Somebody was giving me away. She just left me on her porch when it was in the 50s and raining. It took about two - three months for me to get used to the people. They thought I wasn't going to make it!

DJ LUIGI here to tell everybirdy that I will be running for BOTM starting tomorrow. I wanted to greet all of you unique birds. I am a peach-faced lovebird, even childish but with a caring heart I gained from my mom. Through this message I send to each one of you wonderful birds, I wanted to thank the ones who helped my throughout this new year for gaining confidence in myself. I also thank the ones who helped me achieve my 500 mark to participate for BOTM. My reason to run BOTM is not for the winning, but for the message I bring to each one of you throughout the campaign. I also came to mention that the month of may is the month where mom is very busy with her schoolwork, where assignments and summatives are due. Very clumsy of me to pick may but however, I will continue with my campaign and thank the birds everyday for the votes. Although I may not most times respond your questions other than voting, it doesn't mean I quit on you, it simply means that mom is very busy but I will blog back "thanks for the vote! SPOTLIGHT on CARING-TAZ part 3
Hi SKY here with part 3 of our interview with TAZ, the PROCTOR FLOCK and their mom GAIL. SKY; Do you volunteer somewhere,or speak to people about birds
Mom GAIL; I don’t volunteer anywhere as there is no place near us. I do volunteer to take my birds (mainly Simon and Scooby) to local elementary schools. I do have a funny story about Simon while at an elementary school…we all were moving our birds from classroom to classroom and my husband, Burt, was carrying Simon and I was a head of them in the hallway when Simon decided he wanted to be with me and not Burt so he flew out of Burt’s hand toward me when he overshot me and failed to stop or turn before he got to the wall and crash (he wasn’t hurt…he’s pretty hard headed in more ways than one). Nothing else was hurt or damaged so we continued on to the next classroom, when we got home we got a call from the school about Simon…he was not welcome back unless he had his wings clipped or was wearing a harness. Since neither of those was going to happen he never went back to that school. We tell everyone that he got kicked out of school…hehe
Scooby loves to go to and see the kids and the kids love him. Spotlight on CARING-Taz part 4
HELLO all, SKY BOY here with the continuing interview with our good friends TAZ, The PROCTOR FLOCK and Mom Gail SKY; Tell me about the birds in your flock? Are any rescues?
MOM GAIL; TWEETY our first fid passed away on New Year's Day 2005, she was 11 years old. She was a very sweet girl and she is missed.
TAZ is the only planned fid in our flock Taz, we found him at a breeders about 180 miles away. We decided on a citron cockatoo after doing a lot of research on them. He was only a couple of months old when we first saw him and of course we fell in love with him. He stayed there until he was 6 months and then he joined our flock. He is a joy but he is also a challenge. He used to be strictly a mama’s boy but around 10 years ago he decided that in the mornings he is a papa’s boy but in the evening he loves me. If I am in the room as well as Burt then his mission is to get rid of me. He is a planner; he plans and figures out the best way to get me. I have been bitten quite badly a few times and Burt was almost ready to remove him from the flock but I would never let that happen. Burt would never really do that but in the moment that he saw me bitten he was just very upset. We have a system figured out so that we are not in the bird room together when Taz is out. He is such an intelligent fellow; it is amazing to watch him. He loves wood and will go through a toy in less than a day so we need to have lots and lots of wood around for him.
TJ was next to join, Burt saw him in the local pet store sitting in a small cage looking very sad…Burt is a sucker for a sad face so he bought him and surprised me. I took him to our vet and had all the tests done as I had a bad feeling about him. He was with us for a short nine months. One day after his quarantine was over I noticed that he had some discharge coming from one of his nares so off to the vet we went. The vet did a culture and came back and the result was Pseudomonas so he gave me the medicine to treat him. TJ was none too fond of being toweled for his medicine but over all he did great. I had to flush his nares as well. He appeared to be over it and was doing well. About a month later I noticed discharge coming from the same nare again. Off to the vet and more tests were taken and this time the vet came back with a diagnoses of Aspergillus so more medicine for TJ to take. I followed the vet's instructions but started to think that things were not right so I called to talk to the vet and could not get a hold of him but the tech said to continue the meds as they all needed to be taken to be effective. I gave TJ his next dose but shortly after he was convulsing on the bottom of his cage so I called Burt and we took him to the emergency vet and unfortunately TJ did not make it. They tried to save him but it was not to be. I felt very guilty about that and blamed myself for his death, I still do.

Hi guys~
I hope your day is going great! I have to apologize for not getting around as much as I should. Things got a bit busy and unfortunately, my social time is suffering!
Who knew humans could have so much stuff that needs going thru!!!
Dad took over the storage room so now there is lots of stuff that needs to be put somewhere else or tossed. The whole process is taking much longer than we thought it would. I have suggested that we only keep my toys and anything we need to use for food and toss everything else! Nope! None of that stuff was in the storage room but I think it would be a good thing for all of us to downsize! Toys and food are the most important things so we definately need to keep that stuff! I suppose the dog, the cat and the turtles can stay too!
I'm enjoying my apple right now and enjoying the view from the window. Yes! I have sunshine! It is going to be lovely for the next few days. The way it works up here is that the weekdays are lovely and when the weekend gets here the rain will come back! It's sorta like mother nature likes to tease us!

Hi Zippers
Good morning. We will be blogging Tuesdays instead of Wednesday because the parront now has something to do on Wednesdays. It has been raining lately. The airport is slow. She only works 25 hours a week now. Oki and I have been free more time however when she is at home she is doing household shores. She is always busy. Oki and I spent most of the time preening our feathers.

Mom GAIL;When we got back from Hawaii we started doing a lot of research on parrots, especially cockatoos. While doing that research a friend of ours had a little cockatiel named Tweety that they wanted to find a home for since his wife was pregnant and they didn’t think it was safe to have her around bird poop, so Tweety was our first bird and we were hooked. This week we are blogging earlier, yes today is Tuesday not Wednesday. The parront will stay home today after she comes back from the community club where she is using the computer to do our blogs heee... The weather remains in the 80 range. The airport is slow. How are u sweetie? Hope u are having a great day! Mom is sooooo tickled that she figured out how to C&P from her cell! U see, mom is very technologically challenged, so it's a big deal to her! It's like giving a child a new toy! Hehe! It sure beats having to sit at the computer for a long period of time!
The Milonga was a lot of fun! I was silent most of the time tho, mom fell asleep & I was left without a typist!
It is after 7pm EDT & I'm just beginning to send out my blogs! Lately my mom has been struck with severe fatigue to the point it's hard for her to function, which is all part of MS. Her neurologist is putting her on a new med. Once the insurance company approves it, she hopes to get some relief. I don't like mom napping on my time!
Mmmm mom gave me some apple cranberry oatmeal for dinner! I LOVE oatmeal! I ate it until I couldn't hold another bite, spoon fed by mom of course! Have a good night & see u tomorrow!
I spoke to my BBFF Snowflake yesterday. She's sad & down in the dumps coz she hasn't heard from her beloved Peekaboo for awhile. I told her his momma is probably busy with school!

Good morning. Today is Sunday. Its church day for us. The parront will be going to church in the morning and then will go to work, she will be home by 630PM.All that means cage confinement for us for the whole day. What a boring bird life!.......... See you tomorrow.

How are u sweetie? Mom is sooooo excited! Momma Deb recently taught her how to C&P, & mom just figured out that she can do this from her cell phone! Now there better not be any excuses why I can't send a blog to each & everyone of my birdie friends each & everyday! I hope to see u at the Milonga tonight!
