 When my first bird Jasper died mysteriously in the night and when his friend quickly followed by escaping out of a malfunctioning travel cage, i soon found living without a bird unbearable. It was just to quiet! So soon after i began searching around the classifieds for baby birds and came across my dear Spock!. |

FIRST DAY AT THE SANCTUARY
They ended up taking me to a sanctuary where there was other animals that needed healing from their injuries.
the lady that had rescued me (i later learned to know her as my gma) exchanged a few words with the personal ,that was muffled from the other room i was placed in.
I glanced around the room and noticed i was next to a cage with another bird in it,
her name was Sherie and she was a cockatiel .And we later on got to squawk to each other . And Sherie told me that she was a pet and had a injured foot.
Then we were interrupted by a strange lady who gave us seed and water,.and then i no longer heard the voices of my rescuer and the personal,
I wondered how long i would stay in this sanctuary and the next morning,_________-------to be continued

MY FIRST RECOVERY DAY
THE LADY THAT RESCUED ME AND HER BOY HATCHLING FED ME FROM A SYRINGE BIRD FORMULA
I STARTED EATING AND JUTTING MY THROAT OUT.
I WAS SO HUNGRY FROM NOT EATING, THAT I TOOK A LONG NAP AFTERWARDS.
I HEARD THE LADY CARRY ME TO HER METAL MONSTER AND SHE TOOK ME ON A LONG DRIVE , AND I COULD FEEL

chaka's first human interaction
i could hear them talking and saying mom is he/she still alive, mom it has a broken wing and looks it has only one eye open,
the mother replied to her hatch ling, one half of its body most be paralysed it may not function on that one side.
from then on
the lady held me on her chest while she watched other humans yelling and whistles blowing
she held me for a while .and then she called her mate and the next thing i know i was in some type of entrapment
what i later learned was known as a cage.
she took me home with her hatch lings and tried to feed me some worms , but i was still in so much pain to show any interest in food

Hi Spock!
Thanks for visiting Buddy! Spock is such a cutie- love your pictures of her and her coloration, especially with the yellow :3 haha I have tried making rice the same way before in the microwave.. never again! But I have found microwavable white rice that is actually quite yummy and is in single (human) servings. I have found various brands of the single serve containers, usually in packs of 3 or 4, at a few of the little asian groceries we have around here. When I first bought it I was a little intimidated by the packaging (it was in Japanese) but looking closely there were pictures and some english instructions. The ones I get dont have to be refrigerated prior to cooking and you just peel the corner to let steam out and zap it for a few minutes. It's a life saver for me (I'm a commuting college student that cant cook!) and little Buddy gets a spoonful too :) Oh and here's a vote for you Spock!!Come visit me, Buddy.

When people think of pet birds they think of parrots, parakeets, conures, and even toucans! But i rarely see people considering turkeys, chickens, or ducks as pets? I must confess that I do. The loss of our pet turkeys has been tragic. R.I.P. Pumpkin and Thanksgiving our beloved pet turkeys. Come visit me, Spock, Homer & Rollo.

So sad to see Bird Talk Mag. publications to be ceased. I loved the magazine and found many of the things in it helpful. The magazine helped me be a better bird owner. All the food recalls are pretty scary, it would be devastating if i lost Spock. Dont know if id even find out in time as I rarely check bird channel! The Lafber recall came close as Spock is fed Lafber food including Nutri Berries! Hope any bird food issues with Lafber are fixed before i buy her some new food this month! Nice to meet you. When mom first gave me my slinky I was not sure about it. Let me tell you it's lots of fun. Mom gets the plastic ones. In the big size. The conures even play with the slinky. Mom just drops it sideways on outside on top of my cage bars and it falls into place over the bars and hangs down inside like a tunnel. We are doing laundry today so I been helping mom fold towels. we got a little rain but not much. Well time to fly off for now. Hmmmm.
Its amazing how much your birds change in a matter of weeks. When i got spock, she was only a couple of weeks old, not even chirping like an adult budgie. But now Spock is almost nine months old and has clearly changed. All her white feathers have turned a neon yellow, she has lost all the bars on her head, and has learned to mimic many sounds. When we first got her we thought she was a male, but is now clearly a female as her cere has turned a terra-cotta brown. Wow Spock you grew up fast!Come visit me, Spock, Homer & Rollo.
