 Awhile after losing my beloved Bailey, my husband found a bird on the internet. He asked if I liked it. I said yes, but I'm not ready. He said you will never be ready so let's go get the bird. We drove 945 round trip miles in the middle of October in the rain to Ohio. We found "him" (they thought it was a boy) in a small cage. The wings were severely cut, nails in bad shape, and tail shredded and broken. They got the bird at 10 weeks and had "him" a year. "He" never had a name, and they didn't handle the bird much. But they did teach him to step up and say "What are you doing"! They said, we are asking a good price because we don't want the bird. Well, the bird came home with us, an eight hour drive. After our vet saw the bird, it's a girl and she has a respiratory infection. She wasn't properly cared for so, she will always be small for a YCM. Named after a David Bowie song China Girl, please welcome ...our little CHYNA girl.

OUUUUUCH! Oh, ur poor sweet momma! A skewered eyeball definitely trumps toes in the nose! I sure hope mom's cornea healed without a deficit! That could have been a very serious injury! With our moms loving us so much & having their faces so close to our powerful beaks & sometimes razor-sharp toenails, it's a wonder more accidents don't happen! Mom is already back to giving me belly kisses...but she's making sure my toes are lower than her nose, hehe!

DAY 20 ~ THANKS FOR THE VOTE!
DANIA’S VACATION TO LEBANON part 1
Last year, in February 2012, my parents were discussing about my dad’s sister and his mom going to Lebanon to pay their sister insurance. My dad paid 1000$ every month to his sisters because his oldest sister had two grown children and their parents were divorced. In addition, the other sister who lived with them worked as a teacher and tried paying for the family. When I heard about it, I soon said I wanted to go to Lebanon too, to see my aunts, my cousin and family. My parents thought about it then, they decided that it would be my birthday present to go to Lebanon. I was glad but unfortunately I had to wait until end of March. I was usually impatient so I tried getting it out of my mind for a while. Then it was finally the day where me, my grandma and my aunt were heading to Lebanon. We sat at the airport where my dad worked, and went to a restaurant to have breakfast. Then it was time to say our goodbyes, I was leaving for two weeks and I was already crying, missing my parents. It was the first time I was gone that long from my parents and first time I was going on vacation during the school days. Furthermore, we boarded the plane and took off to head to Lebanon, Beirut. Mom and I cannot believe I am 9 years old already. I came to Mom when I was only a couple of months old and now I am a big boy and so independent. My entire flock lucked out because Mom cleaned all our cages outdoors and she gave every birdy a new toy, but I got TWO new toys and some treats. To make things better, I got BOTD. What more could a bird want. Spending a day in that Man Cave with King Jetta was something a bit different from the usual castle experience but it was loads of fun. Thanks so much for coming by to wish me a Happy Hatchday and to congratulate me on BOTD. I do hope you got a piece of the cake Lizzie baked - she is the best! Mom made cookies but they don't compare to the cake. Sorry Mom... giving Mom a kiss. We had some rain here this evening but suppose to have more tonight and tomorrow and get colder here too so we will see. Hope you dont lose power again either! That is scary. We thought we might of missed chatting somehow so that is why we wrote then. At the one grands school at the end of 5th grade they go camping for 3 days every year and the grands dad went too as a chaperone. Skin sis stayed home to take care of the dog and house but sure missed the grand and her dad. Skin sis came up to visit with us but wanted to stay home at night to be with the dog and said she slept good in her own bed. They are all home from camping and had a good time and many memories too I am sure. “Friendship, like flowers, blooms ever fair, when carefully tended by dear friends that care.” Leaving a big old vote for you my friend….GusCome visit me, Gus & Chi chi ..

So glad that you got your power back. These storms keep popping up and your never can tell whether they will be a bad one or not.We now have a generator all wired up and ready to go in case there is a storm that knocks the power off for any length of time. We will be able to run almost everything and especially the lights, TV, heat, Hot water heater, all the kitchen appliances & the freezer in the garage.Because we have to many power failures here. Hope your team wins too and yes would be nice if each team wins at least one this month like you say. It sure was hot and humid here today and had a few showers but suppose to have more and cool off then. The one grand and her dad went camping with the school and skin sis sure did miss them. mom thought she had me on the best possible healthy diet. even when i was sick the vets always said how good my feathers looked with only one or two feathers with stress bars on them. mom was very happy to see how beautifully my new feathers were coming in after my spring molt. well wouldnt yoju know my feathers are now loaded with stress bars. i look much healthier, am more active, my beak is growing in perfectly. as a matter of fact mom doesnt even have to trim it because it is not growing so rapidly now. mom thought i was on my way to recovery until she sees all these stress bars. she did read that if you over supplement your parrot excess pigmentation and stress bars can occur so mom has stopped all my supplements for liver disease. so far so good but i guess we will have to wait for my next molt to see the end results. mom says as long as i am acting healthy and have a sparkle in my eyes she is happy(sort of). she just doesnt like seeing all these stress bars. why last night when i had my bath i was flapping my wings like crazy and having the best time. she says i havent acted like that for quite a long time so that made her happy also. by the time i was done with my bath mom was completely soaked. love Cori
HAPPY HUMPDAY! mom was feeding my crickets in my cricket farm and one managed to jump out. it had only a few minutes of freedom before i spied it and pounced on it.
mom said she has never seen me move so fast. its been a long time since i have eaten a live one. boy, was it ever tasty!

How are u sweetie? Mom only got a few blogs out yesterday, so she's sending the same blog with some new added to it! Mom got her cortisone injections in both of her shoulders yesterday, which she gets every 3 months. She usually gets some relief almost instantly, but her right shoulder actually feels worse today! Mom also went to her granddaughter's preschool graduation last evening! I had an exciting day today! It was mom's granddaughter Olivia's last day of preschool, & I got to go! Most of Livi's classmates came running up to mom at the graduation last night, very excited that I'm coming to their class today! Mom takes me to the preschool classes there every year, & I love seeing all the kids as much as they love seeing me! The only difficult part of any excursions, is mom getting me back into my carrier!
Mom is doing good today, but her nose is very sore! Mom has been giving me belly kisses for nearly 16 yrs, without incident! It's swollen on the right side & a bit bruised, even tho the damage was done on the inside! Because my nails & toes are so long, most of the damage was 2 inches down in the nasal cavity! The ER Doc said it was a good thing mom had previously had her adenoids removed, coz my nails would have destroyed the right one! Mom has to be rechecked in 2 weeks, or immediately if she starts bleeding again! She had to be cauterized in 4 different places & has to take an antibiotic! Mom said that the scariest part of having my toes stuck up her nose, was that she was very afraid my 2 toes would end up broken...mom was very relieved that my toes are absolutely fine! Mom refers to this incident as "NoseGate 2013"!
Mom doesn't want anyone to think that the ER Nurses & Docs were being discourteous, they were not! They were picturing a tiny pet bird, like a Budgie, not a large Macaw! Mom showed them a pic of me, they weren't expecting me to be so big! When mom said "Be glad I got her loose before I came in"! That's when they started laughing!

Why on earth would your mom want you to put your toys away before bed?
Im glad to hear you are all okay from the storms you got hope you didnt have any damage.Losing power is no fun at all thank goodness we havent had any storms lately that have knocked our power outt for a extended period of time.

Congrats to the Tiel Terrors on their win yesterday!
Our hearts are sad for all that loss of life in OK. What a terrible event.
Mom worked in the RVS room again today, the baby foxes are growing like weeds! There are still a ton of raccoons and a few ground hogs, too. Then she went to get her hair cut, and stopped to pick up some lunch. We all told her to eat fast, because both the boys have a game today, and Falco wants to watch and cheer. Tonight she's working at the museum again, a special evening event. On my page is a pic of the fountain mom got running the other day. It looks like it's terra cotta, but it's really a light plastic. V4U today. Those Wave Pansies are so pretty. We have bought them before, too. They are so much nicer and they are so full compared to the regular planters of pansies. Nothing new here. Same old, same old. Been having lots of rain and thunderstorms lately. Been so busy, as usual. We planted some cherry tomato seeds in a planter, and they are starting to pop up. We had an earthquake here last week, and it happened just as Mom happened to sit back in her chair. you know those chairs where the backs move. Well Mom freaked out. The house shook and we started squawking like it was worse than it was, and really it was 5.1 on the scale, which was a big one for around here. Mom came running into the bird room, knowing what it was and doing a dance to make us forget about it, and calming those who really were scared, so it it happened and she was not home we would not panic as much. We never know when it can happen. Mom understands how you feel about the rain and thunder. It is loud. Yesterday Mom went to meet up with her oldest skin daughter so today she has to clean our cages (she did that before going out yesterday) but she also has to do the floor, It really needs a good washing again. Wow....glad you are OK! Sounds like you had some really bad storms. That is so scary! I don't like storms either. We heard today that the tornado on Monday in OK was an EF-5! Our heart breaks for all of those people affected!

Hope you get your bazebol pic soon. Just saw another team poster pic somewhere. Sounds like your coach needs to get more active in generating more team spirit. Coach Kacey told us that on game days we need to send in two blogs. If unable to attend then blog before the game and also at the end whenever you can get to the page this per the Kommish who apparently wants to ensure participation.
Rain has never bothered us, but then we rarely have the thunder and lightning to make it more scary. Good thing you had your mom to snuggle since being in the dark isn't any fun either when it's daytime.
It got a tad cooler here, so back to more normal spring for us.

During the Sunday Tornado we had all been loaded into our carries and were sitting in front of the door while the folks were loading the car!!!! Can you believe dad missed Dory next to the front door ... sigh ... adrenaline does some funny things to those hoomans.
Sundays tornado went right over our house but stayed up long enough to miss us directly.
Mondays Tornado tracked just south of Tinker AFB were both folks work. They were in lock down for a couple of hours.
25 of moms co-workers houses were damaged or destroyed and dad had 5 co-workers houses with minor damage. Its just aweful. Mom has seen this destruction 1st hand and its nothing like seeing it on TV. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.

We hope your power stays on this time! Happy Humpday BC buddies, our week is half empty, and yet half full! We are looking at a slightly overcast and rainy day, but it makes our tomatoes and okra grow, and unfortunately the grass also! Dad used to spend a lot of time making our lawn and shrubs, and flower beds look so nice, but old age has cut a lot of that out! I am hoping to get out in my aviary for awhile, and Ziggy's cage is ready for outside! I'll probably stop by the game today because I love baseball so much, and I must see what aunt Auda packed in Sugar's Hello Kitty lunch box! It wasn't so bad and the folks fell all over themselves making it up to me .... I think they can screw up as much as they like LOL. The folks, on Mondays tornado, couldn't even get home to get us to safety but we were safe from the path anyway. The folks were more in the line of lire on Monday as it just skirted south of Tinker AFB. The folks were in complete locked down for about an hour and a half. We were very glad to see them get home even though it was a little late. Have a wonderful day. V4U. Hugs.

I missed you ! ! I'm so sorry you had storms ! Me and mom have been watching the news - so very, very sad . . . she's been needing lots of cuddles.
It got warm and muggy here all of a sudden - in fact, I had to call for my bath tub twice yesterday ! Mom is just glad the school finished installing a/c in all the classrooms over spring break - 26 ten year olds after recess can be pretty ripe !

We had a little sunshine this morning and then the dark clouds rolled in and it started raining...we haven't had rain in quite a while. Then the winds came and so did the sunshine again to finish off the day...

Think we got out of sync as we call it and missed you somehow on the blogging. We are praying for everyone in Oklahoma with the terrible tornadoes there. We hope any of our friends on BC are safe and well too that live in the stricken area. It is so sad of all the tornadoes in Oklahoma and we are praying for everyone that lives there and on BC too. We hope our friends are all safe and well and know your in our hearts and prayers. they say it is unprecedented to have to major storms hit in the same area like oklahoma. i think the other was in 1999 and it was 300 mph winds. that is some very scary storms. we felt so saddened by everyones loss. our hearts go out to them.we have already started getting scam emails trying to get money. there are always people that try and profit over others tragedies.

What a ball game yesterday! Congratulations to the Phoenix Base Flyers, you pulled off a great win, but the Rainforest Raiders have nothing to be ashamed of. With the way they're playing, they won't lose many games this year.
Mom had 3 tours today, and she says if you have to have 3, this is the way to go: she had different grade levels and different subjects for each tour. We got the fountain up and running last night, too, so it looks pretty outside now, and we'll be able to hear the water when we go outside with mom. Today it's bright and sunny so we might get out, if mom gets our blogs done in time. It's hot and muggy here today...Mom Tbird is having fits, but Mom D is happy. She says it feels like summer. Of course, she is avoiding the ironing and planting she said she was gonna do, but hey, she's supposed to be retired, right?
Mom saw some cherries at the store today, but they were pretty pathetic. Guess they weren't from your neck of the woods! Thanks for the Preakness results...they weren't in our local paper after all. Geeze, horsies are much more fun than tornadoes and politics. If I were the editor, the paper sure would be different.
Don't worry about running out of nuts....I have a standing order!

...we are absolutely heart broken over the loss of life and property in Okalahoma! Devastation such as this puts life into perspective, and with that comes a realization of just how fragile and precious life really is! Regarding the Raiders loss, I was just one biscuit short at breakfast, and I would have hit a Grand slam to win our game, that won't happen again! On the upside we are all safe and moving forward, please give my love to all in your happy little home, see ya tomorrow...

Your weather sounds like ours. We had summer 3 weeks ago and then it became winter again. This past weekend was nice and MOm decided to wash the cages outside again instead of indoors, so she would not be breathing in all the feathers and dust. Sunday, she was on the last cage and it started getting cloudy. She got it inside and got the pressure washer and everything ready to put away and the rain started. Perfect timing. Yesterday, it was suppsoed to rain again so she got up early and finished the floor that never got done the previous day, and then the sun came out. Mom rushed through the cages, so she could get outside and enjoy the stroke of luck. Well, this morning the rains hit again. It is still early, but it looks pretty bad out there, and mOm said it is too cold and dull to even want to do anything but curl up and go back to bed. Really though, she is going to get some groceries later, which includes some of our favorite things like zucchini, and grapes and knowing Mom she will find other things that we all can eat.
