 On a final note, we have arrived home very late in the evening on December 11th. I checked on all the fids and everybirdy sleepily squawked to us. Monday morning I did the food and water routine. Tricky Dick or TD or Tricky D as he is called on BC did not bite me for a change (since he did that just before we left) He gobbled up his food as usual. Everybirdy had time out of their cage after the long week. Doo came up stairs and watched some TV with dad, Petey and me. When I went to return Doo back to his cage that evening, I said my usual goodnights and tucked everybirdy in. The exception was TD, he was on the bottom of his cage cold and gone, departed to Rainbow Bridge to join his fellow conures Rufus, General George Hammond and Oneil. Beautiful and peaceful at 36 years of age. (he is estimated to live only to 20 years old) No much to to say about TD. He was an old crotchity conure who lived an incredible life between Pheonix, AZ where he was hatched as a chick, road on his dad's shoulder on the lawnmower. Retiring to NJ, putting up with the cold and 13 fiblings in his golden years. His every favorite place to perch and hang our was on the blade of ceiling fans. That way he was way above everybirdy else in the flock and was the President! He enjoyed blogging on BC, sitting on my shoulder squawking into me ear in the conure tradition of his mitred frothers. He formed a fraternal relationship with his fister Miranda, sitting on and inside her cage keeping her company or maybe it was the other way around. What an extraordinary life you enjoyed Tricky! Thank you God, for the loan of this bird and we send him back to you with much love and many kisses.. |

We are saddened by your loss of Tricky D! It is hare to say goodbye to those we love. But the Word of God says, the life is in the blood and I require it back to Me!

Mom's meetings didn't last too long yesterday, only a couple of hours. She made it to the pool, which, as we know, is her priority for the summer. It's been beautiful here this week, since Wed. The water is still cold, but mom is at the pool as often as possible. Today she is going to a grand niece's birthday party, but she'll be all ours after she gets home.
The museum has slowed down a lot, summer camps will be starting there this week, but mom doesn't sign up to help out with the camp groups. She would rather be outside. You sound like a much better leader than your namesake, heehee. Mom is doing mini tours in dinosaur hall tonight, so she'll be home from the pool early enough to shower and dress for the occasion. I think it's another pool day (YAY) at least. Maybe those weeds will stop growing for a little while, until mom is in weed pulling mode again. We can only hope, heehee. Tomorrow might be a good day to get at those nasty weeds, though. Our lawn guy is going to dig up the daffodils and irises that have become big clumps, and add more garden space for mom so she can split them out this year. She thought it was a good idea, but it will mean more weeding, of course. Hope you have a great day. Sounds like a good plan to me, can you get the other conures in your flock on board? This will be short today because we keep running into those squawkatiels. It's taking forever to blog today! Mom did a tour this morning, then got her nails done, little realizing that BC would be so slow today. It's too cold for the pool, only 56 right now. So, I think she's going to get a bit more weeding done. Not fair, tell Miranda that we conures love water, and should have the new pool!
Yesterday when mom and Anna went to the National Aviary, there were no shows being put on again. That happened when she went with Lena, her other Granddaughter a couple of months ago. She was a bit upset, but there's nothing to do about it. She and Anna had a good visit there, though, even though there was not a show to see. We think Anna liked the lories best because they were landing all over her when she went into their enclosure. When they got back here, Anna helped mom plant the new flowers she got from Sam's mom. You like baths as much as I do, I see! I think it's great that mom knows that and lets us bathe a lot, especially in this heat.
Our Memorial day evening was spent with mom because she spent the day at the pool. It's still hot and muggy here, but it's supposed to cool off some this week. We are expecting that we will get outside a little and supervise while mom does some much needed weeding at some point. Not much happening today, though it looks like another pool day for mom. we have had mid 80's the past 4 days. i am surprised there was some damage to the lettuce mom thought lettuce likes cool weather. last yeaar mom has some onions in the fridge that had started to sprout so she placed them outside around some of the shrubs to deter the deer and bunnies from nibbling. well this year she she has the most beautiful onion plants growing everywhere. mom just threw them around the shrubs last year she didnt plant them or anything. if she had planted them they probably would have died. hope your weather warms up. love boo booCome visit me, Paddy Cake & Piddy Girl, CORI vote Luigi 225307 & BOO BOO vote Luigi BOTM 225307.

SKY'S thought for the DAY Sky and Momma Deb would like to welcome our newest RESCUED birdie to our flock.
She is a 20+ year old Timneh African Grey. Momma Deb went to see her today, after receiving a "tip" that this bird needed HELP asap. What Momma saw was horrible. The bird has no feathers on her, except her head and a few tail and wing feathers. The thing that upset Momma was that she has been mutilating herself for a while and has caused gorging and bleeding on various parts of her body.
She had a small cage with a grate on the bottom, but the dirt was above the grate. Her food cup had a few empty sunflower seed shells and large corn kernels like one finds in Wild Bird food mixes.
She will be coming home tomorrow and will see a Vet immediately. So, to the point of my blog today;
SHE HAS NO NAME;
we are inviting BC birdies to submit a name for consideration. Submissions will be welcomed on SKY's own page or New Wings for 7 days. The final name choose will be announced in my daily blog next week.
