I was looking for a companion for Mr. Mackie (03/2006). I met Pickles at the Wings of Love Bird Haven. He had been owned by a college student that didn't have time for him. Pickles seems very sweet and laid back when we met him. This personality trait we don't see very often anymore. It turns out Pickles would rather peck out Mackies eyes and flush him down the toilet rather than be friends with him. Within 2 months we realized we had a daredevil genius on our hands. Pickles is such a handfull. He gets out when all other birds are safe in their cages..

Active within 646 Days Hi! My name is Pickles I am a Meyer's Parrot from Arlngton, TX. Daredevil & Pick-Pick 10 years old M Meyer's Parrot He loves apples, red grapes, squash and my homemade birdy biscuits. Upstairs in the open gameroom with my son, on the wood railing. He loves to hang out in our windows that are 12 ft from the floor. He can also be found on his kitchen perch. He is the only one that gets on it. Oh and he LOVES his heated perch. Pickles has mutliple personalities. You never know which one you are going to get. It's a real scary situation. He alwasy looks at you in the same way scary way weither he is going to be cool or mean (see close up picture below). Pickles despises me but he is crazy about my son. He dive bombs the dogs. Pickles is an amazing flier. I cannot belive the agility he has when flying. He is amazing in comparison to Mr. Mackie who's flight looks very labored. You can see Pickles take apart a water bottle on www.youtube. com, just look up "Meyer Parrot Pickles". I recently had our vet clip his wings. He is NOT happy at all. I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I thought rendering him flightless would allow me to connect with him more and teach him some manners. So far, it's not working! Update: I have moved Pickles upstairs to the open gameroom where my son hangs out. Pickles is so happy. He can still see what's going on downstairs and be right next to his boy AND he is higher than all the other parrots. He's living large now!. Where there is a will there is a way..

Yes, Danny is wearing a Flight Suit in his photos. I enjoy wearing mine-- it means I get to go outside. Danny let mommy put one of my old small ones (I outgrew them once I got healthy and put on some weight,) and he didn't mind it, but his human isn't really feeling confident about wrangling the little feather ball into it, so he hasn't worn it since he left my nest. I'm a big Flight Suit fan, though. They are cool and add that little splash of color that we hens occasionally desire. v2u and ciao for now! I added two photos of the interloping, cage stealing birdie that visited my house in September. You should drop by and take a look. The pix are at the very bottom. (I always get top billing, you see.) Anyway, turns out that the little bird fiend is a really neat bird friend. He has a great forever home and is really keeping his humans happy. He won't be getting his own page any time soon, because his humans aren't really web folk, but we'll keep you posted on Danny's accomplishments. He speaks human very well. I was surprised by that since he's a conure--cinnamon mutation green cheek, but be precise. I guess I've just never met a chatty conure-- squawky, yes, but not chatty. :) I just wanted to share with my friends! V2u and ciao for now! Thank you Auntie Amy here. I just wanted to stop by and say thank you for thinking of Lola. She is flying free now with Spirit Wind, Skittles, Dusty, Alex, Kiwi and Pretty as well as so many others.. It would take me days to name all of the babies I know of who have passed. It's time for a NO VACANCIES sign to go up at the Rainbow Bridge.. Ahhh, yes. Biting... I was out for blood for the firs 9 months I was in my forever home. It's all good now, though. I've been learning lots of things lately--I can identify the cats by name now. I tell mommy if I want the ball or the bell ball and things like that. This is a fairly recent development and mommy gets all excited about it. I enjoy the extra attention and interaction. HELLO FROM LITTLE LUCY! Pickles, I saw your name on Sarabi's page and had to fly over to see what kind of bird has such a cool name. You sound like quite a handful, but you still have a very cute name. Your parronts are to be congratulated for adopting a rescue bird. Sometimes it takes more time with these little fellows because we never know what went on before getting them, whether they were abused, neglected, etc. They need security just like we do. Hi Pickles Thanks so much for the visit. We are in the same family. Me you, Hope and Lillian. Lillian is a Red Belly, my sister. You asked me if I like baths? NO!! I hate to get sprayed. Mom lets me take a bath in my water bowl when I feel like. Lillian does not like them either. We hide in our cages when Mom gives the Amazons a bath. The Conures don't like to be sprayed either. The Cockatiels love it though. What are you favorite things to eat? Do you have any favorite toys? Talk to you soon.. Oh no Pickles you need to be a good boy. My sister Tegan is a lot like you but she is not a screamer. Mom has to supervise her when she is out too or she will try to beat up the Sun Conures and Cockatiels. She gets pretty hormonal and jealous. If she is not near any of them she is very loving. She is a Brown Headed Parrot which is in your family. We also have a Red Belly named Lillian. I wanted to stop by and say thank you for the congrats and give you a vote. Mom says I have that sweet and innocent look right before I chomp someone too. She never knows when I'm going to be nice or naughty. I'm always nice to my dad though. Hi Pickles You know what we like to bit to, but we are getting better. Sparky used to bit alot because he was taken from a bad man that teased him with oven mitts and sticks.
