update: Red has been in my family a little over a month now and he's slowly coming around more and more. Red likes to sit on my shoulder while I'm at the computer. Red also "mumbles" under his breath. Would "love" to know what he's saying. I've bought a teach your parrot to talk CD. The first word is "Hello". Red tries to say it but not quiet coming out right although you can tell that's what he's saying. Almost there but I also realize he may never say it clear. I'm happy even if he doesn't. I can now occasionally stroke his tail as he moves around with his back to me without him screaming. When he's on my shoulder I can touch his toes with one finger and rub my head up against his chest & wing. It's PROGRESS !!!Come visit me, Red.

Red is new to my family. I've had Red for less than a month. I was told he was not tame so I decided to take it slow with him. The second day my grown son just put his arm up to Red and he stepped right up on it. Red had been in a cage with another male and his old owners said they had had him for 6 years. So this was quiet the surprise! Red is very quiet and satisfied to be on his cage playpen all day until bedtime. He's never offered to bite or nip at anyone. I can hold him but can't touch/pet him without him screaming so I sometimes take a quick stroke of him as he's entering his cage. His scream isn't as loud or lasts as long as in the beginning. I was told he is 15 years old. Red is full flight but won't fly off the cage or my arm. He has grown in some small fluffy feathers on his upper chest so I'm hoping he will recover full feathered.Come visit me, Red.
