 When we decided to get a bird, we went to the breeder's and I fell in love with Butterball. However, she wasn't for sale because the breeder was positive she was a he, and she desperately wanted a cinnamon yellow cheek male for her bloodlines. So, we got Annie that day, and never regretted it!
Six months later... I became acquainted with a Saudi princess through my job. This princess is a bird lover. When she found out we only had Annie, she was adamant that we HAD to have another cockatiel because "no bird should be alone!" She insisted on buying us another bird.
So, back to the breeder's. My first question was, did Butterball turn out to be a male? She said no, the DNA test proved she was a female. I said, "Oh, she's for sale then!" I managed to beg and wheedle her into letting me take Butterball home, and she went from being a flock bird to a sweet pet, thanks to the princess!. |

A birdateer moment!
Polly went to sit with mom while she did her newspaper puzzle. I noticed and got a pellet from Polly's maze pellet holder. When they spotted me, I flew to the top of my cage (pellet in beak), which was 1/2 covered with a blanket. Pellet eaten from the blanket, SCORE.

Hi Mom Butterball Thank you for the Hatchday wishes. Mama Jean got me 3 kinds of treat sticks so I'll have plenty for a while now. About 4 am she was singing Happy Hatchday to me and then all the birds joined in WOW what a racket but it was fun. I hope everybody stays warm there. Hi Mama Butterball Cuddler and everybody. I would have been back a long time ago but silly Mama Jean has gotten on several dating sites and stays on them just about all day it seems like. She can hardly believe how many folks her age are looking for someone. Now she is trying to figure out which one to join. I didn't realize how strange humans can be-just gotta love 'em I guess. The Prince and I are quite a pair now. We can't stand to be away from each other so I don't ride Mama Jean's shouder as much as I used to. We do stay out of the cage in our room though. Hope the humans haven't had the flu bug and are fine. 2nd cup of coffee time gotta go for now. Have a great day. today is my made up hatchday! Mum showered me with love & affection the whole day...i'm not complaining!
It's pretty warm over here & i had a late little bath today to cool off. We're in for another heat wave by the end of the week. Mum wishes summer was over already!
She put some Valentine's birds up, with hearts & little cards around their necks, so if you need one for Valentine's Day, just let mum know. She takes orders of any birds. There's a little green cheek conure, 2 more with hearts around their necks, a brand new umbrella cockatoo, she just finished today, 2 new budgies, a gang gang cockatoo, some bunnies & a cute little bunny by itself. Hope you're staying warm in your cold weather & have fun whatever you do.

well, here i am again, a day after our terrible heat wave. Mum & i survived by staying inside all day long. Dad works in a/c, so he was alright. Today was a much better day, nice & coolish, but there are more heat waves on the way, YUCK! The fires are all very far away from us, so no need to worry, but mum feels sorry for all the poor animals, that don't stand a chance to escape. Hopefully it'll all be over soon.
The new pics are of mums Easter bunnies, she's making now for Easter. A new sun conure & all her fishies arranged so they look like they're swimming in some water.

hope you had a good start to the new year & all is well.
Mum & dad stayed home on NYE, much to my liking! They had home delivery of some Thai meals & enjoyed that. I got some rice which is always nice!
Can you believe what mum made now? Have a look in my gallery & see the toadstool & the froggies. She's busy making up stock now. She's going to a 3 day market in March, that will be just before Easter & she'll need lots of stock.
We're having very hot weather right now & more to come. There are even bush fires in Tasmania, very unusual!

Yes we still have snow. Our don' t grumble to much about the snow . Cause dad can go out and pay with his snow blower and if we get lots of snow mom gets to stay home from work cause she works for one of the schools so she gets a snow day. If she gas to drive in it then she grumbles. Today we got our cages cleaned again and mom decided to try and make us some toys. I do have to say she bought the right stuff and did a pretty good job at making few toys. Well about the Sun Conure mo. Getting the one from PETCO.but if her friend pair has babies then she might get one from her. That will not be til later this spring.

Hi Fellow Birdateer!
It's so good to hear from you, Butterball...Happy New Year! Things have changed around my house & it's gotten more difficult for me to pull off a birdateer adventure. The new entertainment center is taller than the old one & so far, I haven't found an easy way to get up on it. The parronts also got a dog right before Christmas & blankets & stuff have been put aside for a while until she stops having accidents on the couch. So, no blankets to pick. What's a bird to do? Hope you are doing well...

Yes, that snow was really nasty and very heavy to move! Mom had an open house yesterday, and usually has space for 4 cars in her driveway, but due to the amount of snow, only 2 could fit in there for the party.
Mom can't watch anything on TV here on New Year's Eve, and here's why: Last year and this year, around 10:30, I started saying a nice lady-like Good Night. When mom ignored me, I increased my volume ever so slightly, until by 11, I let out my Nanday Scream and yelled GOOD NIGHT!! so loudly, I think the neighbors 2 towns over could hear me. Mom took the hint, finally, and went to bed! Happy New Year, my friend! We are still cleaning a little from yesterday's open house, but it's pretty much under control. Today we are all getting mani/pedis, except mom. Bree is coming to trim nails and wings for all of us. Hope you are having a great day. Hi Mama Butterball and everyone. We keep watch on the weather there cause we wanna know whats happening. We want all of you to be fine. My little siblings sound really cute and we are glad they are well too. Mama Jean keeps thinking I'm gonna lay an egg soon but I'm gonna keep her quessing. I'm to busy eating right now to lay an egg--maybe later heehee. the sciatica got gone and I'm really glad because Mama Jean kept taking a bunch of aleve and some other pill that made her sleep but at least it made the hurt go away. She thinks it just she is getting older. She will be 67 in september and Uncle Joe and Aunt Becky will be 72. I heard them talking about it yesterday on the phone. Sorry I keep running on so quess I just worry about my new Mom. Take care of everybirdie and humans too. Please tell Daddy I love him too. Well they intended for the propane to run out because they have a bad relief valve .... ane the silly propane folks replaced the wrong thing so we have to do it all over again but hopefully the next time they run out it will be mid summer instead of the coldest day of the year lol. sorry it took me so long to get back, but busy days! Christmas was nice, but the weather was very unusual this year. It rained all day long & we even had a t-storm. Mum said that was the equivalent to a "white Christmas" for here, lol!
Now we're looking forward to the New Year & wonder what it'll bring!
New pics are up. Her brand new military macaw, she just finished today. Then there is the same one again together with a new B&G macaw & a new male ekkie.

OH NO MOMMY GOT THE BABY BIRD FEVER AGAIN. YOU SEE SHE WENT TO PETCO WITH BROTHERS TO GET SOMETHINGS WENT OVER TO LOOK AT THE BIRD TOYS AND SEE A BABY SUN CONURE HE WAS NOT FOR SALE YET. HIS HATCH DATE WAS 11/5/12 BUT EVERYTIME MOM PUT HER HAND UP TO THE CAGE HE PUT HIS FOOT UP TO TOUCH MOM HAND SHE SAID IT WAS SOOOOOO CUTE.. SHE TOOK A PIC OF IT AND SENT IT TO DAD OH NO HE AS BAD AS MOM WHEN ADDING TO THE FAMILY IS WHAT CAN I DO

Well shoot, we didn't get much of a white Christmas but we did get a dusting, if you could call it that, of snow Christmas day. And of course thats when we run out of propane LOL ... thank goodness for wood burning stove or mom would have been cold. The folks spent alot of time over at their folks place so we didn't get as much attention as we wanted. In fact we haven't even got those promised christmas presents yet .... I am not a happy camper!! Mom and dad are already back to work so it may be this weekend or if we are lucky Friday before we see our gifts. I guess I can't blame the folks cause they have had a rough year and needed to charge their batteries when they could. I do expect more time and attention this weekend .... or else hehehe. Hi Mama Butterball and Daddy Apollo Sorry I didn't get here yesterday as planed. It was a yucky rainy day and Mama Jean's sciatica came to visit for Christmas so we sorta watched John Wayne movies. We are gonna get more treat sticks today because we ate the others in about 3hrs. Christmas eve. Mama Jean would have gone yesterday but she gave us some extra millet and we were fine. Its wonderful to know how well my siblings are now and I hope they get wonderful homes too. BBJ has calmed down a little now and doesn't holler to the other 'tiels. We also are sleeping closer together than we did at first but he knows I'm the boss here and on no uncertain terms. I hope everyone in the family is warm and happy as I am. Guess you all have a lot of snow-I must say I don't miss that stuff but I still you guys some. Take care of the Cuddler and all the humans and if you get the chance chew a little on the B/W's music for me. I have not tried our tree, its too small and short to be a good perch--my antennae is still better. I'm pretty good at finding my cage now. Our flock had a greyt Christmas. All my adoring fans have left tho', now I'm left with just the usual flock.

Happy Boxing Day! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. We all got new toys and treats, even the dogs did. Mom got lots of visiting done yesterday, while we stayed here and played with our new toys. This morning she went to the center while there was a little rain/sleet coming down. While she was there, it changed to ice/snow mix and started to stick. The maintenance man there told the staff and volunteers to hurry and get done, as it was getting dangerous out on the roads, so they (3 of them) did the whole building, mostly feeding, watering, and medicating (those who needed meds), but not cleaning everyone's cages. Mom only got 3 rooms thoroughly cleaned. By the time mom left, there were about 4 inches of snow on the ground, over the ice. She got down off the hill, made her way home, and slid in the driveway while she was backing in. She managed not to hit the house or car, and did get the car safely into the garage. We haven't seen any traffic on our street, either. Since she started on the computer with Gizmo's blogs today, about another 4 inches have fallen, mixed ice pellets and snow, with no sign of stopping any time soon. Mom says if it keeps up, she won't go to the museum to work tomorrow, because the roads will be too dangerous. That's good news for us, because we will have mom all to ourselves! Hope you are having a wonderful day with uneventful weather there. Hi Butterball,congrats on BOTD,
mum wanted to blog for me last night, but her internet was down for a while & by the time it came back, it was bed time. This will most likely be my last blog before Christmas & here is a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS to you & your flockily! Have a look at my new pics & there's one that says it all! The others are of another owl, the fishies all together, the frog, a new turtle & a new parakeet.
Mum's been flat out busy this week, with people wanting last minute Christmas gifts. She sold 16 pals in just 3 days & thinks there'll be more to come. The display at the library is finished now & mum picked up her pals last night. It was perfect timing, but now they're all back home, packed up in a box...poor things! Before they stood there in their glass cabinet for almost 3 month & got admired by so many people.

Hi Cuddler Vicki Mom Butterball Dad Apollo and everyone Its BeBop wishing my first family a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and hope Santa brings everybody tons of good stuff like food and toys Oh Boy do I love toys. So how are my baby siblins and cousins doing???? I bet they are a wonderful sight to behold indeed. Mama Jean is getting our stuff today. She is gonna have a tough time hiding our presents cause Prince BBJ and I are right here in the living room and see every anything that comes through the door HEHEE. Hi Butterball
It hasn't snowed here either, so mom is still going swimming. It's been more sporadic though, with the holidays rapidly approaching.
We're getting online really late today, but there are some good reasons. Mom worked at the center this morning, taking care of the education animals in the menagerie as well as the great horned owls outdoors. Then she came home and started Gizmo's blogs. She got a lot of them done until her granddaughter came for lunch. Mom and Lena went to a local Thai restaurant for a great lunch, then mom got her feathers cut. Lena won't let her go to the salon because they charge so much for a haircut, so she comes here and does mom's work at home. After that, Lena helped mom put the updated anti virus on the computer (finally), then she finished Gizmo's blogs, and finally here we are---the red headed step children, last as always this month, boohoo! (Just kidding) Anyway, it's raining and miserable here, but unseasonably warm, hope you are having a good day.
