo called Crystal, was in its cage without food or water at his home. the bird was later adopted even though Vick told her he wanted it back when he got out of prison.

  Hi Sam
The bee-harming pesticides we've been fighting for years are worse than we imagined. Research suggests that neonicotinoids aren't just decimating bee colonies -- they're hurting birds too. Researchers found that in areas with high concentrations of neonicotinoids, bird populations declined every year. This means our worst fears are coming true -- neonicotinoids may be moving up the food chain and killing our birds and our bees.
For the sake of the birds, the bees, and the whole food chain, we are challenging one of the biggest neonicotinoids producers of them all: Bayer. It's not just the bees anymore. Neonicotinoids are killing our birds too. It's time to get Bayer to stop producing these chemicals. We already knew that bees, insects, and small creatures that consume neonics are facing a decline in population. Bayer's neonicotinoids are even more harmful: Birds that eat food that consumed neonics are dying too. researchers searched extensively for any other outside cause that could account for the declines: urbanization, other environmental factors, land use changes. They couldn't find one. The only plausible explanation? Bee-harming neonicotinoids. Bayer is trying to write off this scientific study. Because for companies like Bayer, profits trump saving our food chain. By speaking up, we're changing the equation for these companies and making sure they protect the bees. Here's the scary part about all this: until more research is done, there's no way to tell how far up the food chain neonics can reach.major American retailers Home Depot and Lowe's have stop selling neonics. Bayer's lawsuit against the EU for banning this chemical is being challanged-- over a million of us have spoken out against the lawsuit. We've made a lot of progress together, but we're far from done.

There are some guys from the borough digging in the back at the bottom of a cliff, into some sewers. They came and knocked on the door this morning to let mom know what was going on. When she got back from the center, they were sitting on the bench in the yard and hadn't tried to go down the cliff yet.
Not much new here today. Mom did the recovery room today, and there were just turtles, ducks, and pigeons in there, so no big thrill. The wood turtle is so handsome, with his orange body and pretty eyes. The snapping turtle let mom pick him up out of his pond so she could change the water, too. She usually has good luck with snappers, though. This afternoon mom and her sister are going to Olympic gym to sign up for a month of swimming. It should stretch out the summer for a few more weeks, at least.
Update: mom had a great time at the pool, now to get ready for dinner with Gene and Aunt Ginny.
I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of sunshine, warm weather, and love. Hugs, Willie

It was also good to see the new faces there. Thanks to Kiddo, Sweetpepper, Taz, Kaji and Lizzie, and Sam for the great time. The Scruffy birds played great beach songs, they sounded fantastic.
Today is looking like another pool day (yay), and the last whole day until next weekend. The rest of the week they will open at 3:30 when the kids are out of school. Mom and her sis are thinking of joining the Olympic for a month. It's a local gym that has both indoor and outdoor pools, and Mary, the owner, keeps the outdoor pool open as long as she can through September, and sometimes even into October.

Yes, without a shot, the dilation went away by about 3 and she was okay to work.
John painted the kitchen last night, and mom unwrapped one of the tiles to see how it looked. It's a nearly perfect match with the light blue! He also put up a new LED light fixture. He thinks mom will never have to change that light in her life, from what it says on the package. Mom has a refund coming from the counter people, but she has to go to Home Depot to show them her credit card again. She may buy more LED lights when she goes, because they are really bright and environmentally friendly.
Today and tomorrow look like pool days, though. They are the last whole days of pool time until next weekend, so mom will take advantage. There is a local Greek restaurant where she and her sis will go tonight, too. That means we won't have our out of cage time until after dinner, but we'll get it then.
I hope you are having a perfect summer day, getting lots of sunshine and love. Hope to see you tonight at the milonga! Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
HAPPY TGIF DAY
every spring and early summer we hear birds singing at about 3am. mom never knew why they were singing until she found out they were whip-poor-wills

the Eastern Whip-poor-will is rarely seen due to its excellent camouflage. This member of the nightjar family is named for its haunting, onomatopoeic song, which has inspired folk legends and artists from Robert Frost to Elton John. the nightly chorus of “whips” is heard less and less often each spring as forests are lost to agriculture and development. Since Whip-poor-wills often forage close to roads, they are also vulnerable to collisions with cars. Declines in their prey from pollution and pesticide use have also affected this insect-eating bird.

One New England legend says the Whip-poor-will can sense a person's soul departing, and capture it as it leaves. Native American lore considered the singing of these birds a death omen. The only things whips actually capture are insects. They are consummate aerial foragers, consuming large quantities of beetles, moths, and other insects each night — a process that is aided by a large, wide mouth, or “gape.” Strictly nocturnal, the birds are most active at dawn and dusk and on bright, moonlit nights.

Eastern Whip-poor-wills nest on the ground in a scrape of dead leaves, usually laying two eggs at a time. They sit tight on the nest and will rarely flush unless almost stepped upon.the hatching of Whip-poor-will chicks appears to be closely tied to the lunar cycle: Most hatch a few days before a full moon. This strategy may have evolved to allow the adult birds to forage all night during the full moon, enabling them to catch enough insects to support their chicks.

Eastern Whip-poor-will populations have experienced steep declines, and the species was one of several added to the 2014 State of the Birds Watch List.

Today is a great day, sunny and warm, perfect pool weather! Mom went there after the wildlife center. At the center, she had to clean turtle pens and waterfowl pens. There are 5 outdoor waterfowl pens, 3 with geese and 2 with ducks. One of the little ducks got out when mom opened the door. She tried to catch it, but couldn't. Of course, it was the one day mom was outside without a walkie talkie, so she had to go back to the building to get help. With 2 people it's fairly easy to wrangle a duck. They got her back in with her buddies and it all worked out, but mom has learned to check her pocket and make sure that walkie is in there from now on.
Mom came home from the pool a little early to be here when John came to paint. He's bought a new light fixture and will install that today, too! It has an LED light in it, so it shouldn't need changing any time soon. By tonight there should be a coat or 2 of paint on the walls and a new light in the kitchen. Mom is sort of sorry to see the old one go, because it's a fan and light, but the fan doesn't clear the top cabinets, and mom is just the person to break both the fan and the cabinet door by opening it when the fan is running. She and John figured it's safer to lose it!
I hope you are having a wonderful summer day, getting lots of good weather and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
my last little tidbit from the 1500's
England is old and small and the local folks started running out of places to bury people, so they would dig up coffins and would take the bones to a bone-house and reuse the grave. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realised they had been burying people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, thread it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift) to listen for the bell; thus someone could be, ''Saved by the Bell ''or was considered a ''Dead Ringer'' And that's the truth. Whoever said history was boring ! ! !

  Hi Sam
In the 1500's, they cooked in the kitchen with a big kettle that always hung over the fire. Every day they lit the fire and added things to the pot. They ate mostly vegetables and did not get much meat. They would eat the stew for dinner, leaving leftovers in the pot to get cold overnight, then start over the next day. Sometimes stew had food in it that had been there for quite a while. Hence the rhyme: ''Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold, peas porridge in the pot, nine days old''. Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over they would hang up their bacon, to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, "Bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around talking and ''chew the fat''.Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning and death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered
poisonous.Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or ''The Upper Crust''.
Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of ''Holding a Wake''.

  Hi Sam
Today is really muggy and cloudy. Mom was awakened about 5:30 by Daisy whining and pacing in her crate. Sure enough, the thunderclaps started soon after that. It was a fast moving storm, though, which left behind a bunch of humidity. Mom went to Better Feeds this morning to buy wild bird food, then to PetSmart to get doggie treats and a new bed for Daisy. (When she did the laundry on Saturday, one of the crate cushions came apart.) After that, she headed to Trader Joe's for the mint teabags she uses for iced tea. $97 later she came home with the tea and a 'few' other things. She thought she could get to the pool, but it started to rain, so she put the car away and is now doing our notes.
The guy came by for his power tools this morning. While he was here, mom asked him about the molding for the bottom of some of the cabinets and getting shelves out of the piece that's left. He told her he would return any uncut pieces to Home Depot for a refund, as well as cutting 2 shelves for the pantry cabinet and supplying the brackets or whatever to mount them. Mom was pleasantly surprised.
We also got an email that says the tiles have shipped!!! YAY, mom can't wait to see them up close.
I hope you are having a great day, good weather, good cuddles, and great scritches. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
we had a heck of a time trying to get on bird channel tonight

more true facts from the 1500's

Houses had thatched roofs, thick straw piled high, with no wood underneath. It was the only place for animals to get warm, so all the cats and other small animals (mice, bugs) lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying "It's raining cats and dogs." There was nothing to stop things from falling into the house. This posed a real problem in the bedroom, where bugs and other droppings could mess up your nice clean bed. Hence, a bed with big posts and a sheet hung over the top afforded some protection. That's how canopy beds came into existence. The floor was dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence the saying, "dirt poor." The wealthy had slate floors that would get slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on floor to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on they added more thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slipping outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entrance. Hence: a thresh hold.

  Hi Sam
Here are some facts about the 1500’s:

Most people got married in June, because they took their yearly bath in May and they still smelled pretty good by June. However, since they were starting to smell, brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odour. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.

Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose
someone in it. Hence the saying, "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water!"

i got my bath today so i am not stinky.

Thanks to Aunt Rose for my new pic! I guessed the theme at Name that Tune.
John and his son (Mom's nephew and grand nephew) are here installing the microwave and patching the walls that need done. He will be able to put a shelf into the empty pantry and hooks on the wall of the basement stairs for brooms and mops. Mom thought they would fit in the empty pantry, but they don't. John said he could put a shelf or 2 in there so mom has a space for her mixer, and possibly the canisters, too.
Mom has everything back in there except for the things that go under the sink. She figures she'll put that stuff back when the counter top and sink are installed.   Hi Sam
for the next few day we will be posting these because we found them interesting. hope you enjoy it.

1)There is an old Hotel/Pub in Marble Arch, London, which used to have a gallows adjacent to it. Prisoners were taken to the gallows (after a fair trial of course) to be hanged. The horse-drawn dray, carting the prisoner, was accompanied by an armed guard, who would stop the dray outside the pub and ask the prisoner if he would like ''ONE LAST DRINK''. If he said YES, it was referred to as ONE FOR THE ROAD. If he declined, that prisoner was ON THE WAGON.

2)They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot and then once a day it was taken and sold to the tannery. If you had to do this to survive you were "piss poor", but worse than that were the really poor folk, who couldn't even afford to buy a pot, they "Didn't have a pot to piss in" and were the lowest of the low.

The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be.

love Cori

  Hi Sam
Mom is almost finished with putting kitchen stuff away, but there was a bit more stuff than she thought. Hopefully we think it will get done today. Laundry is also started (finally). Even the dogs' blankies need washed.
Yesterday mom watered with the can again, because of another unintended consequence of the kitchen work: the guys must have been using her little connector hose that goes between the big hose caddy and the spigot, and they left it on the garage floor rather than draping it over the outlet. Mom didn't know it was there, and ran over the end with her car when she backed in, so now she has to go buy another one before she can use the long hose to water.
Gene has arrived from Germany, and will be here for a few weeks. Mom is glad he has an apartment to live in, it would be really hard to be a hostess right now!
It looks like a great pool day today, and mom's daughter and sister are coming over later to see what's been done so far in the kitchen, so we're keeping this short so she can get in some time outside.
I hope you are having a great day, full of fun and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
mom hasn't found any new pee spots from the cat. he is fighting her tooth and nail over getting his meds. mom finally decided to take a break today and go to the pool because it was 87 and sunny outside. she gets to the pool and decided to go into the water and suddenly an announcement is made that the pool will be closed for an hour do to a doody spotted floaing in it. it seems every time mom has gone to the pool it is closed because of floating doodies. mom got so hot sitting there she came home.

later in the afternoon mom had us out on the porch and was amazed at seeing 4 hummingbirds fighting over the nectar feeder. she also has a feeder in the back and they were flying around there also. for the past few years mom has only seen 1 lone hummingbird at the feeder.

I think I have it covered but do you want to step in if I dont have a birde to be there?

Stormy is already signed up for the booth with 9-21 to 10-5-15. Dad had to look over the list twice (like that fat bird in the red suite we only see once a year in Dec.) to see Stormys name & put one & one together.

  Hi Sam
The stove and microwave came today, but mom's nephew can't install it until Sunday. His son is working open to close at his job today and tomorrow, so he won't be available to help until then. He is going to paint next week, and of course, the flooring is on order, so should be here in 7 to 10 days. The counter folks are coming on Wednesday to measure, and the counters will take another 7 to 10 days. It's coming together slowly. It will take mom awhile to put everything away, and it's starting to look like she better purge more stuff she doesn't use all that often. It seems like more cabinet space, so we can't figure out how everything fit into the old spaces so much better, haha.
I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of good summer weather and cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
the old vet practice had avian vets not the one mom went to yesterday. they recommended a avian vet so mom will have to call them when she needs them. in the meantime she will go down and get all our bird records from the vet that excommunicated us. the vet today told mom most of the kitties problems are because of old age like atrophying kidneys. will not know all until results come back from the lab on blood and urine. other than that the cat appears healthy and might very well be acting out because his best friend our doggie is no longer with us. well the vet called again today and told mom to bring our other cat in for shots. she also is sending out the tests for the other cat because she has questions about the lab results so he is on a probiotic and clavamox and a new kidney diet. total bill for 2 days at the vet $500.no wonder mom is always broke both cats are doing well tonight. its really a pain getting pills and antibiotics down the sick kitty. mom wraps him up like a burrito so he can't struggle as much. moms day was ruined when a older woman asked mom in the grocery store if she was 80. mom knows she looks older especially when she sees herself in the mirror but she didn't know she looked that old. she told the woman at the vets office about what the woman said to her as she picked up 2 cases of cat food her cat in the carrier and her purse and the vet tech told mom not bad for some one who is 80 and they both laughed.

  Hi Sam
It sounds like mom made a good choice with the slate Pergo then, with that little blue tinge, it will go well with the rest of the kitchen.
So they're not done yet. Mom was so excited to see a temporary sink installed yesterday she thought she could water the plants again. Well, the sink was there, but there was no water! They put in a little plywood counter too, but it's unusable, because it's rough. That's okay, mom uses cutting boards for us anyway. Also, the kitchen light bulb blew out, so that needed replaced today, but the workers did it. Mom is grateful because she always has to climb a step ladder to do that.
Anyway, they're back today and will hopefully finish up. Then the counter top people have to come in and measure everything so that will take another few weeks, I guess.
Mom went to get her nails done yesterday, and they told her it's been a couple of months! She was really surprised, because she was thinking she got them done last month. They are pretty in purple now, though, so that should do for the rest of the swimming season. She told them she has been at the pool so hasn't had time for the nails.
Our neighbor gave us some peppers which the boys and Maxine are chomping on, and some tomatoes which mom hopes she can have later (when the guys leave and we have water). I hope you are having a great day today and getting some good summer weather and lots of cuddles. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
Mom was so upset! She didn't know what Suisham was doing in a preseason game anyway, he shouldn't have even played. To lose him for the season, and maybe forever, it just doesn't seem right. With all the new defensive guys and a new kicker, it might not be our best year. It looks like they signed another kicker yesterday, but it won't be the same.
Well, mom and her nephew got together last night and decided on a slate looking Pergo for the floors. That's laminate, but it's going to look like slate flooring. They also went with a pale blue paint for the walls. He will be here Friday or Saturday to hook up the stove, mount the microwave under the cabinet, and paint. If the flooring is in by then, he will also install it. He measured the space between the cabinets and the counter and told mom she needs more ceramic tile, since these cabinets are mounted higher than the old ones were. So she's calling LaFuente today and ordering more. They can't really be done until the counter top is in anyway.
At this point, we're looking for a nice looking step stool or ladder for mom, too, since some of the shelving is so high. Of course, those areas will be used to store stuff we don't use often, seasonal platters and such.
The guys doing the cabinet installation will be done today, they say. Mom likes the look so far, it's pretty nice. We haven't watered for a few days, though, as it now entails carrying a watering can up and down the steps from the bathroom on the second floor, and mom doesn't trust herself not to spill or drop it on the steps.
It's a bit cooler today so far, but pretty out there. I hope you are having a good day, with lots of nice summer weather and love coming your way. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
today is world elephant day. Poaching has reached unprecedented levels, which some believe could wipe elephants out entirely within the next 10 years if it continues at its current rate. a few things you can do to celebrate elephants .1.dont buy ivory. 2 support elephant sanctuaries. our last name is Gelfand which translated means elephant.

  Hi Sam
Wow, that's a long drive to go to a party! Hope the party was a lot of fun!
Well, the kitchen is totally empty except for the refrigerator. That's the only thing mom kept, except for the light fixture. That might have to go, too, if the fan blades are too wide when they put the cabinets in.
This morning was an adventure in finding space and utensils to feed all of us. Mom used her big cutting board for the fruits and veggies, and a large pitcher for water for us and the dogs. She didn't have her morning tea, though. There was no place to heat the water. We got our fresh foods, and the dogs got fed as well. Our yesterday's dishes are drying on the sink in the bathroom with the cutting board and knife. The guys are here now, so mom is hoping to see the cabinets up today at least. They are also supposed to hook up a temporary sink.
If the skies don't clear up, mom will be going for a manicure/pedicure today, but if it gets nicer, the pool is a good place to spend the afternoon. I hope you are having a great day, getting lots of good weather and love. Hugs, Willie

  Hi Sam
People also had the option to go to the movie, then leave, but again, bugs come out to bite after dark.
Yesterday was a great day to be in the sun at the pool. One of mom's friends who had been away came back and shared her vacation pics of Italy and Scotland. Her son got married at a villa in Italy, and it was her first trip abroad. She made the most of it! They traveled to Venice and Florence while they were there. She also brought mom a little bag of candy from Rivoire, possibly the best chocolatiers on earth! Mom had given her some travel tips and told her what was good to see and wouldn't be too crowded in Florence while they were there, so this was a little thank you. She said the best tip mom gave her was to pick up her bags in Toronto, no matter what the airline said about them being checked through. Otherwise, they might get to Italy without the bags (and wedding clothes). Mom shared the candy with all the people she sits with, and everyone enjoyed a piece.
Today looks like another perfect summer day. Mom can't wait to get out of the house, because her dining room is a disaster zone and the kitchen is empty, or nearly so. She figures they can wheel the microwave cart out when they come tomorrow. I hope you are having a wonderful day filled with kisses and cuddles. Hugs, Willie
