Mom and dad are thinking about heading down to BirdParadise this weekend - it's the first weekend in a long time there have been NO plans ! So that sounds like a good plan to me ! They love to go down there just to play and hang out . . . and as long as the weather's nice and there's not too much traffic, it's not even a bad drive . . . just over 2 hours :)

Awe shucks, you really thought I looked regal with a crown on, did you? Cool. I'll remember that for the next time I need a little pick-me-up. How right you are about the smaller the bird the bigger the bite. I've heard it said around here that if mom HAD to make a choice, she'd take a pinch from the Harlequin over a bite from a cantankerous 'keet or a tick-offed 'tiel. (We become cantankerous and ticked off when we have to be confined for say, nail trims or some other need for man-handling.) That's really something that Moggie can still do damage even though he's missing that all important tip on his beak. Maybe he has two now instead of one? Double the puncture-power! Owiee!

Quick hellos today -
With Mother's Day tomorrow all household errands (marketing, laundry . . . ) have to get done today before mom heads over to school. It's not the performance she's concerned about, it's the cast party afterwards ! Imagine near 40 kids between 11 and 14 with pizza, soda, munchies, cake and loud music ! YIKES !
Wanted to wish everybirdie good luck for tonight or if you're not racing . . . lots of fun ! ! I'll make sure mom brings me round sometime in the next day or two to see how things went !

First, thank you for your visit and vote yesterday - they helped to make me BOTD today! Wow! What a very nice surprise.
Thanks for the pictures you've sent along. I understand about that anti-camera feeling. The challenge here is that I have so many flockmates that think they need to get in on the photo shoot, I have to be taken out of the little bird room to somewhere where I haven't got a half dozen family members leaning in, asking, "Why she taking your picture? Can I be in it too? Are you sure it's safe to let that think blink at you like that? Are you famous or something? blah blah blah! I'm not into the lens being right up in my beak but if it stays back a bit, I'm okay. Still though, it's sort of weird to have that strange thing looking right at you. Your pics will work fine for our team photos. Thanks again for sharing them.

The light box at mom's school is fixed - kind of - the blue lights in the back bar blew ! That means if it can't get fixed before Saturday, they'll have to use a blue gel on the spotlight to create night time . . . at least it's safe !
Dad ran out of dinner ideas - last night we had hotdogs ! Really dad ? Wonder what tonight will bring ?
Then it rained, no, poured all day ! Sure hope that's over - one day of napping is enough for me ! Don't forget Mother's Day is Sunday - NAME THAT TUNE on page 231616 has mother songs this week ! Go see if you know any !

Guess what happened to mom yesterday ? She was rehearsing with her drama club after school and one of her 7th graders came running from the light box yelling "Smoke !" Mom rushed to get everything turned off and hunted down the head of maintenence - who called an electrician. They finished their rehearsal on a dark stage ! Hopefully, they'll get it fixed fast ! Thursday is dress rehearsal and then comes the performances ! Lucky for her I was waiting and gave her lots of cuddles and beaky kisses when she got home. All dad gave her were ravioli's !

It's amazing, I think, that we Keets are going to get to play baseball this year. For a minute there I was thinking there was going to be a season without us represented in the league, but at the last minute, Coach Muffin pulled a team together and here we are, ready to run with the big dogs. I mean, the big birds! I bet, just like in the past, we'll be this amazing team with the most incredible sense of team spirit and sportsmanship. Why should you guys use indoor squawks ? You were probably all jailed right ? I always yell if I'm stuck in my cage and mom or dad is in sight ! Like just earlier today. Mom was working in the dining room - she did the windows (indoor), curtains, and even shampooed the rug - instead of playing ! Can you imagine that ?
Now she's taking a break before heading downstairs with a load (or two) of laundry . . . So does mom ever forget anything when she packs at the last minute ? Did I see somewhere that mom is planning a BirdParadise trip ? You lucky flock ! The parronts LOVE that place ! They usually make a couple trips a year - it's about 2 1/2 hours, but so worth it !
Mom put all her coats away and then froze yesterday when she was putting the kids on the school buses . . . brr - hope that changes ! Lots of plans for the weekend !
Dad is staying home today since his father (83) has a cardiologist appt. He wants to go - and ask questions -

Sounds like the parronts had a really fun weekend ! Mom and dad do listen to jazz, but only in local venues - going into NYC is so cost prohibitive, it would have to be something really special ! But she does love Bethlehem ! ! Her niece's boyfriend was a music major down there - mom would go every Christmas to hear him play at vespers - and mail all her cards ! What a pretty town - did mom and dad stay and walk around too ?

Thanks for stopping by to help me celebrate yesterday - could have knocked me over with a feather when I turned on the 'puter in the morning and saw ME looking at me ! I do so love surprises :)
The parronts here don't mind the weather - in fact mom likes having all 4 seasons. Of course, as long as dad's computer is running he can work from home - and with mom teaching, if the roads are bad, they close. So neither parront really has to be out in the bad weather except to clean off cars . . . And you're right - with the housing market the way it is, it could take a while to sell . . .

MOVING ?
Thinking of moving where ? When ? Oh my ! What a lot of work ! Just the thought exhausts mom - we had our kitchen remodeled last summer and packing just one room up was enough to keep her happy where we are !
Vacation is here ! Today was just a half day :) And I know mom will be around tomorrow - I see the makings of Easter bread on the counter. Since it's so labor and time intensive, mom will have to be home all day either tomorrow or Saturday ! If I'm good, I'll get a raisin, if I'm really good, maybe she'll give me the empty raisin box too !

Yes, yes, yes ! Tell mom whenever she's ready she can post any book reviews to the library page ! I know my mom will be looking soon (summer vacation is coming quickly !)
Hooray - we got just a dusting - the snow all stayed south of us ! Plus mom saw robins - she came home as excited as a kid at Christmas !
Even better, only 3 days to her vacation and cage shopping ! What a great use of tax refund . . . :) She and dad will probably take a day and travel down to Bird Paradise . . . we have one bird store here - Bird Jungle - but it doesn't have the selection.

Well, another Monday ! With snow in the forecast :( Hopefully it'll only be on the grass and trees - cause on their way to Alpine (yes, NJ - where is the sanctuary ? Mom and Dad's friends are right off 9W) the parronts saw a whole bunch of robins ! Mom always gets excited to see them - we've had one build a nest under the back deck the last few years - wonder if she'll be back ?
4 more days till vacation - that's when the parronts will go shopping for a new condo for me. Mom has looked on-line, but she's a touchy feely kind and likes to see in person . . . so I have to wait !

What a fun night last night and I was so happy you were able to go too ! The only problem is it was so crowded we didn't have much of a chance to chat. Then mom made me leave early cause dad is trying to put together a new TV stand (for the new TV he went out and bought when she sent him for ink for the printer !) Happy Spring CharlieKeet !
Well, I'm glad to hear you weren't part of the grand design ! There are two places I like my condo - my favorite is my spring/summer/fall spot near the window - I get moved during cold weather cause it's too drafty . . .
Well, we ended up with about 6 inches yesterday - mom had a two hour delay ! Worst of all though, is the snow is still here ! Even though the sun came out, it wasn't warm enough to melt it !Come visit me, Cookie ready for bazbol !, BC Library Now Open & Fly with the angels my Sally.

It was all white outside this morning
not green for St. Paddy's Day ! Besides the temps weren't even as high as freezing ! The good news about that is mom and dad did not go to the parade . . . they said they will wait till the summer when the niece's drum and bugle corps go into competition season - so everyone is home with me and the house smells good cause there's a roater in the oven :) Perfect Sunday afternoon !
