A friend's mother felt she could no longer keep Serena, so we agreed to add her to our flock. Her name was Happy, but with a new life, we felt she deserved a new name. She has some behavioral issues - she did some chewing on herself for a while before she came to our family, but she seems to be doing much better now. We are trying our best to make her feel welcome and comfortable. UPDATE: DNA tests have revealed that she is a he! That's perfectly fine with us, though. We've decided to keep his name as Happy, afterall. Since he's been settling down in our flock, the name really does suit him now. He really has been a truly wonderful addition to our family..

Hi! My name is Happy Angel

I am a Double Yellow-Headed Amazon from Dale City, VA.

27 years old   M

Double Yellow-Headed Amazon

Pasta, corn, almonds, peanuts, oatmeal, broccoli, and bell peppers.

On top of my cage and on Momma's shoulder (but that's not allowed).

Men, sticks, towels, and just about anyone who isn't Momma.

She's so niave! She's learning quickly about Amazons, but not quickly enough. She's pretty funny, and does things that make me feel better. She reads and sings to me, but I sure wish she'd let me on her shoulder. She doesn't allow that because she said that's bad for birds to do...especially since I've already bitten her pretty badly on the hands and arms a few times. But she's trying...she gives me great food (although these pellets are going to take some getting used to), and leaves the TV on Animal Planet for me to watch during the day. Oh, and I heard her say that I've got a new and much bigger cage on the way. I think I'm gonna like this place.

Defensive spread eagle stance in the corner of the cage..

Second hand parrots still need first class love!.

  Hi Serena Angel
Just wanted to say.. I am so happy you are in a new home and you are on the bird channel.com as here you will learn soooooooooooooo much!
I do need to tell you, when I bought my bird, I changed her name too. Then someone told me once they get used to their old name, it can cause great confusion.
Well then I added her original name to it. I.E her name was "Baby".. so now I say Mango Baby'.. most of the time I do say "Baby" but we try to incorporate her name into what we enjoy as her name as well.
No problem with that at all..
She even says.. "hi Baby!" that is how much she knows her name so I did not even go there with the major change.
I am so happy for you.. you will be happy in your new home.
hugs to you..
MangoBaby!

Come visit me, Mango Baby.

  Hi Serena
We like youre name it goes well with the name Sierra. Sierra is a double yellow that I rescued from a lady who was abusing her. Sierra and i have gone through a lot. when I got her no one could hold her not even on a long perch. After many terrible bites I can now hold her and give her tummy and neck scratches. Next month I will have had her for one year and she has come a long way. If there is anything we can do for you to help you and Serena we will gladly do our best to help. I know you mentioned that you have a cage coming for her in the mail, but I wanted to let you know of a site that has a catalog you can get as well. It's called featherfarm.com the cages are the best price I have ever seen. here is the direct link to Sierra's cage it was only 259.00 and free shippinghttp://www.featherfarm. com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=- 34
she loves this cage and it has held up very well it still looks like brand new :) good luck and hope to see you around <3

Come visit me, Sierra & Sam.
