Hi Paco!
I am pleased to report that I haven't bitten momma in over a week! We have been trying to work on my stepping up, but I'm still not great. I REFUSE to step off or out of my cage. I will only step up when I am away from my cage. Grandpa bought the Bird Tricks training DVD's, so mommy is using those to help. I really like going outside, I will step up really nicely out there.
I really like being scritched. If mom or grandma stop, I shake my chain to ask them to come back. But I am not allowing mommy to scritch me at the moment, because her nails are a very scary red and yellow color. She promised to take the color off for me today.

Hi Paco & Flock!
Thank you for stopping by to congratulate me when I was Bird of the Day! I had a lovely time in the castle with beautiful Chyna.
I'm still nervous in my new home, but I am adjusting. Momma needs to work on me with my step ups, I'm not very good with them. I like shoulders, but no one seems to want me to go up there yet. I bit mom three times yesterday. I was sitting by her chest and she was getting up to get something, but she scared me and a bit her neck. Then when she tried to get my beaky off I bit her finger and the back of her head. I didn't bite her that hard, but I did make her bleed a little bit. She has a nice mark and bruise on her neck, but she's okay. She said she's not mad at me. I really like destroying stuff (as expected)! I've almost destroyed a whole toy in my cage, and I've also destroyed many finger traps, lolly pop sticks, and a ball. hehe! Mommy made birdie for me (And I guess those other birds that I'm not allowed to play with). It has red, orange and yellow bell peppers, strawberries, almonds, and flax seed in it. I really like bread, so it's a good way for me to eat that other stuff! I also talk! I can say Hi Jester, Hi, Jester, I love you, and mommy thinks she heard me say pretty bird. I also laugh, bark, and blow kisses! I have two voices, a really deep one that a mumble stuff with, and a really adorable one that I say most of my words with. Mom says she'll have to get a video of me talking, it's so sweet!

Mom made pancakes for dinner so that was super special too. I just love pancakes! Now if I could just get her to go to Starbucks and nab me a crannberry orange scone the day would be perfect!hahahahahaha

OH NO MOMMY GOT THE BABY BIRD FEVER AGAIN. YOU SEE SHE WENT TO PETCO WITH BROTHERS TO GET SOMETHINGS WENT OVER TO LOOK AT THE BIRD TOYS AND SEE A BABY SUN CONURE HE WAS NOT FOR SALE YET. HIS HATCH DATE WAS 11/5/12 BUT EVERYTIME MOM PUT HER HAND UP TO THE CAGE HE PUT HIS FOOT UP TO TOUCH MOM HAND SHE SAID IT WAS SOOOOOO CUTE.. SHE TOOK A PIC OF IT AND SENT IT TO DAD OH NO HE AS BAD AS MOM WHEN ADDING TO THE FAMILY WHAT CAN I DO

WE GOT ONE TREAT STICK GONE AND A FEW TOYS ARE DESTROYED BRING ON THE REST. WE GOT SOME MORE SNOW THIS MORNING IT WAS PRETTY IT WAS THE BIG FLUFFLY FLAKES. We all ready and excited.

I help MOM BAKE TODAY ok more supervised . Mom got the oatmeal cookies , snicker doodle , sugar cookies made, fudge done, oyster crackers mix done, Chex mx done, , peanut clusters done, pecan turtles done . Breads done,

We got our showers, cage got a shower , mom let s try jello today it was yummy . House is cleaned. Mom going to start putting stuff on trays for neighbors and wrap it for delivery. She said I could not go its to cold out for us.

2ND DAY AT NEW HOME TO 30TH DAY AT NEW HOME
TODAY I WOKE UP AND SQUAKED TO THE MOCKINGBIRDS, AND BLUEJAYS GOOD MONRING
THEN DEREK,LYNN, ANDISABELLA TOOK ME IN MY CAGE TO THE BACK PORCH
THEY SET MY CAGE DOWN AND LET ME OUT THE FIRST THING I DID WAS FLY INTO ISABELLA’S HAIR AND TRY AND MAKE A NEST LIKE I HAD THE ONE AT HOME, BUT MY FEET GOT ALL TANGLED AND DEREK HAD TO HELP ME OUT. HE TRIED TO GET ME TIO GO ON HIS FINGER BUT I JUST JUMPED ON HIS SHOULDER, I STOOD BACK AWAY FROM HIM AND LOOKED AT HIM, THEN I FLEW TO THE SCREEN AND HUNG THERE
LYNN PUT ME BACK IN THE CAGE AND GAVE ME FRESH FOOD AND WATER.
DEREK STARTED CALLING ME BUD, ISABELLA WANTED TO NAME ME BOOBY, CAUSE SHE IS INTO THE ENGLISH NAMES, AND LYNN WANTED TO CALL ME BABY,
THOSE EARLY DAYS WERE ALL JUST A BLURR , I EVENTUALLY GOT USED TO THEM AND BECAME TAME CAUSE EVERYTIME I WAS ON SOMEONE THEY GAVE ME FOOD, SO THEY TRAINED ME TO KNOW THAT HUMAN EQUALS FOOD.
I REALLY ATTACHED MYSELF TO DEREK AND HE BECAME MY PAPA
. HE WOULD PUT ME ON HIS SHOULDER WHILE HE PLAYED FIFA SOCCER OR WHEN HE STUDIED .
IONE MONTH LATER
LYNN AND DEREK WATCHED LAND OF THE LOST WITH WILL FERAL
AND THEY DECIDED TO NAME ME CHAKA AFTER THE MONKEY CHARACTER THAT GRUNTS, SINCE I STARTED A HABIT OF GRUNTING TRYING TO FORM SOUNDS FROM WHAT THEY WERE ALL SAYING.

MY FAMILY WAS SHOCKED

THE DR EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I "M IN A LOT OF PAIN

HARRY AND LYNN CAME WITH THEIR TWO KIDS, A BOY NAMED DEREK AND A GIRL NAMED ISABELLA.

ERIN PUT ME BACK AND MY CAGE, AND I SAID MY GOODBYES TO SHERIE

I TOLD HER THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE AND FOR BEFRIENDING ME.

OK CHAKA TIME TO GO TO YOUR NEW HOME, ERIN TOLD ME

AND ON THE DRIVE HOME MY CAGE WAS PLACED IN THE BACKSEAT WITH ISABELLA AND DEREK

THEY SEEMED LIKE NICE HUMAN SKIN CHILDREN.WHEN WE ARRIVED TO MY NEW HOME, THEY PLACED ME IN THEIR BATHROOM

AND LET ME LOOSE OUT OF MY CAGE, I STARTED TO EAT,

WHILE LYNN CAME IN WITH A TREE BRANCH FOR A NICE BIG PERCH.

MY TYPIST HASN"T LEFT FOR OUT OF TOWN YET.
trip has been delayed may be back on 20th

October 15 to 18th,2012

6th,7th ,8th and 9th day at sanctuary.

Erin gave Sherie,i and Oscar fresh food and water,and changed sherie' and i's bandages

Then at the end of the week the doctor came in to check on are progress, and keep are family's updated.,on how we are progressing.

The doctor told me that i will be all healed and better soon and that my family misses me.

i really got to know Oscar and Sherie that week with all are chats about their home and family ,

And Sherie and i were so excited for Oscar, when Harry and Lynn came to take him back home .

He told Sherie and i goodbye and to have a great life, i told him i would always remember him as the bird that befriended me.

Sherie, and I every morning continued are tradition of saying good morning and goodnight to the outdoor blue jays, morning doves ,cardinals and crows

the next morning Erin came in to check on us and give us food and water,.

and she came back and placed a green checked conure next to my cage.

she told us Sherie and chaka, meet Oscar ,he is boarding here while is family is out of town .

Oscar said hello to us,and told us how he is one year old

and lived in a pet shop before he was adopted by harry and Lynn. who are newly weds who live in a house.

And give Oscar lots of attention when harry is not at work and when Lynn isn't cooking.

After Oscar finished his story Sherie and i told ours.

4TH DAY AT THE SANCTUARY/ EARLY MORNING

ERIN AND THE DR CAME IN TO ARE ROOM TO CHECK ON ARE INJURIES.

ERIN TOOK OFF MY OLD WING BANDAGE, AND THEN HELD ME) WHILE DR. H APPLIED MY NEW BANDAGE .

DR. H TOLD ERIN TO UNDUE SHERIE'S BANDAGE AND PUT A NEW WRAP ON HER FOOT

ERIN, I WILL BE BACK IN A COUPLE DAYS TO CHECK ON THEM,

CALL CHAKA'S FAMILY AND TELL THEM HOW HE IS DOING.

I HEARD HER TELL MY FAMILY,

CHAKA, IS IN A LOT OF PAIN AND MAY BE A MEAN BIRD .

BUT HE IS IMPROVING, AND FUNCTIONING WELL WITH THE OTHER BIRDS.

Ocotber 11,2012

Day 3 at the sanctuary early evening- Sherie's advice to chaka

Erin left the office , we watched her though the window, while she gave food and water to the outdoor cats .

I asked Sherie what should you do if a cat comes near your area?

Just let out a alarm call like this ,she demonstrated and it will startle the cat and make him/her go away and don"t stop squawking until they go away,

if they Don"t go away within 5 minutes then fly to a safer place.

we listened to the blue jays give off an alarm squawk , I asked Sherie what that meant and she told me that means a hawk has caught a bird,

and the blue jays are trying to scare the hawk away.

After are conversation Sherie and i stopped to eat, i noticed that there were seeds and fresh fruits. d Sherie what fruits are these? (as i picked up a red object)

Chaka,Those are strawberries and the yellow food is banana.

Mum the banana is good, do u like banana? no chaka i don"t Sherie replied

THEN WE LISTENED TO BLUE JAYS DISCUSS WERE THEY WERE GOING TO FORAGE OUTSIDE,

TALKING TO THE BIRDS OUTSIDE MADE ME MISS THE WILD, AND BEING WITH MY FLOCK.

THE LADY NAMED ERIN CAME IN AND GAVE SHERIE AND I FOOD AND WATER ALONG WITH ARE ANTIBIOTICS,

SHE TOLD US TO BE GOOD AND BEGAN TO FEED THE OTHER WILD ANIMALS.

SHERIE AND I WATCHED AS SHE GAVE FISH TO THE POSSUM, A MOUSE TO THE OWL, AND WORMS TO THE BABY DUCKLINGS AND DOVE..

THE KITTENS KNEADED THEIR MOTHER'S BELLY AND DRANK THEIR MOTHER'S MILK SO SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO FEED THEM.

2nd day at sanctuary/afternoon

A strange lady came in to give us food and water and check Sherie and i's bandages.

when her hand was in my cage I tried to lunge at her with my beak open to bite her hand ,but she had placed the food bowls in my cage already and then slammed the cage door shut fast,.

I heard her say to herself," man , that is one mean bird, it must be from all the pain" ,

so she gave me a painkiller to help ease my pain.

then after the lady left ,Sherie and i had a long conversation about how we got to the sanctuary.

she told me that her owner named Jean, noticed that Sherie had injured her foot.

From being chased on the ground ,by a cat that had made a hole in her screens on the patio.

I sure hope you weren't worried about me! I am fine! My typist has been overwhelmed lately with work and family and the kids' schooling, so blogging has fallen by the wayside. Us birds are all doing great, however. She's so busy that she doesn't even bother chasing me off the curtain rod anymore so I spend my days up there surveying my kingdom and pooping on the wall. What a great life!

I NOTICED THAT MY EYE HAD OPENED UP.

AS SHE CARRIED ME TO THE NEXT ROOM

I TOOK A GLANCE AROUND AND NOTICED ALL THE DIFFRENT ANIMALS THAT WERE STAYING AT THE SANCTUARY.

THEIR WERE BABY WOODPECKERS, AN OWL, KITTENS AND THEIR MOM, A POSSUM, BABY DUCKLINGS (UNDER A HEATER LAMP) AND A DOVE.

THE DR. PULLED ME OUT OF MY CAGE. AND IT WAS SO PAINFUL WHEN SHE EXAMINED MY WING .

SHE PUT ME IN A UNCOMFORTABLE CAST, WHILE I TRIED TO BITE HER A FEW TIMES , SHE CALLED HER ASSISTANT OVER TO HELP HER KEEP ME FROM BITING HER

FIRST DAY AT THE SANCTUARY

They ended up taking me to a sanctuary where there was other animals that needed healing from their injuries.

the lady that had rescued me (i later learned to know her as my gma) exchanged a few words with the personal ,that was muffled from the other room i was placed in.

I glanced around the room and noticed i was next to a cage with another bird in it,

her name was Sherie and she was a cockatiel .And we later on got to squawk to each other . And Sherie told me that she was a pet and had a injured foot.

Then we were interrupted by a strange lady who gave us seed and water,.and then i no longer heard the voices of my rescuer and the personal,

I wondered how long i would stay in this sanctuary and the next morning,_________-------to be continued

I didn't quite get all my thank you notes out yesterday on my day as "King of the BC". Working to finish that this evening as I want to be sure everyone who came by to help me celebrate the surprise win knows I appreciate their company, yours included! To you and your two flockmates, thanks for coming by. Just as you wished, I had a Fantastic Day! Being treated like royalty, well, you won't hear any complaints out of me!
