 he belonged to an elderly couple who passed away,. the children ended up taking him,. he was not friendly w them so they stuck him n a room by himself, so a friend i work with who was friends w the people told him about how i had a african grey. they asked if i was interested in adopting him. i gave it a try & hes now a member of our happy family! family!. |

Today I thought I would introduce myself and set the 'stage'. For my campaign for BOTM I would like to consider the history of the Castle, where all BOTM and BOTD reside. I have asked Polly to provide some atmosphere by playing minstrel. He will accompany me on his lute.
“Hey Zippy, its a banjo”
“Polly, what about your guitar?”
“I broke my last one at the Western Milonga when I was 'El Kabong'”
“Don't you at least have a mandolin? It would be a little closer to what I was thinking.”
Polly shakes his head.
“O.K., with background music on a banjo, I will attempt to narrate some history.”
Way, way, way back in time, our dear friend Kelly *v* became BOTW (Sept. 2008). On the last day of her reign, Kelly threw a party. BOTW Kelly *v* issued invitations to a Masquerade. Kiddo showed up as a knight. Kelly's skinmom made her a beaded crown which she wore for her pictures. Thereby was the custom of wearing crowns instituted. Upon her coronation as BOTM, (Oct. 2008), she declared the party to be at the castle. And behold, in the magic that is of BC, a castle appeared. And then did Queen Kelly's many friends party.
Many thanks to Kelly *v* Miss SweetPepper pointed out to me that many NEW to BC birds do not know what is going on with B(ird)O(f)T(he)D(ay)/BOTD and B(ird)O(f)T(he)M(onth)/BOTM.
The BOTD is the bird with the most votes in one day. The day following the votes, that bird has its profile picture in the Bird of the Day spot on the right side bar. The 'account' also receives 1000 points.
Now the BOTM is the bird with the most for a whole month. The 'account' receives 10,000 points. To see the BOTM, go to the Bird Eclub on the left side bar. Scroll past the Birdie Quiz to the next set of tabs. On the very right is Top Bird. Click there and you will find the BOTM. Click on the name, and you will get to that bird's page, and you can find out what has been happening in the castle. The birds on BC honor our BOTM by referring to the bird as King or Queen for the month of their reign. The castle is in our imagination, although a page is being set up, #239094 (#234862 not active in 64 days as of 7/29/12).
There has been a campaign for BOTM. The month prior to the honor, the bird running, visits as many birds as the campaigner is able, soliciting votes. Recently the campaigns have had a theme.
Every day, the castle is the residence of the BOTD along with that month's BOTM.
A piece of history is that back a few years ago there was BOTW (Bird of the Week) instead of BOTD. So you will find BOTW awards in the award section of pages.
ANOTHER point of interest is that although you only get points for 1 vote and 1 blog per day, you may vote (for different birds) AND blog multiple times in one day.
