How are the eggs doing?? I hope all is well and that you get lots of beautiful babies! My friend Popeye just had 2 baby love bird additions to thier flock. We got to see pictures over the past few months and it is amazing how quickly they grow up!!

I saw ur blog on the calendar page. I hope u are doing well. I bet it was a bit of a surprise to ur parronts to find out. U are a girl!
I see that u do not like noise. I, on the other hand, LOVE noise! Probably because I am a macaw & am the loudest thing in our home! I bark more than our 2 dogs put together!! I happen to LOVE the hair dryer! After my showers, mom always gives me a blow dry. I sing & squeal the entire time! Mom always tells me that I don't have a clue that I'm a bird...I think that I'm a people-kid! Well Chico, I hope u will visit me sometime.

Hello, every birdie, Sky here with your Sunday blog. With Thanksgiving just days away for those of you in the US, I think it's fitting that I ask every birdie to think of one thing they are thankful for. I will be writing a special blog for Thanksgiving on , "The Thankfulness of BIRDS", so think of that one special thing, and let me know before Tuesday.
Today, we visit The Oasis Sanctuary( OS), home to 600 plus birds of all species, located 50 miles east of Tuscon, Arizona in Benson, a small quiet rural town. There official opening on this location was in 1997. There, on 71 acres sits the very first non-profit rescue established in the USA. Founded by Sybil Erden, The O.S. is a permanent, life care facility, home to birds deemed unadoptable for various reason. O.S. works as a referral to other bona fid adoption programs across the country for birds that can be rehomed.
The birds, mostly parrots, Cockatoos, Macaws and other psittacine species are housed in large, natural free-flights. The Macaws share a 100'X40'X17.5' flight. Other smaller, 40'X40'X13.5' flights house African Greys, Amazons etc. There is a 1300sq. foot building that serves as home to "special needs birds."
The Oasis Sanctuary continues on the donations and support of private as well as some corporate sponsors. There is an amazing " sponsor-a bird" program in place where you can donate to the care and feeding of any bird from a Budgie to Macaw, large Cockatoo and everything between. As well as yearly memberships.
The O.S. works hand-in-hand with other bird rescues, to educate the public in correct, responsible bird ownership & care." The important message being that birds are NOT domesticated pets like dogs or cats but wildlife held in captivity. There is a need for respect, and an understanding that no matter how many years a bird has lived in captivity it is still in possession of its wild traits and instincts. You can share your life with them but never own them."
The Oasis Sanctuary is open for tours by appointment only. It is an amazing place, well worth the drive to see free flighted parrots interacting with one another.

King Pepper's Acceptance Speech!
Feathered friends, well-wishers & loyal voters, I thank you!
I took this long-awaited opportunity to impress upon my staff the necessity of allowing me free access to the peanut bag. Would they dare deny a king?
I also rung in my reign on my special bell, not only because I am the only one who can do it properly but because no one had better touch it or else!
I continued to do so vigorously throughout the day just in case those in my domain should forget the occasion or have the presumption to pay attention to anything else!
While I should have liked to use my exalted position to further my designs upon that other bird's (Poirot) possessions & territory, so far my attempts have a flop (literally) I will have to wait till my wings are able to further my purpose. Next time he'd better watch out...

Thanks for stopping by and for the vote. Hope you had a nice weekend. I had to spend most of the day yesterday in my cage because Mum and Dad took Simon to visit nursing homes and they stayed in a motel overnight. Sometimes they take me along, but I cant go into the homes, so dad usually stays at the motel with me while Mum takes Simon visiting. I dont know why the decided to leave me behind this trip, but I am not happy about it. Now Mum is trying to make up to me and I am ignoring her. I wouldnt even take a walnut from her. I did snatch up that walnut after she put it in my food bowl, but I refuse to take anything from her. I dont stay mad long though, lucky for her. Well I must go now and stretch my wingers sfter being in a cage all day long.
