  Hi Morgan!
Happy New Year! I know that Peachy and I have not been around much lately but that doesn’t mean we haven’t frequently thought about all our dear friends here on the BC. We just wanted to fly by today to say that we have not forgotten about you, miss you dearly, and promise to keep in touch in 2009. You’re friendship has meant a lot to us (and mommy, too) and we all wish you joy, peace and prosperity in the new year. Ok, have to leave you with a “joke of the day….” Question: Why can’t a chicken coop have more than 2 doors?………………………………………….Answer: Because if it had 4 doors it would be a chicken sedan! hehehehe! See ya next year!

  Hey Morgan!
Caymus here! Long time, no squawk…how have you been? It’s a nice sunshiny day here. Today mom gives me a bath with the spray bottle and then I get to wipe my face on her shirt, shake the water from my feathers onto her face, and soak up the rays while I dry off. Mom says I smell like a wet dog whenever I get a bath, and my skin-sis says I smell like a french fry. (???) Very odd humans! Leaving big hugs and a vote! P.S. LOVE YOUR AVATAR...SO CUTE!

  HAPPY EARTH DAY FROM CAYMUS
Happy Earth Day, Morgan! Today is the day to celebrate our plant, do something positive to make it a better place, and to pass on that message to our future generations. Mom and I want to take this time to thank you for reading my “Green Ideas.” You know what the best part was? We have realized that all the BC parronts out there are the largest group of green-minded folks around! I mean, I send out an idea and I get tons of responses back that your flock is already doing these things! Now, I know there are a lot of really good people out there with an appreciation for nature and the will power to save our plant. But for everybirdy here to all have that same ideal? My theory is that us birdies have a special influence on our humans. That when they look in our eyes, they see compassion. When they see us fly, they know our hearts. And when they feel our feathers against their skin, they know that the trust we give them comes from a spirit within us all. I’m so honored to be a part of this BC family, and so my final “green idea of the day” is to BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER…WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

It’s a quiet day today…just hanging out listening to some Jimmy Buffet (hey, I’m a Florida bird…what do you expect?) and pulling apart what little remains of the toy daddy bought for me on Sunday. Mom should be home by the time I’m finish with that, and then it’s toy rotation time! (CAYMUS’ "GREEN IDEA OF THE DAY": If every American switched to receiving just one bill as an electronic statement instead of a paper one, the one-time savings would be 217,800,000 sheets—enough to completely blanket the island of Key West in a single layer of paper. 5 more days until Earth Day!)

Hey Morgan, not too much going on today. I’m just hanging out and turning my wood toys into toothpicks. There was a little green tree frog on my window this morning. He must have crawled into the patio under the screen door. His little feet had sucker-things on the bottom and I tried to bite them with my beak but he was safe on the outside. Well, mom put some pears in my bowl today so they’re callin’ my name. Leaving you with big hugs and a vote. (CAYMUS’ "GREEN IDEA OF THE DAY": Use vinegar as a cleaning solution instead of nasty chemicals. Go to www.vinegartips.com for tips, tricks, and recipes. It’s safe for our humans, safe for us, and saves a LOT of money. 12 more days until Earth Day!)

Hello Morgan, just a quick fly-by today since daddy took a “mental health day” and mom wants me to daddy-sit him until she gets home this afternoon.   News from Caymus
Breaking news from Florida: I have new flock members...about 150 of them! They have fins instead of feathers but they're so cute! Mom put a picture of them on my page. They’re really tiny and mom says most of them won’t survive, which makes me sad, but it will still be fun to watch them grow up. The mom and dad fishes are so protective that my parronts had to run out and get a divider for the tank to keep the other big fish away. Mom says if I get bored while she's at work today, I can think of names for all of them. Ha-ha mom, very funny! Leaving you a vote and a hug. Squawk at you soon!

‘Twas the Night Before Easter – By Caymus & Peachy
‘Twas the night before Easter, on a warm Florida night**And Caymus was snuggled in his hut out of sight.**Peachy was snoring, the cats on the couch,**Mom and dad in the bedroom; all was quiet in the house.**And while the Conure was dreaming about hard-boiled eggs**(Which he was soon to consume and get all over his head),**In the sky flew a birdy not many have seen**He was yellow and blue and orange and green.**He had all of the colors that we’ve come to know**When we look up in the sky and see a rainbow.**Purples and pinks, some teal and blue**And gold was his tail, leaving streaks where he flew.**Now we have heard stories about bunnies and such**Who leave hidden treasures from his basket’s clutch.**There are chocolate eggs from Cadbury and jelly beans galore;**There are sugary treats, Peeps, bubble gum, and more.**But high in the sky, flying over the trees,**Above all the rooftops and smooth like the breeze,**Came a birdy so beautiful no one could deny,**Delivering delights to all his friends who can fly.**He had a gray beak, and a little round belly,**And his favorite treat was raspberry jelly!**As he landed upon one particular home**He looked down in the windows to see if any lights were on.**Now there was no movement or sound from inside this space,**So down the air vent he went (because in Florida you don’t need a fireplace).**Now Caymus the Conure was on high alert this night**And said, “Squawk, who’s there? You gave me a fright!”**“Don’t fret now, my friend…I mean you no harm.**But I’ve just flown in for the birdy nut farm.**I’ve got peanuts, pistachios and cashews, all unsalted.**Walnuts and sunflower seeds, too,” then he took a deep breath and halted.**Caymus said, “So who are you then, and why are you here?”**And the stranger responded, “haven’t I made that quite clear?**I have come to bid you happy Easter wishes**To you and your flock, even the mice and the fishes.**Thank you so much for letting me stop by,**But I’ve got to move on and to the next house I must fly.”**And like that he was gone before Caymus could blink**And that Dusky was left saying, “I just saw the Easter Birdy, I think!”**So the story now goes at this special time in the Spring,**If you turn your head late at night and think you see a wing,**If you find extra treats inside of your cage,**You’ll know the Easter Birdy is real, and could even visit your BirdChannel page!**

  Hi Morgan!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m wearing my green…are you? (hehehe) Mommy’s been sick but is finally feeling better. She still sounds weird and she um, looks a little, um, how shall I say…tired? But she has more energy than I saw all last week. She promised me today I would be able talk to all my birdy friends again so here I am…here to entertain! Q: Why should you never iron a 4-Leaf Clover? A: Because you don’t want to press your luck! (hahaha) Well I hope you have a very lucky day and I’ll fly by again real soon. Hi Morgan! Just a quick fly-by today as it’s a busy day! Since daddy’s been on a business trip mom’s been tackling some projects around the house and now has 5 things going at once. I wish I could surprise her when she comes home from work and have a few things done, but that screwdriver is a bit too big for my little feet! I guess I’ll just keep helping her by being right next to her whenever she does anything, giving her my two-cents on how things should be done. Here’s a hug and a vote…have a great Tuesday!

Thank you so much for stopping by to wish me a Happy 1st Hatch Day! Mommy showed me all the messages I got from my BC buddies and I am so appreciative of your friendship. It makes me feel all warm inside! My hatch day was great because mommy came home early to spend some 1-on-1 time with me before the rest of the flock arrived. And my cake was a surprise…she made a pizza crust from scratch, then spread peanut butter on top, and put slices of bananas over that! Now, you might be laughing at this point because I’m sure you can image the mess us birdies can make with peanut butter and bananas, right? You guessed it…mama had one heck of a time cleaning up the kitchen AND me! (hehehe) I had peanut butter on my feet, little peanut butter footprints across the table, chunks of banana on my beak, pizza crust flung everywhere. As presents I got a bunch of foot toys, a round rope swing (which I’m still afraid of) and a little green barrel that mom hung inside my cage. The barrel is hollow, and you have to turn a handle and it will open up with treats inside. It’s supposed to be “educational and challenging,” but I figured it out in less than 5 minutes. (yawn) Anyway, mom will be putting the pictures up this weekend so I’ll let you know when they’ve been posted. Until then, sending big hugs and a vote from sunny Florida!

  Hello from Caymus...
A love bug that acts like a Caique...that's probably how my mom would describe me. I am VERY active, too. When my gramma first met me the first thing she said was, "does he ever just sit still?" Yeah grams, when I'm ASLEEP! HOWEVER, I have met a Caique. Very sweet and charming and all playful laying on his back when in his carrier. But as soon as he was let out, it was the equivalent of the Tazmanina Devil on caffeine! We all though his head was going to start spinnig around. I think he was dropped on his head as a baby. tehehehe Sad news is though, when mom called yesterday to ask about the baby RB, he was sold! We were pretty sad, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. But now that mom's narrowed down what kind of bird she'd like to add to our flock, she just has to wait for the right one to choose us I guess. Oh, and convice my daddy it's a good idea too! hehehehe Thanks for your insight, and at least now I have a new friend...you! Here's a vote and a hug.

Hi Morgan! My mom is doing a little research on Red-Bellied Parrots to see how compatible one would be with me. Do you have any other flock members? Are any of them Conures? The reason she asks is the weekend my mommy and daddy went to a bird show and met a 6 week old male Red-Belly. Mom really fell for him, and daddy’s “thinking about it.” But mom wants to ask around to see if other mommies or daddies have any advice on if bird like you would tolerate someone like me who is constantly “on the go” and has very little fear of anyone or anything. Here’s a vote and a big birdie hug, and we appreciate your expertise!

  Hi from Lonnie
Good Morning Big Bird, Morgan, I just love the help I get on BC. Today, I decided to take Zeus advice. I think and just let Ellie build our nest herself. I love her to death and just want to help but she reminds me that for safety sake I cannot put material so close to the hole. She thinks the chicks will fall out. I guess she is right, but a man likes to look out the door when resting on his nest. Our teils, Ms.Skeeter and Mr. Wishbone have two eggs already and she is still laying. Beep and Peep the Zebras have 3 eggs and are expecting on January the 6th also. I guess all good things come to those who wait. I'll be patient with Ellie. Afterall, I can't lay the eggs. hehe she is the expert there. Well, got to fly...Here is a vote for you and your flock too. It is from all of us. Yes, Fortune has the Big Head.....Patrick and I love it for him though. Happy 2008 my friend. Lonnie

A Day for Giving Thanks <~)
Hello, Morgan. Rose’s Mom here (~.~). Rosalie has asked me to deliver a Thanksgiving Day message to her friends, and I must admit that I appreciate the opportunity to visit all of you as well. She brought many blessings and much wisdom to my life, and I have been only too happy to share both with you all. So without further ado, I give you Rose ~~~~ ONE MONTH AGO Thanksgiving day, I left all of you, My Beloved Friends, for the Rainbow Bridge. ~~ You have been so warm and loving, thoughtful and supportive. I am at a loss for words (Hard to believe of ME, isn’t it?!) to express my deeply heartfelt appreciation for your friendship. I have been able to read all of your blogs on the ‘HeavenNet’ up here at the Rainbow Bridge, and I have seen all of the lovely tributes you have created, and the expressions of sympathy you have shared with each other, as well as with my mom and family. I have had the honor and privilege of receiving other friends into our flock up here, “just this side of Heaven”. And we want you all to know that we are well, whole, and happy to be awaiting the day together when we are each reunited with those of you who have loved us. ~~ I did a little meddling in Mom’s business a few days ago (as was always my habit), and made sure that she saw some words that would make her stop and look at Thanksgiving a little differently than usual this year. “When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.” ~ Kahlil Gibran. ~~ There is much to be grateful for this year. Mom has been a part of a journal writing class at one of her bible studies, and her homework for this week is to ’write about things that you are grateful for’. Her group leader left everybirdy with this reminder: “Gratitude is the forgotten factor in happiness!” That must be why we wish everyone a ‘Happy Thanks-giving’. ~<~)~ [You can see a pictorial version of Rose’s message in her photo gallery at the bottom of her page, courtesy of her Auntie Amy, Me Morgan’s mom.]

The tracking says the new cage is in Long Beach-- that's about 10 miles away. Thus, I believe it will be here by 2008. Mommy says I'm being sarcastic, but I would say it is realism. If a bird could growl....well, wait, I can growl, GRRRRR! I am still hoping I can say "I'm thankful for my new, spacious, bird-home" on Thanksgiving, but I'll probably just be saying, "that poooooooor turkey!" I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! V2u and ciao for now!

It is difficult to sit in front of the computer, and type in these silly blog boxes without using Rosalie’s voice. She has been my inspiration, my heart, my light for more than 10 years. Even the cats are looking for her in her cage. ~~ I was reminded, in the early hours of this morning, of a quote that really hadn’t made much sense to me, until now. Rosalie helped me understand: “Hope is a thing with feathers that perches in the soul.” ~ Anonymous. ~~ You all have been so kind, so welcoming, so loving. We have truly been blessed to become a part of your family. Your kind and thoughtful expression of sympathy is helping to heal our broken hearts. ~~ We invite you to “Come Visit” Rose’s page again, and often if you’d like, to help us continue to celebrate a lifetime of loving and being loved by our precious Rosalie. ~~ Rose’s two fisters, Ruby Francesca Begonia and Leah Danielle Sharon, have their own pages here on the BirdChannel, and we will welcome your visits there as well. ~~ Again, thank you for your love and prayers for Rosalie and her family. ~~ Eva, Dan, `U´Ruby, and <°ÇLeah

Rose’s mom here. Rosalie is, once again, hospitalized. At this point, her life is not immediately threatened, although what we are dealing with is serious. I have posted a note on her page giving a brief explanation of what has happened to date, if you would like to learn the details. Please keep her in your prayers. Many thanks, Eva

  I Got My MoMo a'Workin' ! <~)
Ok, OK! So I took a little license with the lyrics. So, sue me! Girl's just wanna have fu-un. You know? Girl's just wanna ha-ave fun! (Oohhh, Morgan...you have no idea what I put up with, with this Mother O' Mine! I buy her books, and I buy her books...and she just chews off the covers!! That's MY job!!!) ~~ Thank you for visiting me. And [Blush] I really appreciate your compliment! If you took a look at the photos at the bottom of my page, though, I don't think I'm quite such a beautiful bird right this moment. I had surgery nearly two weeks ago, and I'm still wearin' what fids around the BirdChannel have been callin' 'my royal ruffle'. That's cause, after I woke up from surgery, the first thing I did was pull out my stitches! This is the thanks I get for tryin' to save the Doc some time and effort. But I should be gettin' 'em out tomorrow. Then the only evidence left will be my naked 'chicken leg'! That and this lovely scar. ~~ I see that your 'Blog Bio' starts off with what sounds like a 'reunion'. How long have you and your mom been together? I've been with my mom and dad since I was 2 weeks old! That's...8..9..10..and 1/2 years! ~~ We used to live in Michigan; the Detroit [Ann Arbor] area. We just moved to South Carolina in January of this year. Mom and I are really missin' the change of the seasons! Mom says that fall has always been her favorite time of the year. Now, she's not really sure what time of the year it is; what with the difference in the number of daylight hours, and the temperature differences, not to mention no real seasonal changes like she's been used to. What's life like around your nest this time of year? I guess this would be a 'first' for you, too! ~~ Before I leave you, I'm about to do what I call my 'Votey Dance' on your 'umbrella button'! Get ready to watch your vote tally go up to 60....Did ya see it?! Whoopeee!! See ya! ~<~)~

  Hi Morgan!
Thank you for coming by to see me! How do you like your new cage? So is it alot of fun playing with the wheelie thing on the new mouse? I haven't tried that yet. Mom wasn't too happy when I pooped on her mouse but she knows I'm only a baby. My moms have made me a few new toys. So far I've only tasted them. The one in the picture with me was for Cookie for his third hatchday. Mom has promised me she'll make me one just like it. Mom took some new pictures of me yesterday. She liked one so much that she changed the picture on my home page. I hope you'll come by to see me again. Here's another vote for you. Feathery hugs and lots of beaky kisses. Honey Bun
