I used to work at a pet store and while I was cleaning out the budgie cage, I went to remove the water dish and this budgie was sitting on it. Normally, as my hand went in the cage, the budgies went flying, but this budgie was different. I moved my hand closer to him and he stepped onto my hand. I was in complete shock. I fell in love with the little guy and would spend my breaks looking at him and having him stand on my finger (since no other budgie I had come into contact with was ever hand tamed). About a week later, I was walking by the bird cages and spontaneously decided to look at the parakeet cage (which is on the bottom row). I saw my little buddy laying on the ground, slightly twitching, and sprung into action. I pulled him out of the cage so the other budgies wouldn't hurt him, clipped his wings so he couldn't spaz out and fly into anything, sprinted down the aisle to grab a cage for him, and rushed him to the vet (which was closed). I didn't quite know what to do at that point (since my manager wasn't at work), so I took him back to the pet store and sat him upright, supporting his head with my hand. I put one of my fingers into his feet and he began to slowly gain feeling back into his feet. He started clutching onto my finger and after a few agonizing minutes, he stood on my finger with his own willpower. I bawled my eyes out at the amazement of watching a budgie recover from a seizure in my hands. After that, I cared for him at the pet store until I was able to take him home to watch after him. We fell in love. Unfortunately, he passed away from another seizure while I was at school. He will always be my Pretty Bird. <3. Awards

Hi! My name is Pretty Bird

I am a Budgerigar from Buffalo, NY.

Fluffs, Bay Love

5 years old   M

Millet spray! and any type of seed!!!

The top perch in the back left corner, my shoulder, the stone swing on the shelf.

Being woken up late at night when the crazy red head goes to bed.

She feeds me lots of treats and healthy food (though I like the treats better). She takes showers with me, listens to music and dances with me, and pets me! She's great!

Bobbing his head, singing, sitting on my shoulder, closing his eyes and sticking his chest out into the shower, nibbling my ear..

They Call It... Budgie Love.
